[Q] set cpu, how to set up? - HTC Sensation

anybody got any tutorials on getting set cpu to work on the sensation? what do i select at the first boot of set cpu where i have many phone models to choose from as i cant see the sensation

I too would love some ideas on settings

When I used it on the HTC HD2 the recommended settings was to have the scaling set to "On Demand" and the box checked for Set on Boot. max 1000, min 216. The second item you want to do is click on the profiles tab and add Screen Off and set the min and max to 216 each and set scaling to "On Demand". make sure you check the box "Enable". Also make sure you grant permission in SuperUser. These setting work great on the Sensation from what I have seen.

it seems that there is a new OC Deamon on its way:

should be default OC-D in AR soon!

Your SetCPU setting(s)?

What scaling setting do you use, maybe you have custom profile?
I personally use 'ondemand', but I was thinking.... It would be nice to have a smart scaling setting, based on the amount the phone is used, screen brightness and the battery temperature, etc.

Hi.
I've set mine at 576 max and left minimum at 245, scaling is on demand, and have set a profile for screen off at 245 for both. I've left the advanced screen as I don't have a clue what any of it means lol.
Non
Used it at first when got rooted. still on root BA23 firmware and im very happy with the current setup. I left the processor to operate the way it want to do.
Dont take me wrong, its a great software, everything is depends on overall apps you are running. and its unique to your phone, check its really necessary.
After-all we are talking about android, not windows.
I want to know the best setting also I had some custome profiles (after reading in a post on XDA) but phone got slow, laggy & sometimes call drop. Then i deleted all custome profiles

I had that problem once. But i think it is a OS bug than the SetCPU bug itself. You should re-root your fone and set profiles one more time. It will help you save a lot of battery
My setting (following someone on the net)
- Fully chage (AC/USB): 998/245
- Screenoff: Max: 348 Min: 245
- Battery <25%: Max: 348 Min: 245
Ok Dundun, I've set profiles again same as yours let's see how it workd
Just came across this thread for decent SetCPU setting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734886

[Q] CM7 performance settings?

Without setcpu or pimp installed, if I just set the max of 1000 and min of 216 in the cm7 performance settings menu to restore on boot, will I get the same effect (the only governor setting that will stick is "null")?
Or is it still beneficial to use setcpu to set a screen-off profile?
And the screen-off profile, should the min and max be the same? 216/216? Or is it better to stagger it a little, like 216/312?
I ended up still using setcpu. The built in CPU settings did not work for me.

No, because this allows the governor to change the CPU anywhere between 216 and 1000. This is the default; unrooted stock has it like this.

I keep it 216/216 then allow an in-call profile that goes up to 312 in case when I'm calling someone and the screen is off it needs a bit more juice.
So basically, if I have setcpu installed, but I leave profiles "DISABLED", and leave the sliders alone, then I'm getting no different result from stock? The governor will decide to use the cpu at whatever frequency between 216 and 1000 that it needs at the time?

The Tegra 2 chipset doesn't allow you to change the governor settings. So to answer your question, yes the CPU chooses what frequency it needs depending on load.

[Q] How can I verify that Voltage Control worked?

Whenever I enter the app, it looks like all my settings have been reset, and it shows me running at 1000mhz (despite me setting the max to 800).
Here's how I'm using it, I change all the settings, click apply, then save profile, then save boot settings. Then I reboot my phone.
Additionally, all the menu items under I/O Scheduler and CPU Governor are tripled. What's going on?
I have problems with the boot settings...from what I understand you have to just reconfigure it every time your phone boots. Kinda sucks.
Also, you don't have to reboot to apply settings: it does it as soon as you hit save.

undervolting questions

Ive seen an undervolting option in systemtunerpro and ive seen people talking about undervolting.
what will it do to my phone?
if so what should I under volt it to?
the app has 2 buttons that add or subtract 12.5(I think I can't check right now) to all the values at one time. how many times should I press it?
I've searched but cant find nothing

If you do it right your battery lasts longer and your cpu will be cooler.
It means that the cpu needs less power than normal. But every cpu is different, so you can probably not undervolt that much like someone other.
If you want to do it right, try this:
Search the App "Stability Test".
Then go into System Tuner and look, which Cpu-Freq. are needed most. These are the ones on which you should focus on to undervolt.
First you can set all freq. -25mv, then run the "scaling stability test" in the stability test app. If your phone doesn't freeze in the next 15 min, you can set -25mv again. Do this until your phone reboots or abort the test itself. Then set it 2 steps above the values which didn't work to prevent reboots.
Now you should change only the freq which were used most. But only one after one. If your phone uses (for example) 192 mhz, 1,08ghz and 1,5 ghz most, first undervolt the 192mhz (again till your phone reboots or you can't set it lower).
Then the same with 1,08 Ghz and then 1,5Ghz. If your phone reboots, set it 2 steps above the value which didn't work, so you can be sure that your phone doesn't reboot again.
If you found out which values your phone can handle, go into "System Tuner", CPU, Voltage, Boot settings, then "Re-apply CPU Settings". For the first time you should set it to "On boot completed", if you didn't notice any problem you can set it to "init.d script".
If this doesn't work for you, go back to "voltages", then hold "reset all/clear" till it changes to "save defaults". Press it once, so your values are set as defaults. If you rebooted your phone you have only to go into "System Tuner" and press "Reset all/clear" once, then it will set your values again.
I hope my englisch is good enough to understand it

Can't get Tasker to change CPU clock speeds

I'm trying to set a screen off profile to lower CPU speeds. I have the Governor set to powersave, the min set to 300000, the max set to 652800. I ran the task and it asked for root, so that was a good sign. I used the no thrlls CPU app and it definitely has the profile set to powersaver, however the clock speeds were at 1.7 to 2.4 GHtz instead of 300 to 652 MHtz.
If I can't get this figured out, can anyone suggest a CPU governing app that allows profiles such as this?

I haven't messed with CPU Profiles in quite a while, so apologies if this doesn't help, but have you tried using SetCPU? I usually just use that to set up a Screen Off profile.
