Well they separated them for a reason, so I'd assume you should stick with the forum that is associated for your phone just for safe measure.
Look for specific NS4G titles.

For root use the stickies at the top of the development subforum. For sense, buy an HTC phone. Its all AOSP here, the point of this phone is to have stock Android. Please familiarize yourself with the search feature or do some good old reading.

Sense is also closed source afaik, so you can't just port it. You need to rebuild it.
Apreichner is trying to do this btw

Uhh what's ruu?? Sorry I totally suck with this phone........

An ruu is a rom update utility. Basically u plug ur phone in and click start. The ruu flashes the phone back to stock.

Use this link it will take you through the whole process of unrooting and putting a phone back to a stock rom. Since I can't post any http information you will have to add that or google the information.

So my friend has an LG Connect for Metro PCS and now they have CWM. I was wondering how hard it would be to port a ROM for it. I've never ported anything so any help would be awesome!

From what I can say porting rom is not an easy matter, at all! especially for beginners
