Hey guys!
Yesterday I rooted my Charge Using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122657
Used the CWR and Peanut Butter Jelly Time Kernal (non over clocking one)
I then used Titanium Back Up Pro to freeze the following apps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082588 - First Post
I also have setcpu installed, root explore, battery calibration and system monitor.
Today ... the phone restarted out of no where and now the messaging app wont launch. It just gives me the following error:
"process com.android.mms has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas of what I should do?
Cheers!
Ok now Gmail stopped as well
Ok guys ...
Tried some stuff...
Removed all programs I installed, also un froze all the bloatware. Restarted and still no luck.
I then re flashed the kernal and no luck and then flashed the over clock one and still no luck. At this point Im ready to do a full restore back to non-rooted
Anyone have any input before I do this?
USING Whatever rom you used to ROOT.
Reboot into recovery after unfreezing all apps. There's a batch for that.
Fix Permissions.
Clear Cache.
Reflash the rom you used to ROOT with.
Will replace the corrupted file assuming there is one since you did not say specifically what you froze.
Just a note: Most of that stuff that you guys are freezing, you don't have to. It does not run unless you call on it to run. Some of the stuff (I.E. My Files which is your file explorer) you don't want to freeze.
Thanks for the reply.
I pretty much did that last night but when I tried to do the Fix Permissions it asked me what size .... it was really weird.
I ended up doing a factory reset / data wipe as well as the rest and its working great now, only dumb thing on my part was I forgot to do a back up with Ti-Pro first so I had to reinstall everything (app wise).

alright so i installed ryanza OCLF from the market. and had no problems with it. today i decided to factory reset my phone, just because i felt like my phone was getting cluttered. and i wanted to start anew anyway. so i factory reset the phone from the settings. and after the phone was done rebooting, i went to install the lag fix again. i rooted the phone and reboot. then i went to install the actual lag fix v1. it was marked in red and would not let me install it. it said u need to install the ext2 files blah blah. so i did that. and when the option to install the lag fix was still in red, i clicked on it and it said. there was already a lag fix installed. somewhere in the playlogos1 file. so what do i do now, can i delete the playlogos1 file? and take in mind that i rooted and installed the ext2 thing all from the OCLF app in the market. please help. thanks guys
I have the exact same problem.Did you solve it?
Same here.
Same here.
Ended up restoring from a nandroid backup I made immediately after I had installed the OCLF. Removed the lag fix. Now, OCLF allows me to remove the fix and the EXT2 tools.
I ended up clicking the restore animation and voila! The similar problem I experienced was solved.

What did this fix for you specifically? I tried this, and it still told me I had a lagfix installed, when I really didn't.
Has anyone else been able to rectify this without restoring?
Same her. Had to flash with odin
Is it just me? The OCLF has disappeared from the market.
I have to thank RyanZA here for providing that app. It make rooting my Captivate so easy.
So, I purchased my Samsung Galaxy S (Captivate) last weekend. I had it rooted and everything was fine. Then I got rid of some of the bloatware. I wrote a couple of programs for myself to use, so I needed to enable side-loading. I did that-successfully.
First sign of a problem was when I went to the marketplace and it would not download any single app that I tried. So, I went to restore the phone using the backup I made, but some reason it wasn't there.
Then I decided to revert to factory settings. I did a hard reset, but the problem was still not resolved. Then I found a thread on here about Odin 3. I've been trying to use that all night but the best I've gotten is to the File Analysis step. I've tried at least 10 different times.
I'm trying to get everything back up and running and preferably rooted again so that I can use my Titanium backup to restore all my apps and settings.
I'm at my wits end, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Factory reset would not solve any problems that may have been caused by deleting core apps. Is your phone rooted and nand unlocked (baseband) or just rooted? Are you running a custom rom? If so you need to reflash the rom after clearing cache and dalvik cache. If you still have the original rom then you can reflash an official samsung firmware using odin, look for your handsets firmware on www.samfirmwares.com
Other than that you could try finding out which apps are needed and using root explorer you may be able to fix the version you have. If the market is your only issue then try clearing data and cache settings/manage apps/market and download manager (two different apps)
How did you root your phone? Did you install a custom ROM yet? What bloatware did you remove, and how did you go about it?
Ok. In the wee hours this morning I finally got Odin to work and now everything works as it should. I switched computers and the program worked right away. Intersting tidbit though, I accidentally left the sim card in during the reflash and I had no ill effects. I'm actually wondering if that helped me.
Thanks tina333.
nenol, I used the one touch root. I have not installed a custom rom and I don't remember exactly which of the programs I uninstalled. I used Titanium backup to both backup my apps and to delete the bloatware.
There are very few system apps that are not needed by the system, titanium only backs up data by default. Be careful what you delete and always research first
New to android here
Rooted phone cause of battery life
I have AntTek App Manager
Watchdog Lite
and other cool/fun apps
Now, I did an update on my apps the other day and looked at all the apps that are currently running (got obsessed with killing apps so i can extend my battery life).
All these new things were running (didnt want to touch them until I googled them).
I froze FlexProvider 1.0.0 which wasnt a good idea. Rebooted the phone and still not functioning the way it used to... Click on browser and I have to force close it. I defrosted FlexProvider and browser still isnt working... another kicker, Im getting no data connection as well on tmo. I connect WiFi and I get everything, except browser.....
Now, before I do a factory reset... is there a way to fix this before I do that drastic route (that is if that would work). Secondly, i use shopsavvy and I dont want to lose the things I scanned and saved. I've been lookin online wondering where that gets saved JUST in case the phone has to be brought back to OEM...
Any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated....
thank you
forgot to mention... when i reboot the phone, in the beginning upon boot up com.lge.omadmclient has stopped exptedly comes up when you unlock the phone
Thaw the apps you froze and it may recover just fine. FlexProvider is required to transfer data to and from the device, hence the browser FC and no data connection.
U should be fine but you shouldve done some research on this forum before just freezing apps

