market wont download after disabling voodoo - Verizon Droid Charge

I used voodoo control plus to disable voodoo lagfix so that I could make a backup of my phone and now the maket starts to download a app and just stops without downloading the app or I should say any app. My phone is using cwm yellow and I rooted it with EE4dxvodo_DXC.tar.md5. Any help would really be appreciated.

fix.apk
I have been reading and did try the market fix.apk, but it still does not work. Does anyone have any ideas?

Reflash.

reflash
reflash the EE4dxvodo_DXC.tar.md5 or yellow cwm or all of it?

Heinz 57 issues

So I downloaded the heinz 57 rom with the steel blue theme. Everything seems to be working, except the home screen transition effects. Like the book flip. I tried flashing a different theme and reflashing the rom. Any ideas?

I noticed that they didn't work when I was using a live wallpaper. When I switched back to a regular one, they worked fine for me.
I found that out as well.

Anytime I use a flashlight app with this rom, the whole thing freezes up and I have to pull the battery.

If you are trying to use the LED as a flashlight try instant heart rate from the market. can't be left on while you multi task and probably is a huge batt drain but works great for both purposes...2ยข

I'm having no issues with my flashlight app. I use Tiny Flashlight
The only issues ive had with Heinz57 is that I cant get the clock on the status bar to change any color but black. And sometimes the market does some weird things, and force closes. So I am having trouble downloading apps/games.
EDIT
I fixed the color issue by restarting my phone after I changed the settings. That worked.
Im still having trouble with the market though. I will try to reflash my phone and see what happens.
Is anyone else having that issue on Heinz57?
my setup
EC10 with root and recovery
CWM 2.5
Heinz57 v4.40.11
OTB Reloaded v 1.3
so far 0 problems whatsoever and its faster than hell. if you dont match this setup. try it. its been literally flawless for me.
i cant get Heinz57 to install. i got the latest update version (5/3/11) and i also completely wiped my phone all the way back to stock (Froyo 2.2) and i have followed directions to a T. but my problem is when i select the zip file to install the ROM from the red recovery it gets to "Installing Update..." and just freezes. the loading bar does nothing and the phone is useless. any suggestions?

My guess is that you aren't waiting long enough. This Rom takes a little longer than most to install.
how long should i be waiting? i can run the EC10 PnP v0.3 ROM with no problems but when i want to switch to ANYTHING else it just stops when it gets to the "Installing Update..." step. it even still has the lines in the loading bar instead of being solid with the download progress. AHHHH! it's driving me crazy! i've been going at it for two days solid now with no luck (although i'm only a noob).
try using the 4/30/11 or wahtever it is. thats what im using and its perfect. the only changes in the new version is he fixed a bug with the MIUI lockscreen i beleive. its basically identical.

You should make sure you're using the latest version of cwm located below, let us know if you still have the issue. I typically flash the .tar in odin (it will replace the existing blue stock recovery so that you don't have to apply any update.zip to get into CWM)

A plus I have noticed is there is no longer a full battery pop-up when charging.

For heinz 57, you require to already have EC10 and the PnP already installed.
So the order i did things in was...
1. EC10 Root and Recovery flashed using odin
2. installed update.zip from blue CWM to get red CWM, , then cwm-recovery-all.zip to keep it red on boot (i think i rebooted once here to make sure i got to red right away alright - no problems)
3. installed mesmerize ec10 .5 pick n pack, from red CWM,
4. then Heinz_57.Hybrid_v4_30_11_OTB.zip installed from cwm red.
hope this helps - i had problems installing heinz 57 until i ready very carefully.
addition: you only need EC10 for heinz, but i could not get just the EC10 root and recovery to work with heinz, so i tried installing the PnP ater the Root and recovery and then heinz installed fine no problems. I am, however having problems with the gps. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067693 for details if you can help - thanks).

just out of curiousity, you are getting the correct rom for your phone, right? as in...the showcase rom for your showcase, the mesmerize rom for your mesmerize...?

