[APP][2.2+] Lockscreen Calendar - Android Apps and Games

Just made another small app which reads the next upcoming calendar events and shows them on your lockscreen (in the text field where normally alarm apps show the next alarm).
ToDo:
separate date string for all-day events - done
configurable "look-ahead" time - done
Known problems:
some users reported a wrong sorting of the events. seems not to affect every device though
repeating events are ignored
if another app shows text in the same textfield, it might overwrite the calendar events
requires android 2.2 or 2.3 as the calendar content provider changed in froyo
doesn't look nice on android 3.0+ therefore i marked it as incompatible with these versions. i'll search for a alternative way to display the events on the lockscreen, not sure if that's possible though
Downloads:
Android Market

Looks good, installed and will let you know if there's any problems.

Looks nice, works good so far.
DAS FEST /o/

congrats - what a simple and cool UI !

Yeah, something ive searched for
thx

Really NICE app, but pleeeeease add location display!
For me the location of events is really important!

Great app! Works good.
Only one problem.
It shows me instead of the second appointment "null".
For example:
1 appointment on 27.07. -> is displayed correct
1 appointment on 29.07. -> is not displayed
Instead it is displayed:
28.07. null
At 28.07. ther is no calendar entry!
Using in on Android 2.3.3 with Nexus One.

Great job!
Very useful indeed and works like a charm!
Great UI and great job!
Thanks!

thanks for the feedback!
location is added in newest version, the "null"-bug should hopefully also be fixed

will this work on a sense lockscreen, too? (i have sense 3.0 lockscreen)

it should work on every lockscreen that normally displays the next upcoming alarm. dont know if the sense 3.0 slider does that, but the pattern/PIN/password definitly does

Not updating
For me, Lockscreen Calendar only updates manually from the app. Events from yesterday are still at the top of the list.

Really nice app love the idea...but it dont seem to work with unity sense 3.0 rom/lockscreen

Only "problem" I have found so far is the stupid Samsung Task Manager is rather kill-happy and I have to re-launch the calendar every now and then.

Yes "null" is fixed!
Thanks for the quick fix!

nice keep up the good work look forward to seeing what else gets modified

Update frequency
Would it be possible to have it update every 15 minutes?

works great with CM7
Nice app. Works with pattern unlock screen on CM7.
One request:
Is there a way to monitor Activesync calendar events when using Touchdown? Other calendar apps specifically have a "monitor touchdown calendar" so I assume they do things a bit differently.

actually the app doesn't run all the time so it shouldn't cause any problem killing it. i guess you suffer from the same "no update" bug as beeflin (which, again, is as good as fixed)

in the upcoming version you will be able to enter decimal values in the update field. so 15 min = 0.25 hours

ehm.. i dont know. i'm querying the default android calendar content provider, some of the first google results when you search for "android work with calendar" ^^

Can you add a horizont to show for calendar entries?
For example look only two days ahead.

[APP] Calc days between dates

DaysAndDate is a handy tool to tell you how many days between two dates, or what is the date before/after several days.
e.g., if you want to know how many days left to somebody's birthday, or
if you what was the exact date 100 days ago/after, you can try DaysAndDate!
The result can be saved and updated automatically every day and you also can write some comments for the dates.
I hope you will like it!
Nice app, works well, very easy to use. I didn't quite get the 'favorites' until I realized I could use it as a counter, makes perfect sense now!
Question... Why the network location, Phone State, and Wake on Boot permissions?
May I suggest to add an alarm function associated with the favorites?
Thanks.

It has alarm feature. Long click on one item, tick the auto update, then tick the notify. This only works with the item whose result can countdown to zero.

Very nice App.
Do you have any intentions in doing any of the following:-
1. Linking to Calendar (or your own calendar program)?
Basically after saving the favorite you then have an option to stamp it into calendar. On each subsequent return to calendar it shows the favorite and the count down/count up automatically changes.
E.G. I add a meeting for a specific date in the future and I give it a target date of when I must have something specific ready. This date would then show a countdown in calendar informing me the remaining days before the item must be ready.
2. Widgets?
Having a favorite set as a widget would be handy.
One could then see at a glance on a home screen one or several favorites saved.

+1 on the widget for countdowns!
Thanks for your suggestions. I will add a widget in next version.

Sense like time and date scroll

Hi, I'm using CM7 rom and I'm looking for theme or maybe launcher, where would be time and date setting in Sense style. Or is it application related? I'm mostly missing it on Calendar.

I read your post several times but it did not make sense at any level. Could you be more specific about what you mean?
Sorry, I'll try better explain:
When you creating in calendar new appointment and setting time or date, on CM7 you have only +/- or direct number editing. On Sense roms you have scrollable "button" like carousel or how to explain.
Finally I've found one video with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7En8wHW_PKY you can see time setting from 0:17.

Well that's a bit harder to implement. It goes deep in the ROM so you would need to start using a ROM that has this function. At least ICS and MIUI roms have this feature.
Thank you for your explanation. I think it took about month or two to get fully ready ICS and it isn't critical problem so I can wait...

