Version 1.1
What is the ACS Updater?
ACS Updater is an app for android devices that allows you to download and install custom roms, kernels, themes, and modems from the internet on the fly. It's very simple to use: run the app, select what you want to install. You will get a screen asking if you want to wipe cache / backup first. Select options, and hit OK. The file will download from the net to /sdcard/ACSDownloads, and when complete, will reboot into recovery and install automatically.
Backup and Restore can also be done via the app, as well as Installing from SD Card, and even Install from URL - put in whatever URL you want, and it will download and install (if you put in a URL to something that isn't a flashable zip, and try to install it, that's your fault.)
In future releases, there will be more goodies, stay tuned!
Notes:
If you choose not to wipe cache, and the flash goes bad, that's on you. It's there as an option, but I'm not going to force it.
If you hit an area (such as Themes), and it says nothing available:
Developer's have not submitted anything for your device
Servers are temporarily down - try again in a couple minutes
This App depends on a custom recovery which includes extendedcommands
Developers:
Want your work listed in the app? Simply submit your info to the following links (whichever applies), and I'll get it added to the database.

ACS updater documentation:
ACS updater: ACS updater is an app developed by ACSyndicate member Parabola and themed by Graphics Designer and ACSyndicate member Zhkilla. The app will allow users to install varioius ACS themes, kernels, roms, modems (radios), as well as files found on the sd card and on user selected URL’s. The app will also function as a custom recovery providing the user the option to create and restore nandroid backups that are stored on the sd card. The main interface of the app is a menu screen with the following selectable menus. The ACS updater recognizes the users devices and points them to appropriate directory for available downloads.
Install ROM: takes users to the directory specific to their device and serves them available ROMS. After user selects the apporpriate ROM the ACS updater will prompt the user to:
A. Clear Cache and/or B. Backup (Nandroid) the ACS updater will then download and flash the appropriate file automatically.
Install Kernel: takes users to directory specific to their device and serves them available Kernels. After user selects the appropriate Kernel the ACS updater will prompt the user to: A. Clear Cache and/or B. Backup (Nandroid). The ACS updater will then download and flash the appropriate file automatically.
Install Theme: takes users to directory specific to their device and serves them available Themes. After user selects the appropriate Theme the ACS updater will prompt the user to: A. Clear Cache and/or B. Backup (Nandroid). The ACS updater will then download and flash the appropriate file automatically.
Install Modem: takes users to directory specific to their device and serves them available Modem. After user selects the appropriate Modem the ACS updater will prompt the user to: A. Clear Cache and/or B. Backup (Nandroid). the ACS updater will then download and flash the appropriate file automatically
Install from SD Card: this will allow user to flash files from their SD card. The conents of their SD card will then appear on the screen. The ACS updater will prompt the user to: A. Clear Cache and/or B. Backup (Nandroid). The ACS updater will then download and flash the appropriate file automatically.
Download from URL: The download from URL option allows the user to input a url to download files to be flashed from. ACS updater handles these files in the same way as those listed above.
Backup: Allows users to create Nandroid backups. The user can select a name for their back up. The phone reboots into recovery and makes a full Nandroid backup.
Restore: allows users to restore Nandroid backups from SD card root.

This looks really well done. Does this work in conjunction with a recovery like amon_ra or does it work independently of the existing recovery?
Very nice looking work here, guys.

It's meant to work with any recovery that has extendedcommands (except stock...)
So it should work with amon-ra, definitely works with clockwork.
Thanks for the kind words!

you guys are the best.

Thank you, this looks awesome.

Nice work. Glad to see some new stuff from ACS. Srf 1.1.1 is what convinced me to root my phone in the first place.

On the QB video he has a few themes and roms I'm coming up with nothing right now???

For the epic? Parabola is updating the server and uploading more and more things

is this app going to support the CyanogenMod and MIUI community? What about nightlys? i do like this app for easy access to modems and kernels but everything else seems like what Rom Manager does no offense to anyone.

