Android 3G unrestrictor / WiFi spoof - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hey guys what's going on? I was curious if anyone here know why no unrestricted 3g type app exists for android? I would imagine something like this would be doable with root but I havent yet found anyone whose made this. I would find it extremely useful to play certain games over 4G and things to that extent. I'm willing to look into developing this myself if there's no strong reasoning I've overlooked as to why it can't be done.
Thanks

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

i think there is still nothing like this. if someone can create this, i'll be the 1st customer.

I'd be willing to consider developing it but to be honest I dot know where to start. Root apps seem confusing to make. I've coded enough where it should be double but Id rather not spend so much time. Anyone on here wanna start. Project with me?

No...but I do wanna drink some bleach with you LOL,I mix mine with grape kool aid

wondering is somebody knows if there is an app made yet to trick the device into wifi

Anything new on this? I'm looking for the same thing

Can be done, checkout Fake Wifi Connection.

looking for an app dev

hey guys im trying to find someone to create an app, I have no idea how complicated it would be to do it but I am looking for an app simialer to strobox for the iphone. if I was smarter I might be able to understand the code so I could make it myself but I have bought and read several books on how to do it and just dont get it. if anyone wants or can help let me know.
I too have been craving this app since I got an android phone. This is way beyond my experience, but if someone makes it, I'll buy it.
it woldn't be OVERLY complicated...
This would be complicated for me, just because I don't have a clue what the hell it does even after looking at the website.
Not saying I can write it, looks like it would take a good bit of dev time.
Couple of weeks for anything work able.

It is an application for photographers that allows you to create lighting diagrams of strobe and camera placement in a scene for reference.

Well, If you find someone that could tackle the UI, I could work in the rules for you. I just wouldn't have a clue about what rules to use unless I was given them by someone who knows. That's over my head.

UI design or coding? I definitely couldn't do the coding, but the design maybe.
Oh yeah, the Strobox app is under a creative commons license, so the UI could probably be used as longs the the app stays under creative commons. Which, would probably restrict the app from being sold.
yes the dev put it under CC because she wanted to make sure that it was a free app that being said I would be more than happy to "DONATE" to anyone that could do this, and would be more than happy to help with the graphics aspect of it if someone can code it. The code is WAY over my head.
@bernard_photography: its nice to see someone else intrested in this. I have been trying to find a way to get ahold of the dev of strobox since I got my hero. I use speedlights a lot and it was a life saver for repeateability on location.
and the thing about it is that yeah you would have to make it a free app but if you where really looking to get into app dev this could really get your name out there just like it did for the strobox dev. I mean as soon as she released it it was all over ALL of the major photography blogs.
I'm in contact with the dev now to see what I can work out.

Saweet. I hope this comes together. My wife just got an iPod touch and the app is pretty sick.
Have you guys looked at this:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/discuss/72157624143703396/
Search "Photo Studio Buddy" in the market or scan his QR Code.
Wow, that saved me a lot of work! LOL.
The dev of StroBox pointed it out to me. She wasn't very willing to share her source...iPhone users...go figure.
Thanks, that works pretty well. It could use some work, but it is a start for sure. I appreciate your help.

Someone PLEASE upload Blackboard APK

*Crap- I posted this in the wrong section... Can an admin please move this to general
I am a Verizon user, and from what I hear, only sprint users are privy to the new Blackboard Mobile app on the market... I didn't even know that Google differentiated between providers as to what they are allowed to download until today... Anyhow, if someone could upload the Blackboard Mobile apk, I would greatly appreciate it. I know other Verizon users are also looking for this and I'll gladly share it with them also.
If you don't know what Blackboard Mobile is, it's an online classroom environment used by universities so students can see assignments, download notes, and upload homework - The app is free to download, but is, for whatever the reason, restricted to Sprint users only.
Thanks for your help!

I found my school on it... they haven't enabled the mobile part of BB... ghetto.

Thanks for the upload! But the program itself is still restricted to sprint phones... The apk installs, and the app opens, but when I chose my school, it says that I am not on a Sprint Device and refuses to load anything... How restarted.
Thanks for your help though! Maybe some genius programmer on the Verizon side knows how to fool an app into believing I'm on a sprint network..

You could possibly trick it by shutting off your cellular connection and use wifi... not sure though.
Good luck, bummer it didn't work out.
I didnt even know this existed either, hoping my school enabled mobile also.
just like the iphone version.. still doesnt work with my school either.. whats the deal JUST ACCEPT THE FREAKING APP UNIVERSITIES
should i go ask tomorrow? hahha
wow, nice find! My school hasn't enabled it either though. What can you do with it?
Just a thought. Try loading a Sprint PRL. That may do the trick.
Awesome thanks! My school uses blackboard and I never thought to look for an app for it.
This is great. Downloading now
Edit: It crashes all the time on me. Not stable for my Evo
Why would anyone want this? It has a 2-star rating on the Market. It looks like total trash.
I read about this coming months ago and then forgot. Thanks for reminding me!

