Currently no, if you have been in good standing with TMOUS they will issue the unlock most of the time.

Unlocked
Try to call them and see if they can provide you with Unlock code.
I called T-mobile on 2nd day after i got my Sensation to request unlock code. they open a case and gave me a case #, very next day after i called i received email from T-Mobile with code and instructions for unlocking. I pop my friends ATT sim and enter the code. now i have Sim Unlocked Sensation.
Rep @ TMO told me that they need to contact HTC and once HTC will give them a code they will email it to me. but they provide me the code in about 24 Hrs. that is super fast . Thank you TMO
By the way i am with TMO form last 4 yrs, so they gave me a code to unlocked the Sensation. oh I also got sensation for free for renewing the contract. thanks TMO

So you signed a new contract to get the phone and then immediately broke it and switched to at&t, with edge internet? That would be really nice of T mobile if they really did that but I don't imagine them giving the code, if there is one, that easily.especially being that most people who have the sensation just signed a two year contract.

Who said he switched to AT&t? He probably just wanted an unlocked Sensation

Email i got form TMO. Also check out the PIC I took
T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference: 4XXXXXX
IMEI: 3550XXXXXXXXXXX
Unlock Code: 051XXXXX
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Below you will see the Instructions for unlocking your HTC device.
1. Insert the foreign SIM card
2. Power on the device and the display should read "Please input unlock code"
3. Enter the unlock code and the device should display "Phone is unlocked."
4. Allow the phone to scan the network (or manually click on the antenna icon to do this)
It is very important that the instructions and SIM unlock code are entered correctly as listed. If you receive an error message while performing the instructions do not make any further attempts to unlock the handset. Please be aware that if an excessive amount of incorrect attempts are made, the phone will be permanently locked. You will need to verify the IMEI by pressing *#06# and contact Customer Care for support.
Thank You,

I'm thinking about picking up a Sensation 4G too - but I will be traveling to Europe frequently. I will have it unlocked and will use EU SIM cards. Now the question is, does the 4G support EU 3G bands?
When you pop in an AT&T SIM card - can you get 3G on the AT&T network? Or just EDGE?
Thanks!

1. Yes, the Sensation supports UMTS 2100, which is used in most countries for 3G. You won't be able to get 3G in countries that use 850, but there are only a few of those. You can check specific countries here:
http://www.gsmarena.com/network-bands.php3?sCountry=GERMANY
or here:
http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
2. As mentioned above unlocking a US Sensation 4G does not enable 850 3G, which is required for full coverage on ATT's network. So, you can only get EDGE. Pretty sure the European and Canadian versions of the Sensation do support 850 3G.

[Q] Using the Inspire 4G overseas after SIM/IMEI unlock.

Hope you guys can help me.
I will like to buy the Inspire 4G thru amazon and plan to use it in Costa Rica, where we use the same 2G and 3G bands as AT&T (850). Nevertheless I’m not sure if after the SIM/IMEI unlock, it will work with a Costa Rican SIM card? It is very common for us to buy unlocked At&t or T-Mobile phones and use them in Costa Rica.. but I have my concerns.
Last December I bought a Prepaid AT&T Phone (Samsung A107) on a trip to the US, but after doing a SIM/IMEI unlock, the Prepaid phone didn’t recognized my Costa Rican SIM card. And even before that, while still been in the US, I was not even able to use the AT&T SIM card on my unlocked Touch Pro2 (EUR version).
My worst fear is that AT&T is doing some sort of “Hard Sim Lock” to their phones.. and I will kill myself for buying an expensive paperweight.
Your thoughts and comments will be highly appreciated.
Hi, I can't 100% answer your question but I do know why your SIM cards weren't interchangeable. We lock all PUK codes on all prepaid SIM cards to where you can only use that SIM on that phone. If you would've gotten a "regular" SIM you could've used it on another carriers phone. As to why the non AT&T SIM didn't work maybe they scammed you and it never got unlocked.

