Hello. Some of you may remember me from htc diamond thread.I was an old user of that phone, then i went to iphone and now i'm testing android (and i'm very pleased until now)...
Now,my question,I bought htc desire S,downloaded Andexplorer and i copied framework-res.apk from system/framework to sd card, then to pc and i put my icons for battery percentage. Now i try to copy it back to system/framework and a message pop-ups and says "cannot paste framework-res.apk from clipboard"...do i have to unlock my root or something?
ps: i've searched but didn't find anything helpful
thanks in advance
You can use root explorer and click on the R/W icon
If no you can push the files with android sdk doing before
adb remount
adb push file /system/framework
i used root explorer and a message told me that i have to root my phone :/
i have downloaded android sdk,but i don't think it will allow me to paste framework-res.apk if i haven't rooted my phone first
I dont think you can change framework at all if you dont root
yeah i know.I'm trying to find an easy way to root my phone
give us some info about phone...what is hboot version, radio etc etc...then we can find way to help u
my HBoot is 0.98.0000..i have tried with alpharev X,but i don't know why it didn't S-off
edit: also i run reflash, and it says that saga isn't supported yet :/
edit2:my wrong,it's s-off but i still can't paste framework-res.apk

but im not exactly sure how to do that
good news : i fixed it.For those who have the same problem-> i downloaded and copied to sd card (through a minisd reader) this program clockworkmod recovery, then i installed it on my phone..Last i downloaded a different ROM and installed it through this program (i am a s-off user)
Bad news: i really need the original ROM,where can i find it?

Yes you can use the RUU to go to either 2.2 or 2.3 stock unrooted ill provide a link in a sec
Edit: here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971550

You'll need to format your SD card to fat32 in order for bootloader to recognize the zip.
You don't flash it via recovery.
Read the directions exactly you have to rename it to some weird name like "pg10mc" or something (its the device model) and put it on root of sd card and update it in bootloader
Its not hard at all just read all the directions

And what he said
Figured it out.... the 2.2 doesnt need to be renamed. the 2.3.3 does

Oh ok well then it should be pretty simple.
I used the 2.2 ruu once and never used the 2.3
Why do you want to go to stock?
Just wondering because if you go to 2.3 stock and want to root later you can't
I seem to be having issues using this method. It states first thing the link that the device must be in S-Off and must be Rooted for this to work. After the OTA 2.3.3 update my device lost root and went back to S-ON.
HBOOT seems to load and check the file but I never get the option to press VOL Up to update. Has anyone experienced this before?

If you took the update this will not work because of the updated hboot. I believe the original poster was rooted with s-off.
So then if I was able to find a RUU that is stock 2.2 with S-ON then it should work?
I do not mind re rooting once I am back on 2.2 before I upgrade to cyanogen 7

If your running the official update from HTC ( Gingerbread 2.3.3 s-off) there is no way to revert back to froyo. This has been discussed several times over. As of right now all you can do is temp root and wait for perma root to be found.
Hello,
I didn't found the solution for my problem, so I post a new thread for explain it.
I have a french SFR HTC sensation.
My phone doesn't prurpose me OTA update, so I tried to update my phone (who was in 2.3.3 stock rom, and after did a nandroid backup) with this file :
RUU_Pyramid_Vodafone_FR_1.23.163.1_Radio_10.38.900 7.00P_10.11.9007.06_M3_release_190415_signed
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cfdd...415_signed.exe
(found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559)
My phone stay in 2.3.3 SFR Rom but with an old version of Hboot (1.17.0005)
With this version of Hboot, impossible to Unlock bootloader with revolutionary because Hboot is not compatible and impossible to flash recovery...
So, I tried to intall this file :
RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1_Radio_10.43a.900 7.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198179_signed
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cfdd...179_signed.exe
(fond on the same post of precedent file)
But the installation stop to step 2 with an error (version not adapted for phone if I remeber...)
Just before try the first Update, I did a backup (nandroid backup) of my phone with clockworkmod. So, I have in my computer the original version of the phone in Clockworkmod folder. There is 7 files :
.android_secure.img
boot.img
cache.img
data.img
nandroid.md5
recovery.img
system.img
(1 more file in download folder : -2110140792 and 1 other file : .settings)
Problem : I can't install clockworkmod with this version of HBoot (or I don't found who to do that)
Is it possible to use those files without clockworkmod for put my phone in original configuration?
I try to flash boot.img with adb (flashboot flash boot d:boot.img, boot. img is the nandroid backup file), it's doesn't work (FAILED : remote: signature verify fail)
I try to flash recovery.img with adb (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, (recovery. img is the nandroid backup file), it's doesn't work (FAILED : remote: signature verify fail)
So, I don't know what I can do more... Is there someone who can help me for put my phone in original version?
Thanks
(sorry for my english)
are your files compressed into a .zip? or are the saved as seperate files? make sure to compress your files into a .zip in order to flash.
im a little confused to what your trying to do exactly. are you trying to s-off but cant because of your software version?
sorry just a lot to read with files and links lol.
pushing your boot.img through adb wont do anything.
Hi,
I am not sure if this will work, but go to my signature and get 4EXT.
This can be installed from your home screen.

