[Q] Do I need to flash a stock baseband? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Do I need to flash a stock kernel?
I've been on Prime 1.6 and other roms and just went to the pure root stock rom and noticed that my baseband says "unknown".
Will this cause issues?

You're using a Transformer. There is no 3G model present. So there is no baseband.
Everything's normal.

thank you....I guess I just never noticed...that's embarassing.

It's all good. That's what XDA is all about, learning from each other
The 3G version of Transformer is expected to come out next month if you're interested. I still don't see a purpose for having a 3G/4G-contracted tablet though.
We all have enough bills as it is already, we don't need another. Tethering ftw!

My thoughts exactly!!

[UPDATE 11.22]2.32.651.2-rootable!! + info-

2.32.651.2 is available. I got a new hero today and updated OTA to the new software. then I applied this root method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804296
ive been deleting much bloat. the update has a new baseband, new software, new PRI. kernel is the same. im sure theres more that i dont know about.
This update makes it feel fast and responsive. To me-a little smoother than the last .7 official.

sorry i can't tell you one or the other; however, i was curious why you're jumping on a hero instead of something like the lg optimus s which is cheaper and has gotten great reviews?
one obvious negative of picking another device is that the community isn't quite there for it yet, but... i know it is rooted at least.
also, if it's a matter of price, two of my brothers ordered their evo's from this site:
http://ordersprint.cellbenefits.com/ind/sprint/devices.html
the prices seem unreal, to be honest. but it might be worth looking at what they have available. much cheaper than direct from sprint and the lg ends up being $50 in your pocket after contract, rebates, and/or giftcards.
anyway, just a thought. i do love my hero, but this late in the game, i'd be looking to snag a slightly more modern device. or, maybe you could find one to buy from people in the forum. i know a lot of people have been upgrading recently (i'm up in a week or so, but plan to wait until after ces before i buy a new phone).
sorry for the off-topic question!
/rant
they replaced my hero with a new one

Ah.. I see.
Well, thanks for the update. Good to know that root is still available!

i flashed nfinite's .7 update 3.1 odex version after all that. device retained the baseband and pri versions. if i try the ota update to the new software, i get the triangle exclamation point. when i press menu, im at clockworks menu. id like to have the latest software but a new baseband is good too.
Any way to get the update other than OTA?
I'd like to have the new PRL and Baseband as I run CM.
Thanks.

prolly not until someone extracts it. i dont know much about it.
I knew about 2.31.651.7 OTA, but didn't realize there was another. I am still running .6 with an odexed basically stock ROM (see sig).
So, really better performance, or just a bit? Any difference on mflops, or other specifics?

.7 is the best stock update so far and this new update seems a little more responsive.

I have finished rooting the new update and I can say that the SuperOneClick method works as well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Rom Manager went on fine too.
Edit: My bad, I lost root after booting. I will try your root method. Sorry
Getting the S-off again is now trickier due to the new radio baseband.
why not pull the update off your phone change the script a little sign and flash through recovery
so the new update is worth keeping? I was planning on rooting my device to get the wifi sharing option that 2.2 has but i wasn't thinking and let the new ota update go through the other day. the only difference i've seen is more lag and more battery usage. opinions?
The only way to get WiFi sharing on the hero is through rooting the hero does have a native usb tether but u have to pay for any data u use on it

Super one click worked to root the phone after the update to HTC Hero (Sprint) Maintenance Release 2.32.651.2.
Got the download on this site, just search for the super one click method.
Thanks XDA.
So lets see if I get this right;
I'm using cm6 exblue. If I want the new baseland and prl I have to go back to stock sense unroot apply the update and then root again with super1click and flash my cm6 backup. Is that how it goes?

no. you can flash the radio through either s-off bootloader or recovery, and there isn't a new prl. 60671 is still the latest.

(Q) new updated baseband

Can someone please make a flashable zip of the new baseband/modem available in the new update.
Don't feel like updating the whole rom completely, just the baseband to see if it solve signal issues!
Thanks.
....
I'm also mostly interested in the baseband update. Is that captured in a nandroid update or does one need to use a flashing utility to update that?

Please I would also appreciate if someone could do this. Many of us who have attempted the update had it fail and are now left with phones that only boot into recovery or S/W Update...
So your device is unusable? It's ok as long as you can get into recovery your ok....

Last I checked they had it but they won't publish it UNTIL they get a good working stock baseband.
Right now the best bet is to flash the official via the LG updater, then reflash whatever rom you want. It's been tested to work correctly with CM7.
They are just making sure they don't screw everyone with a bad flash

i never get above edge in my house. i'm on the border of buffalo right by lake erie. i can see canada, so i'm also on the edge of tmo's signal. outside my home, i would sometimes get 4g.. and that is still the same. throughout the city, i get 4g most everywhere. maybe it improves others signal strength. and maybe it improves battery life. but my phone is plugged in alot, so hard to comment on that. all in all, i guess i answered none of your question lol. sorry.

Just do a Nandroid backup of your current config. Restore a stock Nandroid. Update using the LG updater. Then restore your CM7 backup.
Time consuming process but it'd work. You'd be back using your existing CM7 config and the new Baseband.

