Battery life suddenly sucks on infused 1.5 - Samsung Infuse 4G

So until about a week ago I had jusy been using the infused rom, and my phone would be unplugged at 6am, and by 2pm still have about 97 percent battery life. I was using setcpu to underclock to 800mhz, and nothing more.
A few days agoil I tried installing go launcher and launcher pro to check em out, and battery life was absolute crap so I uninstalled them, however my battery life is still terrible. Now I have to charge it to 100% every 6 or so hours, even though I reverted back to infused. Can anyone tell me if theres an obvious solution, or help me out? Would a wipe work?

Charge the phone to full (wait for it to say "full battery" in status bar)
Unplug the charger
Turn off the phone
plug the charger back in
wait until the battery icon says 100%
turn the phone back on
charge to full again (the notification will say battery full)
Reboot into clock work mod recovery
navigate to advanced -> wipe battery stats
reboot phone

Also, there's an app for it called battery calibrator I used and it seems good.

there's also the possibility the DRM service for the media hub is bugging out (happened to mine earlier)
there was a thread about it a week days ago.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161949
Note: Some people were reporting issues where getting rid of these services were causing problems with the stock music player and/or other things. read through the post.
I personally haven't had those issues after freezing those two apks with titanium backup (I'm on Infused 1.5.0 and the drm apks are in it for whatever reason)

Personally I didn't disable any of these DRM services. I disabled the media hub though cos I don't use it. I disabled the media scanner too, and replaced Gallery app with QuickPic app.

Dont get rid of the drm. I did and my notifications were not working until i reboot, but happens again after a while..set it back to how it was, and everything was fine
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App

just kill the drm service. settings > applications > running services. dont actually delete the apks. youll start having some things crash on you. hopefully its not something we need after gingerbread.

Try a different kernal ... recommend infusion 1.8 and then UnderVolt the Ghz

So...i realize now I uninstalled the drm services, that must be why my clock and video player keep crashing and possibly affecting battery. I dont think I backed them up, does anyone know where I can find copies of the apks?

You should be able to get them from the 1.5.0 ROM zip under /system/apps.

Sg4g tripping

So i installed the leaked gm a few weeks ago but removed it when i learned of the bootloader issue and overheating issues. Now i have Bionix w/3.3uv bali. Now phone has either been fc'ing or shuts off completely or reboots. Any ideas? I may revert back to kd1 by whitehawx and see if same problem rxists. Personally i think texas heat may be culprit my battery has been 106F and greater. Appreciate any ideas. TIA

Bali is only currently out with version 3.2, must've been a posting mistake.
Anyway, do a full factory restore and see if that works.
If not, ODIN back to KD1.
If you don't want to lose your Apps or Data (contacts, bookmarks, etc) use TitaniumBackup.
You can also ODIN Gingerbread KF2, which has proven to be very stable (little to no bugs) for me and many other users.
Finally, did you ever calibrate your battery when switching FW versions? It sometimes helps.
My bad 3.2bali uv. Told yall i was half asleep typing this. Lol. I really think my battery is culprit. But i did factory reset and went to kd1 deodex then back to black ice. Same issue. Uninstalled now im tryg trigger. And i thk if i do 3.2uv again i will disable lagfix. But my phone reboots every 5mins or while even downloading roms when on black ice & 3.2. Aarrgghhh. So we shall see. So far on trigger for 2 hours and no reboots. Maybe gm bootloaders effed up my compatibility with bali 3.2uv? Thanks guys. Or maybe tegrak is culprit?

Pandora appears to be your #1 wakelocker. eBay mobile seems to be pretty bad too.
NetworkLocation wakelocking can be eliminated by unchecking all of the location features in Settings except for when you want network location/GPS.

I assume you were listening to Pandora during that time, in which case, that wakelock is normal. Playing music from your device will also hold a wakelock when the screen is off. If you weren't listening to Pandora at all, then something is wrong.
Whoa. Why the heck is eBay holding that wakelock . Check your notification settings and if it's still holding it, clear its data and try again. Otherwise, I'd uninstall it. I always use the browser to access eBay anyway.

No. In the device settings, turn GPS off until you need it and leave network location checked/enabled. Go into Fancy Widget under weather settings and UNcheck/disable GPS location (GPS is unnecessary for weather updates), verify that network location is checked. Then, I would recommend changing your refresh settings (to update less frequently). I'd bet you have it set to update more frequently than an hour. I also use Fancy Widget and mine is set to 3 hours. This should take care of your network location wakelock (unless another app is also updating with network location).
BTW if Wifi is on but not connected, in Froyo it seems to scan way too often regardless of build.prop setting. Netloc should wakelock less if wifi is off.

I have very few widgets, one that actually accesses anything, and don't do much but surf the net or the forums in the morning. I would unplug it at 6:30 and go to work. By about 8 or so I would already be at 90% or less. That was me hardly using it. Well I hope I got my answer. Apparently Beautiful Widgets was KILLING me on the wakelocks! I wish I took a picture of it before I uninstalled it but jesus it was bad! Thanks for the good info I'm gonna keep an eye on it and see how it does.

No, slow charge is a few other things. ALL android phones wakelock when charging.
The phone shouldn't count CPU/screen/etc usage against charge current at all but it does. It seems to do it less so on GB. Still does it, but the spikes seem lower even if I crank stability test. Gonna be a while before I can test a navigation run.
Seems like on GB, difference between screen off and running stability test with screen on is about 200 mA. Haven't tested in that much detail on froyo. Another way of putting that - putting the screen on and cranking CPU will reduce charge rate by at least 1/3 of the 600 mA charge limit.

