Best Rom for the charge? - Verizon Droid Charge

Hello, I am coming from a fascinate to the droid charge. I have a few themes I will be porting and was wondering what the best rom for me to port to is. Been awhile since I wasnt sure which rom to use. Thanks in advance. GoS

I use gummy charged 1.5

Lurking around, the first ROM I'm flashing will be danalo1979's Humble Froyo ROM
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

GummyCHARGED 1.5 is the current king-o-the-hill, IMHO.

Themes? GummyCharged. General use/battery performance? Humble.

I am totally diggin the Humble froyo ROM

Might as well concentrate your efforts on EP1F GB roms.
Glad to see you here from the Fascinate forums.

Personal opinion, humble 2.1 (ep1f) and really happy with battery life! Netflix, skype, etc...

I previously used Gummycharged 1.8.5(used it from June 28-July 15) and just recently switched to Humble 1.35 and believe me when I say it's a HUGE difference! Humble is absolutely incredible, the battery life is phenomenal and the transitions are much better then the non apparent ones on GC. Another plus for Humble is it receives updates almost daily and updating is very simple if you are already on a previous version of Humble(just install .zip from SD card in CWM).
So, best ROM? Well, I've only tried GC and Humble but seriously, Humble is probably the best lol.

give altered beast a try. i know it isn't really being updated anymore but its incredibly stable so updating isn't really an issue. i used gummy for a few days and it would randomly reboot at least once a day so i dropped it for stock debloated EP1F which is what i am currently on and i LOVE IT.

I've tried every ROM and build of Froyo and GB to date. At the end of the day I keep going back to Eclipse. Has better signal strength, no reboot issues the theme/look is done fully threwout the ROM, and battery life is awesome on it.

Yeah Nitro's EF roms were pretty stable. As far as signal goes, im not sure why you would get different signal strengths. You Radio shouldnt be changing from one rom to another, unless these are odin pkgd roms that include different radios. I can see im gonna have to do alot more research on this device. Oh well, how do you like thr droid Charge in general?

Best Gingerbread Rom to date? Noob edition..

Looking to flash a gingerbread rom, can anyone chime in on their latest experiences? I'm sure this is asked a lot, but given the issues with this handset, I'd like to see what advancements have beeen made. Looking for good battery life and stability. (yeah, we all are!)
Currently running eagles blood 1.03.
I think the best rom is faux Aosp 1.20. Its stable and super fast but like all other gingerbread roms the battery is still wonky. You should still give it a shot though.

+1 ^^^^^ fauxs
how's the battery life? just flashed eagles blood gingerbread and dropped 15% in an hour of little use.
Battery life is good...battery drivers on the other hand are bad....as they are in all GB roms currently.
I am on bionix and its awesome

Faux rom is definitely epic. The but im looking out for krylon's bionix rc2

Froyo ROMS - Humble VS GumnyCharged

Hey guys I'm proud to say j just got a Droid charge. I'm loving it. But I'm wondering which froyo rom is the better one, humble, or gummycharged. On this I mean based on the performance, battery life, and ui. Please help me out here guys! Thanks in advance
Sincerely,
The new proud owner of a Droid charge: D
Humble for battery life. Gummy for features. Try both.

Grats on your new Charge! I can guarantee you'll be satisfied :]
To put it short, Humble has better battery life, great animations(like moving from page to page), great speed with no hints of lag(pretty much the same as GC in this department), UI is exactly the same(which is a stock GB look, the only difference is Humble has a better battery indicator from the start), it doesn't randomly reboot like GC did for me(and plenty of other people) and it's updated MUCH more then GC is.
Humble clearly wins this fight, I had GC for a few weeks and I think Humble suits me much more.

I found Humble's animations extremely annoying, FWIW, and since personal preferences win in the end you'd probably be best off trying both and just going with the one you like.
I'd also definitely suggest you try Eclipse, which is what I settled on myself. It's a fantastic ROM all-around (which is what I expected from Nitro after his great work on the Fascinate). And it has a very nice custom theme to boot.
Any battery life advantage humble has is due to imnuts kernel being packaged in...if you flash that kernel with gc you would get virtually identical batt life I'm sure
99% percent of battery life differences are always going to be kernel related...the rest of framework changes or tweaks that claim to do that are generally placebo at best
I have a somewhat related question. Does the black themed Gtalk in GC's rom make a difference in battery life? I really like it but I would like to try Humble's rom.

Im not 100% sure but I doubt it matters all that much. Try it out for yourself and see if you like it. After all thats why we have choices right? Everyone likes something a bit different
I have not used GC, But I see no point as I love Humble. It is fantastic.
also doesnt humble use a significant amount of frameworks/apks from gc?
Yeah when i'm back I'll flash humble and see how it goes. I only ask about the black themed Gtalk because i use Gtalk a lot. But I'll let you guys know

Pretty much it is imnuts' debloated rom with some GC frameworks/apks.
My observation so far after trying both on both froyo and gingerbread
For Froyo = I enjoyed Humble the best
For Gingerbread = I enjoyed Gummy the best
For now I am sticking with Gingerbread. Everything just feels faster.

eh...so it uses the good stuff from gc
So does gummy charged beat both?

