Unfortunately the speed test app doesn't work properly on GB roms so those results are most likely inaccurate. Try going to www.speakeasy.net and clicking on the speed test from the phone's browser.
After several runs through opera on speakeasy.net I'm consistently getting 15-17 down but still only ~1 up. Though it's much later at night so internet congestion is less than it was when I was testing earlier today, the EE4 radios do indeed appear to be somewhat faster. I haven't made any phone calls since I just flashed this a few minutes ago, the only thing I've tested is 4G data speed.
Interestingly, I seem to be getting better speeds by several mbps through opera than the stock GC 1.8 browser. Can someone else confirm this isn't just my connection flaking?
Does anyone else want this because of a crackling hiss and pop during phone calls on EP1X?
Yeah, I will give that a try.....
One other thing I noticed is, My phone is getting a bit heated. Current temperature is at 41 'C. I will keep monitoring the temperature tonight and see if its a temporary issue as I've been doing lot of speedtests now....
I was getting 7mbps down with the ep1f radios, but now getting 13 down wither ee4. Tested with speakeasy.

OK...so when I did the speed test on speakeasy through the phone browser I got 13 mbps (EE4 radio), and did it one more time to test and still got 13. I just did a test again but with wifi tether 3.1 b1 (w/infrastructure) on my computer and got 21 mbps (tested 5 times). I dont know whats going on.....
Thanks for all of the hard work kejar, I love gummycharged. How can we go back to the EE4 from the EP1F? Is it something we unzip and flash through odin, or can it be done through recovery?
Thanks!
unzip and flash through odin.
radio battery life
I'm running GB Eclipse 1.2 with baseband/radio EP1F , and I'm wondering if this'll improve battery life? Anyone notice improved battery life for this setup?
Seems to have helped mine somewhat. At work I am in a basement and before I was at -105 dBm. After flashing this I am at -90dBm. 4G Will not make it down here though

Sorry- I'm new so I can't post in the development section but I'm using the 4.3 versions of Adrynalyne's kernels and I'm getting slower donwload speeds and much slower upload speeds (closer to 500k). When I flashed back to the stock kernel the dl and upl speeds went back to normal. Anybody else getting this?

Kernel has absolutely nothing to do with your network speeds. That was likely a fluke.
Network speeds are affected by a number of things-signal strength and network congestion being the biggest factors.
Do several tests different times of day and you will see that 3g can vary from 30 to 2100 kbps download speeds. As for 4g.. Idk what typical speeds are, but it will have a similar range.
via Incredible Redemption
Thanks AdhvanIt for the response but I tried testing them within minutes of flashing kernels and did numerous tests. With stock kernel I was getting about 8-12mbs donwloads and believe it or not upwards to 25+ mbs uploads (and that's consistently) while with the Adrynalyne's ROMS (using different versions- a-c) I was getting about 3-6 mbs downloads and 1-2 mbs uploads. Granted 3-6 is good enough but the disparity between 3-6 and 8-12 for uploads and 2 and 25 is quite a difference. You mention that kernels have nothing to do with speed but I was wondering if undervolting has any effect on the radio? Is anybody else having donwload/upload issues?
The upload speeds on the speed test app are completely wrong. If anything, the Adrynalyne kernel brought it closer to what it should be. Tether the internet from your phone to your computer, then go to the speed test web site. That'll show you what it should be.
Tried tethering (which always seems slower) and got the same results with the 4.a - 4.3 kernels. If anybody is trying this kernel are you getting the same results? I really love this kernel and Adrynalyn's work is always top notch. I don't know if this is just my phone with maybe a bad radio?
that has to be the kernel.. check for updates... or try somthing different.

I'm all ears on the explanation of why it has to be.
Hi Adrynalyn. First, thanks for all of the work and time you put in. I can't post in the development thread or otherwise I would have posted this thread there. Also, thanks for checking in on the thread. Is it just my experience with the download speed using the 4.3 kernels? Thanks!
Im using his 4.3b and my speeds are fine. All his kernals have done well for me. As stated above 4g speeds should be around 7-12down and 4-6up. At least in NY that is the usual besides some slighty higher numbers once in a while.
I would redownload and try flashing again. Are you using rom manager to flash or going into recovery. I have done both and it seems fine...
Not to jack the thread... but
I am new and can't post in the dev section yet. Adrynalyn, just wanted to express my gratitude for all your hard work!!! Tried a couple other ROM's, but just LOVE yours and came back within minutes of each experience...
In my strongest 4g LTE area I get 15/5 pretty regularly on adryns kernels and from what I understand thats all your really sposed to be seeing...
Thanks to you guys for responding- it looks to be unique to my situation then. I'm flashing via recovery. Would that make a difference? I'm in San Jose and I had been getting incredible upload speeds- frequently hitting above 30mbs. My donwloads have always been lower but flashing with these kernels I haven't been able to duplicate. Maybe it's because I'm using the stock but rooted ROM? Jrocker23- are you using the stock rom, too?
Yes, all I did was root via adb and added Adranalyne's kernals. Im running .06 stock. Also flashing from recovery should work fine. Are you using setcpu or running with the stock kernal speed?

