[Q] Recovery 3.0.0.5 ? 4.0.0.2 ? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there !
Can you tell me what's the difference between recovery 3.0.0.5 (crespo stuff) and the 4.0.0.2 ?
As i read on a topic that recovery is lost when second access via fastboot (security) need to flash again the img or rename /etc/install-recovery.sh to something else, am I right ?
I've read and try a lot with xda and flash zip story all weekend long but ain't find want I want :
Can you tell me if (for my nexus s) this rom exist :
- AOSP 2.3.4,
- DSPmanager.apk in,
- Zeam launcher,
- no apk "sh*t" proper to a ROM (team) like the apk in the infin1ty one (I don't care and made my feedbacks where they can be read and answered... HERE !),
- Voodoo Kernel Supported (like the matr1x one or th Netarchy),
I tried to put unwanted apk out (and wanted in) the zip before flashing it but it does not work.
I got my UI sound (I've also put this in the zip system/media/UI) without success.
Please ! is there a hero dev who want to compile that for me !

If you want DSP manager, you have to use CyanogenMod.
Zeam Launcher: Get it from the market. It is not ROM dependent. https://market.android.com/details?id=org.zeam&feature=search_result
APK: Don't even know what you're saying.
Kernel: It doesn't matter what ROM you're using just flash a Voodoo-supported kernel after you flash the ROM. Some ROMs may include the kernel with the flashable zip. Some may not, but if it doesn't include it... it doesn't mean that you can't use it.

I'm talking about the ROM statistic (survey) apk like those 2 in MIUI or the one in infin1ty Rom.

[I9001][RELEASE] AIO-Package v1.1 [09.02.2012]

Everytime you flash a new stock rom you have to root it, install busybox, get the better graphics driver, flash FeaModRecovery and so on.
This can take a lot of time.
So I had the idea of making an All in One Package (AIO) for this which is flashable via stock recovery.
You "need" this AIO-Package only if you want to use a stock rom. The most Custom Roms already include this.
This AIO-Package includes:
Code:
Root
Busybox
Better Graphics Driver
Stock Kernel with init.d and custom bootanimation
FeaModRecovery 1.4 by manveru0 [only in v1]
DOWNLOAD
v1.1
Rapidshare
Mediafire
v1
http://www.multiupload.com/1KMB6IMJQB
http://www.mediafire.com/?lsxsaoyan4q4l1m
INSTALLATION
1. Download the zip file and put it on your internal SD-Card
2. Power off the phone
3. Now you have to go in RecoveryMode:
- Press Vol+ and Power Button
- as soon as the "SAMSUNG" appears release both buttons after 2 seconds
- as soon as the "Android out of the Box" appears, press the Menu button.
4. Use Volume buttons to choose apply update from sdcard in Recovery Menu.[Press Home-Button]
5. Navigate to AIO_Package_v1.zip [Press Home Button]
6. Restart your phone
Changelog
Code:
v1.1
- new Kernel 2.6.35.7-perf [email protected] #1
- better init.d support (will be executed at the end of the init.rc file)
- removed FeaModRecovery, because of Rebooting-in-Recovery-Issues
Flash v1.2 via Odin is the safest method for everyone
Extra:
includes Galaxy Nexus bootanimation.
How-To change the bootanimation:
1. Search for a bootanimation.zip/sanim.zip on google/xda
2. Have a look in the zipfile especially desc.txt:
Be sure that the resolution in desc.txt is 480 800
3. Now you have to replace the sanim.zip in /system/media/ with the one you choose. Be sure that your file is named sanim.zip too.
Therefore you can use a fileexplorer with rootaccess (like RootExplorer) or do it via adb.
Nice package, this one is definitely needed after flashing most roms
wow..thats it!!
so much easier tools for beginner..
thanks..
EDIT : as the download link is not there yet, the title should be "release soon". i'm pretty sure u dont want to answer such a question "where is download link?"
regards,
Download is now in the first post. Just tested it with a new flash of XXKPU and everything worked as it should.
So enjoy it
This should be stickied ! thanks a lot

Should work. But you could UnRoot your ROM first with the UnRoot package by KeksKlip and then flash this AIO-Package
If you want to backup your ROM as it is now you need to flash FeaModRecovery first. Then you can do a full BackUp of your existing ROM.
But If you only want to able to do a BackUp in near future the AIO-Package is also including FeaModRecovery so after you flash it you can also do a BackUp.
So its up to you. Hope I understood you right and this helped you.
Thanks man i got it

Anyone want to change the bootanimation can pick i9000 galaxy s bootanimation...its the same size, i use the nexus bootanimation before this, taken from galaxy s thread on xda...
Edit: nice work bro...after tired of custom rom, its now easy to have a stock rom like this thanks to u man...anyway, do u remove bloatware or not?

