If your having problems...try this!!! - HTC Sensation

I have owned the sensation for 3 weeks and have had random problems that most have reported. Screen responsiveness, occassional connection problems, lag, unable to spin the carousel, and other little issues. I exchanged my first Sensation and now having the same issues with this one.
I was doing some thinking and after reading a zillion forums decided to try something. I downloaded the stock rom (ruu file) and reinstalled the rom file. I did not enter my google info during set-up. I went into privacy settings and unchecked back-up and restore options. I then entered my google account only.
So far my phone is running MUCH BETTER and VERY responsive. I can carousel EASILY!!!! It's like a new phone. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!
I have not added any apps OR any other type of social networking stuff. And I also shut-off that Tmobile contact sync.
Might be worth a shot for some of you.....
I will update this thread and let all of you know how its working.....

I told people about this when I first git the phone but everyone was like....."how would that effect anything". It does because I've done this on 4 different Sensations and all of them ran slower after it loaded all of my settings automatically. On each of them, I disabled the restore settings feature and imputed my Google info after disabling this and every phone was more responsive. I don't understand why but I'm glad someone else noticed it.

I think that most of the problems that people are reporting with the Sensation are software problems. It seems as the phones get faster they also get much more complicated and in my opinion, the manufactures are pushing out phones before the software has been fully tested and evaluated IN THE REAL WORLD!!!
They seem to lose sight that quality is MORE important then a deadline. If you can't do it right...don't do it!!!!
But instead they hype us up with slick marketing and make us go crazy buying their phones that are not ready to be released. Then we exchange/return until the buyers remorse period has passed and then we are stuck with a device that does not live up to the nearly $600 that we paid. Yes WE ALL PAY FOR IT.....if you think that you paid $148 for your Sensation,,,, please look at your MONTHLY bill.
It's not just HTC or Tmobile. It's Apple, MS, LG, ATT, Verizon, etc.....
Im very confident that the Sensation will eventually work as designed and marketed....I just hate that I'm a sucker!!!! I'm an early adopter and this is the price I pay because I have no patience!!!
Now that I ranted...try the rom reinstall so far my phone works flawlessly. As I have said before...its like I have a new phone....the Sensation 2....

Interesting.
I didn't think about turning those off.
Tried it...seems to improve things a bit.
Good thing you didn't title your thread..."I Think I *May* Have Discovered Something".

I've re-installed with the ruu multiple times and it didnt fix anything, no improvement. I've had 4 sensations, first 3 had the touchscreen issue, the 4th i'm only 2 days in and it hasn't messed up yet, its about time though. There are a hundred different things people have done to temporarily fix their problems, most aren't reproducible. Thats what is so strange about this phone. I've had the touchscreen become responsive like new a few times, just like others, and we are always trying to figure out what we did to make it work. I think its a coincidence when it starts working, thats why there are sooo many different posted solutions.. (only talking about touchscreen issues here)

hmmmm.....How did you re-install? via PC or from SD card?

Hmmm.... Why get a smartphone then?
Hope it works for you mate, but I can bet that touch screen issue will be back.

Im trying to see if any of the problems would return while the phone was completely stock. I kept it app free for 24 hours and it has worked great...no problems.
I just added a bunch of apps late last night and so far it has continued to run great. I will keep testing and adding more until I get back to the way I normally use my phone.
So far...i can spin the carousel very easily, screen is still responsive, no connection issues as of yet, and my battery has lasted over 24 hours and it still has over 50% of its charge!!
No social networking yet...I usually have Facebook, Twitter, and recently google+. I'm saving those for last since I suspect those might be some of the problem.
I did add all of my email accounts and my exchange account. So far it's still great!

When you say reinstall do you mean do a factory reset?

I downloaded the stock Rom and flashed via my pc. Took about 5 or 10th minutes. So far it has worked for me. It's been 48 hours and I have not had a return of any of the problems I had before.

