Found a really cool app that could help a lot of us out who are on data limits, call limits, etc.
It can show you wifi totals, data totals, call totals, and more. It also can let you set limits and all that fun stuff.
One thing that is pretty cool is that it can show you data usages per app. Really helped me cut out which app was draining my batter.
Check it out.

I just wanted to share with all of you a fantastic app called Glympse.
It is free and very useful.
It allows you to send a link to a map that tracks your location. You choose how long the link is active for and whether it displays your speed.
So, for example, if you are on your way to a friends and they txt you asking where you are and when you'll arrive... you can send them a link that is only active for 30 min (or how ever long you wish) and they can track you on their computer or smartphone.
This is better then Latitude because it works with all phones, all addresses (email or sms), and is temporary. Check out their website for a better explanation of the app.
I love it... you might too. Give it a shot and support a great dev.

pretty neat, thanks for sharing
Hate to bump up a super old thread however I think this needs some re-hashing on how great this app is.
I've been fighting to find a decent real time GPS tracker for quite a while. Each one I find has some sort of obnoxious limitation that drives me insane. Google Latitude was one of the ones I thought for sure would be a home run, except.. it wasn't. I mean, it works great, don't get me wrong... but it's a little ridiculous that I have ZERO configurable options to enable GPS to run even in the background. Nearly every other app I've used does. Not even the option to have GPS "check in" every 10 minutes? Really?
That said, I moved on, and now have been using Glympse. Super handy, super accurate, and doesn't require a specific kind of email address. Makes it that much more cross-compatible and less of a headache. "Oh, you need a Gmail address, just go register for one quick." None of that.
Overall, it's a must to at least have installed. I find it much easier to just Glympse a family member my location so they know when I'm getting home. Recently I would have had a huge use for this as we got hit with some nasty floods. I was driving for many hours to find other roads that were not closed. It would have been nice to have had this just so family members knew I was still on the move and still on my way home.
Anyway, check it out. I'm a fan.
So my battery life sucks balls. with light to moderate use i have gone from 100% at 9am to 15% at 2:47pm. that is pretty damn horrible. using spare parts i have noticed that the uid's 0 and 1013 are using an enormous amount of network data. Something like over 400MB total since i unplugged the phone. That could be whats killing my battery life but i have no idea what the hell they are. I read other threads where the most specific they got was "media"
can anyone shed light on this?
uid's don't do much for us. Can you please tell us what the processes are? Not trying to bu rude, but gathering info? Also, not guaranteed, but have you used ad-blocking of any type? I tend to find some apps full a lot af data for that (rare, and usually bugs, not intentional) Or possibly you streamed audio or something and forgot? Once again, I'm going on things I have done, so not being insulting.
EDIT: UID, I typed UUID, which is unique and would have helped, but they have nothing to do with this XD

Well unforunately i can't back out which processes are the ones using the data or tied to that uid since spare parts doesnt tell me. I do have adblocker but i wasnt using any apps that had ads in them. mostly used the music player and sent a couple texts and messages using kik. i didnt stream any music or anything else.
I'm not really sure of any apps that track what is using data. Possible 3g watchdog pro (the free one tracks all data, but pro may do all) I'll look around the market, but looks like most are paid apps.
I'm currently using Call Meter NG to keep a track of Calls Data and SMS although it's good it does not take into account unlimited plans.
Is anyone using another app which is better or can offer more customisation?
i have tried Call Meter 3G Beta, Droidstats, Stats Free and Planalyze Free but none are quite right.
any ideas warmly received!!
Droidstats works perfect for me.
Mybe you need to play with the settings?
3g watchdog, the pro version, might be what you need. Though none of them are 100% accurate
Droid Stats
Call statistics
Hello, I'm using Callistics. Which has better graphics and is intuitive.
With mango...wp7 brings lot of new features and enhancements....
for exampel the people tile updates show lot of people photos from (facebook, live messenger, linkedin etc...)....fetching facebook/twitter/linkedin/messenger updates happens alot too..
there isn't any app or built in functionality to calculate the data usage (unless your carrier has an wp7 app)...
so i was wondering hows the data usage on mango?
Yes, i guess this is really one of the big things missing in Mango. It is especially annoying when i go outside the country, i have 150 mb for roaming every month and wp7 mango doesnt allow me to see how much im using, i hope that with the new SDK new apps with this functionality come out to the marketplace,.
I agree, a bandwidth monitoring application will be really useful.
Also the cellular data connection and WiFi bandwidth usage should be split.
What would be even more awesome is if we can get a breakdown of how much each application/service has used.
eg. IE has used 90MB on WiFI and 20MB on 3G, XDA Dev app has used 5MB on WiFi etc.
I think this is a must have app for smartphone users so please vote for this feature here

First off, I have used My Data Manager and Onavo (previously, among others) for a long time to view detailed stats about data usage via mobile, wi-fi and they are great...can set limits and see detailed graphs and data on usage and also "per app" but all of these programs are your basic "trackers and loggers" and you can see, even specific app data usage but in a more general "over a period of time" kind of way...
I'm using KK 4.4.4 now and AOSP/CM11, etc.. lots of awesome customizations...and rooted of course... recently turned on a neat status bar feature (not readily available in stock roms and not all mods) to see *live* bandwidth usage numbers in real-time right next to my network status.. so it shows the upload and download rates in b/kb/mb that the phone is currently transferring...nice to see..glad to have that feature now..
Now, with that being said...(and i know why this is - all the background apps and services that are syncing and updating all the time) there is rather constant data every few seconds...it's small (usually) but very regular...
****************So this is my actual question and what i'm looking for****************
All I am looking for, is a way (app, service, setting, etc) to view some sort of monitor of LIVE app/service data that will show *exactly* what apps and background services are currently syncing and sending/receiving data...in "real-time"
All the various data apps don't really do this in any way such as this... I have searched a lot for something like this but to no avail..and in a rather tedious and round-a-bout way, there are ways to sort of get what i'm looking for..but nothing rather simple and in one spot for everything on the phone in real-time...
****************************
Plenty of pc programs that can achieve this..whether data loggers or even firewall/security software...maybe something like that is ported to Android...
So anyone using something to do this or know of a way that I can accomplish this?
Thanks
