So, i had an interview this morning for a job, and have an opportunity to earna great deal of brownie points with the business owners!
They were thinking of purchasing some sort of electronic signature capture device (like fedex or UPS has when you sign for a package) for invoices.. BUT.. I also mentioned my Droid Eris and how it can do so much... Turns out, both of the Owners have DROIDs lol..
Anyways.. I want to know if anyone has seen some sort of application that can capture signatures, and either save an image to be emailed, or email directly from the app..
OR does anyone know a DEV that could create something as simple as this, that I can talk to and relay updates on the APP to the owners of this company..
They seemed really interested in it, and I'm pretty positive it will show a good bit of initiative in saving their company money from the get-go (on my part)
It would be AWESOME to maybe have a custom app built, specifically for their company, but anything at this point (instant gratification method) would help!
Thank you guys in advance!

Sounds like a good idea but it seems like it would be difficult to sign on a capacitative touch screen.
Yeah i understand that part, but I think "finger signing" wouldn't be too bad.. Would there be a way to use some sort of "stylus" maybe with a specialized tip that would actually work on the capacitive touch screen?
I'm mainly just wondering.. I think it would be cool to be able to save thousands of dollars on expensive equipment by using what they already have, and just didn't know they could use it.
Signing would be doable if a person could write one letter at a time. I only really know this because of the google expressions application.
They have styluses for cap screens, My mom has one for her iPad. It was really cheap too
<goes to see if it works with nexus one>
Actually you can build your own. (I tried to post you a link to a how to, but I am not permitted to do so)
mooch
I like this idea, and I think I will work on it. I can't make any promises though, if I choose to do this I will start screwing around with it in the next few days. If you have any feature requests go ahead and post them here. Or you can email me at burlyskink (at) gmail dot com
I have seen a local cable install company use moguls for this purpose
There is a signature capture library available for Android. Search for 'biz.binarysolutions.signature' on the Market. I am not allowed to post links, but the developer's site is hiding behind bit.ly / scfahp
Am a Non-conformist, I don't try to follow the herd's travels in getting the Best looking customizing on my phone. I became really frustrated with my G2 over the past few days and I'll tell you why .
The G2 is the only phone that I have to go through different hoops in order to hack it to be able to install a custom ROM on it ! After all, the whole idea is to be able to customize it to begin with with some fancy screens and new apps. Every time a new ROM comes out, were all racing to get it installed and working on our devices and were left with a huge mess. Can you honestly remember what ROM you installed last week and have you forgotten what procedures to take before installing your New fancy Rom over it ?
Every time I come here and look at the ROMS being worked on, it seems that you have to follow that developers procedures in order to get it working and guess what, if you BRICK it, it's your own damn fault ! Ain't no one here to blame you for trying out that new fancy Rom, right !
What got me worked up was this, I received a picture from someone via mms and after previewing it on my G2, it closed the thread and took me to my list of sms threads and I still can't figure out how to save the damn picture to my phone !
Maybe, I just overlooked something and maybe I installed an app from the market that changed some small aspect regarding sms and mss messaging, I don't know and frankly, I dislike coming to any forum and having my intelligence questioned by some smart ass nerd who knows more then I do, only because he has the information to fix my problem but is not willing to share the solution until he makes himself Glorified.
Developers are indeed SMART and very SKILLED at what they do but it just seems to me that all it takes is just 1 individual to bring down the Fame and Glory because this 1 individual fails to follow instructions.
How about let's change all this to an idea I have.
An individual comes here with a NEW factory carrier phone, he wants to have it customized his way, He's willing to pay a certain developer to cook a BASE ROM, let's say $25.00 dollars and he likes it, Now he wants certain apps that make it work, let's say he's willing to pay $ 5.00 to 10.00 at the very least, depending on the apps usage. NOW, this NEW owner has his own phone customized to his liking, He's happy as a clam, right ? Maybe and maybe not.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas like this? Is it worth trying here ?
If developers had the time to handle your phone the amount of money you are suggesting would probably not buy that time. Also I think it is customary here to take donations and not payment for services. Sorry about your bad experience. Not all of the smart people here are so unrefined as the ones you encountered. Try to keep a cool head. Everything that happens to your phone after the instant it is rooted is ultimately YOUR PROBLEM, like it or not, and that goes for everybody, including smarty pants geeks! If your not a paid member you might want to consider becoming one. If you're new around here it probably couldn't help to have something going for you. If you think you got off on the wrong foot with somebody, PM them a well thought out apology, you might make a friend and get the help you need. Just a thought.