Yes, i used this RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.29.531.2_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_193714_signed from my computer. I've also done factory reset from recovery as well as from Settings, SD & Phone storage--Factor data reset. All appear to look like the exact same state as when new, just unboxed. I would think that if it was a software issue that one of those methods would fix it everytime, since it worked wonderfully when new in that same configuration.
But when you look at it another way ..If it was Hardware, why wouldnt it do it as soon as you turn it on, brand new? Why does it take a few days? So far this 4th phone has ran longer than the others, no problems yet. It's loaded with tons of software and no bloat removal and its still the fastest phone ive ever used. Damn i hope it stays that way...

This is my last attempt to fix these issues. All three phones, my two and my wifes sensation, all have the death grip issue. And that alone is a very big design flaw. I can kill WiFi with just place my finger along the back top edge of the phone. It really becomes a problem watching videos. As soon as hold the phone on the WiFi antenna side, WiFi drops.
Thinking of returning and getting the mytouch 4g slide. Basically same specs just smaller screen.

Three Times the Charm with Nexus S?

Hello everyone:
I don't set my expectations too high. I know that this is a new phone, and it is not without it's bugs, but it is an awesome phone and from reading others who were having issues, I wanted to get a Nexus S working right for me!
I purchased my first Nexus S at a local Best Buy.
Everything about the phone was fine, the battery life seemed good, it ran quickly, did not notice any lag or any other major problems. However, I did begin to notice the back-button being unresponsive, as many others have stated experiencing. From reading threads on XDA, the jury is still out on whether this is a software or hardware issue, but that some people were able to get a phone without the issue by returning it for a replacement.
So I did...
I exchanged for my second Nexus S at a local Best Buy.
This one was kind of odd. Took a little while the for the 'important system updates' notice to come up, so I had already synced with my gmail and had also manually updated google maps and a few other apps.
When I finally did install the system update and the phone booted, I got a systemcore process FC error off the bat. Not good news. Later on, all seemed well, but I noticed a lot of lag with using the GB keyboard (unresponsive at times), and also having difficulty with the end-call button to end a call in progress (again, unresponsive so I had to press it a bunch of times before it would respond). Also, the battery life did not seem to be nearly as good as the first Nexus S.
So... I turned it back to Best Buy, but they did not have another replacement. So I turned it in for a refund.
I called Best Buy toll-free number, told them about the trouble that I was having, and they waived the overnight shipping fee, took my order for a new Nexus S, and I got it via UPS the next day (just at the 24 hour mark)
With this phone, I booted the phone and chose skip to login/create a gmail account. Phone loaded up completely, and I was just signing into my gmail account when I got the 'important system updates' message.
I updated immediately. Everything went smoothly.
I have not noticed any problems so far. The phone runs smoothly. It had no FC upon first boot after the system update. The back button works as it should. I don't notice any lag with the keyboard. I pulled up engadget.com full site and did not notice any lag out of the norm, apart from it being slow to load as I'm working with the crappy Edge network here (who cares if there are 4G phones out when my area doesn't even have 3G yet and that is where I am mostly). I have also tested the ringtones. I moved some music to my SD Card. I downloaded/installed Ringdroid. I created a ringtone. I set the ringtone. I have rebooted my phone three times and my ringtone still works. I mounted and unmounted my SD card (even moved some files to it), and I still have my ringtone.
So, what was it? Was it three times the charm? Was it there was a bad batch at the local Best Buy? Was it that because of the volume of Best Buy over phone and online sales, you'll get a newer and better Nexus S going through that route? Was it because I installed the system update before doing anything else, including syncing my gmail? I'm not sure...
But I do know that I love this phone, and *knock on wood* it continues to work the way that it should, I'll be happy with it for a long time to come.
My advice for those who are experiencing the issues that I had with my first two Nexus S to try try again. I know it's disappointing that a customer would have to do that in the first place as it is time consuming and stressful, but in the end, there might be a happy ending with you and your Nexus S.
Glad everything is working out for ya. Luckily my first nexus s has been great from day one.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
I have my second phone and it feels like the screen is less sensitive as on my first one. Unfortunately I cannot say if this is a problem with 2.3.1 because my first phone never got the 2.3.1 update and got stuck with 2.3. I have the feeling that 2.3 was much faster and less laggy than 2.3.1. I probably will return the phone again to see if this is a phone problem or if this was introduced with 2.3.1.