Wonderful job guys! really hope this takes off.

It happens sometimes. However, if your build.prop ro.product.device field has been modified, and no longer says SPH-D700 - you'll get nothing. That's how it knows what to look for.

Update -
We are currently experiencing some server side issues with the host. We will be migrating to a new server soon, and will be publishing a new version of the app to accommodate the server change. With this new version we will also be adding a couple goodies, so stay tuned

You guys are awesome. Quick question, some roms you would have to flash the rom, and then immediately flash a kernal after (like SRF 1.2) how does that work with this? Since some people would be stuck on the samsung screen because they didn't flash a kernal right after they flashed the rom.

Flash the kernel before the Rom....I Believe!

Oh okay, wiping all data before flashing the rom wont get rid of the kernal?

and what if the kernel is a different version of android than the current rom?
Also, I suggest some sort of version check just for that reason. Just to help idiot proof people from putting a froyo kernel on their ef02 build... or vice versa in the future.

Regaw -
Does this allow the market to update said apps? Or no?.
One thing thats frustrating to me although minor in the grand scheme of things is preinstalled nonstock apps may or may not show updates in the market.
And how does this differ from just reinstalling those saved apps from your sdcard (because i backup my favorite apps after i install them) after you start over from scratch or restore from an old nandroid backup
What say you ye app creator

Not sure on the market updates, will check tomorrow. It differs from the sdcard backups by making a signed zip to flash in recovery instead of clicking each one to install in a root explorer. You can do all that at once by flashing a zip. I'm sure you know that though lol This app also contains most of the stock 2.2 apps that came on the phone as well.

[ROM] PUBLIC ALPHA - FRF91 Vanilla Android By AngDroid(MotoBoy) & Matt4542

This is a ALPHA ROM so please do not ask when things will be fixed or how to fix them. Just know that they will be fixed in the next days.
We will not get into that you need to backup your stuff and please do not spam thread asking how to back up, root, or anything like that. If you are isntalling this ROM you should know how to do all that.
Pics & video HERE
History of how this came to be...
AngDroid was messing with the Droid2 SDK when he decided to see if it would boot. It did needless to say. AngDroid(MotoBoy) and I began to put the peices together and this is where we are at.
The SDK is based on FRF91 which is what all VZ D2 ROMs are based on. I compared every file from FRF91 to VZW_2.4.5 and almost all of the common files were identical. The files that were present in 2.4.5 and not in FRF91 were driver files and other misc. files. The files that were in FRF91 and not in 2.4.5 were emulator files. We combined the two and added the proper packages to bring us where we are now.
We were able to remove all blur items and got the vanilla Android dialer and contacts to work, first for the D2. You will see some D2 files in ROM and it may look like 2.4.5 but that is becuase I forgot to edit the build.prop and to get market working in next release. This is a super clean ROM like what you would find in an AOSP build.
Funny thing is AngDroid nearly returned his D2 a couple of hours before this all started for a DX. His Verizon store finally got them in and he was so tempted. Good thing he did not have the box with me or he would be a new DX owner.

Market will not download programs. - No fix yet. If you are the type of user who is going to use this ROM then you will know how to install your apps. Please do not spam thread asking how to install apps.
Keyboard and menu backlight not working - No fix yet.
After Master Clear from within OS when you are prompted to Activate you will not see dialpad. Just slide out keyboard, press 1 and activate.
I am sure there are a few more bugs but that is most noticable right now.

