i can't get Gmail to launch from the Gmail widget. When I tap a message the screen dims and nothing happens. I tap the screen a second time and the screen comes back. I just updated to 3.2. It worked fine under 3.1.

Not sure what that is, I had the same issue with the browser. After trying to do a search from the browsers address bar I was getting that same dim screen. It stopped after I did the about:debug trick on the browser. Try removing and re-adding the widget.
I gave up and factory reset the Xoom. Now everything works.

Android 2.1 on Nexus One, T-Mobile
I know the QuickDesk developer is Faruq Rasid, but I cannot find an email address for him, only his blog and twitter feed.
I have downloaded and installed QuickDesk and now I cannot access anything on my phone. My desktop screen is gone and replaced by a black screen with online one icon (as I was adding icons to the application screen). I have no access to apps or shortcuts.
I only have access to the notifications bar, which I can use to access my Apps Killer application -- I have tried several times to kill QuickDesk and it will not die -- my screen remains black. After several tries I am given a window that says that QuickDesk is not working -- so I try to force close the application and nothing happens.
I have restarted the phone several times and once I swipe past the security screen, I am immediately given a black, blank screen.
If anyone can help me, please tell me what other information I can provide. Thank you so much.

If you are facing difficulties setting up QuickDesk on your phone, here a guide for you, http://droidbar.net/2010/09/quickdesk-setup-guide/
Alternatively, you can post a comment on Faruq's blog to raise it as an issue if the situation persist.
Alright I think I'm stuck for once. Facebook calendar notification of birthdays will not go away from the lock screen. I cannot uninstall facebook or freeze the program because it wont let me without root and TB. I've changed all my facebook settings and friend stream to not sync calendar and done a couple of reboots. These events wont show up in my calendar now either google or phone sense calendar anymore but im still stuck with the popup on lockscreen. Even when i drag the notification to the ring it brings me to calendar and the event doesnt exist anymore according to it.
Is there a way to get rid of this short of factory reset/root TB and freeze. My beautiful lockscreen is made ugly with this and would like to find a solution. Thanks in advance.
Hey, I had the same problem. What i did to fix it was to go into calendar and untick everything except the calendars I wanted. I also went to the lockscreen settings and chose them. After that, just restart and you should be good to go
i will give it a shot and report back.
edit: it was the lockscreen settings under personalize that did it for me... thanks again still getting used to sense coming from touchwiz.
I'm just confirming that there is no option or tweak to get the default mail app to display a number of unread messages. I'm often bombarded with notifications so I clear all but it would be nice to see a count of emails I have not read. I believe my old email app had this feature.
I also wish the phone did not default to the lock screen every time the screen is shut off. I know this was an option on my SG3.
Otherwise this phone is still amazing...

By default mail app do you mean the GMail or the other one labeled as "mail"? I use the Mail one for work emails and I think it tells me in the app drawer how many I have unread. Gmail tells me within the app how many I have unread.
As far as the lock screen...do you not want it lock instantly when you turn the screen off? Like say you turn off the screen and 5 seconds later you need to get in but don't wanna see the lock screen?

I believe that's a function of the launcher you use, not the mail app itself. I know Nova supports displaying unread counts as an option with an add-on.
For the lock screen, you can choose in Security Settings if you want it to go to the lock screen, or the challenge/pin/pattern screen. The option is "Bypass lock screen on wake".

Correct, the "mail" app ie Outlook or whatever you have setup. If the email is cleared out as a notification yes going into the app displays the amount of unread mail. I was wondering if something similar to the link below is possible.

I do not want it to do anything if it is within the specified time which is one hour. For example if the screen is shut off and within an hour turned back on it will simply activate the screen it was on, it will not load the lock screen. This was an option on my GS3

Confirmed this is and was checked, yet I still hit the lock screen every time the phone is woken. Perhaps a group policy bug?

Well, I know that used to work a few days ago (or at the very least it used to work to bypass the lock screen and go to the pattern screen), but it's not anymore. I even tried a couple different combinations of the "Lock screen after..." and "Bypass lock screen on wake" options, but I kept seeing the lock screen regardless of what options I had set.
However, when I had it working I was on stock, and now I'm on Skyfall, so that may have something to do with it.

I do not think my bypass has ever actually bypassed the lock screen! Can anyone confirm?

Can someone explain how on earth the notification sidebar works?
It always says no notifications on there. I see the weather, a little checkbox and the word no notifications
I have few missed notifications checked such as caller name ID, email, fitbit, gmail, hangouts, google inbox, instagram, google messenger (texting), phone, snapchat and whatsapp.
Whenever I get something from these nothing ever shows up on there. I do see them scroll on the main sidebar when it scrolls.
Any help gents? I just don't get it.

Try to restart the phone... I had the same issue a couple of times and, after restarting, the bar came back to work properly. It should be an annoying bug
Could be you already seen or cleared your notifications panel.

A restart fixed it. Guess it froze...
Same thing with CNN. it locks up... I took it off, but a restart would fix it I bet.
Don't know how else to put it...
I noticed that if I double-tap the gmail notification on the AOD, I will be taken directly into the email message but the gmail notification does not clear/get dismissed if I just hit the home button. It will dismiss if I hit the back button within the gmail app and go back to the inbox.
However, when I receive 2+ gmails, the notification works properly and dismisses immediately when the app is launched from the AOD notification shortcut.
I thought it was just my phone but I tested it out on my wife's S8+ as well and the same issue <-- she hadn't noticed since she didn't know the AOD notifications were shortcuts...she thought they were redundant notifications so she would just click on the notification through the shade and enter the app (which works correctly and dispatches the gmail notification promptly).
This only occurs when you receive ONE (1) email and enter the gmail app thru the AOD notification. <-- I guess it's a bug (or does Samsung intend to say it's a feature????). Being kinda OCD, it bugs me. But I had to make sure since I just performed a factory reset as my gmail app was crashing on me all day and only a factory reset cured it (yes, I tried force disable, clear cache, clear delete from both the gmail app & google play services; remove account and add my gmail account back; nothing worked except for a full system factory restore and then a manual set up)...<--Ahh, I miss being able to TWRP, use Titanium Backup and do whatever the hell I wanted with my Nexus 5 (and the only reason I had to let it go was that it won't hold a charge for more than 4 - 6 hours tops now).
Roll call and let me know if you guys are facing the same issue. I'd like Samsung to fix it since I don't face this issue on my Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 tablet.
Thanks!
