Update a booby trap? - T-Mobile LG G2x

What if the lg gb update was meant to spite all the g2x whiners and complainers, by permanently being installed on the units with no hope of installing the official t mobile one when it releases, there by making the phone owners who were impatient and installed the lg one marked for warranty termination.
Just sayin...

except that they replaced mine free of charge/free shipping when mine got bricked.

Seriously? This crap again? Do people not have any clue what they are asking before they ask it? If you had done one bit of research you would know that you are not "STUCK" on this update at all. Many many people have already installed it and moved on to other roms since.

[Q] N00Bish Q: is there a way to unlock Nexus S

N00b speaking : is it? in UK there is no SIM-Free ones from Carphone Warehouse or you mean there is a way to unlock it
I might be n00b. But I got my answer from Google UK. So I assume that's valid.

In fact I m drunk
it is available
but my Q still stands: is it possible to unlock the locked ones?
btw the noob in my Q was referring to me NOT to you
Thanks for your answer mate
I couldn't find any information about the phone being locked in the site you linked me to.
But anyway, i'm not from UK so i'm not sure. But most of the world are getting it already unlocked. Google UK Nexus S site says its unlocked though.
But i'm sure there is a way to unlock a locked Nexus S as it's meant to be unlocked anyway
But I can't really help you with that because I do not have the experience of unlocking a Nexus S yet.
Thanks for taking the time to reply
the price for the SIM-Free one and the Carrier-Locked one is the same but I was just asking, maybe because it's a challenge or because you might get your phone via a contract and you need to unlock it
Regards
No problem. I hope someone comes by and help you clarify things up. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.
mine came from a carrier upgrade in the UK and isn't locked.

That's why the price is the same

Glad that you finally solved your problem
I sold my Desire Z recently and found an announcement on the internet, some1 sells his nexus s. The device is brand new, bought from Vodafone Romania and the man said that is carrier-locked. Is there any way to unlock it?
I read above, all of you say that is only branded, not locked. But what if the seller is right, and the device is really sim-locked, how could i unlock it? any clues?

Out with the old, in with the new...

New toy came in, time to say goodbye to the captivate. For my first android phone it served me well, the unbrickable part of it sure came in handy.
As for the sgs2, it just stupid fast, no overclocked/lagfixed cappy rom comes close to its speed. Lag just doesn't exist on this phone, job well done samsung.
Time to move on over to the sgs2 section, sure gonna miss cm7 and all the other rom dev's, without them i would of hurled this phone into the wall a long time ago

Personally I'm waiting for the AT&T version ("Attain" supposedly) to drop.
Got an upgrade coming in two months, and can't wait to burn it...
Galaxy S2 is definitely the best phone on the planet right now, hope you enjoy it!
$749?! That's a difficult justification...even for this device
NVIDIA is going to release a quad core tegra 3 phone in November. I am holding out for that

Looks like my move to the sgs2 was short lived, the size of it annoyed me, so im selling it.
Some days I just want to wait what kind of phone the Death Star will drop on us, but on the others I feel like it's worth the extra hundreds of dollars to avoid the headache of AT&T messing with the phone first.

Sounds like there bought,i called tmobile twice and they told me tmobile has been bought. So why when i asked people around here they say its not true. I don't wanna believe it but i guess its true.

http://articles.boston.com/2011-06-29/business/29718145_1_at-t-deal-at-t-chief-executive-public-hearings
The deal has not been approved by the FCC, so at this point ATT has not purchased T-Mobile.
The ad you describe is likely just an attempt by ATT to influence public opinion in their favor.
Thx i googled but got every answer you could think of , i got a feeling from the last few quarters i read about T-Mobile struggling to stay a float i didn't know it was that bad.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure T-Mobile has been in the red for years, not just for a few quarters. Their parent company would just bail them out though because they are a huge multinational but I guess they're tiring of it. T Mobile USA is like that under achieving little brother who always gets himself into trouble.
According to that article I linked if they do merge ATT would hold 80% of the US market. Hard to predict how the FCC will decide, but that clearly would severely impact competition. In any case it looks like a decision is a year away.
Samnada if it's approved were all gonna be ****ed higher prices and innovation of new devices will suffer.I guess if it happens 80% of people gonna have the freakin iphone in Chicago damn near everyone i see got one.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
I don't believe T-Mobile has been in the red, not for a long time if at all. I was under the impression they've been, and continue to be, profitable - just not as profitable as DT would like. Going back through the years we see profits of $130 - $500+ million per quarter.

Honestly I hope the merger is not approved so T-Mobile will receive the cash, spectrum and roaming agreements that AT&T has committed to providing in case of a breakup. I have nothing against AT&T other than their arrogance, overly-congested network, unscrupulous advertising tactics and arguably the worst customer service known to man.
If ATT ends up with 80% we'll be

Goodbye T-Mobile V10 Forum

Hi,
I made the "Jump" today to the Galaxy S7 Edge though T-Mobile. I got tired of waiting for Marshmallow. The V10 taught me that I don't necessarily need to maintain 2 spare batteries and an external charger (despite getting them for free from LG). I even don't even use the wireless charging circuit (though trying the QC wireless is on my agenda with this phone). Does any body know a market as easy as Swappa for accessories?

I'm curious as to how you made the "Jump" to the S7 Edge on T-Mobile when it doesn't even ship until March 10th. They are only taking pre orders at this time. Guess you are gonna sell your current phone and what, do without a phone until your order arrives sometime after the 10th? Just trying to put a little common sense reality into this thread.

Then he needs to post it elsewhere cause this isn't a market for selling his stuff. That's what Swapps, eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist are for.

We will close this before it becomes a market that is not allowed on XDA
There is absolutely no selling/buying/trading on XDA.

Looks like Funky can root and rebrand without unlocked bootloader

You're a genius! BTW, FunkyHuawei is going to a subscription form of payment. In some repects I don't really fault FH if they are really working hard and providing a lot of support. But the price is awfully high and once you start using the service you become dependent on it, especially when Huawei releases an update. You can really start spending a lot of money if you want to stay up to date. But the main culprit is Huawei because by not allowing release of bootloader unlock code they have entirely stifled development on some great hardware.
I'm surprised XDA supports these greedy guys. Usually how XDA worked is when someone finds a leak in a device. They would publish it so that the development of roms etc gets stimulated, however these greedy cartels choose to mongoose the whole thing for absurd prices..
Seriously, no one should support these practices.

Funkygreedwei is part of xda???
I don't get all the people tearing these guys for charging for their services. They put in the work that you have not to provide you a service that you want. If it's worth the money pay for it, if not, don't. You don't know what went into getting that product, so you don't know what it's worth.
I also don't get the incredible generosity of the talented developers on this site. They put an incredible amount of work in to generate value for other people, and it makes me wonder what's in it for them.
The thing is, xda developers has always been about the later, the devs working out of passion on projects that excite them for devices they love, who openly share their information so that even the most tech-illiterate person could adapt their phone to their needs. I don't hate the devs trying to make a buck, but I hope that xda developers will be preserved for what it's supposed to be. It's helped me alot through the years.