Ok when you compress you don't have to name it update.zip or pg58 file.
Just compress and place in you clockworkmod/backups then in recovery volume down to backup/restore and find your file you placed and select yes. That's how you restore your backup check back with me
Ima get you through this

Unfortunaltly, I haven't got clockworkmod recovery on my phone. But only stock recovery (who seem doesn't work...)
Because I have the version 1.17.0005 of bootloader, I can't install it...
So, I there an other solution for use those files?
Or is there an other solution for install clockworkmod on my phone or root my phone??
Finaly, I found alone the solution for solve my problem.
My problem was :
- An old hboot version (1.17.0005) was installed on my phone after used an old vodafone's RUU (1.23.163.1) found on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
- With 1.17.0005 hboot version, it was impossible to use revolutionary.io for tuen S-OFF the HTC Sensation
- Impossible to install an other version of Vodafone's RUU
- Impossible to install an other recovery
Solution :
- After a long time, I found on japanese site this official RUU (stock rom SFR/Vodafone FR 2.3.3) : RUU_Pyramid_Vodafone_FR_1.24.163.1_Radio_10.39.9007.00P_10.11.9007.09_M2_release_190763_signed.exe
- I install it and after that, my hboot was in 1.17.0006 version!
- So, I can use revolutionnary for S-OFF my phone, root itand be super CID!
I wasted long time for found this RUU, so, I uploaded it on filefactory. For download it : RUU_Pyramid_Vodafone_FR_1.24.163.1_Radio_10.39.9007.00P_10.11.9007.09_M2_release_190763_signed.exe

The script for permissions runs either every few hours or everyday. Wait till it updates your permissions.
I wanted to flash to ARHD 6.3
This is my first time.. I managed to S off.. But then the bootloop began after I flashed PG58IMG.zip via fastboot.
Step 1. To S-OFF your Sensation - (You do not need to do this if you have S-off already or done this before) - WORKING NOW for TMOUS users
Visit
download the application for your operating System. AND EXTRACT IT TO A FOLDER
YOU MAY NEED TO DISABLE YOUR ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM- Norton is flagging up Revolutionary as a Virus when it isn't
IMPORTANT
Fill out the form under the download links with your OS, Device, Hboot Version and Serial number. This will give your beta key to enable you to S - OFF. Make a note of this.
How To get your Hboot Version - 3 methods below
1. [/url] and if it has found your device it should read
"Found your Device: HTC Sensation Z710* Applications -> Development)
4. With the phone switched on (not in HBOOT, just the regular home screen), plug in your USB cable and select HTC sync mode.(IGNORE any warning messages on your phone telling you it cannot find HTC Sync )
5. Launch revolutionary.exe. It should detect the phone and ask for your beta key. Type it (BE CAREFUL, as its case sensitive) or copy and paste it in.
If Revolutionary fails to find your phone verify you have all the drivers installed, try disk drive mode or charging mode (Linux users can use disk drive mode. Confirmed to be working by others)
6. Once you have entered your beta key correctly, follow any on screen prompts or actions from revolutionary and wait for it to S-Off,
7. You're done. Your Device will Successfully have S-OFF....if it hangs on method 3 and doesn't S-Off. See post 2 below for solutions.
IF REVOLUTIONARY SAYS FAILED YOUR PHONE IS NOT SUPPORTED. Go back and check hboot using the methods above. some users are told its failed and they still have S off now. If you have S-off your hboot will now be 1.17.1011 and revolutionary will tell you now your device is not supported
8. Revolutionary will now ask you to Install clockwork recovery mod after S OFF. Type N and install it manually below (the recovery provided is v4.0.1.4 doesn't charge when device is switched off, the one below v5.0.0.1 does charge)
9. Your Device now is S-off.
To install clockwork recovery for the sensation. Follow step 2!
STEP 2. To INSTALL Recovery - v5.0.0.8
1. Download recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation HERE: or Multiupload
2. Copy the PG58IMG file into the Root folder of your SD card (The main Folder of your Memory Card)
3. Turn off your phone FUlly and reboot into the Bootloader/HBOOT screen (see post above on how to get to hboot screen)
4. Press Volume up to Accept when it asks" Do you want to start the update"
5. Press Power Off to Reboot back to android after installation is successful (normal screen with homescreen)

good question..
immediately after s off, i boot into my ROM and tried to install busybox and other apps that requires superuser or root but failed and stating that my device was still not rooted..
so i proceed to install a recovery (in this case its ext4 recovery) but failed to find a .zip installer (but managed to find the .apk and .img version but afraid to proceed considering the extension wasn't the same as per guide's PG5...ZIP). so i tried to simply install cwm as per stated in the guide. coz i know after recovery is installed, only then i would be able to install the su zip files.
then it boot looped.. n here we are trying to shoot all of these troubles.. XD
and if my understanding was wrong, pls correct me. thanks!
only after you sent me the links i managed to install ext4 recovery via a much easier method using cmd.exe..
n that also means that i wasn't even able to follow through the supercid part of the guide..

