[DEV Q] Small (high resolution) Icons - HTC Sensation

Hi all when the development goes under way, is it possible to use smaller hi resolution icons on the sense screen? If you go into the dock mode it uses smaller, nicer looking icons. Would be nice to have this on the main sense menus.

I don't understand... What did you develop? I see the word "development" in your question, but nothing that you've developed.

What he means is like the guys @ HD2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652
They use 167dpi for the screen so you can have much more icons next to each other. Everything gets smaller, so you have more space on the screen. I hope they make that available when my sensation gets unlocked

Just use adw launcher and increase desktop column/row count.

That's not the same. Icons don't get smaller this way and the UI stays big. With the dpi mod, everything changes.

I use the combo of Multicon and Folder Organizer apps. Folder Organier is a paid app which is free on Amazon appstore for today. It makes folder and widget like the iPhone folders. While Multicom squeezes multiple icons into defined widget space.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App

If I want to change the size of icons I usually resort to using LCD density changer and launcher pro, only problem is it changes the density of everything.

the iphone had only one feature that our phone doesn't have.I've seen screen shots if other phones with the feature and am wondering if we can get it....

You can use shootme for screen shots and some ROMs like MIUI have it built in. And for the 4 icons that don't move alternative launchers like ADW and Launcher pro etc. have that and it wont movie when you move screen and you can change it to your needs

Miui is a rom that looks just like the iphone. it has the 4 icon dock. You can hold and drag the icons to change them up. Miui is a look alike of the ios.

Look at adw ex it has a second dockbar that can be used on any screen and is configurable.
thanks for the two replies...
i found them to be buggy and/or insufficient because i lost all the htc sense features. or maybe coredroid is that good of rom to make me not want to lose what i currently have.
I flashed a mod yesterday that gave me a transparent rosie and also keeps the dock at the bottom on all the home screens. Unfortunately it isn't customizable but it is a nice little add on.

[Q] Background Sense 3.0

I use Flikie HD Wallpapers, it's a very nice program for HD backgrounds and almost all background have the function to scroll to the left or right.
Now i know this is not possible in Sense 3.0 because the sliding never stops. So every background with that slide function don't know when to stop the picture so it just shows the middle.
Is it possible to change this, with example the Fre3vo temp-root ? Or do we need to wait at a ROM builder or Fre3dom ?
Thx!

Nobody knows anything about it ?
Nope, you can't do that. Only possible with another launcher.
The Sensation has an HTC Live Wallpaper called "Streak" that has somekind of infinite movement (rotation) when going from screen to screen. I geuss someone should find a way to make something similar!
Try a different launcher. I am using GoLauncher Ex and it works quite well. I think it looks better than the Sense launcher as well.

Will the phone become slower when you use GoLauncher, i want to use it only i think it is a bit double, the heavy Sense 3.0 and the GoLauncher. I am definitily waiting for the perm root so that our great cookers can make a stripped ROM without Sense 3.0 I think were almost there!

Swyped from my HTC Sensation
Definitely try any other launcher. You won't be disappointed at all. I personally flip around between Launcher PRO Plus, Go Launcher, and Launcher7.
For the time being at least, anything other than Sense that you use will allow your Sen4G to pep up quite a bit. But who knows what'll happen when we get a new FOTA to fix some of our standing issues.

I think we misunderstood (maybe just me?) your original statement that any other launcher "kills sense" in that, at least for me, I thought you meant any other launcher would bring Sense to its knees......meaning Sense was speedier than all the other launchers.
Turns out you were saying what we were albeit from a completely different direction.
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding yet again.....it has in fact been a long day for me.

Meh.
App Drawer is so laggy(cool transition effects though, love the sphere)
Cannot remove icon label backgrounds
Icons are small(well compared to iOS)
Set the wallpaper as a solid black color, lower the crap out of your dpi and delete all your widgets?
Or is that not what you meant?
There is a QQLauncher in the General Android Development Forum that's trying to imitate MIUI's Launchers behavior.
MIUI is as Close as you can get to iPhone (imo).
Then there's a 'few' icon packs that try imitating iPhone's ICONs aswell.

Espier Launcher will give you an iphone feel. Grab it before they get sued off the planet.
wow, that launcher is a pretty damn good attempt. Needs a little bit of work but would work well for someone looking for a springboard launcher

[Q] Fitting more icons on home screen

This is probably a newb question, but I wasn't able to find it through searching: Is there a way to fit more icons on the screen in Touchwiz (like maybe a 5x5 layout w/ 5 apps in the dock like the Galaxy Note)? Or would I need to use a new launcher?
I know Go Launcher has this feature, but it didn't resize the icons/widgets. So some of the icons ended up overlapping each other on the screen. I don't mind Touchwiz. Just thought I'd take advantage of the extra real estate of the screen.

Not by default, but you can tell it to resize when moving the phone from portrait to landscape.
Just click on settings/preferences/screen settings/auto-fit items.
I've found I actually prefer 4x4 though. It works better with some of my larger widgets. And makes my full-page sized Calendar easier to read.

wallpaper ?

can somebody explain this wallpaper deal on the 1X, i find a cool one that according to specs has the correct size. save it to the phone --then i either add it as wallpaper via the Gallery or Personalize and it shows me the wallpaper, with a green square on it that i can slightly enlarge but still it only uses about a third of the entire image, on top of that.. quite a few look like crap (to put it blunt), very pixelated.. what am i missing here.
(related, yesterday i found how to have a different wallpaper on the lock screen but can;t find the setting anymore...)
Use quickpic from the market.

The "green square" just shows where the home screen will be. Sense has scrolling wallpaper, so you will still see the area to the left and right of the green square as you scroll left and right n sense.

understood, but it also cuts of the top and bottom while i used the right resolution which then makes (if it has something on the image...) pixelated, someone said it may just be Sense who causes that. i find it odd, i download the exact size and have to cut pieces.

Guys, don't be so quick to jump on the op. Its pretty clear what he's trying to say. I know because I experienced it. I'm gonna take a guess and say ur using stock ROM? I had the same problem when I was in stock ROM, he green square only stretches so far, it does not encompass the entire image, therefore the image it sets as your wallpaper becomes stretched and therefore pixelated. I also tried to find ways around this op but I couldn't find any, well that is until I flashed another ROM. I can't quite remember I it worked when I ran cleanrom, but any aosp ROM will work like aokp and cm9/10. With these ROMs the green square stretches out to encompass the full image therefore giving you the right resolution for ur home screen. Other than that I know of no way around the problem. Flash an aosp ROM op, you will thank me for it later

The green box isn't supposed to stretch across the whole image. The green box represent one Sense tab, ie the homescreen. The area ot the left and right of the green box is still part of the wallpaper, when you scroll left and right through the Sense tabs.
I don't see the problem here?

i was using the clock lock-screen, to be able to use a different wallpaper on the lock-screen you must choose "wallpaper" instead of the clock lock screen.. can't have both i guess (#unrooted)
Myself I find pics in range of 1280x1440, that gives nice clear picture viewable over several scrolling screens.
Of course, Ymmv.
