Can this modpack be installed on the VU ROM? - HTC Inspire 4G

I wanted a notification area power toggle bar, but there is not one included in the Virtuous Unity ROM. Can I install the one from the ClearDROID ROM? Would I be able to flash the modpack zip file in CWM or would the different ROM bases cause this to not work? Any help or recommendations would be appreciated, thanks.

make a nandroid, and try it. If it doesn't boot go to recovery and restore.

That's what I had planned. Sounds good, I'll report back with the end result. Thanks.

I would be absolutely sure that it would not work with VU because of the different bases. But, as Mudknot said, as long as you have a backup made, what the heck, see what happens. If it did actually work with VU, I would be completely surprised and then I would have to try it also.

pendo based the mod pack off of the dhd base which is why it removes the h+ from rosie.apk on clear droid, but I am assuming that VU has 3.0 rosie so the framework is completely different. So it shouldn't work.

The mod doesn't touch the Rosie apk.l from what I can see. It does edit the android policy, framework-Res, (reason for the missing bars) framework policy jar and services jar. It may work but for now I can't be sure if it will work for VU. But this is xda, this is what we do. Make your backups, flash and then pray lol worst case is a restore the backup.

Framework is different. The VU rom is based off of Sensation/pyramid. It is a good thing you suggested a backup and that the op knew to do that also. It would have been cool though if it worked but I don't see how it possibly could work.

Credits
Cyanogen, Enomther, MoDaCo, JesusFreke, Stericson, Oshaka, seraph1024, and anyone else who has further android with their efforts.
What does this contain?
A modified /system/framework/framework-res.apk:
-res/drawable-hdpi/statusbar_background.png made to be flat black.
-res/layout/status_bar.xml hex edited for both calls to 08 00 00 1C to change 00 00 00 to FF FF FF, so notification text will appear as white.
A modified /system/framework/services.jar/classes.dex:
-com/android/server/status/StatusBarIcon.smali to make the clock text from black to white.
-com/android/server/status/StatusBarService.smali to make the date text from black to white.
Install Instructions
-Place on sdcard

Desire Status Bar
This will give you just the statusbar_background.9.png from the Desire ROM. People were asking for it in this thread (I think) and in my desire bar thread.

F.A.Q.
Q. How do I get back to a stock notification bar?
A. Either apply a nandroid if you made one or reflash your ROM.
Q. Is there an easy way to tell a file used in MetaMorph from a file flashed in recovery?
A. The size will be substantially larger for a file flashed in recovery. Those files remain roughly around 3MBs. My morphs are usually much smaller and usually only a few KBs or so.
Disclaimer
Nandroid before flashing this so that if something goes wrong, or you want to go back to how your phone was before, then you easily can. Also, if it breaks something, and I don't know how to fix it, then I will say "Apply your nandroid," and if you reply with something similar to "I didn't make one for 'insert your reason for not making a nandroid here.'" Then I will tell you to wipe your phone, and take it as a lesson learned. Also, I am not responsible for any ill things that come from using this. One last thing NANDROID FIRST.

imagine your status bar black lol. its not on my phone anymore. i just tested out the file to make sure it would work then went back to my theme. this was just a request from a user and felt i would share it with other people that wanted it. also, the hero battery probably won't look good scaled up to 38x38 from 25x25. almost all of my old theme icons didn't.
Awesome theme.

I use ddms in the tools folder of the SDK.
Not really as much of a theme as it is a modified services.jar, /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/statusbar_background.9.png, and /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/layout/status_bar.xml.

Also lose reboot option when power button is pushed and notification tray is no longer clear
Yes I was a little quick to say it worked (I just really checked it booted). It borked superuser permissions app and terminal too.
I'd probably suggest we wait for certified cm5 compatible themes
CM5 beta 2 seem very tricky to theme, no luck so far.
But i am noob so the pro's may have better chance.
The reason it breaks so many things is that it is built from the template enomther provided about 2 weeks ago which doesn't have all the modifications that cyanogen added to it. I haven't installed CM beta 2 yet, but when I do (or whatever the current one is), then I will work on updating my work to it.