[SUGGESTION]CM7.2 kernel by tj_style

ok guys I need a bit of suggestion here.
I extracted kernel from tj's cm7.2 RC 0 and thought to post it in dev section as it is very smooth and Oc is upto 844 mhz but the problem is can I really post an kernel from a rom posted in forum other than xda?I know we can't post rom but does that mean kernels also?
please guys need your views about this and yeah the kernel is working fine and I even have flashable zip which can be flashed over any cm7.2 rom you are on
just some problem with wifi which can solved.you can even set frequencies from cyanogenmod settings.
I'm no expert on this matter..even I wanted Sir Tj's kernel on some ROM's. The problem is as you can see, he barely or doesn't visit this forum already.. Maybe asking him a permission might do the trick. So all I'm gonna say is: a Big NO..talk to him first..Then release the hounds if he's ok with that. n_n
Yeah.... you need permission from Tj
Just req at his forum....
There is no such rule. It's just unethical.
As long as you have permission from the Dev it's ok...
Sent from my GT-S5670 using XDA
ok so looking at suggestions I think that we all need to ask for his permission in his forum so that he post his kernel himself on xda.he rarely comes to xda.
this is gonna be very difficult as he is try to promote his forum and will try to avoid his work here
so I need help from all of you.
please be serious as this kernel is very stable.
Do you want use that kernel for your self?
I think you can download his rom and
take that kernel for your self. But to post it i think you must to get permission from owner
dude read the first post.
I have extracted the kernel and even have a working flashable zip.
the kernel is also working fine.
I just want to share with you all but don't have permission.

Just the kernel?
Make a folder with boot.img and meta-inf taken from any fit's kernels Zip file.
Make a zip and flash via cwm
Sent from my GT-S5670 using XDA
just boot.img and meta-inf folder from rom witch kernel i want, and make zip? done that but system dont boot, stuck android
What I did was I downloaded cm7 kernel by squadzone and then replaced the boot.img and then flashed.it worked but wifi erro
meta-inf folder it just an updater script wich is for flashing trough recovery
i just cant make system boot when i flash boot image from one rom to another, for example, ported emanonv5 i flashed andro-id boot image, system stuck at samsung logo, or in cm 7 5.6 i flash cm 7 from ty.style boot image, system stuck again, wont boot. i do something wrong?
Yeah man the whole idea of using different boot.img for diffrent roms is wrong.
You could only use the specific boot.img made with that rom.
I was able to use tj's boot.img with vish's rom because both are cm 7.2 but still complication occured with wifi.
Conclusion:not ant boot.img can be used with any rom.it will simply not boot.
i prefer all cm roms as they r awsum

Flash with odin. It will not increase custom download count!
The kernel should be flashed trough cwm (if installed or not odin will not replace it). You can also flash it trough the terminal or adb.
No apps added, just a clean rom. Don't ask to include apps.
If you need/want an app get some kind of root explorer and add it yourself.
The usual disclaimer applies. Use at your own risk.
You are encouraged to use this as your base rom and cook things into it.

It's not tested. It's deodexed and optimized so it might not work, I've uploaded the stock keyboard too in case you want it. Anyway I hate touchwiz way more than stock gingerbread so don't expect many touchwiz things to last forever in this rom.
i had use this rom & switch back to stock rom with odin coz i didn't find any difference in it...just delete some stock application..we can delete in with root explorer & link2sd...come with some another idea bro...speed is same as stock rom...some games r lagging in this ROM...
Please dont mind...just a feedback as user
Games lag because of the crappy cpu and gpu.I'm still in exams so I don't have many time to add features. The real feature would be an stock ics rom for this phone. Even the cheap live walkman has ics, samsung on the other hand doesn't care about it's users.
u r right bro...it should have stock ics rom...

[Q] Flash a kernel on Xperia x10i without USB

Hi,
Is there any possible way to flash a kernel and then a custom ROM (ICS) on Xperia x10i without a working USB port on the phone?
I am having issues with my X10i as the USB port does not work for data connection, though it works well for charging the device.
I have already got the port replaced twice now, but they say that there's some problem with the connection of the USB port to the motherboard.
My x10i has 2.6.29 - FeraKernel -v2.7 [email protected]#1 kernel , and the ROM is the one which was posted at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516960 (xperia s ported for x10i)
I installed this using the recovery by restoring it to the date as provided in the previous link.
The Build Number says it is Champ-Tof37-Wo88les-x10-S-V9., Baseband version is 2.1.71 and the Android version is 2.3.4.
Could you please help me with getting a new Kernel and ROM, or if there is an ICS based ROM which will work with the existing ROM, or if I can get the backup file for a new ROM, (the way it was done in the post mentioned above)?
Eagerly waiting for response!!
Thanks,
Rishav

Do you have a custom recovery installed on your phone? If you do, you can copy the kernel(must be a flashable zip) onto your sd card and then boot into recovery and select "install zip from SD card" and then select the your flashable zip kernel and reboot the phone

Can you guide me to a link for any such rom+kernel which can be installed from recovery as you have mentioned.

- I know this tablet is pretty much OUTDATED but I just felt like sharing this small stock based rom for the small amount of people still using this device.
- I also know that there are better rom than this but it's the best I could now for now.
- You can install the ROM by 2 methods
1. Odin ==> .tar file (TWRP INCLUDED, NOT DONE YET, PROBLEM WITH SYSTEM.IMG)
2. Recovery ==> .zip file
- This rom is stock based and is made to be the most reliable possible.
- FIRMWARE INFOS:
T230NUUEU0APA1

- Chainfire ==> SuperSU

I just turned on this tablet for the first time in years. Nice to see someone still messing around with it. I'm using a rom made years ago (pixel rom). I will try your new rom soon after I do a backup in twrp. The rom I'm on now has no Samsung apps, hence the reason for the backup lol. Anyways, will update soon with a review.
