hi there,
I own two android devices, a HTC Desire Z and a (just bought) Asus eee Pad Transformer. My standard google account syncs with the Desire Z. On the Transformer, I created a new account for market-syncing. I also wanted to have the contacts from the Desire Z (i.e. my standard google account) on the Transformer, so I set up the standard account to sync only contacts.
Now comes the problem: although I only ticked "contacts" in the sync options, the Transformer syncs also the calendar. And, even worse, on the Desire Z the primary calendar will only show the next appointment.
Some else out there, that partially syncs his google account on two or more devices? Same problems maybe?
Note: I do see all appointments on the browser in google and also in Thunderbird.

My curiosity question is why the need for a new account for the transformer? You could have all on one account. I have never used more than one, which works perfectly, so I cannot help with your direct question.
I do understand your question and there is a simple answer: I am sharing the device with my wife and don't want her to see all the surprises I plan for her that I note in the calendar
But I partially solved it by creating a new calendar in my main account, always writing my personal stuff in that and sharing some of the other cals to the transformer account.

I have a nice brandnew Desire S, no custom rom (yet) and all original.
I'm experiencing a calender problem I can't find any info about on google.
I have both a google account with appointments, and an exchange account with appointments. When I make a new appointment in outlook, it get's replicated okay to my phone. A moment later the appointment also gets replicated to my google account, and therefore appears 2 times in my calender app (HTC).
Also when I make a new appointment in Google (on the phone or on PC does not matter) it first shows on the phone once, and later it seems to get replicated to my exchange account and it appears also in outlook and twice on my phone.
I dont want replication between the calenders, I just want to be able to look at both calenders.
Anyone an idea about what I am overlooking?
Thanks!

From within the HTC Calendar application
Calendar->More->Calendars and un-select one of your calendars....either Google or Outlook.

But that's not what I want. I want to be able to look into 2 (soon 3) separete calenders, without getting all appointments replicated to the other calenders...
But somehow the problem got solved. The described behaviour has suddenly disappeared. Pitty I don't know why ;-)

We're you running any additional Sync software on your PC, HTC Sync or Google Calendar Sync?
Hi! I'm currently an android user and am looking to possibly move to the Windows phone side. I am currently waiting on my Lumia 800 to be delivered, but have a few questions about contact syncing
I currently have my contacts on gmail and android syncs to it as expected. What I miss is the ability to have a local copy in my desktop outlook (non-exchange), so I usually download from gmail once a month and overwrite my outlook contacts (since gmail is almost always up-to-date because of my phone)
Reading about this on microsoft's site, it looks like I can sync up my outlook to my live account (using hotmail connector which I already use).
Question 1 - is this a one time sync (between live acct and desktop outlook)? Or does it sync back and forth if there are changes in either location? (I assume/expect that the WP7 will make sure that the phone and live acct will always be in sync regardless of where I make changes).
In other words, will my phone, live acct and outlook contacts be in perfect sync?
Question 2 - If I have my gmail account set up in WP7 people hub, will it show me duplicate contacts (that I will have to manually link)? Or will it be able to synchronize my contacts between gmail and live as well?
Thanks!
if i remember well from 9 months ago when i did this
answer 1: it is one time sync
answer 2: it will link them together but not sync them
Thanks! Do you know of a free & reliable way to make it sync regularly between Live and desktop outlook (non-exchange)?
i do not but your live account contacts will show in outlook anyway so you can directly use them
I have a question sortof related to this...
My girlfriend got a Radar 4G for Xmas and will be switching over from Android in the next couple of days, is there any tutorials or instructions on how to do that available?
Is there a way to manually sync her contacts between gmail and the phone? If not, is there a way to back them up somehow?
I'm not really up on exchange or any of MS's services and could use some pointers...
Hi Folks,
i am comming from various HTC mobiles and now wanted to try an tablet.
After a few days of research I came to the Acer A700 and orderd me one.
First everything was fine - the I synced the tablet with Outlook 2010 using myPhoneExplorer. I do not want to use google for syncing. There is too many data in my contacts and calendar I do not want show up in whatsoever net.
Contacts working fine, the Calendar sync was also successful, but I found no way to display the contacs. I was alwas asked for a google account.
Does anyone here has an idea how I can get a sync calender working on this device? I tried pocket informant and the build in calender to test. I reset the tab and tried to create a new appointment - choosing a local calender - it was not possible. the question for a google account again.
Any other ideas? Otherwise the Tab will go back on monday.
Best Regards
Umqi
Not sure. I use the Touchdown app for all of my Exchange sync, because I didn't want ANY mixing of my work information with my personal. Works great.

