WW-eird or what? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just went to check out the transformer at some stores.
OK now comes the weird part;
I live in dubai > UAE > Asia
And each and every units build showed it had us rom???
dosent matter but what the hell???

parallel imports, maybe? or perhaps your local rules re: wifi channels / signal strength etc. more closely match those in the us firmware than the other variants?

yah maybe you are right

Live Search-Could it be that lost?

I downloaded the latest version of MS Live Search. When I choose the traffic tab and then choose my state (New York) then choose "Locate Me". It is coming up with Turkey! That's right-the country Turkey - WTF ! I have been having trouble with the accuracy in GPS showing me about 1/4 mile from where I actually am, but Turkey is 1000's of miles from here.
Does anyone have this problem?
Is there any way to improve the accuracy of the GPS?
Rom: 1.94.710.2 WWE
Radio: 1.02.25.19
Thats pretty funny.
Yeah when i press locate me it gets the right zip code but it always names towns that are pretty far away and im also in NY. weird.
alex...me too. I always figured it must have something to do with where the cell towers are located. It is annoying, as is the Locate Me placing me pretty far off course. This didn't bother me too much until this weird Turkey problem.
My touch Pro is an Australian model bought in Hong Kong. How about yours?
I'm using Rom: 1.94.710.2 WWE and Radio: 1.02.25.19.
I've read suggestions to update radio and Rom but I can't see how those could affect location accuracy.
Im using the Fuze with the new leaked At&t Rom and Radio 1.12.25.19.
But my friend has the same issue with his Tilt also on At&t. Im honestly thinking its something with Microsoft's Maps not coordinating too good because the locate me feature on google maps works almost flawlessly.

Android Operating System US to UK

Can anyone please help me. I own an unlocked T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S (Vibrant) which I originally purchased from T-Mobile in the USA.
I have recently moved to the UK and had the handset unlocked. Does anyone know how to remove the US version of the Android operating system (which I am guessing is specific to the T-Mobile Vibrant) and replace it with the UK version of the Samsung Galaxy S operating system.
Additionally the GPS is not working on the phone in the UK however works fine when I am back in the USA. I spoke with both Samsung and T-mobile and neither were much help. Someone did mention that I need to get the GPS configuration codes but have no idea how to find them let alone install them.
Please help me with this as I am going crazy.
Thanks
For the GPS, you should be able to download a GPS app from the market such as GPS Status or Faster Fix which will download the assist data to help you out. As far as a "UK version of android," I think you're confused. There's no US or UK version. The Android on your Vibrant is the same Android on the i9000, but each one is optimized for its hardware. You can't just switch them back and forth and expect it to work.
Thanks but I've already tried using the samsung app GPS restore and it still doesn't connect with the satellites.
As far as the operaying system is concerned I agree that it must be optimized for the hardware as my Vibrant (which is obviously optimized for T-Mobile in the USA). When I look at my contacts all of the phone numbers are displayed in the US telephone number format (xxx-xxx-xxxx) which is different from that in the UK.
I guess I am just going to have to buy a UK cell phone to be able to connect to the satellites here in the UK.

That's just your locale setting. Install MoreLocales2 and setup one for GB, and you'll get UK English instead of US English, including UK formatting.
As for GPS, there is no reason why it wouldn't work in the UK; it's the same satellite network! What software are you using?

