[Q] Change gTablet rom from Vegan Tab to Honeycomb - G Tablet General

A week ago I got a gTablet from eBay and I've been very happy playing with it every day. The main reason to get this tablet was the possibility to get Honeycomb working on the device.
Now I'm ready to go forward and install a Honeycomb rom on it, but there are some issues that I can't resolve.
The first thing is the tablet came already rooted with VEGAn-TAB. Due to the fact that I have to check the bootloader version, I followed the well known instructions to do that, that is, go to Settings > About tablet > Tapu UI Version. The first problem I run into was that I don't have Settings > About tablet, I have Settings > About phone. When I tap on that option, I don't get Tapu UI Version. This is what I get:
Model number: VEGAn-TAB
Android version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: Unknown
Kernel version: 2.6.32.36-cyanogenmod root at pershoot-ubuntu #1
CPU info: ARMv7 Processor rev o (v7l)
Mod version: VEGAn-7.0.0-RC1-Harmony
Build number: GRI40
Can I infere the bootloader version from this info?
The second thing is I have to decide wich rom can I install after getting the bootloader version.
And the last issue is what is the recommended procedure to install the selected rom given the current configuration of my tablet?
I've read several guides, lots of forum posts, and I've made a great deal of searches but haven't had any luck, so I decided to post this in the hope that someone of the great devs here can help me with my task.
Any help will be very apreciated.

Doesn't matter. Honeycomb has a different structure than everything else. You need to perform code red on my website to install honeycomb. Click in signature.

That looks like vegan tab ginger edition.
Should be 1.1 BL
You should be able to drop this Honeycomb rom on it... Get the 1.1BL version. It works well. I moved from VeganTab Ginger to this just fine

Thank you for your help goodintentions, I went to your excellent website and read the section you sugested. Now I'm a very happy Honeycomb user.

I copied the BL1.1 ROM from the link you provided me to the gTab and then I followed the guide to flash it from goodintentions' website and voilà!! after a few minutes I was playing with Honeycomb. Awesome!!!
Thank you very much for your help.

I am waiting for an update as I lost bluetooth after updating to Beta 3.1. Very snappy. Which ROM are you using?

I installed yesterday. But I can not see any videos (sound only, flash 10.3 plugin). Does anybody know why?

I'm loving this Honeycomb ROM; there's no chance I'll be switching back.

Erm, on a side question, which HC rom are you using?
Is it Bottle of Smoke Honeycomb? Or gTab comb ? Honeycomb illuminate. I am now using a CM7 harmony and no idea which HC is better. I don't need bluetooth or camera, but I sure want a good stable HC

+1 for GtabComb
If your not on it, get on it. If you are and cant get flash to work then do this. Make sure adobe flash 10.3 is installed in market, then download and install Opera MOBILE browser. Flash will then work

Well, I still can't get Flash to work for everything (Flash games such as Cityville, Dungeon Overlord, CivWorld, etc).

I'm using GtabComb 3.1, you can find the link in schettj's post in the begining of this thread.

Upgrade to 3.2
A day after I flashed GtabComb beta 3.1 on my gTab, zyhong posted a new rom, beta 3.2. I would like to upgrade to this version, without having to reinstall all the apps I already have now. Any advice on how to do it? I'm planning to use Titanium Backup but I don't know what to backup (should I backup just user apps or user apps + system data)
As always, any help would be highly appreciated.

Instructions are on one of the last pages of the gtabcomb thread. Someone just asked that.

Thanks dman918, indeed there is a post about it in the gtabcomb thread. I just copied the zip file to the gtab, went to recovery mod, flashed the zip and cleared dalvik cache. After reboot, I found everything in its place.

Glad I could help! Also good to know for when the next release comes out.

[Q] noob question about Gingerbread

Hey all...this is my first Android phone (coming from a long line of BB's) so please bear with me.
I managed to root my phone a few weeks ago using the instructions found on this site and it worked great! I wanted to update to Gingerbread 2.3.3 and found the "easiest" way to do so here:
http://androidadvices.com/how-to-up...-to-gingerbread-2-3-3-firmware/#comment-10119
Downloaded odin, flashed the ROM and everything seemed to work fine. I wont bore you guys with reading everything on that page, but it seems that that particular version was a bit buggy....especially with the missing dialed calls in the call log.
Now, I read another post as per the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146145
Is this the same version as I already downloaded? I just want to avoid the same issue with the call log.
Basically, all I want to do is to update my phone to the latest version of Gingerbread, the EASIEST way possible, and to get the most STABLE and best performing version. If I could avoid all the bloatware, then thats a plus!
I dont really care about rooting, or any other fancy features. I just want a good performing, quick and stable phone.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
download dsexton's modified build.prop and it will be more responsive, smoother and faster
Problem is that none of the gb roms out right now are official releases. They are leaks so they are supposed to be buggy. The devs here are working hard to get a full gb rom with recovery support asap.