Recommended Mail App

Hey all I've been on Android for a little under a year now and if there's one thing I don't like, it's been the e-mail experience. I can't find any mail app outside of the ridiculously priced Maildroid Pro that has what I'm looking for (and I don't even think what I'm looking for is unreasonable!).
Here's what I'm looking for in a mail app:
- Non-ugly icon (I'm looking at you K-9)
- Clean interface
- Support for both Hotmail and GMail with no issues and push notification (Evomail)
- Loads all images in e-mails by default, or at least with the option to turn this feature on (a lot of apps don't)
- Has an informative widget that displays the subject and brief bit of the body in it (SolMail has a useless widget that displays too little info and Evomail has NO widget unbelievably)
I'd be perfectly happy with the default Mail and GMail app (either or) on my Nexus 4 if it wasn't for the fact that neither of them display images automatically, and I have to click on "show all images" all the time. It's annoying. I'm not sure why all this is so difficult, especially when I had no problems with e-mail when I was on iOS. Is there anything anyone can recommend?

I saw that, but it doesn't help with my Hotmail account, and I want it all with one app. Any other recommendations?
In that case, I join your question, my main account is hotmail also, lol

I am not having issues with my hotmail getting pushed.... It might be something to do with the settings being used.I am using pop3.live.com on port 995.
Don't know if this will help. I think I also had to make a change in the hotmail settings also but can't remember where that was sorry.

When I changed the IMAP server settings to read pop3.live.com, and port 995, it couldn't connect to the server?

Hi, as a SolMail Team, we want to improve the widget for you~ So, what's your opinion of perfect size of widget (with subject and brief bit of the body)? 1x1 or 4x2 is a little bit small, isn't it? Thanks for your opinion!

The default Mail and GMail app's style of widget is all I need. Subject, brief lines of body, done. The lines of the body should be changeable by the user. I actually use 5 rows of icons with Nova Launcher and would prefer 5x4, but as long as it's resizable just like the stock app I'm fine with it.

oops, sorry for late update.
We added resizable and scrollable widget on SolMail.(actually it's 2.0 update on May). It can be extended to the tablet size!
Thank you for your valuable suggestion.
I'm using Cloudmagic now, so far I have liked it. The only downside for you could be that the widget is quite simplistic. Anyway for me it works because I usually use the notification area to peek at new mails.
Oh and is really beautiful.

Clock widget calendar/traffic at a glance

At a glance does nothing for me except for display the clock. I have an event coming up and get regular Google Now traffic alerts but they never show up in the widget. Both settings are on. Any ideas?
Same thing. I long press and preferences and both options are set
Same problem here, but I can't even long press the widget to get preferences. There also isn't an option for at a glance when I go into home settings.
Did a little testing. They seem to only show on gmail (possibly only primary calendar) and within 30 minutes of the event. Not very useful. Should just pull the next event

That sucks. Maybe it'll get fixed. I remember when the first Pixel came out, the weather widget only displayed the date until Google pushed an update that got the weather to actually appear.

Yikes. This does not sound good. I just posted on another thread asking if when you tap the event does it go to the base calendar or into that specific entry (which means you can't get to the calendar list from it... Gcal needs to fix that). I guess it's even worse if it won't show events.
I hope they fix it. In the meantime, at least there is a knockoff widget (another calendar widget) that is super customizable.

It goes into the event when you click on it. Deleting the event causes all sorts of issues as well. Who do they have doing QA??
I've since gone back to Nova as that widget wasnt enough to get me back to pixel launcher.

My problem with that... If a widget goes right into a calendar event, hitting the x in the corner or the back arrow all exit the calendar app. No button / gesture can get you to the list of events or various views in the calendar app proper. So short sighted IMO.

Only the primary calendar would render it useless to me anyway, since my schedule includes events from many different calendars. My phone has been delivered, but I've not had a chance to unbox so not been able to test this yet.
Ah well, the lack of customisation (such as both this widget and the search bar being fixed) meant I wasn't really planning on using the stock launcher anyway. This would just leave me one fewer thing to regret about that.
Glad to see I'm not the only one having this problem. I've enable/disabled/restarted the phone with no avail. It hasn't shown a single event or traffic update yet for me even though I have lots of google calendar events and daily traffic updates in google maps.
No luck here as well
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
I'll concur. Google has left themselves a lot of room for future developmental improvements.
Same here. No calendar events that are coming from Exchange server are shown. But I tried to create an event in the calendar directly on the phone and it showed up immediately. Pretty disappointing, as it's useless when only event created on the device will show. So far my experience been there is a bug after bug with this phone. Frequent app crashes with multiple apps, and especially the camera.

[WIDGET][8.0+] Agenda Widget 1.0.1

This is a newly published app but I'm using it since 2017. I'm sharing it in the hope that some people might find it useful (it's completely free)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gr.ictpro.jsalatas.agendawidget
Highly customizable Widget that combines calendar events and tasks in a compact and minimalistic way.
It can connect to android's calendar system and to the following task providers
- Open Tasks (compatible with owncloud's and nextcloud's task apps)
- Astrid Clone
- GTasks
Source Code is available under MIT License. Forking and relisencing is highly recommended, although pull requests are also welcomed.

@jsalatas, would it be possible to add a feature to assign text colour to a calendar?
Right now the widget uses the colours set in google calendar for the indicator bar at the beginning of every line. Would it be possible to use this colour for the text also?
Or to manually assign colours rather than using the colours from google?
Thank you very much!

Um, not sure what that it would like. Is it possible to some how sketch it? :\
In any case I don't think that I have time for this right now but f I had some kind of description/sketch/whatever on how it may look like, I could add an issue in github for whenever I find some time.