SDM.apk removal better battery life

I am running tweakstock1.4 rom with PBJ kernal. I recently froze the system apk SDM.apk idea being it is blocked by the rom to keep it from down loading OTA updates but it is eating up the battery trying to or looking for the OTA. I went one step further and uninstalled the SDM.apk all together. So far so good ill need a little more time to see if it helps with battery life. But if anyone wants to try it I haven't had any fcs lag or any problems since removing it try at your own risk but I think the coast is clear.
Thanks for the update, please keep us posted.

Anyway, freezing did the trick for me. Confirmed.
From a thread in the tweakstock rom post....at the very least it may be one more unneeded apk
I, too, froze it on nismo's advice. I've noticed no bad effects, and the plus is that I burned a hell of a lot less battery while on airplane mode.

sdm.apk is considered as bloat ware. If you're in any doublt, just use root explore and move the sdm.apk from /system/app to any location on your sdcard as a backup. This way for sure it's not in use. I used betterbatterystats to verify it after froze the app and I don't see it any more.

I'm sure it uses another mechanism to make things invisible to the OS. It might just change the permissions. Either way, freezing has always worked for me.

He's a noob, what do you expect?haha just kidding. When titanium froze an app, that app is DEAD unless SDM 1.0 is not sdm.apk. But if it is it's dead. I haven't seen sdm since I froze SDM1.0. Judging just by battery life is not the right way, because battery life can be impacted by other process too, not just SDM. He must use tools like betterbatterystats or something to see the inner process. That's my IMO.
I was about to flash the Eclipse rom and thought I would remove the apk all together just to see if there were any repercussions. If it fouled things up no problem I was going to flash Eclipse anyway. I hadn't read about anybody removing it so I wanted to post my experience for the benefit of others. Apologies for my poor wording of what I was doing I didn't mean to convey that the apk was still sucking battery after it was frozen. Just wanted to say I hadn't had any problems after removing it.
Posted this in another thread but it's more relevant here:

Not sure I would call it "bloat ware". It's a tech support / CS service. It's bloat when it's not needed, great when it is needed.

Right, but wouldn't you need to ODIN stock EP4D before getting any tech support / CS anyway? If that's the case, no need for SDM.

There is a rogue app in your drawer. download watchlist app, it will keep track on other apps which are hogging your system.
Battery calibration won't and doesn't do anything useful... its more then likely an app or something running constantly. What's your screen on times? Post a screenshot of your battery usage.

Not to say anyone wont do it, but that's a hard thing to do, 700 underclock Most Oc of to 1.4 lol.
Funny though at 700 it probably runs just as fast as default 1ghz speed.

As far as these phone have come battery are a step behind, more on dual core phones.Although if battery is such a big deal and you absolutely need it just buy extra battery and chargeable adapter, problem solved

Ya I agree, the phone at 600ish on stock kernel runs just fine for texting and calls and checking Facebook... usually what I run when I'm out at bars with my friends cause it usually ends up being a weekend without my charger, I've over clocked the phone maybe twice, no point in my eyes lol.

[MOD, ICS] Incredible battery life for ICS ROMs

Hi Guys
Well, after witnessing incredible battery life on latest HebMIUI (mostly taken from Pimp My ROM and Adrenaline Injector), I decided to make a flashable for the rest of the ICS ROMs we have here.
I must say I also use the LB6 modem which is known to give good battery life, so you are advised to install it too, but, it's your call.
I also add here AutomateIt app, which lets you decide what the device will do for certain events (open/close wifi/3G/4G/screen/charge etc.) which you can utilize to save battery life.

I take no responsibility for any damage claimed.
Tested on MIUI, AOKP.
Make a nandroid backup and flash it via CWM/TWRP.
Let it soak in for 1-2 days and let me know what you think.
Does this include the build.prop changes of hebmiui?
Yes. ROM name was set to Batt_MOD instead.
Installed on Remics without any issues. Will report back on the battery life in a few days.

Installed on aokp, on boot I get a process is not responding. After that it is fine and so far great battery usage.
i'll try it later.
Currently (CM9 latest rel), Sitting on a desk with full 4G on a 2300 mAh battery, I get about 2-3 days of usage. Plus a few calls and texts.
At school in and out of e, 4g, and deadzone, I get down to ~65%. Then I need to reboot to stabilize or else it will continue to drain at the rate and I'll be dead by the end of the day.
LB6 did nothing for my battery life but I was getting incredibly slow data, so I reverted to KJ4.
I am thinking of padding KC1 and trying it.

Yeah, I also experienced a freezing boot right after flashing on AOKP, but it happens only once & then everything is fine on next reboots.

Has anyone figured out how to not make the phones battery drain overnight? For me if I leave it unplugged overnight it goes down around 20-30%. I've heard that you can use the app setcpu to underclock the phone when the screen is off. Has anyone ever tried this with our phone?

Hi Pisher
AutomateIt is exactly for this cause. You can set it to close wifi when screen is off on a specific late hour and open when morning comes for example...
Just saw this one as well -

Your phone should be *sleeping* most of the time when you're not using it. CPU speed is irrelevant when sleeping. BBS is the best tool for figuring out why it isn't sleeping.

Wait till you get another phone that runs a kernel that doesn't support it. Lol. I still endorse system tuner. Way more bang for the buck.

hm, After I flashed this, whenever I tap on the "(i)" in the news and weather app that
comes with CM9 to see the temperatures for the day, it gives me a message that the
app stopped working and closes..
It might not have to do with this battery mod, but I am trying a process of elimination to pinpoint the culprit..
Would you confirm please if the News & Weather app works after you tap "(i)" in the top right corner?
Thanks..
Edit: I forgot to mention that I tried fixing permission, clearing cache & dalvik cache, but same results..
Hi
the only relevance to this app could be from the system\etc\init.d\S70darky_zipalign script.
Try with and without it and see if it helps.
