I have both a Vibrant and a Galaxy S 4g. The Vibrant had a broken screen and I got the 4g while waiting for parts.
On the Vibrant, when I connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable, Windows shows two external drives, the internal SD card and the external SD card. On the 4g, Windows only displays the contents of the internal SD card. I used the same external SD card on both phones.
I have tried reformatting the external SD card but it still does not show up in Windows Explorer for the 4g phone.
the sgs4g will only display 1 drive and that should be the ext sd card it does not display internal.
vibrant shows two because the internal is 16gb and it show external cuz its an ext sd card
The one it displays looks like the internal sd card, because the external card just had music and some backup files on it. The phone seemed to be seeing the external card though, because all of the music was there.
you only the external memory on the sgs4g. all of your music is stored on your sd card, which is why you can see it.

Why has it split it in to two? Disk E and J?
Like I have to move everything from ym SD card to the external instead of just picking things off of my SD. coming from the nexus this has confused the hell out of me.
when you connect usb .. it mounts the internal drive (disk on the phone) and the external drive (the actual physical sd card)
Same thing happens with my nook color. In essence, it's mounting both the internal and external (sd) media.

You see both USB connected, but in recovery only one. Test2 recovery mounts and shows the external - I believe test1 showed the internal.
I have my internal 16 gb all filled up about 95% and I bought a micro sd card which arrived today.
I began transferring media to the micro sd card under /removable/microsd/ and was able to transfer about 1gb so far of the possible 16gb.
i noticed when i would start a file transfer, i would get a pop up message saying the file "may be copied to the device for storage or transport use only. it is not supported for use on the device itself. if possible, use a media program that can convert the file before copying it. if you copy the file now, it will be stored on the device, but may not be presented in the device user interface."
however, i would get an error after saying theres not enough free space on the device when i began transferring my media.
wtf is going on and how do i transfer my media to the micro sd?
plug it into your PC and copy it to your PC then to microSD
yes, my tablet is hooked up to my pc. that is wherein lies the error messages i'm getting.
so it looks like when i cleared my micro sd and my internals and tried again it worked.
1) first i loaded my media onto the micro sd first
2) then i was able to transfer media to my internal storage
i find this strange because i was having errors loading to the micro sd card after my internal storage was filled up.
Where did you bought the microSDHC card? Did you tested it to full capacity and see if it's genuine?

I also get a message when trying to copy files to the microSDHC card (inserted in the TF) from the PC, but I just click to continue and they copy just fine.
yeah its real. transcend 16gb micro sdhc class 6 straight from amazon.
before i just bypass the message notification (hence loading about 2gb of media onto my micro sd).
when i tried to transfer more, i would get an error saying my storage was full. seems to be fluky.
Hi,
I can use my 16GB micro SD in the pad itself, but if I try to use a regular SD card it doesn't mount. Not even if I remove the micro SD. Is this a known issue, or is it just something with mine?
Cheers!
of what capacity is the regular sd card? I think (might be wrong) that the dock doesn't support certain capacities of cards. I have only ever used a microsd card in an adapter in the dock and that worked fine. Have you tried a reboot with the card in? can you see it in the file manager at all? I found that, when I can't mount a card, that switching file managers will work about 95% of the time.
I hope that helped a little bit
I bought sd card few days ago
i have a lot of stuff on it
its connected to my keyboard
whenever i connect my keyboard to my computer i see how much memory i have on my micro SD on my Internal storage but not on my SD and i cant transfer anything to it
any thoughts?
Hello I an running a Droid Z2 Force. I have several cameras in which store pics/vid on SD cards. I generally use the Samsung EVO Select 32GB cards. I have a USB C to USB A 3.0 adapter. And a USB 3.0 card reader.
I have been using the native File Manager version 4.0.27.
I transfer the pictures from the SD card via the card reader to an SD card that resides in my phone. Also a Samsung EVO Select.
On multiple occasions I have experienced file loss. I perform the file transfer with the native file manager by selecting the folder on the SD card that is in the reader, selecting move to, selecting the folder on the SD card in phone that I want the files, and selecting paste. Occationally once completed the folder with pictures/videos is not on either SD card. They are totally lost.
Also the transfer speed is extremely slow. Painfully slow.
What is the best file manager for USB OTG file transfer like I am doing? I want something reliable that won't loose my pics. And something that will xfer quickly.
Also does it matter if I use Fat32, NTFS, or exFAT for the SD card? Currently I believe I'm using Fat32 but I will have to double check.
If I have left out any needed information please ask and I will supply it.
Bump
Use the 'copy' function instead of move, could be damaged sd card, bad card reader or anything.