Funny you say this because I am in the San Jose area and before would hit 15-30mbs and now with adryns~ 4.3a kernel I get only 3/1mbs @ speakeasy website. This is rather weird.. Let me try a different kernel and report back with speeds.
Smok3d-
I'm also from the San Jose area. I was getting blazing uploads but now I can't get it over 2mbs. Something to do with our area's towers? Smok3d- could you revert back to the stock kernel? I did and was getting the regular speeds- I wonder if that's it too?
Ok there is definitely an issue going on here with kernels and speeds.
I was using Teslacoil with the included kernel and my speed in 3G area was snappy, when running speed tests I'd consistently get around 1.5 meg.
Yesterday i flashed the latest Virus rom with recommended Ziggy BFS kernel, and i almost automatically noticed my speed was running considerabley slower. When running a speed test, I'd get only around 100 KB down.
So today, i flashed the latest Virus rom again but this time i flashed Imoseyon normal lean kernel on it and now my speeds are back to 1.5 MB.
Now i know that speed tests are not accurate when run from the phone itself, however, the difference in speed is so dramatic that you don't even need to run a speed test to notice it right away.

And what is it with adrynalyne kernel that is the problem? I would love to know. I'm running it and my real speeds are great. You are running speed tests, bet if you didn't you wouldn't even notice the speed. Just because you are getting a certain speed from a TEST doesn't mean you will get the same in real world performance. Do research or provide facts before you make statements you can't back up

L00k above at my post... I automatically noticed my speed was considerably slower before even running a speed test. Then i change kernels, and its magically back to normal.
I'm no dev, so i couldn't begin to explain what in the kernel would cause it. And just because you aren't experiencing the issue doesn't mean it doesn't exist for others. Who knows? Maybe it was just a bad flash or CWR didn't clean cache properly before flashing, anything is possible, but we should work together to bring resolution to issues that arise, even if it is just happening to some...

Hey, just seeing if anyone has a fix for this. I am using the new nameless rom and it is amazing BUUUUTTTT my data speeds are only about 5mbps when I was getting 26mbps prior. I switched back to straight stock and it still is slower than I would like. Any advice on what I can do?
I have heard on a couple of threads that the speedtest.net app doesn't work right with this leak. Try using the speak easy website and do a speed test off that to see if your speeds change at all
Also this probably should be in the general section not the development section.

Not to say that you are wrong, but the kernel itself won't effect your data speed. If 4G turns on and is functional in the sense that you are able to use the 4G network, then the kernel is working as it should. It's possible that your area put a cap on the speed you were seeing, and now you are not seeing it. However, if you flash another kernel and are back up to the speed you were seeing, then I will definitely investigate.

I'm with him. Radio/modem would affect data speed, not kernel.
Has anyone tried the EE4 radio's I released yesterday?
I have read everywhere that 2.3.4 does not like speedtest
Kudos to this thread not getting roasted. I'm jealous. Especially in the development section.
Sorry, I put a new last night. The ep1h radio. I am going to try Kejar's EE4 radio tonight and hopefully that will fix it!!!
The EP1H radio will fix your problem and you'll be able to keep the GB leak, as you can flash the EP1H radio-only via Odin.

I have been running it all day and it's been working just fine. No more static when I receive phone calls. Thanks a ton for the EE4 radios.
Speedwise, running speed test from speedtest.net from my labtop via wireless tether, I'm seeing speeds of 10Mbps down and 1.3Mbps up. The speed differences for me in my area are the same from both the ep1h and ee4 radios. I ran 5 sets of test for each radio to the same server.

I didn't mean that gingerbread in general i just meant it seamed off using the speedtest app in these leaks. When i used the website i always averaged 3 or 4 extra mps down and about .5 to 1 mps up. I even used the same servers on both of them. I also heard the same for others but when i compared the website speed for the leaks to the speedtest app of froyo(EE4) they usually matched each other. So i have just been blaming the app for the mix up.
I've tried several different ROMs, as well as several different battery saving apps, but I keep running into the same problem with my Droid Charge - after a certain amount of time with the mobile network off, it will not turn back on without either a restart or a toggle of airplane mode. There has to be a bug in the software design, as the same issue occurs with Greenpower, Juice Defender, 2x, and Tasker. I've been on stock, Humble ROM, and am currently on Eclipse, but none of these ROMs have fixed this issue.
Are there any developers out there who can fix this issue? I get almost 20 hours of battery life when I use Juice Defender (compared to about 7 hrs without it), but I can't keep restarting my phone and toggling airplane mode in the middle of the day.
Any suggestions or fixes? I know that many are experiencing the same issue, but it never seems to get addressed.
You're more likely to get an answer to your question if you post it in the correct section -- development is for releases and tutorials; Q&A goes in General (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074281).
From what I have read, you cant really use Juice Defender or other similar apps with the charge. For some reason, when those apps turn off the radio, it won't always come back on. Sometimes a reboot fixes it and sometimes not.
This is a radio issue so I don't think a rom can fix it. I tried Juice with EE4 and it worked if you did not disable the radio but battery savings is almost non-existent. I have not tried it on EP1Q though. I am lucky to get 10 hrs on my battery.