This is pathethic - new issues with V21E that didn't exist in Froyo!

I upgraded using the LG tool and everything went fine. Setup the ROM from scratch and all was well but then I kept having these issues so I shelved the G2X and went back to Sensation UNTIL T-mobile released what I thought would be a newer official build.
The fact that they are putting out V21E as the official GB build is downright sad and pathetic. After many months of promising an update they can't even get a release out there that's not busted. I know it is possible but it seems only HTC and perhaps Samsung know how to write software...my old Droid Incredible, friends Evo 4G and now Sensation are rock solid and everything just works. Samsung Nexus S and Galaxy variants also just mainly work.
I had these issues for the 24 hours I used the G2X with V21E - I got fed up and stopped using it but I'm sure there are others.
- Several times phone rang/vibrated due to incoming call so I answered the call which worked BUT the phone kept vibrating like it was still ringing even while I'm talking to the other person. Only solution is to hang up call and call back. Doesn't happen every time but happened quite often.
- Bluetooth is buggy as hell. Sometimes a device that's paired won't connect unless I powercycle the BT on the phone.
-- I was listening to music once with A2DP headset and a call came in. I answered the call and everything was great. I hung up the call and now no BT audio would come through the headset or even the phone speaker no matter what I did. Turn off BT/turn on, etc. Only solution was to powercycle
--Later on was using the phone, connected my paired A2DP headset to the G2X and almost instantly the phone screen turned off and it locked up. Had to pull the battery
- Weird issue with apps like (edit: Google's podcast app not HTC) Listen. Will play for a while and then all of a sudden stop playing and nothing I can do will get it to play again unless I uninstall/reinstall the app. Never happened on Froyo or CM7.
- Gets very warm - battery app showed the temp being well over 35 degrees celcius most times I looked and I wasn't even using the phone much.
- Was using the Google reader to read articles and all of a sudden the phone started slowing down and then it just froze with the screen on. Nothing I did would get a response from it. Power + vol up didn't work. had to pull the battery.
I mean this is freaking ridiculous. I have the Sensation setup with the exact same apps, launcher, settings, everything and I have ZERO issues. This is simply crappy software and LG should be ashamed.
FWIW, CM7 latest nightlies I never had ANY of these problems but A2DP doesn't work on CM7 so can't use it daily. Once A2DP starts working on CM7 I might give it another shot.
I'm definitely done with LG for a while.

Weird, I had reboots and SOD problems in Froyo but otherwise I had NO other issues in Froyo - when the phone wasn't rebooting or turned off it worked perfectly. This GB build has way more problems for me than Froyo.
Solid here..... Not a bad update imo
Same here I haven't experienced any of these problems, not even in Frito either. The update overall has done it all for me. I would try reinstalling the update again if I were you

I did, note how I said I set it up from scratch. There is BOUND to be issues with this because the kernel is the same as froyo - many of the problems were caused by the kernel and since that hasn't changed, how would the issues be fixed? CM7 might fix issues because it's a different kernel.
My phone is now freezing up!!! WTH! Three times since the update in less than 12 hours. I wanted to call Tmobile customer service to cancel my Value Plan i switched to a day earlier but couldn't. I had to remove the battery and reset the phone before making my call.
I told them I didn't want to spend $200 for the migration fee and then be stuck in a new 2 year contract with this G2X phone and pay a $200 if I leave that Value Plan contract or spend full price on a phone to replace this junk. I went back to my 1500 mins, unlim text, 5 gb data for $79.99 plus %15 discount on that. The person I spoke with was surprised this new update was having issues. She knew this phone had bugs because her friend had this phone. She also knew they took it off their website and just brought it back with Gingerbread.
She said she will make a note in my account to give me a full upgrade credit because I am on my second phone and I told her that I was going to leave to Sprint! Hopefully my phone wont cause me to smash it before the Samsung Hercules comes out on Sept 26.