er...not exactly.
I've flashed this rom a dozen times, and every kernel available. It works just fine.
Try This.
1: Do a stock (non-rooted) odin flash.
2: Boot your phone, do any account setup, blah blah.
3: Turn Phone off, flash custom recovery-all-fixed
4: Reboot, let fully boot, then turn off, reboot to custom recovery.
5: Install heinz 5/3 (it comes with a kernel, and it's rooted) from zip on sdcard (not update.zip)
6: Reboot, let fully boot, then turn off.
7: Boot to recovery, wipe dalvik and data and then flash your theme.
8: Enjoy.
Make sure you read all the info provided by the devs on their respective threads. If you're applying a ported theme, then read the original thread for that theme.
And remember kids...if you don't know what you're doing, and you have trouble following clearly outlined instructions, and don't check in chat for answers, fail to read guides and tutorials sticked, or are just downright simple...you probably have no business messing with your phone.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Read, alot, ask lots of questions in the right places if you can't find the answers you need from reading. Then post a thread.
And tell 'em J sent ya!

This is something with mrhome. I will add to my op post about it. I didn't know that Livewallpaper work with the transitions.

Needed help with lagfix

I will try to keep this simple. I was on Altered Beast with the peanut butter jelly kernel. I wanted to get the EE4 update. I disabled lagfix, odin back to E1 and accepted the EE4 UPDATE.
I then flashed the new clock work recovery (the yellow one). I was able to get Gummy Rom installed and running. I went to try to enable voodoo lagfix inside clockwork and it won't re-enable. The weird thing is, I'm getting really high quadrant scores like I am lagfixed. I tried deleting the disable lagfiz file inside the Voodoo folder on my SD card. That file is gone now, but I still can't enable voodoo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gummy rom doesn't have a kernel. Flash pb and j kernel with CWM.

My phone says that my kernel is :2.6.32.9 imnuts virtualbox #1. Using the new clockwork mod I still can't enable the voodoo lagfix. It shows as disabled in the clock work menu. Selecting the enable option make it go through the process but doesn't actually change anything.

I had a similar problem (problem with disabling it). If you are checking CWM Recovery and think Voodoo Lagfix is off because your font is yellow, then check ADB if Voodoo is enabled or disabled.
I know enabled, font should be red. Disabled font should be yellow. But I know I have voodoo enabled but my phone in Recovery is still yellow.
So check via adb.
I am guessing from my quadrant scores that I have the lagfix working (1584} but it still says disabled in the clock work menu.

[Q] Gas Screwed My Phone Up?

Hello everyone -
I installed the GAS EC10 PNP based rom through CWM after clearing my Dalvik cache. Now my home screen button doesn't work, my search key doesn't work, and I cannot download anything from the market (just says "starting download").
What should I try next? I can go back to Heinz 57 but I was looking for something FAST and my Task Killer still had me running at <130MB on H57 as installed.
Appreciate it. And check it out: this is my FIRST post EVER!
Happy first post! As for your problem have you tried a reflashed of that rom? Also did you do the prerequisite data wiping? And a note about your task killer and the memory being used....Android leaves applications in the ram even when not in use so they start up faster. That will not make a big difference in the speed of your phone. What will is your kernel, processor speed and what type of file system you are on. (rfs-stock, ext4-voodoo, mtd-latest aosp file system) Have you tried a voodoo kernel with lagfix enabled? Or one of nemesis's kernels that you can overclock?

Thanks for the feedback!
I have now flashed 3 ROM's and I am kind of freaking out because the home softkey and the search softkey no longer work in the ROM's. through CWM, I ran a "keytest" and they all gave me numbers so they did seem to work (whether or not the numbers were correct, I don't know).
Re: your comments on the speed and kernel, etc: I don't know! I followed this newbie guide and in my CWM it says "CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery". Does that imply I have the voodoo kernel? Is the lagfix enabled by default or do I need to do that as well?
ANY help would really be appreciated! I am hoping I don't need to flash back to the USCellular standard and take my phone into the store for service...