Tiamat Rom 2.0 Manta Ray is great. For me, stock rom is boring. With Tiamat you get all the functions stock 3.2 still doesn't have.
If so could u help me to have Tiamat rom on mine? I think i have the stock rom rooted now.. .not sure tho cuz i dont know much about this stuff.. step by step guidance will be very helpful, thanks alot
You do need to know whether you are rooted and what rom you are currently running. This information will determine what method you use to flash the Tiamat rom.Have you tested to see if you have root? That will make things easier.
thanks okantomi for your advice, the guy who sold this xoom to me told me it's rooted. i even downloaded a few apk apps and they work fine. i am sure it's rooted but i don't know what type of rom its running. could you be able to tell what rom it's running by looking at the info? thanks..Here is info on my xoom

[Q] From stock to Team Eos Wifi Nightlie (wingray/MZ604)

Hi,
I'll be getting my brand new Xoom Wifi (EU) next week. Now that there's an ICS rom with camera and hdmi, I want to upgrade to ICS. I have some experience with rooting/flashing the Hannspree Hannspad but just to be sure. The steps to go from stock to Team Eos Wifi Nightlie (wingray/MZ604):
- root
- install clockworkmod
- flash zip from sd
Is this correct ?
Thanks

I am about 90% sure that's correct. Not feeling to well right now and its been a while since I flashed from stock. I am sure someone will correct me if necessary.

You can use the guide, below. I recommend that you read the 1st post thoroughly and at least read the last several pages as they may be somewhat relevant to your situation.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction !
Don't upgrade to any ics rom if you are planing to test drive or daily use the Xoom. You will not be able to play games that have 3d. Only native apps will work (some). I think its the build and not that its a new OS...but its a nightly so you can't complain. I'm going to relock my Xoom and wait for the official release. There is no real point in using a custom rom if you are at the newest OS and the horse power is great for gaming and working. There are plenty of apps that will give you customization without root. Overclocking is not that notorious but will drain the baterry faster so there is no gain. ICS looks awesome and devs are really genious but I think the rom will not be useful until the official update comes out.
I'm coming from the Hannspree Hannspad and on that tablet I've used all kinds of roms (different Honeycomb flavors). I'm not sure I understand what you mean here. From what I've read in the forums the current build is a fully functional ICS rom. Can someone shed a light on this ?
Games or apps that require 3d doesn't work. Even soul craft that is a ics compatible game. So its not ics ...its the rom. I'm not complaining its a nightly but people saying its a functional build...well it is if you stay with the stock apps and native made apps. But for me its not. List of apps that doesn't work that I use. AutoCAD,Photoshop, gta3 , every gameloft , dead space.... some other apps work but sometimes fc or refuse to open and have to reboot. Some will say its not the rom but devs not upgrading theyr apps for ics but I have seen games working and then not in every ics build. So there's that.
Most of the application works. gameloft's game is not working currently.
I m nw on teameos aosp build29 n i m very satisfy with this rom. It is extremely smooth n fast. camera is working now too.

Actually the nightly builds are quite functional for daily drivers. It depends on what you do with your Xoom. I'm not that much of a gamer, so I don't care much about that. Photoshop Touch works fine, but can't connect with Creative cloud (at least a few builds ago when I tried), most everything else works fine. Not all apps have made the changes needed for compatibility with ICS yet, so not really an Eos ICS Nightly problem.
All went smooth. Running ICS now! Heaven. Thanks a lot!
Edit: should cifs work out of the box? Using cifs manager but cannot mount shares
Edit 2: When upgrading to a new nightly: just wipe cache & flash zip ? (sorry can't post in the correct forum yet).

Need Android Revolutions 2.3.2 TF101

I've searched Google countless hours coming to dead link after dead link in attempt to find a working download for Android Revolutions HD 2.3.2. As far as I'm aware 2.3.2 is the last version that had the capability to overclock the CPU. I tried the later ICS version but found I didn't like the interface nor it's performance on the TF101 in comparison to 2.3.2
Anyone know where I can download 2.3.2? Mike1986 should keep all old roms available for download because unfortunately devices fail.

If you have asked mike already and told you no I doubt anyone else has one... That's why you back up ROMs to the PC and as for keep backups of old files it takes a lot of space and he manages several devices... You can try looking on tablet forums if you haven't check already but that's a older rom ... Your bound to run into problems
Not being rude just saying
Samsung Galaxy S3
AOKP 4.2.2 by Task650
Ktoonz Kernel w/KingBeatz
ASUS TF101
A.R.H.D ICS 3.6
Harmony Kernel w/KingBeatz
If you want to overclock, use 3.5 or 3.6 and run a custom kernel like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693799
Or this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565519
Step 1 Flash it in recovery
Step 2 wipe cache and Davlik
Step 3 Profit
I'll check if I have it on my tablet's microSD, I save all rom downloads... brb
EDIT: Sorry, the earliest version I have is 3.2.1, I recommend using a kernel as Fred suggested^^
Oops.. no delete button :\
Thanks
Thanks to those who replied. Your responses helped me to figure out what to do. I ended up spending much of the day catching up because I couldn't find the Harmony Kernel. I ended up getting aggravated and decided to use RaymondFX JellyBean AOSP 5.1.0 which includes the Harmony Kernel modded for JellyBean. Frederuco thanks for suggesting the Harmony Kernel, that actually got me on the right track to a suitable solution. The instigator of this whole mess, was I couldn't get a Bluetooth keyboard to function with 3.2.3. It'd connect but even after purchasing a high rated bluetooth app, I was unable to type a word with it. Then Google uploader or whatever it was quit functioning, I couldn't upload anything. I figured a reinstall of 3.2.3 would solve but finding it to download turned into a nightmare.