I have 2 requests. and i will pay a bounty on these. Name your price(be reasonable im the only one paying you) (open to making one reasonable large payment and the several smaller ones over the year as i know this will require a lot of work)
I am involved in a volunteer work with the deaf and hard of hearing, so i use my phone a lot to show videos and various other things. so i need it to be fully functional for all of this.
1st) There is an app on the itunes app store called cienega, I need this app stable on android or one that does the same thing. this will not be for just me but will actually get downloaded by hundreds of people, potentially thousands.
2nd) if anyone that can mod a video player either the stock or get the vlc player to work on a mobile device that will recognize chapter markers embedded in a video file. I have sample videos to work with so you can see what im trying to acheive.
My time is too occupied to focus enough on it to get it done. especially in a timely manner. Im willing to Pay $50 up front and work out whatever else we need to, to make it happen. please pm me here if you are interested. only serious legitimate developers need pm me. no novice or hey ill give it a shot kind of people, show me what youve done before, before you start trying to get me to pay you.
May be I'm posting in the wrong section..
The idea is:
We know the developers here are pretty smart people, and we all want our tablet run faster, better, smoother...
How many people will be agree to pay/donate to Xda team to develop a custom fully-functional, tested rom with "support" for us ?!
Let's say 100 ppl pay/donate $10 for custom android 3.0 rom for g-tablet. $1000 usd is reasonable price to have cool rom running, don't you think ?
This would be a cool benefit for the "users" and cool help for developers.
Any ideas?
Im in! I have been thinking of a way to say thanks. And whats better than money?
I have been working on a hand made leather personalized case for roobeet and i lmost have a functional prototype finnished but this would be for all the devs.
No point to it cause the developers here are already working on Android 6.5 (Double butter fudge salty nipples) Rom. No point in them going backwards.
Interesting point of view, Sm0k3d 0uT, still,i would pay for a fully functional rom.
try using the search function to find out why it ain't gonna happen.
it not about the money Honeycomb source is not out yet so there is no way to make a good rom right now. it would be a frankinstein rom and would probalby run like crap
It's not about Honeycomb. It was just and example.
I'm interested in your opinion. Will you pay for a custom build tested rom or not ? And would be nice to hear and answer form a developer, will our "support" help or not
Don't interpret usually getting better bundled apps in a specific roms with needing a specific rom to get better apps. Most roms do a fine job with running on the g-tablet as is. As for the apps, the market it there. The main issue with Android tablets so far it the lack of Tablet-friendly applications. Take angry birds and pulse news reader, they run just as well on a g-tablet foyo based rom as they do on honeycomb. In the end, the version of the OS itself really does not make or break a tablet.
There is room for improving the way we can navigate the OS on an Android tablet, and Honeycomb is a first step to address that and that will eventually be available outside of the xoom.
In the end, if you ask me, I would really prefer to have more tablet apps than a tablet-centric menu system.
I can actually respond, as a modder (I don't really call myself a developer)
I personally wouldn't accept the offer, and I will explain why -- most of us do this for fun and, even though we take the users requests and advise seriously, ultimately it's our ROM, with out own "vision". A perfect example is TNT Lite - I've had some really wacky requests on either extreme, but since I "own" the ROM ultimately I can make the decision on whether something stays or goes.
I do accept general "buy me a beer" donations, but so far no one has taken that as an opportunity to force my hand on a ROM change. Or asked me to give them personal support "above and beyond" like calling them directly (except once, and that person actually didn't donate - he just wanted phone service. Not kidding).
But even if the coffer were high and I was the only one working on it, I would not accept it because post-support is MUCH more difficult than just creating a mod. I really appreciate the power users here who handle a lot of the questions that drop in the site and actually help me to alleviate that support burden. I work in Operations and did customer service for many years, so I know how difficult this can be.
The last issue is that users will never agree on what changes to make. One will want a stock music player, one will want the one he liked on the Archos, and another would want the music player removed because music reminds him of his ex-girlfriend so he's eradicated music from his life. It would just be too stressful and would not be fun anymore. So I appreciate the offer, but I would not participate.
Btw, there's already a big coffer over at notioinkhacks.com to get a HC port working - so far, no one's managed it.

