HDMI out - Verizon Droid Charge

HDMI out on my charge is giving me headaches, first I got an adapter to micro hdmi which didnt work at all. Then I ordered a hdmi to micro hdmi cable from monoprice which I would hardly say is functioning properly. It will work for a little bit but then will drop out and leave my tv (have tried different TV's even) searching for signal. I try disconneting from phone and even TV, turning tv on and off, but the only thing that SOMETIMES make it start working is restarting my phone, I tried reflashing my ROM (Gummy 1.9) but as far as I know hdmi out is not an issue with the rom. Should I be contacting monoprice for issues with the cable or is this an issue with my phone?
If anyone has any knowledge/advice/theories on this I would appreciate it, I'm getting pretty frustrated constantly restarting my phone just for it to not fix it every time.
Thanks,
Nic

[Q] Cannot get HDMI out?

Hello all. I've been trying to use the HMDI out on my Transformer, but with no luck. I've tried plugging an HDMI-HDMI mini cable into my HDMI TV, and also using an HDMI-HDMI Mini adaptor on an existing standard HDMI cable, but nothing seems to happen. I get no signal from the HDMI ports on the TV, and I don't get the "HDMI" icon on the transformer toolbar.
This was the cable I tried:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001NXK86Y/ref=oss_product
...and this was the adaptor:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000UJKOW0/ref=oss_product
Does this require some kind of "special" HDMI cable? If so, what should I be looking for?
Thanks for any help chaps!

You don't have a Panasonic TV do you? I remember seeing that there's some problem using those sets..
Ah Yes I do, a Panasonic TX32G10B. It hadn't occured to me that the TV itself might be the problem! I'm seeing various posts on the net about this now, but none that appear to have a fix. Any ideas if anything can be done about this incompatiblity?
I have a Panasonic Viera and have spent an evening with it changing every setting i could find but with no luck at all. I restarted, reconnected about a million times in every combination of sequences there are and some more besides.
Could not get the TV to hook up to the TF.
I bought my HDMI cable at Maplin.
Like yourself if anyone has any suggestions then I'm all ears!

You can try contacting Panasonic to see if there is a software upgrade for the TV which may address the issue.
Done that- i have latest firmware already - the tv has a software update function built in.
I just tried my transformer & HDMI cable on a different TV, and it's worked sucessfully, so I guess it's a compatibility problem between the Transformer and my Panasonic TV. There doesn't appear to be a software update function on my model of TV, so I hope it eventually get addressed on the transformer end!
I've heard others say to try the other HDMI ports on the back of the TV etc also. I know for a fact that all cables dont work either, I had a belkin cable that never worked tried with a phillips cable from sears and boom it worked! weird.
use a 1.4 mini-hdmi to hdmi cable (174cm-5.60$)on my dynex flat tv (720p)
image and sound work without problem out of the box..
link to the cable :

I bought a cheap HDMI to mini HDMI adaptor off ebay. It did not work with my Panasonic TH-P50VT20A (50" 3D Aussie model) I tried plugging it in my reciever and then also 2 other Panasonic plasmas, and a Samsung Plasma. I also tried various cables. I then went and puchased a new adaptor from Jaycar electronics and it works fine. There is a bit of overscan but am pretty sure that is because of a setting on the TV. Some will work others don't but my new Panny Plasma did work with the right adaptor.

MHL problem (SOLVED)!!!

I received my monoprice MHL adapter, plugged the hdmi cable into it, plugged the power into it and plugged it into my phone. the phone shows HDMI hooked up and my monitor will alternate between showing whats on the phone and going to a white fuzzy screen then back to mirrored than fuzzy every couple of seconds.
I plugged my brothers sensation in and it works fine so I doubt it's the adapter, he is rooted running a custom ROM.
I am unlocked and rooted but running stock rom, T-Mobile USA version.
So I went into T-Mobile and asked about this issue, they didn't know, they called tech support who in turn told them to call HTC. They gave me HTCs number, I called and explained what was going on, HTC tells me the phone ISN'T MHL compatible, that we're supposed to use the media link dongle, which costs about $100.
He suggested I try just a straight up micro hdmi cable to my tv instead.
So an older phone (sensation) has the ability, but this new high tech, best of the bunch phone can't do it, what a bunch of ****.
Edit: OK, I figured out the issue, I was running an HDMI to VGA cable to my monitor, since the monitor is a VGA connection. I then went ahead and hooked it up to another monitor that had a straight HDMI connection and it worked perfect, so VGA HDMI cable no good, straight up hdmi to hdmi works great!
Edit 2: So I just tried the MHL adapter again with the vga HDMI cable, and now it works. It's like it needed one cable to make it work and now it will work with the other, nothing changed except that I tried it another TV.
a HDMI to VGA cable? as long as you dont have special equipment this cable can't be used for anything HDMI is a completly digital standard. DVI is digital + analog so a VGA - DVI adapter is possible, but HDMI to analog is without special hardware impossible.