Maybe beta build tomorrow or in a couple of days. Need phone as phone and need to test a bit more. The beta build is in some testers hands and we are getting good feedback.
Also, doing all this I think I MAY have figured out a way to get a different kernel going. This phone is my only phone including landline and I can not be SBFing all day like what I did from Friday to Monday to get this sucker running. I can not give a time frame on how long it would take but it might be POSSIBLE

You two are amazing! Great work on this and this is a great accomplishment.
This is great news! It's nice to see development still continuing on this phone, despite seeing some disheartening twitter posts about how the bootloader is not going to get cracked

CM6 yes, sense probably not.
I'm using this. So far so good. Memory is a good 100mb higher that usual. Only bug I have found is kind of sporatice. Sometimes when I open my keyboard to respond to a text it doesnt write. I just close the messenger and reopen and its fine. I'm trying to figure out how to repeat it but can't.

Thanks again Matt. You guys rock!
This is great, can't wait to get a final build of this up and running on my D2! I'm also extremely excited to hear you might have a way to run a custom kernel. I was reading some posts over on droidforums (I think it was droid forums) about the AOSP guys using a rather complex boot sequence (they said essentially, a 2nd boot) to get the phone to load a custom kernel.

[APP] Flash Image GUI - Flash Kernels and Recoveries from normal Android mode!

Credits:
birbeck for the usual random java guidance, slushpupie for his previous java guidance, dodgejcr for extreme amounts of testing, and one_love_420 and shift for some great graphics!
testers: JT-, couga6442, happytweak and many others I might have forgot in the furry of three days I built the initial app from scratch.!
Thanks to SDX
Background:
flash_image (bmlwrite) is an extremely useful utility for flashing custom kernels, boot logos and recoveries. This binary has made it possible to easily flash all these items and is used almost everywhere behind the scenes (i.e. in custom recoveries, packaged into kernel /sbin, etc).
Description:
This Android App is a GUI interface for the linux binary, flash_image provided by google in AOSP for loading custom kernels and recovery images onto the phone.
This app allows the flashing of kernels and recovery images in normal android mode.
No recovery or adb needed!
HTC EVO support includes flashing of anykernel type .zip files, boot.img type zip files and recovery.img files!
Current Device Support:
Full Kernel, Logo and Recovery flashing: Samsung Moment, Transform, Intercept and Acclaim - the s3c6410 series of devices
Full Kernel (Anykernel and boot.img) Flashing and Recovery flashing: HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO, Nexus S/Nexus S 4G & LG Optimus
Full Kernel (zImage) Flashing: Samsung Epic
Full Recovery Flashing: HTC Shift (need testers for kernel flashing)
Future Support:
Looking for feedback regarding making the app more user friendly or simplier to use for the HTC EVO. Thanks!
Install Directions:
Install process is the same as any other .apk. Download to computer and adb push or mount sdcard on computer and copy over or download directly to the phone. Use any file manager, adb, connectbot/terminal emulator to install.
My preferred method, maybe a bit technical: adb install c:\downloads\FlashImageGUI.apk
Download Locations
Market (99 cents!): Flash Image GUI
Release versions (free from my personal hosting): Flash Image GUI

Any questions, comments, concerns, or issues, please post in this thread or send me an email! Thanks for all the help and support!
FAQ:
Q: Will this app support a marketplace to pick and chose kernels from?
A: No. Use Kernel Manager!

Wow, joey, that sounds pretty awesome!
So if I flash to a different kernel from the app will the phone reboot itself? I'm guessing it would have to because your phone would have to rebuild the Dalvik cache after the app wiped it to install the new kernel...
And if that's the case, is it a hot restart? I know if you do a hot reboot with 4G enabled sometimes it breaks the 4G.
Anyway just some questions, gonna download the app and give it a shot. Thanks for sharing! Hope you don't get flamed for posting in the wrong section, I think an app like this belongs in the dev section.
Do you have some decent error checking in this to prevent users from flashing something stupid? I know you can't prevent everything, and I'm looking forward to some "lols I flashed a radio to my boot image and now it won't work!"
Anyway, cool app. Kind of like Kernel Manager, but with some extra sauce on the side.