I can't help to think that theres some app people are installing that's causing some of these issues. My phone has been perfect in operation, but froyo was great too.
People need to understand that the tegra 2 has some compatibility issues as well with some apps.
Uninstall everything 3rd party, use the phone for a day and see what probs you have.

I've had issues after a factory reset and not installing anything. Further I'm not keeping a phone that limits the apps I can install. I've got the same exact set of apps on my Sensation and it works perfectly. Its not like I have a ton of apps either, just the ones I need.

No problems so far. I love GB. My bluetooth now syncs with my radio which it wasn't doing with Froyo.
i've had none of these issues. i have had issues like this in the past with a bad flash.
Well I'm getting a replacement G2X that either will come with the update (doubt it) or I'll use OTA to get the update so if after that it doesn't work. I give up.

OK.
I hope you have better luck with your new phone. The Sensation is a piece of garbage according to many. It is all up to luck apparently. It is weird how some have no issues and some have continual issues.
I'm starting to think I have bad hardware too, I'm having more problems with GB than I did with Froyo!
What did you tell them to get a warranty exchange? I was thinking of calling and just overwhelming them with info.
Just worried the replacement device could be worse!
I can't adjust the damn touch key brightness. It is making me crazy. Also the screen is not as responsive as it was with Froyo.
and of course the battery still sucks, but apparently android is a flawed system that just sucks battery for no reason at all. I hope the google/android folks get their stuff together one of these days. I really miss my HD2 battery life. You would think a bigger battery and newer operating system would be more efficient, but crappy battery life seems to be the norm. The tmobile guber that sold me my phones assured me I would get the same life out of the battery, but he was very wrong.

Nope you're not the only one. My G2x today decided for the first time to freeze while I was using it. Plus with this update I get less signal than I had before.
This phone and how tmobile handled it in my situation left a foul taste in my mouth forcing me to switch to Sprint and the HTC EVO 4G. So far its been a happy switch, my phone hasn't locked up, no reboots, doesn't overheat and battery lasted me about 30 hours with moderate use (web browsing for about 30mins, 1hr phone call, and about 2hrs overall on xda) also had WiFi on plus Bluetooth.
Sadly I lost 4G data since Sprint doesn't have any 4G towers in my area yet. But @ $110 a month for unlimited everything and no data throttling it was a good move, plus nice to have signal while at home. WiFi calling worked whenever it felt like so it was no more reliable than plain cell service.

So many problems with the Sensation

I came from the G2X because that phone was riddled with problems, but now it seems like I may have made a huge mistake. That phone's problems were nothing compared to the problems that I'm having with this phone and it seems to be getting worse.
The power button issue where at least two or three times a day, the home button is turning into a screen capture button. VERY annoying to have to deal with that, then go and delete all the stupid screen caps from the photo album.
Inability for the camera to focus on anything in macro/close up. I can't use any barcode apps, which I used to use all the time.
Complete loss of signal for no apparent reason until I toggle on/off airplane mode or restart about two or three times a week. EXTREMELY annoying and makes me miss important calls.
Phone freezing for no apparent reason in middle of a phone call.
The internet lag, which occurs when you're surfing and it takes 4-5 seconds to just connect and start downloading. I've never seen this with any previous smart phones.
These are only the major problems.
Are they planning to fix any of these problems? I have had some bad RMA issues in the past and would prefer not to get a crappy refurbished phone that's going to still have most, if not all of these issues (which all seem pretty wide spread).
Since I know that many of you are having these issues, what are you doing about them?
I don't have any of this issues and you should definitely consider getting an exchange for another Sensation.
I used to have a G2x too and 200% more happy with my Sensation.
What software version are you.running?