You are correct sir, my bad, it is a DVI cable. So just replace VGA with DVI in my first and second post.
The cable I have is this one.
Thanks.
Okay. Could be a problem with HDCP.

I'n having this issue too.. still unresolved
My MHL came in 2 days back. Hooking the phone up keeps alternating between what's on the phone and the white noise screen. I have a straightup HDMI cable going from the MHL to my LCD TV.
Any suggestions are welcome

OK, I noticed if i just go and hook up my cable to the mhl the problem comes back, the solution is to hook everything up to the phone, then reboot the phone and the problem will be gone. One other thing is make sure you have your media volume turned up as it affects sound output, so if your media volume is muted, it will also be muted or whatever volume the phone is set at. I thought I was nuts when there wasn't any sound coming from my stereo until I realized that I had my volume all the way down.
DO the reboot thing and it should work no problems, also, our phones don't need to be plugged in to your power cord to use the MHL, so I'm wondering if the MHL adapter is even necessary for us if we can live without the power cord needing to be attached.

Thanks.. Will try and circle back..
Re: The power cord, not sure if it's 'needed' but I'm guessing without external power the phone wouldn't last an hour.
Seperate issue - When I last tried, I was playing around with it and the phone heated to a point it was slightly uncomfy holding the phone.

Yup, without the external battery going to the phone it will drain dramatically. I also noticed the heating issue you mentioned.

Update: So I tried hooking up all the cables to my phone, restarted the phone and then plugged it into the TV. It still gives me same results unfortunately. I get a display but it keeps going away every few seconds and the white noise screen appears.
What a buzzkill... My old phone (Sensation) was flawless in this respect

Connecting Infinity to HDTV...

I recently received an HDMI to Micro-HDMI cord, and was excited to test it on my 37" Panasonic.
I have tried every combination of turning on and off the TV/Tablet first etc...and it STILL will not show up on my TV. It's acting like there is nothing connected at all. No prompts.
So...what am I doing wrong? The cord I bought was 3 bucks on Amazon, so it may be a knock off or something. Buy a new cord? Any help is appreciated. Half the reason I bought this thing was to watch movies on my hdtv.

I would try to find another TV to test with... Maybe a display model in a retail store if you don't know anyone with a TV that you can test with?

My micro HDMI cord only worked on my LG when I first selected the input on my TV and then unplugged and plugged the HDMI cord back into the Infinity. Also make sure the cord is plugged ALL the way in.
When I played NetFlix on the tablet, the TV would display the video and sound, but the closed captioning stayed on the device.

I bought a Micro HDMI to HDMI cord on amazon for about 3 dollars also, it worked perfectly fine on my 42inch LCDTV Panasonic. All I had to do was connect it and change the input on the TV to the right HDMI and it worked fine. Although watching movies with subtitles didn't work so well as the subtitles was left at the tablet screen, and I couldn't turn the tablet screen off while watching movies on my TV.
when you plug in the HDMI cord, the TF700 should show some kind of "HDMI" noticifation, and will stay on when connected. If you're not seeing this, then you'll need to figure out if it's the cord or HDMI port on one of your devices. The TV, hook something else to it that used HDMI. The cord, try another cord. Monoprice has them cheap too; probably like $5 with shipping. If you're not seeing the HDMI notification after the cord, and you know they cord is good, it's your TF.

I have problems as well, tried to connect my tf700 to my samsung UE46ES8005 led tv but cant get it to work
On LG i have no problems at all, but the samsung refuses. Tried different cables to no avail.
I have sent a mail to samsung support 3 days ago but no answer.... hmm
//Mackis
same her it works on my monitor but i have Panasonic tv and it doesn't work tried a variety of cables and no go but tried on a Toshiba TV at parents and it works.i had the prime and it work just fine
Asus really needs to add some HDMI scaling options to the TF700 to allow it to work with more TV's - I'm assuming these issues are because the TF700 only seems to output at it's native resolution, which most devices don't seem to like... I'll do some testing with my Toshiba 1080p TV today, just to see what I can find out as well and report any findings that may be useful.

I've connected the TF700T to be Panasonic 55TV50 Plasmass HDTV and to a Vizio 16" LCD TV. No issues.
Connecting to 2 Vizio tvs and a Hitachi no problem.
Our 58 inch Samstung plasma only sees the tablet connection on HDMI 3 which is the recommended port for a monitor hook up from a pc.