Great question. Originally I viewed loading boot animations as out of scope for tihs app as the boot animation is generally a single .zip file stored in /data/local or /system/media. Flash_image was designed by google to load images into specific partitions on the phone, i.e. boot (kernel), recovery, etc. Some phones varied in what was stored in the partitions but I don't think I've ever seen animations stored in a single partition requiring flash image to load.
In the sense of the term "flash" being used pretty liberally to "apply" or "load" something on the phone, I could easily add support to load boot animation.zip files onto the phone, but I think that would be out of scope for this app as the core linux binary, flash_image (app is named after and uses) doesn't support boot animation loading.
It is definitely a good idea and perhaps worth me putting together a small app to help manage boot animations? By manage I'm thinking, loading, backing up, etc?

Yea, the phone will definitely require a reboot after flashing a kernel with clear dalvik or cache checked and the app will prompt for reboot. Clearing dalvik/cache while android is running, in my experience, will require a reboot almost immediately and the app requires this with a large warning against waiting to reboot.
Post got moved pretty quickly to a diff board. I did think the app was more useful for developers to test their own kernels/recoveries (as that is what I use it for), but seems the moderator disagreed. Either way, I do appreciate the support!

Definitely have a lot of error checking in here. In fact, this app has way more alert dialog boxes than any app I've wrote before. I prompt and ask for confirmation at multiple points. Owning an EVO and developing for the last 11 months on it have given me great insight in how to customize the app for the HTC EVO. I don't think it is very easy to accidently flash the wrong .img w/o confirming at LEAST once the action you're taking!
If there are points in the workflow you think could use another warning or prompt, let me know and I can definitely add it in!
Thanks for the feedback!
This is a very nice tool. I know this will come in handy. Thanks
Nice ..... good work!!!!!!

Hope to maybe add support for the EVO Shift and the Nexus S 4G depending on how much time I have!
Thanks for all the support and I welcome feedback, positive or negative, as long as it can help me improve the app!

Honestly, your app should drastically reduce all the posting where people ask "how do I flash xxxx?" because now they can use a GUI to do the work for them!
Nice work!
Brilliant app!! This well save a lot of ware and tear on my vol and power buttons!
Damnit not cool, i tried to flash a kernel using this in cm7 and it wiped my entire phone lol, thank you nandroid!

not sure there is anyway the app could wipe your entire phone as there is no command in the app to do that .. also my test environment for the last month has been the htc evo with cm7 ... ive been flashing tiamat and toastcfh back and forth to test each new feature! if you could send across a logcat next time and tell me the exact steps you took, which kernel you selected (link if possible), where it was flashed from, which options you checked, that would help me look for bugs. thanks!
released new updated version 1.0.9. cleaned up some more of the code and improved some of the features! appreciate the feedback and support. will prob make some more improvements and release another update soon

[ROM] [ICS][UCALC4][EMBRYO-1.1][Updated 04/14/2012] CWM zip available

STANDARD DISCLAIMER You are installing this ROM at your own risk. I am not responsible if you brick or anything. This is my daily driver, it has given me excellent battery life (actually goes to deep sleep).
THIS IS AT&T Skyrocket ONLY. Since the Kernel is included in this ROM and is cooked for AT&T only.
ChangeLog:
04/14/2012: Embryo 1.1 - Update
* Added call recording. (removed, Add Call button)
* Added El Librator 15toggle blue theme. (thanks El Liberator, you can thank him here).
* removed couple of bloat items
* Incorporated all patches from 1.0 onwards.
- Blue Circle battery.
- Autocorrect dictionary pack added.
Updates:
08APR2012: Upon request, providing the Circle Battery Mod, as a separate CWM zip. Note: this goes on top of the Embryo-1.0 base.
Introduction:
This ROM is my daily driver. I have deodexed ONE file at a time with the only bootclasspath required for each APK, yes I am a little bit anal about these things. No Kitchen or random dump everything in the classpath and deodex.
This is completely debloated. Purged with care and testing. If you need any app missing let me know I will give you the APK.
This is a basically *my* ROM, please no ETA. I do this to customize android to my liking. This is NOT themed, it is as stock as you can get.
Features:
* Guranteed to be smooth as butter .
* 15 toggle mod from wanam lite painfully ported to our skyrocket. (thanks to lidroid and wanam).
* Tethering support. (yup, it works)
* Stock Kernel 3.0.8-perf with ramfs mods (adb root, insecure, boot animation, run-parts or init.d support, usb debugging enabled)
* host files (adblock)
* Debloated (painfully removed all bloat)
* deodexed and zipaligned with care.
* busybox
* SuperSU v0.87 from ChainFire
* bash
* build.prop tweaks
* Titanium Backup preinstalled.
* auto zipalign any new apps (via init.d)
* Updated to latest Google apps
* Circle Battery Mod as a separate CWM zip. Please see below. (NOT part of Embryo 1.0 base).
* can't remember..will add