Unfortunately the problems you are describing are just part of the "fun" of owning a Sensation. This was without a doubt one of the worst purchases I have ever made, and I still cant believe HTC produced this phone. Its almost as if they fired the entire quality control department just to get these handsets out the door. Regardless, I feel bad that you (likely) spent $600 on an awful device like I did. I would suggest you try and sell it on Craigslist and then buy the new Nexus device next month. However, you will then need to deal with knowing you sold some poor sucker a total piece of sh*t....... Its really a 'lose/lose/ situation buddy, I feel for ya!
I came from the g2x as well. After two g2x s and the same problems with both, no GPS locking and **** battery life ( dead by 5pm ). This phone isn't the best but it's been an amazing phone for me. I think you just got a bad one.

The Optimus 2x and G2x are the worst Android devices of 2011. Riddled with random reboots, reboots by charging and battery pulls, quite frankly how anyone can see it differently is nuts.

That is VERY bad advice. The most recent OTA update actually caused many of the problems people are now experiencing. More specifically, the newest OTA update now causes random screenshots (when pressing home) and makes the touchscreen very unresponsive. If I could go back to the previous version I would, however you do lose some functionality by doing so.
As before, dont just take my advice. Spend a few minutes on this forum and you with find thousands of other users pulling their hair out after purchasing this phone. Regarding the issue that occurs after updating via OTA, I point you to the following thread.

I had thought I would be raving about this phone to be honest. I was a blackberry user for well over 10 years, going waaay back to the RIM 850 (I bet most people reading this were YOUNG children when that came out!). In the early 2000's I began importing the original HTC windows mobile handsets for sale on ebay, and I have tested, sold, and used almost every "smartphone" released since then. About a year ago I finally came to the realization that the Blackberry platform was showing its age, so I began looking into Android. After a few months of going back and forth I bought the G2, and then a few months later I "upgraded" to the Sensation. BIG MISTAKE!!! Between the sluggish, battery hogging monster that is the Sense OS and the HORRIBLE build quality of this phone, nothing good has come out of this relationship. For the few that have had no problems with this phone, just wait, they will develop! For those who are toying with the idea of buying this phone JUST WALK AWAY. Unless you can get this phone for free, and unless you don't mind sending it back for repair (over and over and over) then looks elsewhere for your Android fix.

[Q] Problem with Samsung phone performance

Been contemplating for a while whether to post this as it will come off as rather trollish. Had my Infuse for over a year now. When I first got it I noticed there were some "issues". I remained patient hoping or thinking maybe when GB was released it would improve. It did not. Later I needed to root this phone and came here, found a ROM that had all the AT&T junk stripped out. Phone worked better, but still had these issues.
I got to the point that I knew I would never again purchase either a Samsung phone or Android. Did not know what the culprit was. Just recently I had the chance to really take a look at an HTC EVO, and I realized that Samsung is the problem, not Android.
Number one issue is that this phone is sluggish, and sometimes unresponsive. I will touch whatever button and get that vibrating acknowledgement, but nothing happens. I will be in the app menu and wish to exist and the home button just does not respond.
Yesterday I missed a call because the bloody phone just did not respond, even though I touched the answer button. Other times I just can not make a call. I dial number, and the phone just sits there doing nothing. Eventually I just pull out the battery and restart the phone to make a simple bloody call. I had a HTC WinMo phone for years and never once experienced this. No matter how farked the OS could get with some app or whatever, the phone function always worked.
I do not run a lot of apps, and recently have experienced these issues with almost literally no apps installed. I will then add something like GO taskmanger just to confirm that the unresponsive behavior is not due to some app taking up memory/CPU etc..
Sorry for the long post, but I am at my wits end with this bloody phone. The fact that I miss calls when the **** phone is right in my hand is unacceptable. So before placing this phone in a box filled with C4 and shooting this to the moon, hoping that maybe a solution is out there.
p.s. I have 2 Infuse in use, both have the same issue.
What firmware are you running?
Is it the same firmware on both phones?
What is the launcher?
Have you tried a different modem?
Are you using a battery saver like juice defender?
Are you using an ad blocker?
Are you using a specific kernel? Oc? Uv?
Need for specific info

