LG G2x Update Site Gone Live - T-Mobile LG G2x

Looks like LG has taken the site for updating the G2x live.
See the link at the bottom of the tmonews article

Here is the link

I wonder if it's the same update we all knoe of or a newer version.
Too bad I'm at work to check.

From the looks of the URL this seems to be a staging site and not the "live" or "final" version as yet.
wwwstg.lg.com

The file version is different for this download and the date. Does not mean it is different, has anyone tried it on their phone yet?
First "unofficial" v1.0.1.5
This one v1.0.1.7

do you think they've fixed the light bleed with the phones already coming with ginger bread?

I agree - looks like that might be a staging site... However, this is not:

Looks like neither the stage or production site has working links though - it's all text with no clickable items other than the site map at the bottom.

It does not work. Still detects same version. I suspect it looks at something else too, maybe bsseband.

what is stock recovery and how do you flash it? This is the one thing about android that eludes me...so there's a copy of the rom somewhere that's built in, in case the phone has a failure of some type?

Yeah, if it is based off of midNIGHT's rom/ext4, you need to flash through CWM3 (orange)
EDIT: I may be wrong. I guess it would depend on which version of midNIGHT it is based on. The most current version is "edify friendly", so if it is based off of that - then yes, you should use CWM3. If it is not, then the CWM version ending in .02 should be used if you already have ext4.

I'm running the newest version of midNIGHT now and the DEV is a great guy. I was going to flash this and test it out b/c it is based off of that and has the "extras" included that I currently have loaded (GB theme, GB keyboard, no data throttle) through seperate flashes!
Also, being that it is an "edify" rom, there is a link to a repository of edify-converted items on the midNIGHT DEV's personal blog (link is in the midNIGHT 2.7 thread). He has taken conversion requests and posted them there.

Yep, that's fixed. We still don't know what ROMs it supports though, which obviously is key information. I can't believe this was released through ROM Manager without stating that.
Im going to try the new recovery in a little bit. Im still on 3.0.0.5 for the moment because im planning on switching back and forth between my gingerbread roms and my froyo builds.

3.0.0.5 can't do that. It's 3.0.0.6 that can handle both.

How to get the latest baseband? Anyway?

Hey.
How to get the latest baseband? Anyway?
The new gingerbread came with different baseband, but none of the roms here have it yet....
so I want to know is there some way of getting it onto the gingerbread official rom zip posted here?
I have cm7 now, so I can flash nandroid froyo backup, then do the update via lg website, which will get me the gingerbread and new baseband, and then flash over the gingerbread zip which is rooted over gingerbread previously installed?
Is there an easier way?
wrong forum dude

I was asking about this earlier in the q&a forum.
It doesn't seem like its a universal baseband seeing as the update is made only available for the P999DW and not the DWP, so if you have a DWP and flash the DW baseband, you could be in store for some bad times.
Running just the rom right now seems to be just fine on the DWP, for me that is, as always though, ymmv.

We all can flash the new baseband with LG own update tool. Developers are not taking care of us at all as we can flash it.
The only thing that developers are doing it preventing us from having root with it which makes no difference.

The newer baseband "should" be an upgrade over the old one. Its too early to tell.
I dont know about you guys but reception, data and battery used by the original radio for this phone sucked the big pastrami for me. I get no bars where my vibrant and NXS get at least two, thus this thing is sucking the battery searching for signal. And this happens to be at work where i spend 50 hours a week at. This issue alone makes me very disappointed with my g2x.

If you want the latest baseband, you have to go through LG's flasher or the OTA update. However, this is not required for CM7. CM7 is happy with either baseband version.

I haven't noticed any improvement from old baseband to new, so just flash CM7 and don't worry about the LG updater tool.
1. Nandroid backup using cwm
2. wipe using cwm
3. flash cm7 (just get the latest nightly: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p999)
When you flash subsequent nightlies/RCs of CM7, you can flash right over the previous CM7 flash, just be sure to wipe cache/dalvik cache and do a repair permissions before booting into new CM7 flash. At least that's my little ritual, not sure how much it helps.
