I haven't been able to use google voice to make calls, however, Groove IP will allow you to make calls through your google voice number on your transformer... so, you are "using" google voice, but through a third party software.

+1. It works very well, but uses polling instead of push. Requires Dropbox. Oh well.
SynchSMS works quite well. FYI: the developer is currently beta testing push so it may still work for you. Other options are web based, www.textem.net comes to mind but there are others as well.

MySMS is a pretty handy app which i use regularly on my tab, pc and phone.
The UI doesn't seem to be as fluid on the tab as it does on the pc and phone though (even with hardware acceleration turned on in MySMS settings).

I should have explained a little further.
I use my Google Voice number to txt from a PC or my Tab 8.9 and do not use GV on my cell. I haven't linked the two numbers yet.
Due to a current medical condition I can't talk, thus the various work arounds for emailing & texting.

Well since in many countries it's illegal to spoof sender number I would say that any app that can do that is potentially a way to get your criminal record tainted. And know of at least two providers that do not deliver from spoofed sender numbers.

That is your providers SMSC you use and that is not at spoof. But if I send a message via my SMSC with your number as a sender that it's spoofing and illegal here. I can do that since I have my own SMSC and my contract clearly states that that it's grounds for termination and most likely a report to the authorities.

Unless you are referring to a popup during setup that informs you that automated configuration of the voice mail is not sported - I have no clue what you are talking about. The voice mail setup popup can be skipped and then Google Voice provides instructions what to dial to manually forward voice mail from Verizon to Google Voice - always worked for me. For years.