Just install Real Signal from the market or do what I did and install Signal Status as it give you a more meaningful display in -dBm rather than bars.
Download the following 6bars file and flash with clockworks, don't wipe and always do a backup. As with any changes to the framework file system, it will take up to 10 min to complete the restart after installing. This will flash the services.jar from the Nils' Business Sense v3.1 rom, all credit for the work goes to NilsP and all other dev that contributed to his rom.
I have only installed this on vert. 3.1 and looked to make sure that it will boot and appear to be a fully working 6 bar signal meter. No other testing has been done. If anyone runs into a problem DON'T bother NilsP with question, post them here and I will look into it.
If you need to get back to the stock virt. 3.1 services.jar file then download and flash the StockRestore file.
Is this based on the latest framework?

NilsP has it listed under his ROM information that is is from the official 2.2+, so I would say yes it is from the latest framework. I have yet to decompile it down to smali files and compare it with the latest virt. 3.1 files, but will get around to it later today.

Yes I have it working on Virt 3.2 also.
Anyway to get this on CM6.1?
This also works on the stock rom. Deodexed of course
Apologies, as I'm really new at peaking inside framework files...
I installed the 6 bars on Virtuous 3.2 no problem... looks great.
Now I've started using Ninjamorph to update the framework-res.apk and the icons in there (ripped some of the icons out of the conservative icon framework file and replaced).
But the framework file still has the 4 bar icon series... where are the six bar icons saved? I'd like to do the same thing... find a 6 bar color icon series for the signal meter, and replace this white one.

Gingerbread 2.3..EZ FRankenCYAN (not Affiliated with any) 2708 Radio needed

2708 kernel only!FR-customMTD is needed for G1 of at least 94Mb systemI give to you my leaving present....it seems to be fully working,no lag and everything working..All i did was add some files, delete some, change some bits in the build.prop and in the updater script.
My phone will be gone from tomorrow so i provide no support,no updates and am not responsible for any broken phones etc etc...
The name....
Called EZ FRankenCYAN because its a bit of all their work therefore i take NO CREDIT! All i did was use bits and pieces from each of their efforts.
By the way i did it all on my Magic so big thanks to Astro File Explorer!!
I have been using this for the last couple of days and get a respectable 4.4+ linpack scores,Please enjoy as i have and as the new phones owner will.
Thanks to EzTerry, FireRat and CYANogen team.Hopefully i wont annoy anyone by putting this up!
Im now off to the Hero Section again to goodbye for now!
Usual stuff, wipe before you flash backup etc
DOWNLOAD HERE!

I should add that the onpy reason i have posted this is because i didnt want to feel guilty for not sharing...If i was keeping my phone i would go with Ezterry and Firerats rom as its goign to be amazingly fast and clean! I noticed when doign this that the CM coding in files seems quite dirty,as well as EZ/FR having an autoinstaller for various kernels when you flash.
Stick with the newer developers i have a feeling they will support longer than whoever takes over Cmod!
SEE POST 7 FOR FLY ANIMATION! THANKS TO JUANGIL
thanks for sharing, will give it a try
edit 1: you need to mention that FR-customMTD is needed for G1 of at least 94Mb system (thanks)
edit 2: it is indeed Fast, tested with and without compchache and I see no diff, I'll replace ADWLauncher with Launcher2 to see if still as fast as now (I dont want to say it but it feels faster than ezterry's) I even added Fly Animation and it feels faster "foreals"
edit 3: using Launcher2 now and compcache @32mb Jit on, best combination till now, first GB rom I got where LCD density changer works (130/140 looks cool!) this rom can handle the transition animation really snappy
i couldnt flash it. the zip could not be opened or something :s
Could you explain how you got the Cyanogenmod parts into this otherwise stock ROM? I would use EzTerry / Firerat's Gingerbread ROMs, but I really miss the dropdown power widget and the battery percentage. All the rest I could live without.

it DOES require customMTD as STATED, no problem with Gmail, it has the power widgets on pulldown bar, No battery porcentage

And no, I did install CMparts.apk, settings.apk, and settings.provider.apk. It worked in the sense that it showed the Cyanogenmod settings and let me change them, but it didn't actually do anything. And then after reboot they disappeared.