wait a moment, i dont know if things are making more sense to me but, is it possible that this was caused by a wrong firmware? i just figured out my cid and its htc_044 and there are 4 different version of firmware for this cid, so should i try each of it until my phone boots to my original ROM?
Update: Oh God, I'm in such a relief! Thank God it works now. I flashed the firmware 1.17 n now am able to boot back into my ROM. Now i'm gonna get things backed up n will proceed. phew thanks so much for helping me out. The cause was maybe the zip files werent compatible with mine. So i check my cid n mid, n downloaded what might be the original one. so now its fixed..
noob here...
i have a sensation (TMO version) on stock ics. i got it unlock through HTCdev and even S-Off using juopunutbear's guide. but when trying to use the All-In-One program.. during the GET TOKEN part, the device can't be found.
don't know what to do after that..
also, i read about doing a nannoid backup, but at which stage should i do that? i'm totally lost... plz help~ i would love to put JB on here.

Hi,
If you are s-off,you have no need for a Token.
Place the ROM on the root of your sd card
Just make a nandroid in recovery(look for "Backup")
Then,wipe phone and install ROM

ok.. thanks. but when i do a backup, will it be stored in the microSD?
also, when i DL the rom, there's also a zip for for the google apps. i put both into the microSD, but how to install the google app zip file? or does the rom install it automatically?
finally, once all is installed, can i delete both the rom and the google app zip from microSD?
sorry for the lengthy questions..

Hi,
Nandroid is stored on sd card.
Are you installing CM ROM?
If so,download the ROM and Gapps and place on the root of the sd card.
Wipe the phone,install ROM,then,install Gapps.
Once it is all installed, you can delete the ROM and Gapps from your sd card.

Hi,
What recovery do you have?
If you have 4EXT,then,go to wipe and format all partitions except sd card.
Gapps is a zip like the ROM.
Go to install ROM,choose ROM and select the ROM.
When that has finished, then,do the same with Gapps.
USB debugging is not necessary.

actually i don't have any recovery created yet. i've installed the 4EXT, but when trying to run it.. it tells me the following:
it seems your Rom wasnt rooted yet!
this app needs root access to work. If this isn't an error you'll be unable to use it!
but my phone is unlocked and s-off.. so i thought that's rooted?

Hi,
Look HERE
4A. Flashing Root
i must be doing something wrong for sure. i looked into 4A and realized that my recovery that was installed was the TWRP on from the all in 1 kit. when i went back into the all in 1 kit to install the 4EXT, everything went through, but when i try to go into recovery, it just end up rebooting it self back to home screen and won't let me go into 4EXT to do what i need to do for 4A.

Hi,
Use the guide I gave you.
2. Flashing a recovery.
Flash 4 EXT again.
i think my mistake was assuming the HTCdev unlock = root.
cus now i see i should've HTCdev unlock -> root -> JB guide. but instead i just went from unlock to JB guide without rooting.

if you have now unlocked bootloader then flash 4ext recovery as it was mentioned before
and flash this zip from recovery
http://download.chainfire.eu/310/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip
then if you still want to S-OFF follow this guide

Hi guys, a few day ago my One SV had some problems, rebooting itself and runs very slowly; so i tryed to do something like root it, but not knowing what i'm doing 'cause i don't have much time.
Probably installing a wrong rom, now I'm stuck in the bootloader with S-ON Tampered, Locked, and Security Warning flags.
The phone stuck with htc logo, i only manage to go into bootloader, pdanet gives me sync error, twrp recovery doesn't work anymore.
Is there something I can do now?

As long as your device is Locked, you can't flash a custom recovery.
So unlock your device at htcdev.com, flash Twrp recovery and flash back a working rom.
Use a Android 4.1.2 rom, otherwise you will have problems with noisy sound.

How do you mount the sd?
At least pull it out of your device and put it into your PC and copy needed files in this way.
One thing i could not solve earlier (because of bad internet connection): did you already install the Android 4.2.2 update or what was your software running on your device before? Thats important to give you the right rom for your firmware!
I'll give you the links anyway:
4.1.2 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2254384
4.2.2 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512742
Rumrunner & moonshine are confirmed working for your hboot, but which you should use at least also depends on your previous software.

Im sorry That error is from the twrp recovery when i try to install superuser.. It says unable to mount int sd.. I think internal memory
Ignore it. Only use the files, recommended in my index thread (use SuperSu, not Superuser), link in my signature.
And answer the other question.

I installed the 4.2.2 versions, seems completed but phone remains with black screen showing only the top bar with the clock, then reboot itself; sometimes after reboot it shows the bottom clock and lock, you can also unlock it, but then it reboots;
One time it shows me the backgroud.
Maybe it's a motherboard problem, what do you think?
Thanks

You checked md5sum of the roms? Using latest TWRP recovery?

the recovery say to me no md5 file, is this the problem?
How can I check the md5 now?
I don't know the name of the tool (i'm at work), but you will find it with google search, i think.
In recovery this is not a problem, its only to check on your pc, if the downloaded file is the same as the upload.