You know, for the rather lengthy post, you really have not explained any detail about your issue.. You have a generic 'I have an issue, the Infuse sucks' post and its not going to help anyone resolve your issue. I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that you have 2 infuses having the SAME EXACT ISSUE. Yes, there will be times when you get a defective phone or it isnt working up to your standards, but to have 2 defective phones with the same defect? You need to play the lottery. Also, i suggest you send the phones back. It sounds like youve already made your mind up and have pretty much bashed the samsung infuse in that entire post. The same samsung infuse that myself, and plenty of other people live with day to day and have absolutely 0 complaints.
I will give you $20.00 a piece for them!!!!

Simple . Hack it and put cm7 on it if you really need speed. Maybe its your screen protecter. Wipe the screen off. Cm9 can be sluggish, for speed go to miui on gingerbread or cm7
Id be willing to buy one of the infuses
Trust me...sounds like you got two defective units...which like Scott, I find hard to believe...but hey its possible-idk when you got hem.but if it hasn't been a year then put them back to stock with gtgs unbrick and file a warranty claim with Samsung...the infuse is a great phone and I never had the problem you described...I do have a question though...did you get them both at the same time? Cause I don't see why you would get a second if your first was having problems
Anyways...if you wanna sell one hmu...I may buy one depending on the price and if I can get the money (I think I already may have one lined up for $170 just need to get the money)

Again this has been a recurring problem since purchase, and during this time I have had stock Froyo, rooted Froyo ROM, GB update, and for one now a the GB rooted ROM.
When the slow to unresponsiveness occurs there does not appear to be any specific cause. Prior to updating to the rooted GB I had used GO Taskmanager, and long before that some other app I long since forgot the name of. Point was that they had shown that neither CPU was excessive, or memory was used up. Both phones have data services disabled and are strictly Wifi only. There are no tasks or extra programs run in the background (though did install Connectbot today). I no longer use any Live wallpaper. After updating to the rooted GB I left the phone in that state (no software installed) for a week or so, and the problem still occured.
This occurs when calling or answering calls, but as previously posted occurs sometimes just opening the Applications menu as an example. So it is not a specific task or program that is slow or unresponsive. Earlier this evening I got a call, slide the bar across to answer and the screen just hung there for a few moments. This time it was at least not long enough that I missed the call. When the call was done I looked and there simply was nothing running on the phone. No apps, no web browser or mail, in fact I was not even connected to the wifi (I have data 3G/4G service disabled on the phone).
are you completely wiping before every flash youve done? have you tried a complete wipe and start from fresh?

Task manager is NOT the best app to tell you what is running in the background.
Maps and other location apps may not be listed but will consume resourse that can be the cause of your lag.
The fact that stopping wallpaper or live wall paper off alleviate the condition may suggest that the phone is running at max capacity. Steps to reduce the load improves it. Live wp, facebook, maps, stock email and other device manager from stock att was one of the first @#$% I took out on any rom I run.
Having a large amount of apps installed can also cause this lag. The OS may only be able to handle so many.
Have a poor signal at the time of the call may also be an issue, especially if both of your phones have this issue occasionally but not consistently.
Lock screen can also be a factor. Some sleep setting may also cause the phone to wake up poorly. I get around this by turning off my lock screen. On the call settings, you can also change the answering options so that it will override others and make it easy to answer.
On any firmware - stock or modded, after you have the phone running for an extended period of time without a reboot, you may start to see some lags. This may be across all devices. You may need to reboot it occasionally or boot into recovery and wipe the cache.
These issues may or not go away once you have a device with more power or resources..ex: dual or quad core, 1gb or 2gb ram etc..my guess is when a device has more power, programmers will come up with more resourse intensive apps that may hinder the phone as well.
Lastly, pay attention to your battery meter. As the power dips below 30%, there are steps taken by the OS to conserve the battery. This may give you lags as well..possibly one of the reason why it seems random also.
If you wanted to test out the lag issue due to background apps, go to settings/account and sync. turn off background data. You will retain the (radio) phone and text but there will be no email/facebook, weather, widgets/market/amazon etc updates unless you manually update them. If this runs smoothly but lags when you turn it back on, you can start the process of narrowing down your culprit.