Poor cellular reception with P6800

Hello all,
I got my P6800 in Malaysia and flashed to ICS with one of the official firmwares from the thread. I think its the HK one since it has chinese IME built in. I'm currently in UK and have a SIM under the mobile network 3. The reception I'm getting is really poor and unstable, and keeps on dropping while displaying messages like 'No service' all over the place. I never inserted a Malaysian SIM into the tablet before.
Some info under my device settings:
Model Number: GT-P6800
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: P6800XXLPW
Kernel version: 3.0.15-P6800ZSLP7-CL910862
Is it a hardware fault or can it be fixed at my end? My Tab pretty much lost half its functions if I can't make any calls or text.
Thanks in advance.
Any help? I'm still having very poor reception. This is driving me up the wall
Dude I think u need to flash another modem for best reception.maybe i can try australia rom modem think is lp7.try it and see how it's goes
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA Premium HD app
Thanks for the sugggestion. So I need to flash to a different firmware from the offical thread? Woulnt the Uk one be more appropriate for me
i don't know much about modems, but this problem isn't really happening for honeycomb and ics devices, unlike gingerbread and froyo.
i have a Hong Kong tab and gsm works really well in Algeria (totally different operators and hardware)
do you have some special hardened case? it may cover the reception antenna?
otherwise you can try another rom and see if correct the problem.
best regards
Sifou
Galaxy Tab 7.7
Its happening even without a case. I will flash to a new ROM when I have the time. I really hope it isn't something hardware related, its gonna be troublesome trying to get it replaced.
in this case, i wish you good luck somebody
just make sure you follow the instructions. don't tick or untick anything by your own.
best regards

Bell HTC One S Constantly disconnecting

Hey guys,
I am having a few issues that someone here might be able to help me with which would be splendid. I have a rogers HTC ONE S that was unlocked and now being used with Bell. The issue however is that the connection keeps dropping after every 30 seconds to a minute. I'll get like 4 bars which would automatically drop down to 0 and then to no service/emergency services only. The phone is unlocked however. On a rogers/Fido network the connection stays solid on bell it keeps dropping every minute to 30 seconds. I am assuming this is a baseband issue?
Can somoene with an HTC One S on bell network tell me what baseband radio firmware they are using?
Regards
you have to change the file build.prop
there are few lines provider specific, you have to find those
there are few bell stock rom and ruu floating up here, go into system dir and find the build.prop file
usually the needed lines are at the top
for the baseband, fir the most of the time, bell and rogers/fido were using the same radio file; you can try however some of the European files, depending on what rom are you

I Am currently running Trickdroid JB 4.1.1. I was able to get into my Build.prop but i am not sure what changes to make. I guess i'll search around but i dont know if this will actually help me with my signal issue.
it should and will help;
bell network and rogers network are not similar; even are build with same equipment and use mostly the same technologies
first you have to be sure you have the correct settings for bell APN in your wireless settings
then in the build.prop change at least the lines containing ro.ril.hsdpa, ro.ril.hsupa, ro.ril.hsxpa, fast.dormancy and radio.svn
Bell's signal strength here in Montreal is meh ...
hmm, dont know why are you saying that
in MTL they have almost the same number of towers with a little plus for bell, because they share the network with telus so the signal should be at least the same
it is true however that indoor, shopping malls, downtown buildings, underground town rogers is better developed in some spots, mostly in smaller sites;
on one side, bell almost finished the rolling up to real 4g, at 42Mbps; on the other side rogers is more axed on LTE rollup;
time will tell

[Q] i9103 radio/baseband in USA

Hi, I recently bought a used i9103 on eBay that was imported from an overseas country (Still not sure which country), seeing as it was never sold in the US. After using it a few weeks, I notice that the signal jumps radically, even when the phone is stationary.
So my question is, which baseband/modem/radio would be best? (Specifically for T-Mobile USA)
As a note, I am in a major metro zone and other phones in this same area get a strong and consistent signal.
The baseband is currently XXLQ3.
Thanks.
You can try DDLP3 baseband from Indian ICS XWLP8 rom. That's the latest and that's why it should be the best one.
I flashed the modem alone from XWLP8. I'll report back in a few days if there's any difference. I guess I should also ask if there's any difference in hardware in the models shipped to different regions? Or is there only one model, just with different software?
There is only one model as far as we know, at least there weren't any others reported.
Just an update, flashing the Indian radio didn't seem to help at all. Signal still jumps up and down wildly. Turning on Data Roaming did not help either.
