can I go back from 3.2 to 3.1? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently updated to 3.2 and I'm not really satisfy with it. Now I would to go back to 3.1.
Can I do it with a rooted xoom 3.2?
If there is an instruction, please let me know.
Thank you

Yes you can. I downgrade my WIFI Xoom today to 3.1 to upgrade to 3.2 OTA mode... (only tried on WIFI XOOM)
You only need 3.1 rom and flash it in fastboot mode.

You can follow this flashing guide...

[Q] Need 3.1 (3G VZW) image for either fastboot or RSDLite?

[Q] quick soft-brick question

Hey guys, thanks very much for helping me out in advance.
I tried to upgrade my US Wifi Xoom from 3.1 (rooted) to 3.2 via the method posted by stachre here.
I made the mistake of putting the update.zip in the xoom's memory instead of the SD card's and updated it with CW Recovery.
I have a quick question as to what I should do next to recover from softbrick. This is I do not quite understand the whole flashing business. I tried following the instructions to flash stock 3.1 here but I didn't do anything about the 3.1 bootloader that it says is required, is that simply the bootloader fix that is in this post?
Should I:
1) flash 3.1 stock image and the bootloader fix? (I'm leaning towards this)
2) can i take advantage of this and just upgrade using the stock 3.2 image? will I need to use the 3.1 bootloader fix?
3) can i flash clockwork recovery via fastboot and then redo the update.zip?
4) is it easiest to flash 3.1 stock, "fastboot oem lock" then OTA and reroot once in 3.2?
What does "fastboot oem lock" really do?
cheers!

Noob here looking for som help with flashing JB

Hello to anyone who offers to help!
First post ever on XDA.
I just installed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893714
Jelly bean release on my TF300T, however, I seem to be stuck in a bootloop.
Stuck in the screen where it says "The Device is unlocked" in the top left corner.
On the thread above I flashed the first out of three options (untouched official latest firmware ;stock kernel ;su & Superuser for root access !).
I did wipe both cache and dalvik before flashing with TWRP.
Any help is appreciated

Were you already running jb before you flashed the ROM? If not, get the latest ICS release from Asus and flash that, then upgrade to jb. If you were already on jb, flash that again via twrp, then see if it boots fine, if it does, then begin your root process again.

All the ROMs that are available right now for JellyBean require that you are already on the JB bootloader. If you are NOT on the official (OTA) JB update, then I suggest you read up on NVFlash before you do cause you can't go back to the ICS bootloader once you update to the official JB firmware 10.4.2.9 or .13.

[Q] Best option for root

Its good to join a new forum!
Ive decided too take one of tf300s home from work to help feed my root hunger (also running cm10.1 on htc evo 4g lte)
This tablet is currently running 4.0.3
Assuming i will be walking the custom ROM road, should I leave tablet at 4.0.3 or upgrade to JB? I won't have my p c to perform fastboot until next week, this is why i ask.
Thanks in advance

I would suggest moving up to JB. I've been using CM 10.1 (which is running 4.2.1) on my TF300T and it's been great. The UI and options are better on JB than on ICS, even though ICS was a pretty great step up.

I also just got my tablet now and I'm holding the firmware update while reading, what do you advice? push to OTA or unlock, root, then custom rom? I thought I saw few others having problem with JB is that OTA JB? That's why I'm not pushing any OTA updates for now.
Thanks in advance!

1st solution (That I've made)
Don't update to JB now.
Rooted and unlock in ICS
Backup your root with OTA Rootkeeper
and after JB update by OTA and restore your root with OTA ROOTKEEPER.
2nd Solution:
Or unlock and root your TF and use the NVFLASH tool (with pre-JB bootloader)
3rd solution:
Go on OTA JB Update
Unlock your TF
and use this guide : [ROOT/ROM] Root Stock/Deodex Firmware 10.4.2.20 (US/WW) | Insecure kernel ! when you are on the version of firmware
Go to my index and you will find all the links that you need

Thanks for your help here's what I did:
-Unlocked using APK
-did NVFLASH tool
-flash CWM
-root
-install OTA Rootkeeper
Now I want to install hydro and I know I have to be in JB boot loader the only question for me now to be able to proceed is:
-Install the pending OTA JB update (I dont know if this will proceed installing since it was downloaded while Im stock, I'm afraid it will brick my device since Im now unlocked, nvflash, rooted)
OR
-Just DL latest from ASUS (ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T Firmware: V10.4.2.20 Only for US SKU (Android 4.1)) Can I just install the latest or I need to install pre requisite update first?
THEN
-Install compatible recovery for JB
-Install custom rom

It's really easy now that you're unlocked, rooted and used NVFlash.
I suppose you're still in ICS.
Backup somewhere all of your files (stock rom, nvflash file etc...) use Titanium backup for save & restore your apps later
You can use both process for update your TF
The OTA update, and every time, you are going to have to restore your root.

[Q] Downgrade Android ROM from 3.2 to 3.1

Hi,
I need to downgrade my tf101's ROM from 3.2 to 3.1.
Can someone link a detailed wiki?
Do I have to unroot the tablet?
Also, is it possible to boot ubuntu on a tf101 with android 3.2 ROM?
Thanks in advance.
What do you need to downgrade to 3.1 for ?

Agreed, why go to 3.1? I am on 4.3.1 and it is SOOOO much better than HC ever was.
You can, just use a custom recovery to flash the stock firmware. It will wipe your tablet and put you 100% stock on Honeycomb. Re-root using NVFlash if you need root.
