I love my g2x thread! - T-Mobile LG G2x

It's disappointing to read about all the complaints and problems everyone is having with their phone. But honestly I'm tired of reading complaint after complaint. I am very fortunate to have not experience any of these problems with any of my g2x's except for a little screen bleed, but that doesn't bother me much. This thread is for the owners who have no problems with their g2x. I'd actually like to see how many happy g2x owners we have here in this forum. For those who haven't experienced problems...are you rooted with custom rom or still on stock?

Except for a little screen bleed on top corners, my G2x is good. Running EagleBlood ROM, but it's been failing since i got it. It's always having a problem either with downloads/ Market/ Home Launcher crashing. Guess i'll have to get another ROM or go back to stock ;/

i've been on ultimate as my daily. i've tried gbread and other froyo's but always go back to ultimate. i may have to check out gbread again now that netflix is out.

I love my phone, fast, awesome camera, used to have about 4-7 random reboots until i ran cm7, only problem is the GPS taking a long time to lock. Fastest phone ever. F- The sensation and iPhone.

I love mine as well. This one I have now has performed perfectly. And it is my phone of choice. Convergence baby!
With Dolphinhd as my browser and Launcherpro as my os (?), it rocks!
If you don't have a good one, do what it takes to get another one. You won't regret it if you get a good one.
I've complained loudly about the issues, but there is a reason I've stuck it out. Because this phone is the balls!

There is already a I love my G2X thread.
This is getting funny. Seriously. If you don't know why then don't worry about it.
By the way, I like my G2X but love my Sensation. Ill have an affair on my Sensation when the GSII gets here.

Not a story as much as it is a statement. Not a very good implementation of that worn out phrase you just used.
I highly doubt you would have even used the worn out phrase if I said I loved the G2X more than my Sensation.

Atrix or inspire?

Please answer if you have had both so I can get good advice. The inspire battery isnt a big deal because I can buy another one. And as far as the atrix,I'm kind of a social person so motyrblur won't be a bad thing to me. Please kick me in the rite way loll. I've been pulling my hair out trying to decide

Best Buy carries the Atrix for $99.99 on contract, so if you're for hardware or raw performance I'd go the Atrix path. I personally don't like the Inspire, so I guess that discounts my opinion, but I'd get an Atrix, root it, and maybe flash a custom ROM on it if you don't like MotoBlur or any of options that ADW or Launcher Pro have to offer.
I have the atrix and to be honest with you ... I hate it. Just try and wait it out for for a better phone to be released.
I'd personally say Atrix. It is quite sluggish at times but im sure it can be solved with a software update. the reason is that you will be future proofed and also 1080p recording is in the works.
Thanks guys. Things is I can't wait for a better phone because I have to make my decision Tuesday. Please, more opinions

I have an Atrix, and I love it. Those that say the phone is sluggish don't know what they're talking about or have a ton of rouge apps running in the background. Just use an alternate launcher and you shouldnt have any complaints.
I would only recommend you go for the inspire if you consider camera quality a top priority or care about the locked bootloader on the atrix (which has almost been worked around anyway).

I have THE Inspire and am VERY happy with it. I was between the two myself and the deciding factors for me were the larger screen, no motoblur, and the awesome development community. If you are into modding your phone, the Inspire has it hands down. My Inspire is running @ 1.4ghz and is noticeably faster than the Atrix's that two of my coworkers have. If you aren't going to root it, or just want to retheme it, than IMO it's just a choice between features.
I really need fast performance, style and sturdyness. I love the 4.3 inch but 4 isn't that bad. Its all I've had so far lol. I wish I could have both to test out lol

I have the inspire and love this phone. Its my second android phone after being with the iphone for the past few years.O and Its free at best buy this week with a new two year or upgrade with 2 yr.
Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm gonna go with the atrix for 2 reasons. First is gorilla glass. I'm known for keeping a lighter or keys in the same pocket as my phone and I've scratched many screens. Also I hate screen protectors. Second is actually 2 reasons in one. Sound quality and the fact that the only thing that drags me towards htc and sense is the evo. I actually have the evo,and its one sexy beast. But I feel like the inspire isn't even up to the evos standards when it comes to the epicness of the phone. The evo set a high standard and still after over a year holds its ground against any other phone on the market. People are still paying 200 dollars for it with a new contract, but the inspire just don't seem to get that much hype. I really like htc's builds and how sturdy there devices are,but I'm no stranger to the plastic feel. I've owned nothing but samsungs ( ) so the atrix wouldn't be a problem on that end. The only thing(s) that is still giving me doubt is the fact that I really wanted to upgrade to a 4.3 inch screen, and that with the atrix it looks as if everything is really tiny, even the keyboard. Please,if anyone has had both, tell me why you decided to go with what phone.