Recommend a rom for me please

Ok, I want speed and stability, I like tw but can live without it, I like the stock notification bar. Ive looked at several roms and cant decide. I am not afraid of gingerbread... Thanks again
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Try out the TW4 for froyo. its the eclipse 1.3.1 i just got it awhile ago and its fast and buttery smooth! has great battery life as well. looks sick too
I'm on Humble 1.42 and have 0 problems. It runs circles around the old Fascinate.
Having tried both gummycharged and humble I can confidently say humble wins that fight but if I were you I would highly suggest checking out eclipse, that recent update is really intriguing and I'm going to be checking it out myself very soon nitroglycerin (eclipse) does some great work

New to thunderbolt

Getting a thunderbolt. Is it less of a dud then it was made out to be?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Depends on who you ask. I personally love this phone. With the Rom kernel radio combo and a little tweaking, the battery life is awesome, and I've never had any hardware problems.

what rom kernel and radio are you using?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
best phone i have ever had. came from a dinc. at first it is huge. now the dinc is tiny and my Tbolt is perfect. and the battery life is comprable. if you govern the wifi and the mobile radios it isn't bad. you made a great choice with the bolt. we have miui now and soon to have some ishe-cream sandwich. these are exciting times.
not really interested in miui. more so with aosp.

Use the latest radio 1.48.00.0609w_1, 0.01.76.0609w_2.
Sense or aosp, I suggest imoyesons leankernel or jdkoreclipes kernel. They both make sense and aosp kernels and both are top notch.

Love mine, though I have very poor GPS performance and so-so battery life when I first got it in the April timeframe. Since then, the various ROMs have improved it to the point that I don't even care what's coming out now. I'm running BAMF SoaB 1.03 with the latest radio and it's great.

Soab is an awesome Rom. It's what inspired me to port stock runnymede.

I came from a Droid X and can say that the Thunderbolt is a better phone. I have a few annoyances with it but mainly how it works or doesn't work with Ford Sync. The battery is depressing but I don't want the bulky extended battery. I have Juice Defender on it now and that has helped immensely through the day. I had 54% left on my battery after 8 hours at work with light usage. Before that I was at below 30% after 4 hours. I may still get an extended battery just for when I travel, but this works for me around town.
where would I find soab? Looked everywhere
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Google it. You need to go on a BAMF forum. I dont think they post here.
oh, thats what I tried. Ill google it again
in short, what setup would provide best battery life based off experience amongst thunderbolt users?
Start with the SOAB with the stock kernel, so that you have a baseline then you can try Adr's test 3 or Imo's kernel to see if they make much a difference or not.
I don't think you will get a definitive answer without trying each out on your own phone and objectively seeing which one works best for you and your particular phone.
Good luck.
I agree. Ive been around android for three years and what works best for me does not for everyone else. I was looking for an experienced based answer. The bolt I bought already has soab on it.
Gotcha. I'm using SOAB with Adr's test 3 kernel. Works great for me because I can overclock now, but battery life is about the same as it was with the stock package SOAB kernel.
I've been getting great battery life on SoaB, starting with 1.02 and now on 1.03 since it was released and the kernel that comes with it. Prior to that I was using Eaton GTP, the Froyo build, and it gets phenomenal battery life. Can't wait for them to get their Gingerbread build with Sense 3.5.

They post all of their stuff on teambamf.net, and also tend to post on RootzWiki.

if you want insane battery life on soab flash the ziggy kernel beta one and set cpu low to the lowest setting andturn off gps and wifi and mobile antennas when not using them. i was getting 2% drop per hour this way. i went from 8 am to 8:30 pm with no charging and still had 72% battery life left also i overclocked to 1.2.
right now i am on miui wich is sick once they fix the mms it will be amazing. but i am using advanced task killer set to automatically kill apps when the screen turns off and green battery to do the same with the wifi and mobile anteannas.

Smoothest basic ROM?

My dad just bought the wind mobile version of this phone. What is a smooth basic ROM you guys would recommend for him? he doesn't need anything fancy
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I like weapon but you could always start with the basic rooted stock rom and go from there.
I suggest eaglebloods latest rom, which can be found in the development section of the g2x. It is extremely smooth and stable. I would also use faux123 4.6 kernel with that rom.

Must try Tsugi. It is a pretty basic rom but is blazing fast and reliable. It has never crashed on me as long as I have been running it. Can't say enough good things about it.

I've heard great things about Tsugi! So +1. I've tried Weapons, wasn't my cup of tea. Froze quite alot in the early builds.

Really? This poor horse...
I use Weapon 3 which is based on stock Android 2.3.3 with Faux123-0.1.3 recompiled kernel. It has very good battery life, is fast, and very stable.
Galnet MIUI, it really is impressive
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
After trying both Tsugi and Weapon, I personally prefer Tsugi. It seems to work slightly better for me, and I overall seem to have fewer issues. The LG Camera also seems to work slightly better on it although I can't point to any definitive area, other than the fact it has a panorama mode (which only sort of works).
Weapon is great if you want to run Touchwiz, which I find makes more sense to people who don't know what they're doing. Another big deal is that Tsugi doesn't have the shutdown issue where when the phone runs out of battery instead of turning off the screen just goes black and drains the battery more. This may or may not cause damage to the battery, but it's not worth the risk.
Just my two cents
i would say eagle
Jboxer's 2.3.4 LG Colorized is what I settled on after trying pretty much every current ROM.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
I would say leave it alone. usually the one originally on there is the safest and most stable. I have installed the latest nightly build 201 from cm. Its for me and I know what to do if something is wrong.
My wife's android phones I always kept at stock for her so whenever there is an issue its easier to fix.
Just stay stock bud and your dad should be fine ok?
Miui.us is Da best so far with trinity kernel, axura, then tsugi? There's a mess of them? Lol