Installation (For Update)
For updates please make sure, you are on Embryo-1.0 base.
* Place the update zip on SD Card.
* boot into CWM recovery
* Wipe Cache.
* Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache
* Choose zip from sdcard.
* select the update file and flash.
* please let it settle, as it would need to rebuild the cache.
Installation (For Full Wipe)
This is important, please follow the instructions carefully. Also, you need the UCALC4 modems, if you don't have it, let me know I will upload it, download link in the end.
Backup:
Make sure you back up your data. I typically use TiBu, to move from ROM to ROM. Just backup "user" apps do NOT attempt to restore system app or data.
Prep:
Make sure you copied the rom and if necessary the modem into your SD card (internal or external, as the touch recovery can show both).
Install Procedure:
Make an Nandroid backup, in case you want to revert.
Go into Clockword Recovery. I personally use this ClockworkMod Touch 5.5.0.4.
Wipe data/cache partition (complete the action by selecting the Yes row)
Go into Mounts and Storage -> Select Format /system (complete the action, by selecting Yes row)
Did you WIPE Data/Cache and Format System as detailed in Step 2), 3) and 4). Please do it.
Did you really do Step 2) 3) and 4)?? If not please do it!!
The reason I am emphasizing Step 2),3) and 4) is because, the update script will NOT do that for you. I have intentionally not incorporated into it, as I found the format command to be unreliable, in the recoveries I have encountered so far. But, in the touch recovery it works flawlessly when executed from the CWM Menu.
Now, select the ZIP you downloaded and go through the install.
Enjoy!! the super fast and smooth ROM.

FAQ
What bloatware has been removed?
Except for Samsung touchwiz and Keyboard, all AT&T bloatware, Samsung Bloatware (including wallpapers) have been purged . If you need any apk let me know I will create the CWM zip and post it.
When I do About Phone -> Software Update, nothing happens?
Yup, OTA update APK's have been removed. Since it appears the SR OTA updates require the standard recovery, which you will not have if you are installing custom ROM and if the ROM fingerprint has changed, you will need to ODIN back to Stock. So what's the point I say in having it around .
Is Tethering supported in this ROM?
Yup the WiFi Hotspot will work, just make sure don't enable the switch in the configuration screen. The USB tethering also should work, let me know. Yeah you will get the "Portable Wi-Fi not supported" message, but it is ok. Also, the device list will not show up too, since I have removed the TetheringManager apk.
As a side note, I have seen the HotSpot work with the 15toggle mod, without the mods .
Contacts and Dialer lag?
Well, this seems to be a common problem in the leaked ICS. I have switched to evDialer exDialer (if you have not, try it!) from the Market. Also, I need the damn Contacts tab in the Dialer, I don't know why this has been removed in ICS, sigh. I might try to take a stab at fixing it, but I need the contacts tab on the dialer, so interest is low .
Can I change the Buttons Order in the 15Mod Toggle Panel?
Sure, you can. Just use the included QuickPanelSettings App.
Thanks for all your effort in making this rom!!! Gonna give this a test run when available and report back later!