It's the fastest GingerBread I've ever seen... But There is one small bug. I'm from poland (you can see it on every my post- language problems )... I'm from Poland and I see, that keyboard layouts don't match (what I type on hardware keyboard don't match what I get. I mean this: [email protected]#$%^&*()_[];',./-=\ signs...). Is there any fix for that? And where is the "?" sign?
Bad zip is caused by wrong digest (signature) of the package. I've had the same. Sign it and it would be ok

[UPDATED 8/29/11][THEME] Gingerbread Motoblur Theme for BravoX ROM [v1.4]

Themed to look like the Gingerbread (2.3.x) Motoblur Builds from devices like:
Droid X/X2/2/3, Photon 4G, Triumph, and Atrix
This will work on BravoX Rom as well as stock Bravo 2.2.1 (as tested by abhi897)
I have only tested it on BravoX RC2 so I can't guarantee any results, anything you do to damage your phone is not my responsibility.
This modifies all of the framework-res.apk and some of the services.jar
What it changes:
Status Bar & icons
Popup menus
Buttons
Drop down menus
"loading" spinners
and other things i can't remember

some knowledge on what you need to do if something goes wrong with your phone (e.g. SBF, nandroid restore)
To apply:(With bootstrap recovery or 2ndInit)
Download the flashable zip below to sdcard
Boot into CWM recovery through BandroidX's recovery app
make a nandroid backup
Select install zip from sdcard
Select choose zip from sdcard
Select the downloaded .zip.zip
select yes to confirm
wait for installation to finish (a few seconds)
Reboot (will take a while because of the modded services.jar, so BE PATIENT!) Pull Battery and boot up again if boot takes longer than 5 minutes
Enjoy your theme!
(With ADB)
Download the .zip to you computer
Extract the services.jar and framework-res.apk to where your ADB directory is
Plug your phone in with phone portal and ADB debugging enabled (settings>applications>development)
Open up your command prompt
Type these commands (after each, press enter):
Code:
cd [directory of adb and .jar and .apk]
adb remount
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb push services.jar /system/framework/services.jar
adb reboot
(reboot will take awhile because you are modding the services.jar, so BE PATIENT!) Pull Battery and boot up again if boot takes longer than 5 minutes

Very Cool, I have DroidX and wow it looks just like it in the pics! I am going to install this on my dev bravo and check it out.
One note to users, I would not use the services.jar w/o my ROM, the services.jar is deodexed and you cant mix a dedodexed services.jar w/ a non-deodexed framework, you will bootloop.

This is Very Cool Jorgonv!!!
Jorg, is there a way we can get an Odexed version of the "services.jar" file, for those who wish to use the stock rom?
How does it run on the hardware? Any issues so far?
I will probably flash back over to the latest RC and test it out.
Lately, i have preferred staying on the stock Rom, as it seems to score better in Quadrant... (i think maybe because of the deodexing, it needs to do more at start-up, leaving some resources still open, or used.)
Never-the-less, I think the Rom bandroidx has compiled for is is am amazing piece of work, and only the beginning to our list of supported Os versions!!!
I can't wait to load this theme up on the RC.
Will test it out and see how it goes!!
bandroidx,
Do you foresee any work with a complete vanilla gingerbread, or higher, version of android being cooked?
This bootloader situation seems kind of sticky to me, what kind of keywords would you recommend i search for, in efforts to overcome this limitation?
Thanks!!
I love it!
Two requests/questions:
*It seems like my "synching" notification icon never goes away?
* Any plans on including a circle battery icon?

Glad you like it. I've seen some people with the same syncing icon problem and the only solution was to wipe data.
I'm not planning to making it with a circle icon, this theme is only droid x 2.3.
I will be making more themes in the future, possibly with circular battery icons.