Using Inspire 4G in Costa Rica.
Thanks for your explanation. So basically and after reading other posts regarding unlocking this phone, the Inspire 4G should work overseas without any inconveniences, after inserting the SIM/IMEI unlock code that you buy from any “respected” and “trusted” site (and as long as the 3G Band is 850) ?
I was going to buy the unlocked Desire HD (Eur Version), but regretfully it wouldn’t work with any Latam 3G Band (as it happened with my Touch Pro2, that only works with 3G band 2100+900).
I got an Inspire 4G on Monday, unlocked it, and my existing SIM card from another country (also in latam) worked right away. Been using it since then both in the US and back home.
So unless there is some lock on the SIM card itself, it should work fine, I think.
That’s the answer I was looking for!! You made my day. To be honest, I want to change from Winmo to Android so badly… that this phone seems to be the right deal.
Quick question just before going to amazon and start my order: Which system did you used to get the Unlock code? I have read in other forums, that some folks have been using htcimeiunlock with excellent results (I’m not related to that company by the way). I just like to hear a second opinion.
And once again..Thank you so much for your assistance!!
Got my phone unlocked
Hey
I'm from Venezuela, and I unlocked my HTC Inspire 4G from AT&T at unlockusa.com. I chose them because they're top-rated sellers at eBay and seemed trustworthy. I got my unlock code within 5 minutes, and everything worked as expected.
Hope you enjoy your new phone!
Yes, I used htcimeiunlock.com. Got my unlock code in a few minutes with no problems whatsoever.

Hmm 2 new members and advertising new site?
The AT&T Inspire only has North American UMTS radios 850 and 1900 Mhz. It lacks the 2100 radio necessary for 3 and 4G in Europe.
The phone will work on Europe's 2G Edge network. HTC should have put the 2100 Mhz radio in the Inspire but they didn't. This is the real gripe I have with this phone.

Doesn't the desire hd cover the european market with 2100? I suppose if you are traveling it is an issue but otherwise I see no reason for att to be adding something to this phone that already exists in one of its twins. Also it is not marketed as a "world" phone by at&t either.
Whats the key code / combination on the inspire to check the status of the sim?
I may be new on the forums, but I've been lurking for a while. Heck, I learned about that site from here, and the various threads on the forum on unlocking/rooting were one of the things I kept in mind when deciding to buy the phone.
geogkdam asked if the site worked; all I'm saying is it worked for *me*. I claim no guarantees it would work for anyone else, and frankly, I don't care much either; I'm just happy I was able to unlock the phone I bought on Monday withing a few minutes.

It'll work on EDGE in Europe, which sucks for data, but at 20 bucks a megabyte while roaming, why would you want to?
I'll be taking my Inspire to London and Paris in a couple months and since I need to be reachable on my own number, I will suck it up and roam, but data will be off, so I couldn't give a crap about whether or not it's EDGE or 3G. It'll just be voice and text, and not much of that. I have an AT&T Nexus One with the 2100 band that I'll be bringing along too, I'll grab a local SIM and use that for data. I'll just have personal hotspot turned on and connect my Inspire to it.
try cellunlocker.net they unlocked it for me

AT&T also offers packages which would reduce your voice, data and text costs. Have you looked into them? Here's a link
I can't provide a link since I don't have the min. number of posts required to post here but Google "AT&T World" and you'll get the necessary info. The texting deal is a good deal if you plan to text between 20 and 50 texts. If less than 20 just go with the standard .50/text sent from Europe. If between 20&50 opt for the $10 one time charge (which drops your per text rate to .20/text).
I would also assume that free Wi-FI hotspots are plentiful around Europe??? Does anyone have first-hand experience with that?

Does the TMOUS Galaxy S 4G work in Nicaragua?

