I bought a LG Optimus t (used, but in excellent condition) for my son. It's stock 2.2.
My question is can I root it and what is the simplest way to do it?
one word
gingerbreak
you can find the apk using a google search. google is your friend. if you update to 2.3.3 which was released today as stock rom, that wont work. im currently finding a working method to root the new release.

I have tried Z4Root and no luck. I have sw version 2.2.2 and have tried downgrading but no luck. Any info on rooting this phone? Any and all help would be great!
Thanks.
Been looking for an answer to this for awhile too. Friend of mine has one and can't seem to find much for this phone...
Super One Click
I used SuperOneClick for my LG optimus 2x, maybe you can use this to.
Yeah, Z4Root will work on the Optimus U but you have to be on 2.2 and not 2.2.2. Now, however, cannot seem to find any customer roms or recoveries....
I used gingerbreak on my LG optimus one and it worked like a charm
"LG OPTIMUS U" people
I currently have the LG Vortex, Android 2.2, and it seems as though Verizon has an update out -$Link to verizon forums - PM me for link& - According to them i need to come here. The update is fairly big, involves an OS update as well as other enhancements. But when i attempt to run the update it fails, and i cant help but think its because of my rooted phone (z4). Am i just S.O.L for the update or can i do it another way?
If you rooted and then removed stock apps, you are SOL for the OTA. To get the OTA, the update program looks to match to the original stock apps (City ID, VZ Navigator, etc) If you removed any stock apps, the update will fail.
Try heading over to the Vortex forum and look through the ROMs there. Chances are there is a CWM flashable zip version of it that will let you get past this problem.
Good luck.
Im not seeing a forum specificaly for the LG vortex, im assuming i need to get into one of the optimus forums?

afaik no optimus phone is compatible with the lg vortex
Hi,
I've just bought this phone, givenmy LG Optimus one was stolen some months ago. Actually I'm really happy with it, but I'm seeing there is not a big community around this new phone. I actually obtained root permissions, and I'm looking for a custom recovery for it.
Actually, I think the O1 recoveries won't suit for this, so I'd be glad if someone could help me creating/contacting who can create it. It's a very important step to do in order to give this new device some bright life
Thanks,
Jst
i have a question, how were you able to root your optimus net? I'm desperate to root mine.

Hi,
I was wanting to root my T-mobile LG G2x and I found a previous forum but it don't know if the methods will work due to the forum rooting for a 2.3.3. G2x were I have the new update that is 2.3.4 will the same method work for the update or is there a different way to do it, or would the program unlockroot work to do the rooting?
here is the forum I found:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255214
and is the legit site for Unlock root?:
http://www.unlockroot.com/index.htm
Bump. Did you ever figure it out? I'm having the same problem.
I flashed my phone that had 2.3.4 with a stock rom and was able to go from there.
Let's get one thing straight I am not at all a pro at this.
What led to me flashing stock was my dumb ass flashing my phone with a p990 version. XD

Hey everyone,
A month ago today, I rooted my old LG Optimus One with the Gingerbreak APK.
Is there a way to UnRoot the phone, just as easy as I rooted the phone?

My personal opinion is to use SuperOne Click rather than going for KDZ updater. As using KDZ updater can also brick your phone if you remove your battery in emegency mode.