I dont think the odexed version would make the phone run any slower. I am running the rom fine at 1 ghz and no lag. The only difference is the first boot-up after wiping the cache. after that, it boots up at the normal speed

you should read android central's new piece of quadrant benchmarks. real world feel is probably a better indicator and the rom feels faster.
the rom removes bloatware and services that would usually run and waste memory like voice commander nad others, the deodexing if anything should speed things up.
i am starting to think odexing is just a way for a oem to lock things down a little more. but i really dont know too much about beyond the basics.
quadrant can be swayed far too much by IO, and io can be effected so easily in so many ways.
either way, i wouldnt concern yourself too much with quadrant scores when deciding to run the rom or not. quadrant can be a good indicator like when overclocking (and nothing else has changed except clock speed) but when it comes to different rom's I am not sure its as good of an indicator. I do own quadrant advanced though so I can run it on the rom and see what scores differ specifically, i am betting on IO, but who knows.
Tell you what...I'm not fond of the cost of these projects but I got a $30 donation if somehow you can change the swype color path to red...

Swype Beta, or the stock bravo one?
True. I flashed over to rc2, only, and it scored near the same rang as the stock..
I concur with the topic of real world feel, and benchmarks.. Benchmarks can only tell you so much..
Well, my interest is more towards breaking the boot loader moto has placed upon the newer phones.. Do you know of any current projects to defeat this you may be able to link me too?

Hey jorg,
When I installed the theme, my status bar text is still black, hard to see against the dark background.. Will you package the white text in the next edition?

Stock swype...I'm using the droid 2.3.3 theme and I was curious if you could plug code into it for red swype. i've been trying to use UOT Kitchen but for some reason, when I attempt to use it, all the tabs are greyed/inactive.

I checked the file and it seems to be already white. Try flashing the file again
just sent you the file you requested above...
also, i noted, i will have to try and clear the cache next time i install it, and see if that works...
Thanks Jorgonv!!
I'm having the same clock text color problem for the update, but I already tried re-flashing and that didn't work. I'm going to try doing the cache this time to see if it works.
Edit: After wiping both the Davlik cache and the cache partition I re-flashed, but the clock text didn't change. I'm probably doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out.

I'll look into it more since there is a couple of people having problems
Just to make sure, it is date font when you pull down the status bar that is still white?
Great job on this theme, it really is great!

[THEME][GT-P6200][CM9][Batt%]{DP3 ONLY!!}

just an accurate battery & mod for GT-P6200 for CM9 DP3
Flashing this on anything other than DP3 will likely result in bootloop.
Flash .zip in recovery. There shouldn't be a need to wipe anything.
Tried to keep image/size as close to stock as possible.
Enjoy.
Thanks to Aorth and Locerra and everyone who helped to build CM9 for our device!
Edit: Actually this may be possible with theme chooser. I was planning on making a theme chooser theme, but It seems limited/confusing and actually harder than just theming apks. So I will make a standard flashable themed .zip as well as a back to stock flashable .zip.
thanks for sharing~~~
i will have to refrain from theming until we have more of a final build.
please anyone report if this suddendly doesnt work with an alpha/ developer preview, etc.
thanks.
Not working
it did not work tab 6200 just kept on restarting ,
i even tried to place the stock one it also still doing the same thing
any fast solution i dont feel like restoring from back up wich i dont even thing that will do as well thanx for the effort anyways.
probably outdated, I was suspecting things would change.
just try advanced restore and restoring /system only, you should be all set.
This is why Im not going to theme until we have a RC1.
I could try the Tmobile Theme Engine, but it seems like more work and limited as what you can theme, etc.
I may even wait for JellyBean.
I will make a note in OP. Thanks.
I dont understand why CM9 doesnt have a numbered battery icon option?? just the numerical one with slim bar.
IF you're still interested in this MOD, and you have some apk skills, you can use UOT Kitchen and pick any numbered icon batt %. If it cooks successfully, use my icons to replace them. There are other ways to do this, but I would say that would be the easiest.
Peace.