If you go to school, or your organization uses blackboard its actually quite handy my friend.. only reason the review is so low is because its sprint exclusive. So people try to use it, can't, and rate it bad. What do you want in a blackboard app, naked women and free drinks?
It wasnt working on the evo, emailed dev and they fixed it within a day. it works now and it works great, id give it 4 or 5 stars definitely worth it.
Alot of school's havent activated this, I asked my school about it, and they said they haven't added it because they haven't got the site where they want it, feature wise, before they add it. Even though I doubt what they do will have any effect on this.
And yeah, the bad ratings are because of all the people ranting about it only being for sprint.

[Q] Where can I learn how to develop apps?

Hi, I am looking to develop windows mobile apps for my HTC HD2 and I was wondering if there is a free online course or some places that I can learn everything I need to know to start developing ASAP, I hope to become good at this and I will be posting on the forums frequently but can someone help me out? It would be greatly appreciated if you could give me some links.

ASAP? you could also begin with Visual Basic. thats Easy to learn and quite powerful.
hey yo techburrow i am really new to smartphones and apps. i got my hd2 less than a month ago...but i feel the same way...it feels like it's really underground to learn and teach this stuff. i wish i new someone to teach me some of it...but i have learned more on this topic at this site in a week than anywhere else. it is truly wonderful. have you tried wikipedia for more info? i wish this site had a "xda term dictionary". i'm having trouble just figuring out what words mean...but maybe they do and i haven't found it yet. good luck...your first app should be for people llike you who want to know how to build there own apps and don't know how. "myappbuilder" or something...peace.

P.S. Don't expect to learn all this stuff overnight, it's a long hard slog to become any good at it. Even then you'll still find room for improvement.
Good luck and don't give up.

[Q] Help Needed developing newest battery tweak

Collin_ph here. I've been working for literally months trying to get my battery tweak on the android market. The problem is that I don't do front end java development.. or should I say, I never have done it before. I have 2 full time jobs as a developer and a business owner and really don't have time to learn another language and framework. I'd LOVE to work with someone who A. is Experienced, and B. Has the time to work on something like this.
The next version really is going to be great, I just think it's time to get it on the marketplace so it's compatible with more than just certain ROMS on the Hero. I know it's technically possible.. I know the ins and outs of making it work, I'm just way behind on making a pure android app. If anyone really really wants to help, let me know. I'm wanting to make a profitable app on the market, and I want someone who'll share in the vision and the profits. There'll always be a free version, especially for XDA users. If you're interested, please PM me. This will make 3 times I'll be starting over because developers don't really have time to work on the project. If you're like me, you know this has potential.
Let's do it
collin_ph, will there be a shell script version of new battery tweak too, yes?
i think shell script is efficient and stable enough for me and i don't want to install an android java app.
love your tweak!!

LOL, with JM throwing his hat in the ring, you KNOW you're gonna have a winner!
A huge thanks to both of you guys!
In the long run, I really don't have any plans to continue the shell version. There are a lot of misconceptions about the shell version-- a lot of people think that there is no process that continues running, however, there is. I have a plan to have a very similar setup with the java version that should still have a small cpu and memory footprint.. possibly even smaller CPU usage as the Java version can be event based rather than timer based. Anyway, just know that I will do whatever possible to make the program fulfill its need the best and most efficient way possible. With Java, we can be usable on more than just a hero without having to port it every time, we can run on different roms without porting, we'll be able to run more things event based and remove most of the timer based things (if not all), and lastly, we'll be able to do things that we weren't able to do in shell. I'm excited for the new version, but as always, it's job is to make the phone faster and give it better battery performance. The new version will most likely be called "tweak tool", as Battery optimization will be only one of its functions, but the most important.
Anyway, after Easter, I'll be sitting down and going over a plan for the new version (once more). Hopefully we'll get a full blown launch out of this attempt.

Haha. I'm excitied. Hopefully you two will join together. This is gonna be outstanding! Ha. Yea I know I'll shut up.
I'll have to learn how to write Android apps. Already know Java.
Can't be that hard after modifying Android source, right?

If you set up Eclipse, there is a lot of help/examples available. App Inventor is another tool that might be an option, perhaps less flexibility, but a "block" oriented approach that does a lot of the work for you.

I've tried appinventor and as a developer, it feels totally bass ackwards. I'm no java developer, but I've already put together a couple of tests in eclipse, which is the direction I want to go-- especially since I'll be doing everything in my power to make sure it's optimized.

Holy crap, if you AND jaybob are going to help collin_ph, this app is as good as gold. You two are by far two of the most dedicated and steadfast devs I've ever known on XDA.
Excited to see what comes out of this, happily willing to buy any app that comes out of it as support

where to start for first time app?

ok so i have had a few ideas for apps and i finally think i have a great one, ya i know we all think our ideas are great. without going into to much detail it will allow users to scan barcodes and look up/ add info about that item kind of like a wiki page. there is alot more too it but i dont know any of you and am not just going to give my idea away ;p so my question is where to start. i have little interest in learning to code im more of an idea guy, im thinking finding venture capital and hiring coders? im not looking to make it rich off of this app so i dont mind offering up most of whatever proceeds that would be generated, i just want it to be the app that i want with the features i want thats why im not willing to just put all my ideas up here for someone to take and skew. so what are your tips/ stories from starting your first app? what do i need to have? stay away from? etc?