I've had good results running Juice Defender with 3G where the radio comes back pretty much all the time. 4G doesn't fair nearly as well, not coming back about 30% of the time.
I tend to use 3G most of the time, only switching to 4G when I need the insane speed (tethering or Netflix watching). The battery life is much better.

Which radio are you using? EE4? or EP1Q?
As far as EE4 goes, I also agree that JuiceDefender is too inconsistent to run since the data always drops out. However, when I ran the full EP1F/EP1H (I forgot which one I flashed to) GB leak awhile back just to try out, JD was actually working quite well to at least a 90% consistency in restoring data after unsleeping my phone. Unfortunately with all the other bugs going on with the GB leaks I reflashed back to EE4, and now I've flashed to the EP1Q modem only. I've yet to try JD with the EP1Q modem, but I'll give it a try later today.

Scroll down a bit on his twitter feed and you'll find it. Be sure you download the correct 0.13.3 version since 0.13.5 is unstable and will cause bootloops on your phone.
The only instance I've run into issues so far with is music streaming. It seems my GMusic and Pandora will randomly have popping sounds while streaming music. It's nothing too major for me but just in case anyone was wondering why they could be getting it.

Best battery - Good signal - Good speeds - KI3
Average battery - Good signal - Best speeds - KK1
Great speeds for me on kk2 best so far going to use it for a few days to see about the battery.
i wish i could update the poll to include the newer modems...
KK1
KK2 using Richmond, VA server works best in the VA area but has issues with text character amount. Best well rounded modem in the area is KK1
I haven't done any speed tests, but judging on signal strength and battery life alone:
Running Galnet MIUI, KK3 gives me the best signal and battery life.
Running Samsung ROM's, KI3 gives me the most consistent signal.
All Infuse modems individually packed into CWM flashable packages (old at top and new at bottom):
* CWM-UCKI3
While flashing it says KE3, but after flashing check in settings, and it would say KI3.
* CWM-UCKI4
* CWM-UCKJ1
CWM-UCKJ2
CWM-UCKJ3
CWM-UCKJ4
CWM-UCKJ5
SGS CWM-UVKH1
SGS CWM-UVKH2
SGS CWM-UVKJ6
* CWM-UCKK1
(Has better signal and speeds than KI3, at the cost of significantly higher battery drain.)
* CWM-UCKK2
* CWM-UCKK3
* CWM-UCKK4
(Has signal and speeds on par with KI3, maybe slightly better too, for me, and battery drain is on par with KI3. I hardly use GPS, so didn't test it.)
* CWM-UCKL2
(Amazing battery life, and getting best speeds so far compared to any modem. GPS has a dead lock on and beautiful accuracy.)
* CWM-UCLB1 (14 Feb 2012) Observations
Stolen from dman's post. So all credit goes to him. Read on the same thread where I stole modem from that this modem does not have the 160 char limit for SMS.

Are you getting the 4 hour clock moving ahead issue with date and time settings set to auto? How about GPS? I got better speeds, no clock moving ahead issue, and GPS too works pretty good.
The time is accurate, and there is no problem with that, GPS gets a lock in 3 miniutes when I'm sitting inside my 2nd floor apartment next to the window. I think that's pretty good that I can get a GPS lock inside.

I think I found them over in Galaxy S section. They work on infuse too.
Oh sweet. Any word on KK2?
Also, anyone try the SGS modems? Do they work well? Would SGS2 modems work on the infuse?

I did . All modems I listed are only after I tried them.
I got the 4 hour clock jump when set in auto update mode. If you are comfortable with time in manual mode, you could try all the modems, including SGS ones.
Would like to try out k2 anyone got .zip?

Found KK2 modem I think. Posting it here. Any adventurous person can try it out and let me know. I made this CWM flashable zip with the modem from KK2 rom.
Please download your current modem too to revert back in case this one does not work. After flashing please check settings-->about to verify its KK2 modem in there.
KK2 modem - untested by me
Updated OP with KK2

Am back to KI3. KK1 was awesome in all aspects except that it had higher battery drain in standby.
I noticed drain too on K1, gonna flash K2 tonight and charge it overnight then try it tomorrow.