Done that, still no go. Researched app before I froze but did not see anything about it doing this (saw a post about it outside of this site, sorry).
Any other suggestions? Would you guys know where shopsavvy saves the scanned images
Not too good at troubleshooting here. The only help I can give at this point is to flash ClockworkMod and restore the rooted stock nandroid image in the development section.

Unless there is a ROM there (not image). Then you could simply flash over it. I would format /system before you do that if you can find one (plus wipe cache and dalvek).
thank you all
I have decided to factory wipe it. Too scared to go through all of that and possibly brick the phone..
I want to thank you all for your input though...
so I've got a bit of an odd ball with the ICS update
I've always run the stock rom.
used the HTC unlock tool to unlock the bootloader
not sure if any of that means I'm s-off...
but...aside from freezing a few apps here and there, I didn't like having adobe reader installed, and as a system app..
so used titanium backup to convert it to a user app and then uninstalled it...
now...when I try to do the ICS update...seems to be going through the process...downloads, reboots...green bar gets about 20% and then I get the red triangle with exclamation.
when I do the key combo for recovery, it gives me some error about
assert failed apply patch check adobe reader
tried reinstalling reader from market...and opens fine..though update still fails same way.
use titanium to convert it back to system app...and it will FC every time I try to launch it...and the ICS update still fails same way.
is there some special acrobat reader they use?
help would be appreciated, as I'm pretty much stuck.
can post the entire error if needed.
finally
well.. disregard I guess
found the RUU for the stock 2.3.4
after spending some time extacting all the files from it, digging into the system.img and finding the adobe reader.apk that was in there, I installed it back on my phone and used titanium to change it back to a system app.
this time, fortunately, the program didn't FC when I launched.
unfortunatly, the update still failed at the exact same place.
so despite my nerves, I just ran the RUU and let it reset the device completely back to stock.
that did the trick, and after it was up and running, the ICS update downloaded and installed fine.
not sure if this'll help anyone else, but I think it would still be interesting to know if there's a way restore these system apps if you rip them off.
I found one motorola related forum talking about the same thing, and mentioning that titanium backup really doesn't backup all the system files correctly so as to let you fully restore them.
ho hum...
I just purchased a p509 as a backup phone and figured I could easily root it and flash a better ROM on it. I am not new to the whole flashing process. I've had no problems doing all this on three other phones (LG G2x, Galaxy Centura, and a Galaxy S 4G).
I rooted it using Gingerbreak. Seemed to go ok. My first problem was having error messages using Astro File Manager. I then got a little carried away with Titanium Backup and deleted the LG Home launcher and probably something else I shouldn't have. I of course then had no home screen. I used Gmail to send the APK to myself and install it. I then had my home screen, but I still got error messages every time I hit the home button.
I then installed ROM manager to try and get a recovery on the phone and wipe out all my issues with a new ROM. It gets to 100% installing CWM and then I get a Superuser error message. If I try and fix permissions I get the same thing.
Any advice? The only factory restore help i can find is the basic hard reset stuff.
Every time something needs Superuser, SU gives me a FC. I can't even install Busybox. Is there no way to return this phone to the way it came from the factory?
Ok so I seem to have SU working now. But Busybox still won't install...
Well even though no one cares to help (not surprised on XDA) I want to add some info. I have tried flashing a recovery two different ways through terminal emulator with no luck. My current status is using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003080
I'm trying to type in "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img" and getting a not enough memory message. This is becoming the most pain in the ass thing i have ever tried to do. I would love to just have it back to the way I received it with all the stock apps and games and not having to email myself the LG Home launcher every time I reset it. Any insight would be appreciated.
the problem is that rom manager is not compatible anymore with O1(if you managed to install recovery do not boot into it from rommanager, use combo keys), so read this post to install recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827723 (to go in fastboot try to use quickboot from playstore), search forum for flashable recovery thread for O1,
or, to make it stock just flash an oldbb GB rom 2.2 and use LG support tool from LG site and update to latest version available, worked for me
Thank you very much. I actually just solved the problem with this guide:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318750 and running GingerDX.
Good to know how to get it back to stock though. I swear I searched and got nothing but "Hard reset" results.