I have the Galaxy S 4G TMOUS branded, and I am going to visit Nicaragua for 3 months, and I am wondering, if I can get an unlock code and take the phone with me and use a prepaid plan over there?
This phone has GSM support:

Check websites for local cell phone providers in Nicaragua and see if they have support for it. As far as I know some people have successfully unlocked their phones. Should let you get on any GSM network

If the have a GSM network it should work. As far as unlocking goes if you have Tmobile as a carrier now just call 611 and ask them to unlock it. They will send you the unlock code and directions via email. Just did this the other day and they had the code to me within 24 hours.
How long had u have this Tmobile contract? If you have it for at 3 months or more you can just ask tmobile to unlock it for you.

unlock for t-mobile?

is it possible to get the at&t mini and unlock it for t-mobile? wasn't sure if it takes awhile for the mini to be unlockable and are the carriers compatible with one another? from what I understand both work off of gsm but will I have issues with t-mobiles 4g/etc...
I just got my at&t one mini unlocked today and can receive/send voice and text without issue using a T-Mobile USA sim card. However, I don't yet have any data connection. I was told it could take up to 24 hours so I'll report back tomorrow.
Hooray for me! Just called T-Mobile tech support and they walked me through manually configuring the APN and now I've got voice, text, and freakin' LTE! I was told this phone wouldn't work with our LTE, but it looks like they were WRONG! HTC One mini on T-Mobile USA FTW!

My apologies if this question is foolish, but AT&T says they can't unlock my htc one mini for me, even though I paid for it in full, says there is no unlock code for it. Talk to tech support and everything, and they still deny there is a code available.
So I try ebay and other pay for code websites; probably like 8 of them can't find an unlock code. They have even searched the 'not found' databases.
Is it possible to have a phone that is 'unlockable?" or one that has no code for it? Are there any alternative methods to unlock the sim to use on other networks? I've never had such a hard time finding an unlock code for a cell phone.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide!

As mentioned earlier, this same thing happened to me. The customer service reps don't know why, but their computers tell them they don't have an unlock code. They have to open a "case" for you and some technical guru will call you back with the unlock code.
Keep in mind (I found this out the hard way), unless you root the phone, you won't be able to use the WiFi hotspot feature on T-mobile.

Well...I've done this, opened a case number, and the response was I was not eligable. Said I have to have active service for 6 months before I can have an unlock code. I manage to buy this outright on a gophone account.
Is it possible to software unlock via cable or some alternate method? It doesn't look like AT&T is willing to help me out. I'm not looking to use on T-mobile, I want to use this out of country.

Well I finally managed get an unlock code through AT&T.
Spent and hour last week with tech support, and then a supervisor had to then request the unlock code specially on my behalf to another person higher up. Got a case number and 1 week later this morning got the code. It was a painful process, totally not worth the time. Better to pay for the code.
I had tried cellunlocker.net 2 weeks ago, but I guess the code wasn't available then but is now.
Note to self; don't buy a phone when its totally brand new to unlock, wait a few weeks or months.

Will this G5 (H830) work on the AT&T LTE bands?

I want to purchase a G5 and am wondering if will be more prudent to get an international unlocked one for AT&T or get the tmobile version and unlock it. The GSMarena website shows that both phones (the H830 and H820) carry different bands (no 29 and 30 for the tmobile version). Although straight from the LG website both the 820 and 830 show the EXACT same band supports. Thanks!

Don't know yet but I am having a hard time getting my g5 to sim unlock today. T-mobile said it should unlock through the app but it has not worked for me yet even though I met all of there requirements. They said they are escalating the issue. I think maybe they are having technical difficulties with the unlock server. But surely they will figure it out. I will try to report back.
I'm wondering this too. It looks like it should specs wise.
Clear the data on the unlock app and try again, had an issue with a Xperia z3 recently where the app wouldn't allow me to unlock despite being paid off and on the network for over a year, rep said to clear the app data and try again, worked like a charm after trying for three weeks and speaking to 5 different reps who all had varying solutions, one even said she needed to submit a request and id be emailed once approved, last guy was like nope, once it meets requirements its an automatic procedure server side. So I did as he asked and boom!