Can you list the bloatware you removed or provide screen shots? i know its stock i just want to know what im getting into before i start flashing
I added the screenshots. Bloatware removed all ATT bloatware, and all Samsung Bloatware, except TouchWiz and Keyboard. If you need anything let me know, I can give you the apks.

Damn it ha and last question I'm coming from nexxus mod with ucla 3 radio is it safe to flash over as long as I follow directions and do a super wipe or should I installed the leak first and then go from there

I would install it from the ICS leak, as you will be pristine. I will see if I have time later to post the UCALC4 radio, since I have to dd the partitions and they will be 100MB each (i.e. total 200MB), I would rather people use the ICS leak and then install the CWM (via ODIN, I can post one).
Thanks for ROM. Got link for radio?
I'm downloading this (first jump to ICS) because the OP sounds like a bad ass.

What Is It?
Aroma App Package Creator is an application for those who flash new rom's often and want an easy way to create a flashable zip to reinstall apps. This utilizes Aroma Installer for more customization, allowing you to choose which apps to be installed instead of installing all of them. I made this tool for myself after seeing strawmetal's Flashaholic Essential Packs and wanted a way to produce the same results without editing multiple config files for each "pack" I make. I hope everyone else will find it useful as well
How To Use: Click Steps For Screenshot
1) Download the aroma-app-package-creator.jnlp file and run by double clicking it
You must have Java 6 or higher for the application
You will have to accept a security warning. This is normal for all applications using Java Web Start
2) Click the + button under the Group Names list to create a new group
3) Add an app to a group by selecting the desired group, then click the + under the Apps list
5) Flash your zip like any other in recovery

Q&A
Q: How will updates be distributed?
A: Every time you run Aroma App Package Creator it checks the server for an update. If there is a new version it will be downloaded automatically.
Q: Everything seems to work, but when I reboot none of the apps have been installed. What's going on?
A: Try downloading a zip that utilizes Aroma Installer for your device (such as a rom or theme) and pull the update-binary-installer from it and put it into the zip created with the Aroma App Package Creator.
Q: The above didn't work...Now What?
A: Sign the zip and try again. You can find information on how to do so on google, or use this application: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/tool-to-auto-sign-multiple-apks-and-zips/
Please post any bugs/errors so they can be fixed
I will test, today.
RB v2.3 selfmodded - 100% Supercharged!
testing tomorrow!thanks!
looks good ..i will test it now
This is sick. I love it, works great on gs3.
After selecting the apps .the apps dont install
simply it says installing Apps but none of the apps get installed.
Help me out
Nice tool... :good:
Some feature suggestion:
Select Theme
Checkbox to delete dalvic + cache (not all app require this)
Okay, so this is giving me a flashable zip that installs apps at /data/app. What about /system?
And files other than apk files will be awesome.
Thanks for your good work.
This looks very cool
Will it work on a rooted phone with stock recovery (In my case SGS2) or just CWM?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gklDSVmGkMc
Crappy resolution, but here's how it works on an S3
For the S3 you need to use the "Yes/alternate" method for the touch calibration... also the colors are totally off but it's still readable and usable. Just has a blue tint to it lol.
Or just use my values:
Code:
119490.00, 2030.00, -619140.00, -840.00, 116060.00, 228210.00, 117939.75, 20
This is on the Rogers I747M S3. (Should be the same for AT&T).
Just wondering... The calibration makes the zip flashable only for the model being calibrated, right?

That's right. It's so the touch screen coordinates line up etc.
I kinda wish there was an option for text based only where it would just install all the APKs that you put in the zip. I don't need the fancy UI, I just want to flash the zip, have them installed and done.

Much Respect
PS : for guys having trouble with Calibration ,you can use Volume up\down and Select in CWR and Aroma instead of touch ,Works for me ,Xperia Mini Pro SK17i
