pit file question. - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

can we use the pit file from gingerbread to odin stock kd1?

DON'T USE PIT FILES. Unless you've read somewhere with specific instructions on using a pit file, don't use it! Most of the time you'll only need a PDA file in Odin.
But to answer your question, I believe you're asking if you can odin back to KD1 from Gingerbread? Yes you can, if you're able to put your phone into download mode, you can Odin whatever rom (Odin-compatible rom) you want on it.

because i have that gingerbread boot loader on froyo.

You need to odin back to
Kc1, using pit, pda, csc and phone files.

HELP! Odin to T959VUVKAB

Ok, so I attempted to Odin back to the leaked stock KAB file using the leaked PIT for the Vibrant 4g.
Everything seemed to work fine on the Odin side of the house, but now my phone only boots into recovery. Any help.
I am using Odin 1.81
The PIT uploaded by krylon360
The leaked T959VUVKAB tar
I placed the TAR in the PDA section of Odin
Any help is greatly appreciated.
If your rooted you can adb push a launcher on it.

If you searched the dev section that PIT doesn't work and will brick your phone like it did mine. I had to get my phone replaced. Even Krylon said not to use it in one of a couple threads in here. There are plenty of warnings in the DEV section saying not to use any PIT files.
How can I put this...
DO NOT USE PIT! DO NOT USE PIT! DO NOT USE PIT!
That is all.

If you use the pit file from this thread above with this ee4 download link below it should work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172182&highlight=vzw+ee4
This is the official vzw file. I had to use this one in order to get it to run back to stock ee4. All other ee4 odin files did not work for me.

If you use the official Odin image, I believe so.
If it doesn't, there is an official stock Recovery image that is Odin flashable floating around somewhere.
Yes it will.

What is considered as a stock odin image? Would it just have to be a stock tar. file from the NooB sticky? Is Sammobile the best place to get this file?
Thanks

Yes and yes.
I use sammobile. But you'll have to extract the .tar.md5 file out of the zip you download from Sam. Use 7-zip to do that.

[Q]How to flash stock ROM from Samsung site

I tried doing some research but with no luck. I wanted to ask if there is a way to flash a completely stock ROM I download straight from the Samsung site using maybe CWM or Odin. And how would I go on to have it rooted? I've just been having issues even with the stock debloated ROM available so I want to give this a try. Thanks in advance for any feedback and help

So first register at www.sammobile.com, then search SGH-T769 under firmware and download the August 2012 ICS or The Feb 2013 ICS Firmware, wait for the download to finish (took me 30 minutes) then extract which ever firmware zip you downloaded then using Odin click on PDA and select the .md5 file which is located in the extracted ICS Firmware Folder that you've downloaded from sammobile.com
Download the PIT file here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919228
Click on PIT in Odin and then select the one downloaded from the link above
then make sure re-partition isn't checked and start the flashing process after it is done flashing and reboots you'll have stock ics to root it simply follow the instructions over at the root ics stock thread found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919228
This will flash a custom recovery and once the recovery is flashed using Odin reboot into recovery and flash the superuser.zip then you'll have Rooted Stock ICS Firmware
*BOOT LOOP MIGHT OCCUR*
To fix boot looping after flashing stock ICS just boot into stock or custom recovery and wipe data and cache then reboot and you're good to go.

The only thing I will add here is that you don't need the .pit file (it also eliminates the chance of accidental re-partition). Just use the .tar.md5 file as the pda and flash. Also, there isn't any chance of boot looping when flashing the file from the samfirmware site. First boot will take up to 10 minutes.

The PIT I wasn't sure if it was needed or not so I always used it just in case and actually I waited patiently and my phone did bootloop.

Not for ICS you don't. In fact, you only need the .pit for flashing CWM.
For rooting GB 2.3.x then you need the pit.

To be honest even that's debatable - I haven't used it the last several times flashing cwm via odin. Ymmv of course
Being honest I just follow the instructions to avoid bricks
