HTC Sense and HTC Widgets !!!!!!!!!!!! - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I had an old HTC Droid Eris lying around so I used root explorer and transferee all HTC sense and HTC widgets over to my SD card that I am using on my SGS4G. When I finished and opened up astro file manager and tried to download the files it would say Application not installed. Is this because of the screen resolution difference or because of the different hardware? Any help to get this project working would be fantastic!

i mean...they are COMPLETELY different phones. different manufacturers and isnt the eris running on 1.6? it would have been great if it worked...but what were the chances? lol. this topic has been discussed, though. from what i saw, it cant be done by just taking them and replacing what we have. you can get third party apps, though. like beautiful widgets for the clock

2.2 froyo. But yea, I just thought it was worth a go. I have beautiful widgets but the original would kick
ass. Hahah thanks bro

For sure. no harm in trying!

Why not just use Launcher Pro Plus widgets? Much better than the Sense one as it doesn't have to refresh and reload every time.

It's both the things underlined.
And I'd personally love to have Sense running on my phone, but porting it is both practically impossible (according to many many developers), and not worth the time.
Even hardware-wise, porting a Sense ROM probably wouldn't be possible because of the sheer size of it (from what I know).

[Q] New Sense UI?

So I've been seein the EVO 3D, and I really like its new sense ui. You can change the lockscreen with weather and when you slide through the screens there is a new carasel look and more. I am just wondering two things. 1. Is there any way to get that Sense ported over to our Inspire's? 2. If we can't, do you think that the Inspire will ever get that update?

This update is in fact coming to devices with Sense. It's going to the HTC Evo-3D first though. It's kind of to showcase it. Hit Google. There are articles everywhere for it.

I actually prefer it to vanilla Android. I ran cm for a day and flashed design gears Rom back over it. I have great battery life so far, so it really doesn't bother me. I feel almost "privileged" to have it since I own an HTC device.
You really can't beat the dialer, messaging app and keyboard. I know there are skins to out on other keyboards but I can't get the same performance as I can the built in HTC keyboard.
Plus I'm a huge sucker for the clock....

I love sense as well, but mainly I was refering to it hogging ram and cpu. I am sure there are ways they can optimize it better.
After seeing your screen shot in the other thread I'm flashing a gb Rom back. Killer battery life governs.

HTC music

So I was trying to change the HTC music to the sense 2.0 version and after switching it just force closed every time I opened it. So when I attempted to switch back to the original it also did not work! So if someone could link me to one the will work it would be extremely helpful!! I'm running skyraider 4.0

i'd say you have to restore a nandroid i tried doing soemthing similar replacing the htc_ime and it wouldn;t install the original back so i would just restore a nandroid.
Well isn't it possible just to put it in a .zip and reinstall it? Because I've seen others with the HTC music and the widget worked but the app force closed when I opened it

I would replace the htc music apk, with another. I used the one from the nothing special rom. You can replace it with a file explorer with root access (be sure to change permissions), a zip if you know how or through adb.

I've already tried replacing through root explorer multiple times and the app just doesn't show up at all after that and I know nothing about adb. So I'm honestly really stuck at this point

same thing happened to me. I had to restore a Nan backup. If you are using SR4.0 I recommend trying the Google 3.0 leaked player. Its free, looks way better, plays perfect, the only thing missing from it, compared to stock, is the album art on the lock screen. It does not have lock screen controls BUT since you are using SR4.0 you can add the lock screen option in 4.0 to work with this player. I havent used stock for over a month, and wont go back until SR4.1 with the updated music player included.
You can find the app in the Android Development and Hacking forum here on XDA or just google search it.
But I would love to know why we can't run 2.0!!!! Been trying to get it for a while now.

You can't run sense 2.0 music widget because it is dependent of a sense 2.0 framework which sr4 doesn't have.

I was talking about the original widget. But there's no way to get the 2.0 player running is there?

nope not unless ihttpf or some other dev ports it over it appears though that ihttpf already has a working z camera for sr4.
Can you put a link because I currently am using my phone and have no access to a computer until I move in to my new apartment next week and I'm in high school still so I've been busy with other work plus my jobs I haven't really had time to do much

Droid x htc sence

Is there a sence theme for the droid x? Like that has the dialer and the music player and the flip clock and everything?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
i am going to have to agree with this.
Do you mean like HTC SENSE?? The DROIDX doesn't have "sense" it has the Motorola blur overlay. Someone would have to build a theme for the X that made it look like HTC SENSE
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Well we know its not possible to build a ROM for it because of its locked bootloader, and there is a theme, it's just really not very good....If you want to make ur phone look like HTC Sense then do the following...
-Get an old version of fancy widget off 4shared.com
-Download HeLauncher and use the HTC Sense Homescreen
-For Lockscreen, download Lockbot or WidgetLocker and use HTC Sense Lock
-For Wallpapers I'm sure you can get on the market.

You can actually build ROMs for it no problem (look at CM7 now), the problem would be that HTC obviously doesn't release the source code for Sense, etc. So there's no possible way of going that route. A long time ago I remember seeing a pretty good Sense theme for Droid X, but I'm not sure if it's still being maintained anymore. I'll see if I can find a link
Actually, I do believe that the Sense User Interface is open-source. So all it would take is a good developer to build and port Sense for the Droid X.

miui has a sense 3.0 lockscreen
i highly doubt sense will ever work on a motorola device.
fyi, it never truly worked on the og droid either. no mms, no 3g, sdcard errors, constant reboots, and other errors.
but it was a good attempt.
@smyers1012 thanx for the info. I already had widgetlocker but then I dl lockbot. N I prefer it way better! Thanx

Flash HTC camera over Stock Gingerbread camera?

So, got this phone, upgraded to gingerbread. Hate the stock camera when you get used to the camera apk on the Sensation...anyway to put that apk on the G2x through a file manager or flashing? Any answer is helpful other than search or why would you do that? answers. I would use search, but when I do I get to windows phones... pointless.
If you want the apk from the sensation, I can rip it and post it or something
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Yea I wish they could do that too but apparently they (devs) haven't found a way to port anything from HTC to reg. Android. Its something about the way the apps are written or coded....if they could do that we could've had HTC sense running on this v12 powered phone.
Off topic: I think this phone can handle HTC sense pretty good if it to run it.

hah, sense 2.1. The sensation barely handles sense 3.0
Well damn...I love the click to focus on the sensation (sense 3.0 camera apk?) and especially the focus in video recording!

i didnt use it but saw a few videos it seemed more like a app to show to others than use daily
I tried the Launcher, at first it looks good, it is customizable but I just went back to sense, because it makes more ... sense
PS. the app is far to overpriced.
yeah i tried it and i agree with kartkk. It's just not practical. You can't use it daily. After about 5 minutes of using it, i realised i can't do anything apart from scroll through the screens in 3d and look at the animations. I will admit i was really fond of the design but there's just too many flaws in it.
Yeah, it isn't for daily use
I've customized it and I do nothing with it
U can try it at the following link:

Try launcher pro or something like that instead, much more practical and i prefer that instead of sense. I personally think that spb is crap and the price is like a joke
I am using SBP 3D shell, but its not worth for the money. but if you so interested you try using cracked version. also it eats up around 60MB memory all the time.
looks nice at first, but gets annoying after a little time.. i went back to golauncher before i flashed a custom rom. since then i don't use an exta launcher.
Try GoLauncher, it's free and very stable

I guess its not really worth the purchase.more something like a gadget to play around with.some things don't need to be modded in my opinion.fancy is ok if it is useful as well, but just fancy does not make much sense to me.