That doesn't mean anything necessarily. How the phone is actually running for you is what to pay attention to. RAM numbers can be misleading.

The text doesn't mean anything, they all say Voodoo Lagfix Recovery. To check if lagfix is enable just go to the Voodoo portion of recovery and it should show some text at the bottom saying if lagfix is enabled. And no it is not enabled by default. You would know if it was enabled because the phone will take a good 5 minutes or so to boot up during the initial filesystem conversion and the voodoo lady talks you through the process. You'd know if it happened.

Can't disable voodoo in CWM, what to do?

Hey, I'm having an issue. I followed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122657 to flash my charge with PBJ Kernal (voodoo) and GummyCharged 1.8.5. Like it but I keep receiving notices saying that the android core closed unexpectedly, with several programs receiving the same errors. I decided I want to go back to the stock rom (just for now) but with voodoo still enabled. I plan to follow this guide to go back to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1121201.
My problem is that i seem to be unable to disable voodoo in CWM whenever I try. After each try, I never hear the voice and my quadrant score is still around 1600.
How do I proceed, with my end goal being stock with voodoo enabled?
If CWM recovery is not working for you, try the Voodoo Control App by supercurio. There's a free or paid version.
Once you open the app scroll down to voodoo lagfix and you should see if it's active, then go in to lagfix preferences and uncheck everything and it should deactivate it on next boot.
Thanks
Good to know. I will keep that in mind when I get back to tinkering with the phone. I ended up following a link to another forum where a guide to get back to stock exist. I wiped everything from my phone that I could and went back. I was worried about not being able to disable voodoo, but it seems to have worked just fine. I actually prefer many of touchwiz (crazy, I know) so I decided to go that route. Everything seems to be working fine now, no errors every 5 mins and my quadrant score is back to the 900s . I guess what I want now is to just get voodoo and root on this rom, any recommended posts I should read?
So you basically want a rooted stock rom with voodoo. Yes?
That's exactly what I want.

Any way to root w/o ODIN + wipe?

Before you flame, I did read this and was still a bit confused.
Basically, I've been using my Verizon-ROM'd Charge (with the latest updates) for about a month now. I'm ready to ODIN over to a new ROM (probably the 8/3/11 HumbleComb ROM), but without a one-click root, I'm not sure how I can install/run/backup all my data with TB if I don't have root access.
So right now, I'm looking for any way to root my Charge, backup all the apps/data before I flash a ROM that seems (from my reading) to do a full wipe.
The other problem I'm having is in regards to my wife's Charge. We both came from Vibrants and she had quite a few important apps (with critical data) she'd like to bring over. However, she could care less about going to a rooted/aftermarket ROM. She just wants her old apps to work.
I've searched fellas... I'd really like some help on this. Please throw me a line... even if it's a link to a thread I missed.
Thanks in advance.
Wrong section but just odin this kernel, it doesnt wipe any of your data. Then you can use Titanium Backup or whatever you use to backup your apps. Dont restore system apps unless you want force closes.

Nevermind...

Awesome! I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I appreciate the helps.
**EDIT**
That worked perfectly. Thanks! Backing up everything with TB now in preparation for flash a real ROM.
Mods, please move as necessary.
most roms nowadays will root you when flashed/odined so yeah just back everything up and load up the rom of your choice

Things were going so well, I decided to flash HumbleComb 1.5 using Odin. Now I'm stuck at the Samsung logo. I'm guessing it was because the tool originally recommended here enabled the lagfix. Funny thing is, if I reflash HC 1.5 from Odin, the first thing I get is the recovery screen. Inside the voodoo settings there, it says Voodoo is disabled and not scheduled to be enabled on the next boot (this was after the 2nd flash, though). Voodoo had to be enabled. I got a 1400+ quadrant score...
Gotta read the "fix your phone" thread now. Was too tired to fart around with it last night. At least I got everything backed up.

Wipe everything in recovery (data/cache/dalvik) and then plug into Odin and flash. That works every time for me when it sticks on the Samsung logo...
