Has anyone who updated their phone to 2.3.3 tried installing the APK in which one can video chat? I can do it on the Sensation and on the Samsung Exhibit and I am wondering if you guys have tried with any success on the G2x? Thanks!

No official skype app that is working. Hacked app, maybe. Oovoo has been working with froyo and the v21e update. Also, build.prop hack works.

Tried the hacked Skype App with video and it closes on me just before logging me in. It doesn't work for some reason. Oovoo works fine, but it worked on the Froyo as well.
Has anyone managed to make Skype video work on the new Gingerbread build?

Does anyone know how to fix it?
Please take a look at thread #68

Are you on 2.3.3?

I am on 2.3.3 latest 'official' build as released by LG the other day. The hacked Skype loads and installs ok, and works ok once you don't try to set it up to use video. Once you do, it just keeps closing.
I would LOVE to have the Skype video working, as I use it often. The only other issue that I have with Skype is that even with synch turned off, it keeps loading itself and connecting. WHY? Grrrr.... can anyone give me a setting to stop this?
In GB 2.3.3 of course!
DB
You might want to try this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.wetcarrot.stopskype
I have the same issue and even if you force stop Skype, still restart itself. They need to fix that! I would suggest sending an e-mail to developers.
Skype video doesn't work for me either:-(

Has anyone figured out how to make yahoo video messenger work from their ego to MAC or pc? I can hear the person on the other end but can't see their webcam.

I call my wife from my evo on both our mac and pc with no issue
Using video? Is there a trick to it?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
yes video and audio comes through just fine we use it when im out on the road alot and seems to work pretty good for being in beta and no no trick to it just load up the yahoo then click on the person you want to vid call and click vid call should be it.
That's crazy. I'll have to try it again. It has never worked for me but I haven't tried it in a while. My son lives out of the state and I talk to him on Skype but I was hoping there would be a phone to computer program I could use so I didn't have to be home for the calls.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
it still does not work.
works fine for me as well.
here are the two files ive been using install both but only update the video add on try that and report back.
You have to make sure the PC is using the newest version of yahoo as well V10 or above I think
Earlier someone asked if it worked with MAC. I tried but still does not work but i will try the apk from here.
Does anyone know of a fix for this issue. Fring only uses the rear camera on the GS4G. I don't know if any of the previous fixes for galaxy s phones will fix this problem or not. Insight?
I get the same issue when trying to use yahoo messenger and oovoo so far the only way to use the ffc to video chat is with qik which sucks but hopefully a developer will make a rom with this fix out hopefully samsung their self will fix the issue

Tango works with FFC but the receiving end shows the video vertical instead of horizontal or vice versa.

Hi to all, if any of u guys can check if Skype works on G2X. Thank you
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I too will like to know.
Why wouldn't it work? Are you talking about video calling? The app hasn't been updated for that yet. I know that the Thunderbolt leak that came out has a version that includes the video chat option. You could find that leaked file and pull the skype app out of it.

Yes, Skype works. It works over Wifi and over 3G on the G2X. Get the new version that released on the Market today.
But not with video. On Skype's site, the G2X is not "officially" supported.

I didn't make this work, I take no credit for it. I just distribute it to the masses. I found this on the Galaxy Tab forum and thought if it works on my Tab, why not my phone too? So I tried and it does! The video freezes when you switch to the back camera but other than that its seems to work fine. Have fun!

Someone reported that this doesn't work on froyo. Apparently after installing this on froyo the legit version couldn't be reinstalled. So proceed with caution.
Someone found a link to get it working on froyo. I haven't verify it works because I'm not on froyo.

UPDATE: First, i can't video call out, i have to receive it. Second, it forse closes when you try to answer with video. I'm running Bionix Black Ice and Bali 3.2UV. I would try Trigger but they're both KD1 based ROMs so i don't think it will change. I might flash KF2 just for this though.
Nope for me...
For me, on stock kd1 + root, it crashes skype as soon as I use video (initiate a video call, or touch the video icon). It won't receive video either when the other side starts their video.
PS: I already had skype installed (latest from Market), and even after uninstalling it would not install at first, giving a message about not enough available storage (even though there was plenty). The fix was to remove the /data/data/com.skype.raider directory that somehow was not removed when the app was uninstalled... The same was needed after uninstalling this one to go back to the Market version.

Works perfectly on KF2, thanks for telling everyone about this.
Has anyone tried mobile to pc calling? Or is this only mobile to mobile?

Not sure yet

I noticed it's a GB only thing or are people successful on froyo? Based on the official update it looks like a GB only app. Still skeptical about the kf2 leak but this and netflix would be well worth it for me.

To answer my own question I have no luck on stock froyo.

Don't update skype mobile!

Would be nice to see the old man when i am overseas.
Thanks!
you may try this(works on gingerbread):

plz note i have not personally tested this
I tried the Skype version linked above and on wifi, it worked great. Haven't tried it yet on 3G.
Have not tried Google
Skype work great for chat/calls, but video chat uses only the back camera for now till GB is out
If your going from mobile to mobile use Tango, it works flawlessly, and works with both cameras
Also qik video didn't fail me either

G talk works but the front facing camera sends your video feed horizontal when our should be verticle.
Qik seems to work the best for me although the speaker volume is low. I use my ear buds and the volume is usable.

Once GTG recovers from burnout, his Rogers-based GB ROM (which runs on AT&T phones) should become available again.
