I just purchased a movie and tried to play it over WT and I get a msg saying this movie was downloaded to another device. Anyone seen this yet!?
It seems that when I try to play the movie it thinks I am trying to play it on my Bolt... anyway around this?

I read the thread regarding watching the movie thru YouTube and I tried to use that work around but I received the same message that it had been downloaded on another device.
Like I say I think it just simply will not work thru wireless tether because both devices have the same IP address..... maybe?

when i go to watch netflix movies on my gtab the website lets me click on the movie but wont play it. it does it on certain websites too to watch videos. any suggestions?
Netflix is using the Microsoft Silverlight plugin to play the movies in a browser. This is not available for Android.
Playon is supposed to be released for Andriod ..... it plays netflix ....that seems to be the closest, soon to be viable option
Android app supposed to come this century. Hopefully that will help our streaming woes.

If they ever do it that would be nice. I have Playon loaded on my server and using an app called upnplay I can access Playon, but so far have not been able to play anything. It tries, and then quits.

Hey man just use ice films (WWW.icefilms.info) , similar to Netflix. If u have cookies enabled u can save the shows/movies you want to see by clicking on the yellow star next to the title. I wrote a how to guide for it. I can't post links yet but I just wrote it yesterday. The thread is called, How to get icefilms to work on the g tab.
Hope this helps ya out.

I've heard that i doesn't work on rooted phones, i installed the new market, it should install along with the new market but it didn't. I guess that's due to me being rooted.

set the browser ua to desktop by typing about:useragent in the adress bar. then log into the gmail desktop site. once logged into google go to the web market at market.android.com/movies
the movies will play in the browsers video player at 480p which is the phones native res anyhow, I'm sure this is the same as google video will play it. they are hosted by youtube and I don't see the hq modes on my pc so id guess that's the quality limit.
this way it will play throuh mhl with no problems.
im rooted. the download wouldnt install from the market. it would start and then just stop for no reason. so i installed from apk. it works now, and with the market too. divx movies forward over to play in the samsung player.

Hey Jack thanks for the apk. It installed just fine but when I tried to play a movie I rented from the market (Wedding Crashers Unrated) I got the following error:
Playback not supported on rooted devices (Error 49)
Have you rented a flick from the market and if so were you able to watch it? I'm rooted and running Infused 153. Thanks again man.
Set the browser user agent to desktop, browse to the Android Market website, and launch the movie from there. Think that may work.
nope, i have yet to see anything i would want to rent over netflix.

ok, I'm a complete novice so can someone please tell me how to do this? I'm getting the rooted error 49 too and have no idea how to get the movie to play. I don't know how to open it in the browser either, so I am totally lost. I have a feeling I just wasted 3.99. Lol.

Dose the phone have a data connection? It needs to squire a license, for some.reason I think Samsung locked the license to only download over cellular. I haven't used it in a while but it may help to turn, off wifi temporarily. But it may have changed or I may be thinking of something else.
Like the title implies, i cant watch a movie on my HDTV that I just rented from the play store. I have a few movies through Flixter that play just fine. It mirrors everything on my pad except when I go to watch the movie that I downloaded from the playstore. I can hear the audio but it doesn't mirror the image for the movie. I tried clearing the apps cache, I tried different tv's, I downloaded the full movie rental, restarting my device, unplugging and re-plugging. Im so mad at google for this mess. Can anybody help me out here! I went to ASUS web site and could'nt find help. I tried to read my user manuel and it had nothing, I went to google and I tried what they asked. Im really thinking about returninig this pad if I cant get this to work. I love this thing, but this would really be a deal breaker for me.
Wow, I thought I would have got some help by now. Maybe there's just to many people asking stupid questions for any valid questions to get answered.

I think this is a result of google. I was unable to do the same while on stock. No problem with other movies, but would not work with anything in the play store.
This is an epic fail by Google and Asus. Everyone needs to know about this. Im considering returning my pad and buying an apple product for the 1st time. I know that sounds crazy but that's how pissed I am with Google. Here's a great thread I found that shows others Asus devices having the same problem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226472
Calling all devs
Can a dev please make a mod fix this?
Can anybody watch their rented or bought movie from the Google play store on their HDTV with their ASUS tf300 through an hdmi cable?
If the hdmi mirroring works with other apps - browser etc, then you are doing everything right.
In their wisdom, Asus have failed to correctly implement the hdcp protocol across the tf range which means that Google Play Movies doesn't work in this way either - despite the fact that it should
It is the DRM that's the problem. Either by the app developers or with the Asus coding for hdcp.
There is no workaround & we have been waiting to get a reply from the official Asus rep here on this (Asus_USA) for months now...
I came across this in the transformer forums.

I haven't tried any movies, but tv shows that I purchased from the play store play fine on my tv through my tf300.

Try To Rent a movie to see if it works. Ask for a refund if it doesn't. Youll see what I'm talking about. Finally someone that has had the same issue. Is their no rom that fixes this issue?
I have verizon as an isp. Well, I bought a movie and I can't watch it on my tablet. Verizon wants to install silverlight, but it's not compatible with this tablet. Does anyone have any input on this? THanks
What is the movie saved as? .m4v .mkv?
If you have the actual file on your device then it should open with something like BSPlayer. Bsplayer plays every file type that I know of. Free from the Google play store. If you are trying to stream from online and it is asking for a desktop windows plugin that is not available on android then I am afraid I do not know how you can play it.
Where did you buy the movie from?
You can watch movies from a number of places. The easiest is to purchase the movie from the Play Store then it will show up on your "Play Movies and . . " app. Then you can stream it over wifi or download it and watch it offline later.
Give us a bit more info and I'm sure we can figure it out.
Dice Player ftw. It has gone free, has hardware-decoding ability, nice interface and is good to battery, has gesture control.
(I like vPlayer for its gallery features, but the last time I actually used it, it didn't play as many files as Dice does -- I just browse to them with Total Commander and set Dice as the default app to open the respective file extension with -- tadaah!)
EDIT: I have lots of local files to play, so I didn't get into the streaming part others already pointed out -- I don't have enough experience with it.

Where did you get the movie? Sounds like you're trying to watch it through a web browser. My guess, you got it through some Verizon VOD service.
I bought it from the verizon site.

you have the option to either stream it, or download it. It would not let me download it because of drm problems. I'm running cleanrom 2.2. My wife has a stock tf300 tablet, not rooted, and she can play it on hers
I bought it from the verizon store,(vod). It's a drm problem. Like I said, my wife can play it on her tablet. Thanks for the input
