4G LTE Upgrade Affect data plan? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When the Verizon Xoom (eventully) gets the 4G LTE Upgrade, do we have to change our plan? Or do the current plans allow us to use 4G LTE? I can see Verizon being greedy and force us to pay more to use their LTE network.

Well I had ATT and I left because of the lack of android phones. I went to sprint and found I had no signal at my house. So I used the prl hack do I could run on Verizon towers at sprints price and their phones. Just my 2 pennies. Plus you get real 4G.

G2x on family talk?

My fiance pays 45 bucks a month for family talk through her walmart employer discount. My question is since it is tmobile can I use my g2x on it? And if so can I use my 4g? Would I have to unlock it? I just don't like how my tmobile prepaid only gets 100mb of data in my price range.
I do. I have the 5g plan. My wife has the 2g plan. We got seperate plans cause I wireless tether. We use the G2x. So yeah, you can.

??
I think I'm going with simple mobile, they use hspa, and so doesn't the g2x, but it days I can only get 2g and 3g with my phone??
The G2x does too. I'm on it now. The G2x doesn't do 3g. It has g,2g or 4g. But 4g is really 3.5

Can you elaborate?
You can change you settings to only use hspa.

I'm sorry, I'm so confused and lost lol
Unless you change the setting under wireless networks...mobile network...network mode... You can change it there. I always change mine to auto when I travel. That way it will chose the strongest signal.

This is an lg g2x using either family talk or simple mobile, and able to use a 4g signal?
Yes but to use Simple mobile, you have to be network unlocked. Which you would get that from TMO customer care. They will e-mail it to you.

If you have 4g in your area, you can get it. Go under the settings I posted and swith to only wcdma. If you have 4g near you, it will display it on status bar at top.

The G2x will not display a 3G status signal. It will show a 4G, 2G, G.
Good luck with your droid. I'm on the $70 plan...5g data, unlimited talk and txt. So I know it will work.

Strange thing is its displaying 4g now, but its slow as hell. But I can take it as is now on my Tmobile service and switch the box to wcdma only? And that'll work?
Yes if there is 4G. That setting will stay on that signal til you change it.

[Q] Quick Question...

I found a GS3 on craigslist for $175 and was thinking about snatching it. The phone was originally AT&T but it is factory unlocked. Will this work just fine on Verizon and will I still be able to get the same 4G LTE?
No, the hardware isn't there for that as far as data goes.

So basically no other carriers GS3 would be suitable for Verizon other than a Verizon GS3? Or is there another carriers GS3 that is suitable for Verizon's 4G LTE?

The phone should work if it is unlocked, however, data will be slow. Also, not sure how the new law affects it.....

AT&T runs on the gsm network. Verizon runs a CDMA network. Gotta have radios that can talk to the network....

The new law doesn't affect any phones that are factory unlocked.

I have been using it on AIO wireless with AT&T apns to help with data speed. Not a single problem to report and I get 3G+ everywhere.

[Q] gsm to 4g?

I have a AT&T Samsung Galaxy s2 i777. But I have it with Walmart Family Mobile service which doesnt offer 3g/4g. Its Gsm unlocked and I don't pay for 4g. So if I want to use internet, either I use my regular network, or I have to use a local unlocked wifi. Is there any way to force unlock, or somehow use my 4g? My phone is rooted if that helps.
If you don't get 4G from your carrier. You can't hack service.