Just updating here for people who may be stuck in the position I was but I went with the inspire, and folks until you hold it in your hands, you wouldn't know its awsomeness. I stated it wasn't as good as the EVO,but I have both and this thing blows the EVO away. And as far as battery life,im a heavy user and I make it through the day off a charge. That's with very heavy usage. I did tweak a few things but nothing I even noticed. Brightness down to 47% and turned off HTC mail sync and news sync. Saves a lot. Great phone here, bada ba ba,I'm loving it

[Q] Mytouch4g to a G2x

I am thinking about trading my Mytouch4g for a G2x.....i also have a dell streak 5
In everyone's opinion, which is the better phone? I know the G2x's specs are ridiculous compared to the other 2, but I have heard of many issues with the G2x.
This G2x is unlocked and rooted running 2.3.3. So I imagine that most of the bad bugs are worked out already.
So basically, I am wondering about other people's input on this trade. Should I go from the Mytouch4g to the G2x? Or should I just stick with my Dell Streak 5?
I made this switch. But I was forced to cause my MT4G died after I dropped it in water. Yes G2x is faster and has a bigger screen but in terms of development I think MT4G being an HTC is a better phone.
CM7 worked a lot better on it than G2x although G2x isn't that bad. It is still stuck on 2.6.32 kernel though, while the MT4G kernel is up to .35 and easily devvable.
Spec-wise, they are about the same. Shouldn't be much of a difference except for the keyboard.

so is it a good trade?
this guy said he had one that had problems and sent it back...this is the new replacement and it was preloaded with 2.3.3.
What are the thoughts on this? Is it going to be a better idea to root it and install a custom ROM? Are the problems more prevelant on the stock ROMs?
He said it has been fine since he got a new one. But that it had many problems before when he had one with 2.2.2. I just dont want to trade for some buggy non-functional phone!
Has anyone had a lot of problems with their G2x since rooting or stock upgrading to 2.3.3?

I got a MT4G and my wife got the G2x. After playing with her phone for half a day, I went back to the store and traded my MT4G in. I love the G2x.
Very true about development. If you are flash happy and want to change ROMs often...stick with the MT4G.
I'm in the same boat as the op, and I'm really tempted to get a g2x, as I'm a bit of a tech addict and can't wait for the gs2. On the other hand, the mt4g isn't terrible. It's stable, and development wise a lot better than the g2x. It runs pretty much 99% of what I want it to run very well.
The development is the only thing keeping me from jumping right now.

Stay with the mytouch g2x has no development for it
sent from a guy living in a van down by the river
I am getting antsy to get a new phone to replace my MT4G, but I do not want to spend a ton like I would on a sensation or the Galaxy 2. I was thinking an older dual core might be a good start.
I like to tinker, but not overly flash happy. Just want stability and decent battery life, and the typical things like good signal reception and call quality.
Why do people always bring up GSII? I doubt you'll notice any differences in real world performance... Just get a G2x. Development isn't that bad... But if you MUST HAVE Sense, stick with the MT4G.
The GSII is a great phone... If it is anything like the first one then it will be even better with cyanogen or any custom ROM, same with the sensation. I don't use Sense often, but it isn't that bad, especially the newer versions.
The biggest difference will be battery life. From what I am hearing, the new SOCs are much easier on the battery, so all things being equal, the sensation or GSII will have much better battery life even with higher use cases.
That is why the choice is more difficult. Besides... us tinkers (aka the rooting community) will never be satisfied long with the same phone. After about a year, it is time to look into something new. Sometimes we can't afford the latest and greatest so we look for the best bang for our buck we can.
As to a new g2x owner (3 weeks) I love this phone, bought it brand new from the store and it works flawlessly, I flashed weapons GB build and using fauxes over clocked kernel.
In other words, i'm in love with it.

Keep G2x or G2?

I'm really torn if I shoukd keep my g2x or keep my g2. The g2x is obviously smoother with scrolling, application launch and etc. The reason I got the g2 is almost every app supports it. While I feel the g2x is dead and won't be supported. I rooted, custom rom'd my g2 and overclocked it. But it's still not smooth as the g2x?
Not a hate thread, just looking for humble opinions.

There really wasn't much there honestly. The amaze is stuck with S-on and all the Roms are sense based Roms and there is like only one kernel made by faux. We had a great developer xboarder56 but he got permabanned probly because he was an angsty 16 y/o who advertised his own site and we HAD a good mod who kept order but he stepped down. So now there's like 3? Devs and ics and cm9 is slowly being worked on but not much has happened. So I guess I'm excited to see all the new fun stuff over here. I was kinda bummed when I saw that TDJ moved to the sgs2 he made some kick ass stuff.

As cool as the one s looks, Idk if I can go with HTC untill they stop locking down there phones. The amaze is a nightmare because although the bootloader is unlocked its still S-on so its only half unlocked. I hate touchwiz and the screen on the sgs2 just can't compare with the amaze, but from the looks of it the sgs3 is very promising.

Getting G2x Soon...my HD2 is slowly dying. Any help would be great

Well my 2 year old HD2 is finally dying a slow death of non responsive touchscreen and Tmobile has no more of them in stock. So they gave me a choice of HTC Radar and or G2x to replace it.. Can't say it was a hard choice.... Glad I kept my headset protection this long..
Anyway....
My question is what are some of the better custom roms around here and call recording enabled kernels? Any advise will be appreciated.

Wish they still made the hd2 anyways Hellfire pheonix 2.1 is very very stable. So is cm7. You have to wait till you get your g2x to find out what baseband you are running because the new baseband only works with one rom at the moment. If you get the new updated baseband, which I doubt you will because it just came out you have to downgrade in order to flash other roms out there