You probably meant it for a different reason, but it's actually valid just to gauge the different opinions that the userbase has on certain things that they would want.
I'm sure to whom ever develops the first fully functional HC ROM, that dev will get their donations or at least should get some donations. However, I'm sure none of the devs would be comfortable taking donations promising to build a HC Rom when they know it can't be done at this time. Also, I'm pretty sure as devs they have tried to get a HC Rom ported to our gtablets. Most of these devs live for that type of accomplishment and challenges.
Don't get me wrong, I know your idea is a postive one and I'm all for it. But most of the roms that's are in the development section are already fully functional and all the devs deserve our donations.
Edit: See above. you notice how humble our modders/developers are. They all have high integrity which to me shows that I can trust that if and when HC is available for a custom Rom...they'll get it to us as soon as possible.

First of all - Thanks for this answer.
But I guess my question was not "clear"
I understand and agree with all points you've pointed.
Few other points:
1. You do this for fun, but we use your project not only for fun.
2. Your "fun" requires time. time = money.
3. Your rom is much better than the one that comes with the tablet
4. Without making money of it - you'll not be able to spend more time on it and make it better.
etc etc..
support: I'm not talking about customer support, taking calls and mails. We'r talking about questions like "what can i do if my tablet doesn't turn on. How to do recovery, etc..", questions you already answered posted in one single topic.
Still gonna be the same: There is a custom built rom, with pre-installed applications, FULLY functional for your tablet (can be with user requested apps if you find them useful) with latest drivers. Who doesn't like it - you're free to install the original that comes with the tablet.
Basically the idea is: give support to the developers (and yes, you are) with money, so they can spend more time on rom's, that we all are using. Make them better (anything get's better with more time spent on it) What do you think?
Like Roebeet said devs do this for fun. But like we did on the mt4g boards to start up development I would gladly put money towards a pot to buy a GTab for more great devs to come from other devices. you can never have enough devs and different flavors of roms.
On a side not I would love to see a group of devs create there own rom kinda like the MIUI team did they went completely outside the box. I dont mean I would want MIUI on my Gtab but a completely fresh idea, not just a port.

Our thoughts converge. I already spoke once about it
ok well, Just inviting few beers to roebeet for Tnt Lite Thanks !
Hi there, so I need someone to make me something that as far as I am aware would be extremely basic to do - I need an app that literally I can open, tap on, then it would randomize through 50 pictures and make one of them appear full screen. Tapping again would make it randomize to a different picture. That is literally it.
I am willing to compensate for your time and effort, and obviously would pay at least half of what you would want upfront so you know that I am not trying to swindle you.
My phone is WindowBreak unlocked (Omnia 7) so as long as it would work on that I would be chuffed.
If anyone is interested, it's actually for probably the geekest reason ever - me and a few friends play the ever so popular "Magic: The Gathering" (once reffered to as 'Cardboard crack' don't you know) and we wanted to play some Archenemy games - for these games there are these cards that you can only get in decks, and considering the amount of money we spend already on these cards we really don't want to be paying out for each deck which comes with 5 of the cards just for an odd game type now and then. This way we could do it without paying excessive amounts!
So yeah, if anyone thinks it wouldn't be too much effort and needs a bit of cash for any projects ect. then let me know. I'd pay via paypal, so make sure you've got that - and please make it a reasonable offer I have a job but its minimum wage so I'm not Richard Branson or anything.
Drop me a PM or simply post on here, I've got the images ready so literally I'd just need to send them to you and then do what you want with it. It really does just need to be very basic, It's for personal use and I very much doubt anyone else could make much use of it.
Thanks to anyone in advanced who can help!
Bump bump bump
No one wants to make some cash?
Check your PM.

Actually depending on how the person writes the Xap I could see a LOT of uses for this. Especially if it's possible to add the images our self to the randomizer. Because in essence that is what you are wanting is a random image generator.
With the right work, something like this could actually be a usable Marketplace app (though I doubt WotC would be happy with including the Archenemy cards built into the XAP... though maybe, not sure what their copyright policy on those is).
Certainly for personal use, this sounds like a great idea. I'm not a huge fan of Archenemy myself but something like this would make it a lot more accessible and quicker to play.
I've agreed to Sensboston working on this for me - if anyone wants it when he's done you will have to go through him to get it, as I said I just want this for personal use - if he wants to upload it to the WP7 Marketplace then its completely up to him!
But yaaaaaaay I'm not the only MTG player around. I've only played Archenemy properly on the Duels of The Planeswalker 2012 games. We don't have the same love for MTG over here as in the US (well we do but on a much smaller scale, and there aren't any clubs or anything within a reasonable distance of where I live).
Me and just a few friends get together every so often to play it and I just think it would make things more interesting once in a while - obviously not all the time as the game type is so tipped in favor of the Archenemy that its unreal, but at least it will add a little more challenge to me wooping everyone all of the time.