There is a HDMI encryption called HDCP that basically makes it more annoying to use HDMI than it should. Some TV's do not have HDCP enabled. Since the Infinity FORCES HDCP chances are whats happening is the TV doesnt know what to do with the encrypted signal and the tablet doesnt want to play nice so the TV will work.
Unfortunate for you, im guessing your TV is not compatible. Sorry for the bad news mate.
There have also been problems with people trying to use HDMI - DVI adapters and connect into DVI monitors, since a lot of (older) DVI devices also dont support HDCP or sometimes the connector itself doesnt have the right connections to make HDCP work often it all just doesnt work properly. Maybe in time there will be a hack to disable HDCP, until then theres not much you can do.

Again pileot... HDCP has NOTHING to do with it. Find me a monitor/tv that does have HDMI that does not have hdcp enabled..... they don't exist anymore.
If it has HDMI... then chances are 99.999999% that you have an HDCP compliant monitor.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090922221218AAyrnYz
DVI will not work because the 5v signal that is needed for the monitor to recognize that something is connected to it-- is not sent with our tablets.
Seems this question is repeated as soon as it falls off the first page......

When using a MHL HDMI adapter I get no mobile network

I bought a pioneer x8500 stereo for my car with an HDMI output. I purchased what looks like an official MHL adapter on Amazon for $28. Each time I plug the cable into the Pioneer I completely lose all mobile data, I cannot even make or receive phone calls and have a circle with a line through it in the notification bar. I can see my screen on the headunit and do everything, even use Wi-fi but no mobile data, which is really important! When I unplug it I get it all back. I tried the MHL on a TV using the HDMI and I can see the screen same as on the pioneer but still no network until I unplug it.
I have a SCH-i545 rooted S4 running 4.3. Kernel 3.4.0. SE for Android status is enforcing. I had the verizon antivirus installed but removed it. I don't know if its something on my phone preventing the connections or the adapter is defective.
I have tried everything I can think of, even wrapping the adapter in tinfoil but nothing helps. I have a Garmin external GPS plugged in below the stereo and the satellite loses its signal when this is plugged in. It may be a coincidence but I have never had that happen before.

I have the red cord if that makes sense. (It was cheaper and was supposed to work but never did). You have the bpx looking one correct? Little white/red/whatever. Do you plug the power in on it? Try switching how you plug it into power.. i.e first plug in adapter count to 10 or 20 then phone. Or plug in all at oonce and radio last.. Just throwing things out there that i've seen on reviews from otherbuyers of em

I bought a genuine Samsung adapter and it was heavier and packaged different than the samsung one that I sent back to Amazon, it works fine now. It even charges my phone using a USB cable plugged into a cigarette lighter adapter. My other car adapter kept making the HDMI cutout and I think it just didn't have enough power. I am still trying to learn and get tasker to work properly and so far I am able to start up my music player and then launch Waze on the phone so I have GPS and Music on the big screen. I also use screenstandby so the phone screen saves power. On the radio side I have Mixtrax working with a 32GB mircosd card plugged into a USB stick, (that took a while to figure out because it DOES NOT work with apple) an 16GB SD card with Movies, my160GB Ipod with songs, Audiobooks and Mixtrax EZ, a DVD in the player and my phone for pandora via bluetooth but when I use Pandora I have to reconnect AVliberator. I wish I could have Waze working from my phone and my Ipod music player through the speakers. As soon as I get it all working perfectly I am going to do a video tutorial for those that had my same issues but no where to figure out how to solve them. I have a parking brake bypass switch installed that I have to click everytime I launch the phone so I can view the screen.

Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter with OTG Lag problem?

I bought a OTG Y Cable and tried using this with my Xbox 360 wireless controller adapter, first by plugging the power in, putting the micro usb in the tab and THEN the 360 receiver into the OTG and IT WORKED FOR CHARGING WOO.
However As i started my emulaters I noticed a big lag (Super Mario World the character would jump only slightly and couldnt move much only slight jolts right and left when I pressed those buttons), so i un-Plugged the cable, tried my other OTG (regular not Y) suddenly the same lag! so i restarted the tab and tried using my regular otg it was much better but the lag returned at some point (not as much at all but still noticeable). I unplugged everything (otg etc) and left it alone for a while and tried it again later with the regular otg cable and now slight lag eventually comes only in the NES emu! lmao
Do you think the OTG Y Cable might have done it? what if the power that was coming in from the charger area somehow messed with the power that went out to the xbox 360 receiver and damaged the receiver. is this possible? Weird thing i tried the receiver on my laptop later on and it was no lag! lmao. sorry again just wondering if anyone has any idea whats going on before I decide to buy a new xbox 360 receiver. ill try it again later. One person suggested wifi off as wifi might be interfering but this hasnt happened before ill still try that later tho.