3G on Xoom no longer working after flashing Tiamat ROM

Hi everyone.
I've bought my Motorola Xoom 3G 32GB from the internet and it came with the "international" firmware.
3G used to work all fine with any carrier I try until I flashed Tiamat ROM for all the advantages it supplies.
It just can't find a carrier (which is probably US Verizon).
Is there any way I can regain my 3G back?
Well its been a couple days. Has the 3g kicked in yet by itself?
I went ahead and unlocked my zoom yesterday and when it booted back up I didn't have 4g service kinda like you.
I tried finding some APN settings but the xoom wont let me edit them anyways. By the end of the night I went back to try and fix it again and I noticed it had connected again by itself.
I would try calling the carrier you prefer and get them to reset the APN. Moto might do it if you leave out the rooting part.
If its like phones it might be a case of flashing the multiCSC. Because on my old captivate the multicsc was the international unlock you described.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Well, I'm in this state for moths and still didn't regain my 3G back.
And, is there any way I can re-flash the files which determine the carrier alone?
Or alternatively, isn't there a way to manually compile Tiamat ROM with the international build files for universal support?
well you could go back to stock and that should work to get 3g-
I really like this ROM and don't want to go back to original.

Look in the Development Section. TeamEos ICS Nightly is now available for 3G/4G...not sure if it supports international 3G yet, but they're working on it. The ICS rom, while still in alpha/beta stage (missing binaries for cameras) is stable and smooth and has tons of functionality.
Thanks okantomi!
I hope this ends my dilemma (fingers crossed).

[Q] Searching for Service

I haven't found any answers on this, but once or twice per day my phone will be stuck on Searching for Service even though in the status bar, it shows like 3 bars of 3G or 4G. Data still seems to work, but this seriously drains the battery. I'm on stock unrooted HD. Any advice is appreciated. I already tried a new SIM. I bought this phone here on xda, no box, so I doubt Verizon would let me exchange it.
I know this is a silly question but what radio is installed?

VRLG7 is a downgrade in release but does not hurt to reflash any of the modems to see if it fixes problem and which works better for your area. Affects 3G more than it does 4G..

Maybe root it and try a custom kernel, though I'm not positive that will help. Possibly a total wipe and reinstall of a stock system? If you bought it from someone here on xda, chances are it has seen some mods. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the subject will chime in for ya. I just hope you didnt buy someone else's problem... :-\

I got it and it had never been rooted before. I rooted it, used custom ROMs, they all weren't my cup of tea, so I unrooted and flashed the stock HD images via ODIN yesterday. I just flashed the HE radio, and it seems to at least be a bit better. I'll keep experimenting.
It's still dropping signal. Sounds like I'll be calling up Verizon tonight.

Uhh.. yeah don't dial *228 on a 4g phone. It could fry your SIM.
Well I did it and a samsung dialog box popped up and said, "HELLL NOOO. A SIM card does all dis crap."
So, right now I'm on unrooted stock HE, and while the problem seems to be less of an issue, it's still there. Any other suggestions?

Price check?

Hello everyone. I just wanted to check to make sure im getting a good deal here. Someone is on their way to me with a 32gb tf300 with dock, car charger, and boxes in supposedly near perfect shape. Is $280 usd still a good deal for a 32gb version? They will be here in an hour so any quick feedback is appreciated
Also, I know the screen isnt as good as the tf201 which I previously owned, but ill primarily be using it indoors to watch netflix on rather than my note 2. Im going to guess its more than fine for that purpose right? Ill likely be NRGizing it

Thats exactly what I was looking for. I wasnt sure how much the 16 and 32gb are going for Looks like I did get a deal indeed as mine is the 32Gb model ! Right now im running NRG's rom though. It was fully updated to 4.2 when I got it but luckily I found the TWRP specific to it that worked. I may take the time today and downgrade it though. Im not sure if its the BL or what but this thing is terribly laggy. It was worse with Cromix than with nrg's. Ive read everywhere that people recommend doing the fastboot downgrade to 4.1 ( to get 4.1's bootloader i assume ).
Thanks all for your input

When i buy any electronic device on craigslist, i use the manufacturer's method for wiping it completely clean and starting over. For you, that would be factory reset from TWRP (include wiping internal sdcard) fastboot the latest official blob file from asus, flash TWRP and then install the ROM of choice. You never know what the other guy did with/to it :/

Already done my friend When I first got it, it was bone stock but fully updated to 4.2. Stock worked smooth but Cromi and NRG seemed to jitter / hiccup when i FINALLY got twrp working. Im thinking it had something to do with the bootloader and rom combo. I just used FB and went to 4.1 and installed TWRP 2.4.4.0 as that seems to be the combination that works well. Im currently downloading Cromi again to give it another go. What kernel are you using ?

Im running the Stock moddified 10.6.1.15.3 kernel on my own ROM. Granted there is SOME jitteryness, but in all honesty, it more than likely is the app. Facebook especially, it tries performing background tasks to update your news feed, and im not sure whats with them but they fail to use the dual core and higher of the device. 99 percent of the devices are dual core or higher, i find facebook to only wanna use the main core -.- causing the most amount of lag.