Hi,
I tried it with my google account, but without syncing outlook to google no appointments are shown in the A700 Calender nor with any other calendar app. I think it will go back to amazon tomorrow.

Hello,
I intend to consult the best experts (all of you) for the following situation.
I own a ASUS TF700 and an Samsung Galaxy S2, but I intend to "share" my calendar between the two devices like Apple's iCloud can do.
So, any one know an application that would allow me to make this sync?
Best regards
VGCC
Anything you do on your google calendar (the app should be standard on both your devices) can be accessed on any android device with the same gmail login. You will also be able to access it anytime via your gmail account.

I agree with the person above,
I constantly use the stock calendar which syncs from my laptop (using GMail) to my Android devices and vice versa.
You don't need that Apple marketed iBloat to be able to sync everything wirelessly, they just claim (for every thing they launch) to have (re)invented the wheel all the time
PS: If you don't have a Gmail-account (which would be surprising seeing that you're on Android ) or just wish to sync your calendar with an outlook, you might want to have a look into missing sync. It's not flawless, but it does the job for my sister (who barely uses her Gmail account )
Hello,
After all this time i haven't given any feedback. Sorry.
I've following your advices and now i'm using the google calendar and i'm usin this software to make the sync between outlook (PC) and android devices (Smartphone and Tablet).
Software : Google Calendar Sync 0.9.4.1 http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=pt-BR&answer=98563
Thanks
Some of my newer contacts are not synching with either my Google Contacts or my Outlook.com contacts. I'm on a Nexus 5 running Android 5.1.
I use Outlok.com for my primary repository for contacts and calendars, however I use GSyncit add-on for MS Outlook (desktop) to sync my desktop Outlook contacts and calendars to Google. This way I can use Outlook.com or Google Calendar / GMail to access/share my calendar and access contacts depending on the situation.
Everything is working fine on the desktop end so that is irrelevant to this problem (so probably shouldn't even have wrote the above paragraph - but just in case.)
I see there is a new Google Contacts app on the phone and on the web. I noticed this when I clicked on the People app and it said the app was missing. When I go to the web version of Google Contacts via my Google account, there are no contacts there! All my contacts are still in Gmail though of course.
I see that when I attempt to edit an older contact on the phone, it first prompts me with which Google account I want to sync with. I don't need to sync my phone contacts directly with Google, I just want to sync with Outlook.com -> Outlook -> Google (via GSyncit) but I suppose it wouldn't cause a problem if I just had the phone sync to both accounts (probably will then need to disable GSyncit contact sync between Outlook desktop and Google).
What is weird is that it is like Google made the mistake of launching this new contacts app, but there's no notice or migration instructions on the changes with the new app. I just happend to discover something was "unhooked" by trying to edit a contact! I just discovered the new Contacts app on the web by Googling, Google Contacts. I'm technically saavy and somewhat of an Android Wonk, and am surprised this is all a surprise!
Do I have to go try to edit every single contact on the mobile Contacts app now to select which Google account it syncs with? I HOPE NOT!
At the risk of appearing dumb I'm leaving my original post for background. It appears this is (not surprisingly) all a Microsoft issue. When I went into the Outlook.com app on my phone, when you click on the Contacts and Calendars Sync setting, nothing happens! Come to find out this app is no longer on the play store. It appears to have been replaced earlier this year by the Microsoft Outlook Preview. Installed that app, and it doesn't and an account type to the phone! So it appears, unlike the Outlook.com app, it won't sync calendars and contacts with the native Android calendar and contacts app. It's as if Microsoft is trying to make you use their new app instead of the stock Android apps that just sync with the Outlook.com account? Please say this isn't so!

Title: How To Sync Contacts & Calendars with Native Android Phone Apps?
Reply
Hi,
Unfortunately , by design, it is not yet possible to sync your Android phone contacts to your Outlook.com account.
Note: At the moment, you can only sync Outlook.com contacts to your android phone.
Please provide your suggestions/opinion as a feedback to the development team. To do this, click on the gear icon on the top right corner of Outlook.com homepage and select 'feedback' from the dropdown menu.
Hope this information is helpful.

However, this isn't that big of a deal as I come to find out, even though there is no longer an Outlook.com account type on the phone any more, you can use the Exchange account type and use server address: s.outlook.com and then you can sync everything. Why the MS Tech didn't point this out it baffling.
(big middle finger for you Microsoft)