I unlocked it though the app seems there was an issue with the unlock server at t-mobile as the unlocked app failed many times. I called tech support many times but finally i got an email with instructions how to unlock it later with the app and i tried it again and it worked. It said "unlock failed: Unlock Approved: Mobile device is permanently unlocked."
I think the unlock failed was a typing error. but it is now indeed unlocked. tech support had to do something to allow it to be unlocked. I would say keep calling support until it works. now I think I must use my old att phone imei# in order to get LTE working? It seems if your phone imei# is not in a whitelist they wont let u access lte network? If anyone knows how to get Lte working let me know pls?
AT&T 4G LTE is working for me
AT&T LTE is finally working for me. Note to anyone looking to use this phone on AT&T LTE the sim you use must first be activated in AT&T phone first , to enable 4G LTE if it is a new sim. Or if you already got a sim in a phone and LTE is working it should work in the phone if you have correct APN settings.
It seems the sim has to be provisioned in a AT&T brand phone with its imei # which i believe is white-listed for LTE on a AT&T server.
Yes my device is now sim unlocked and I am using it on AT&T now.
I am using my T-Mobile G5 on cricket an AT&T mvno. I switched because they have a totally unlimited plan for $70/Mo only catch is they throttle your speeds to 8 megs down on LTE and 4 megs down on 4G. I bought my phone outright from T-Mobile used it for 2 months on T-Mobile prepaid on the $50 plan and T-Mobile unlocked it for me through the app. I had no problem at all getting LTE from cricket once I put in the correct APN settings. LTE showed up within 30 min after number was ported from T-Mobile.

Question att s22ultra and tmobile sim

Hello everyone I have a question i just oderded a s22 ultra from att I have a 3 year contract with them for device payments but basically the phone was free. I also have a tmobile acct i dont plan on canceling either. I have the magenta max on tmobile and an unlimited on att is it possible to use my phone on both networks with the phone being locked to att or am i able to change sims and use it as long as i keep both accts current. I am not trying to do anything shady just wondering if i can use it on both networks would much rather do that becuase it gives me so much more for hot spots since i can use the 50 from att and the 40 from tmobile i know i could if the phone was unlocked but i cant do that for three years
Thanks in advance
no, its locked to att networks (mvno will work too)
Thanks for the reply
i figured it would be locked but it would of been nice to be able to work on both. what is mvno?

All of the US models support dual SIM (physical SIM plus eSIM). You should be able to use the physical SIM for one network, and the eSIM for the other. AT&T will most likely be the primary (physical SIM) and T-Mobile the secondar (E-SIM). Once you get it activated on AT&T go into Settings -> Connections -> SIM card manager.
From there it will allow you to "Add mobile plan" for the eSIM. That should allow you to active your T-Mobile account.
I don't know how that works in practice and you may have to talk to both AT&T and T-Mobile to work it out.
oh wow that is awesome thanks for letting me know
this is off the topic but are any of you using screen and camera protectors on top of using a case?
You need to get the device unlocked to have it work on T-Mobile at all, ESIM or physical. You have 2 choices: Pay off the device in full and then request a SIM unlock, or pay for an unlock service on Ebay. AT&T won't do **** for you until the device is paid in full.

Yes. AT&T will require it to be paid off to unlock the physical SIM. The eSIM isn't activated and therefore probably isn't locked. As long as he's using it on its network with the physical SIM, I don't think AT&T will care about the eSIM being used on T-mobile.
This is kinda new territory with phones being produced with both physical SIM and eSIM.
I can tell you with 100% certainty, it's locked.

Not true. AT&T unlocked my Note 20 ultra that was still under contract. I told them I was going overseas for an extended period of time and they unlocked my phone. I had 13 payments left.