[Q] Many problems after Atrix 2 OTA ICS update

Hello everyone,
I upgraded my Atrix 2 (AT&T, no previous mods) to ICS the other day and it has been nothing but problems ever since. Anything I tried to open (dialer, apps, menu's) would take 30+ seconds, some would never open. The Play store download are crazy slow. For example I tried updating Youtube and after 15 minutes it was at 18%. People would call and I would try to answer, but it stopped ringing long before it would actually try to answer. I was getting random reboots. I decided to do a factory reset.
Although it would boot fine now, it was still really buggy and laggy. Most apps take a good 30 seconds to load. The menu's seem to respond fine and so does the dialer. The play store is the exact same, painfully slow. It doesn't matter if it is Wifi or 4g. Although the web browser is slow to load, web pages load relatively quickly. It does stop responding every minute or so and takes a good 15 seconds to continue.
I turned on "Show all ANR's" in the developer options. When it boots I get a barrage of non responding apps/services for the first 10 minutes, then it slows down. I still get random ones though. Homescreen quite often and "com.motorola.process.system" not responding. I turned on CPU usage in the developers options, but I'm not sure what the information means or what is acceptable/unacceptable. I compared the values/graphs to my wife's ICS tablet and hers are much lower. For example:
My Atrix 2: 5.72 / 6.28 / 6.76 (graph is 1/3 of the way across the screen, most of it is blue, graph jumps around)
Transformer Tablet: 0.0 / 0.06 / 0.06 (graph is almost non existant).
Motorola support told me that I cannot compare the graphs because the 2 ICS versions are different enough that the values could not be compared. Maybe, maybe not. All they offered was for me to send the phone in. I'm searching the web like crazy, but I think that the update is new enough where there isn't too much content on the subject yet.
Anyone have any ideas on what I can do/try? Any tips on how to troubleshoot the problem?
Thanks
Dustin

I tried several times (as mentioned) and although it was an improvement from the original update, it still performs terribly.
You said you hadn't done any mods. I assume you also did the official OTA update to ICS? In that case, I'd take the phone back to AT&T and ask for a replacement. If you're within the warranty period, they should honor it since you didn't do any mods/flashing.

Your assumption is correct, it was the official OTA upgrade. If there isn't really anything I can do, then I might just take it in. Motorola wanted me to send it in but I can't be without a phone for 1 week +. Hopefully I can work it out at the store so I don't have to send it in.
It could be a rogue app. Do a factory reset and clear the dalvik cache too.then do not sign in to your google. See what happens.

In the initial days after the ICS OTA I faced a lot less severity of similar issue raised by you which does not occur now by itself but sometimes very rarely.
As a last resort charge up fully, since you are ok with factory reset do it once more & then reboot and ensure you do not touch any of the default developer options. Don't use any apps explicitly from your end at all besides your core dialler and mobile data/wi-fi (which will of course bring up any background syncs & programs associated with background data). After an hour's use go to running apps and post screen shots (if need be after scrolling down for additionally non visible programs on visible screen) & similarly do the exercise for cached apps & maybe it'll help someone more knowledgeable to give some inputs as it'll show exactly what apps initialize & are active by themselves. Also before all this, screenshot "ANR's" since you have it enabled at the moment and finally I assume you are non rooted (just to know).

I went into the semi-local AT&T service store and they said that this is a known issue to them. They told me that they couldn't give me a new phone because all of their replacement Atrix 2's came in with ICS and they had to send them back. Supposedly there is a fix coming for it someday.
I will give your posts a shot here over the next few days and report back the results. Normally I'd do it tonight but it's also a business phone and I just need it to work for me until the weekend. Thanks for the help!
I failed to get screen shots of the running services. The only way I could see a way to do it was take pictures with a camera and what I had handy only took blurry pictures.
I have made some sort of progress though. I did as you guys said, wiped it and basically did nothing with it for more than an hour.
I connected to WIFI and checked the web browser, works pretty well.
I put in a clean flash card and loaded music, the player works fine.
I eventually added an my personal and work email accounts, they work fine.
Sync'd my contacts with AT&T, still working fine.
The dialer, text messageing, preloaded apps all work fine.
As soon as I launch the play store and sign into my google account, it all goes down hill. Everything gets super slow and most things I'm trying to do temporarily stop responding. I wiped it again, re-did everything last night except my google account and it's now working fine again.

Since you mentioned Signing into Google play is issue, I am just thinking it could be because of the backup & restore option. Bu default Google allows to back up and restore your account. Its highly like you selected that too. There could some app which causing this issue. May be you can give a try without checking restore option....may not help out but just a thought...
That's a good suggestion sazhagianambi. I'll try that sometime today.
I let my phone run all day yesterday without signing into my google account. When I finally went to sign in I saw that check box... right after I hit sign in. I unchecked it, but I had already hit the sign in button so I think it was too late.
For taking screenshot, you have to press power & volume down button simultaneously. It works for sure. Google Play store is definitely acting slow on ICS but does not effect rest of my apps. I have noticed this whenever I update apps updates (I have disabled auto updates for all apps though & check manually) Everyone echoes the fact that do not go beyond class 6 SD's which is one thing you may want to consider (I am however using class 10 which is said to be a ticking time bomb & also it is mentioned never to install apps to SD card (which I do) but stay away from "Link2SD" & do not move apps marked with grey icon when it says movable. Avoid live widgets if possible. In any case it is recommended to reboot once in two days like how we do our computers to flush the ram and renew the system.
If yet your concern is so grave (& which it sounds) then by all means you should consider getting a replacement from AT&T if you are under warranty.

I eventually admitted defeat and called for a replacement. Unfortunately it showed up late and had to leave for a business trip. So I'm sure it's sitting on my porch right now. Oh well.
I appreciate everyone's input. I'm curious if it shows up with ICS on it or not.
I am experiencing the exact same thing on mine. I also felt that the Google Play store was the issue... so much that I uninstalled it and re-installed the newest version from an apk off the web. I swear my phone ran smooth for a couple days. I was pumped. But then, the slowness returned. It's horrible. I just 'froze' the Play store with Titanium backup, and will see if that helps. If so, I'll report back.

I wonder if anyone has been having success with the update. I'd have to assume yes since it's still available for download.
I got home last night and my replacement phone has Gingerbread. I'm thinking about rooting it and backing it up then trying the update again.

Hi,
Did you say your local ATT retailer said there is a known "problem" with operating ICS on it...I have been soft bricked since the OTA update..I am not a programmer, and have been reading posts for weeks..overwhelmed. out of warranty, and moisture sensor positive, so I will get nothing from ATT, unless there is a recognized compatibility issue?
Anyway, If your retailer said so, maybe I can relay that to my local,
thanks,

It was our local AT&T service center (Portland, OR) that said it was a known issue (the guys at the retail store knew nothing). He knew exactly what I was talking about and said that he had gotten an email a couple of days before about the update. He also said that he would have swapped my phone out right then and there but he had to send all of their replacement phones back because they came with ICS.
I wasn't sure if he was serious or just yanking my chain. I find it pretty hard to believe that it would be such a wide spread issue and the update would still be available. They did replace my phone though. My replacement phone has been reminding me of it but I've been ignoring it.

ATT. They sent me a new one and I sent my old one back after it arrived.
So I couldn't take it anymore, I got the update bug. This time I got all my pics and contacts backed up, factory reset, then OTA and it works like a Swiss Watch. I feel much better being on ICS now.
