Guide & Info
Guide For ROM Cleaner and Additional Tools!
We did make an effort to make it as clear as possible on each AROMA screen. However it's always nice to know what the scripts do and when to use them...
So let's start!
Main Menu
In our main menu you will find:
* Backup Tool
* ROM Cleaner
--- ROM Cleaner (Sense)
--- ROM Cleaner (NO-Sense)
--- Skip cleaning step
* Additional Scripts
--- Settings Restorer
--- Setup Wizard Remover
--- Apps & Mods Installer
--- Run all scripts in one GO!
* Log collection
* Advanced Power Menu
Backup Tool
Will backup:
-*- Applications (Not app data)
-*- Accounts (Settings - Accounts)
-*- Bluetooth pairings
-*- HTC Sense launcher settings (and 3rd party widgets)
-*- HTC Mail accounts (including Inbox)
-*- WiFi keys
Important Note: Use this before flashing a new ROM flash with full wipe
How to apply:
--- Open ROM Cleaner AROMA and press "Backup Tool"
--- When done, press "Power Menu" and "Exit" .... or whatever you want...
ROM Cleaner
Flashing procedure for pure ROM Cleaner users!
-*- Flash a ROM with full wipe
-*- Start ROM Cleaner AROMA and pick "ROM Cleaner"
-*- Pick "Sense" or "NO-Sense" script, press Next
-*- "NO-Sense" users will get a launcher menu and the option to use HTC lockscreen or AOSP lockscreen
-*- Next menu is optional (should be pretty clear)
-*- Press Next again and wait until ROM Cleaner is done
-*- Press Reboot and use your phone like normal
Skip cleaning step
If you use this option, nothing will be removed and you will still be able to restore your apps.
Additional Scripts
Important Note: Use this menu only after a full boot!
* Settings Restorer > This script will restore data already saved with Backup Tool
* HTC Setup Wizard Remover > This script will remove the HTC Setup Wizard. IT's pointless to have once your phone is set up
* Apps & Mods Installer > This is a batch install script. Apps, mods, files in /sdcard/ROMCleaner/SecondBoot will be installed when you use this script
* Run All scripts in one GO! > This is a batch install for all scripts in this menu
Logs Collection
Use this option when we request logs from you.
This script will collect all needed logs + "*user.txt" and create "RC_LogCollector.tar" in ROMCleaner folder. Upload this file and send it to us on XDA or IRC.
Advanced Power Menu
In this menu you will find the following options:
* Reboot your device
* Exit to Recovery
* Reboot to Bootloader
* Enable Mobile Network
How To Edit Your Personal User.txt
Steps you need to do:
--- Windows users, download Notepad++ and install it.
--- Download "ROMCleaner_user.txt" or "NO-Sense_user.txt" from the firstpost
--- Open the text file with Notepad++
In the text file you will find two columns with app names and a description in this guide we use AdobeReader.apk as an example.
To Remove a file with ROMCleaner
Code:
AdobeReader.apk Adobe Reader PDF reader
In the case above "AdobeReader.apk" will be removed.
To keep a file with ROMCleaner If you decide to keep it, add a "#" at the beginning of the line:
Code:
[COLOR=Red]#[/COLOR]AdobeReader.apk Adobe Reader PDF reader
Let's say we are done with the edits. To continue just complete next list:
--- Press the "X" in the upper right corner of the screen to save the changes.
--- Copy the file onto your sdcard. The file must be located in "/sdcard/ROMCleaner" folder.
Now ROM Cleaner script will always read that file!
Easy?
Yes? Good because this is and should be easy

-All scripts packed in unique [B]AROMA Installer[/B]

That means "FirstBoot" folder is empty unless you add apps manually.

And of course to everyone who supports our work.
Great idea mate.
I flashed it, no problems. Works very well...
Me love Sense long time
Seriuosly, I find it well integrated and best UI available on the market, except the HTC Location based on Route66. Just wish they had 4x5 Grid as default, even their new phones with qHD are 4x4!!!
Maybe you can include Rosie on steroids if you leave Rosie in there anyway ;-)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
And if you use it on a Gingerbread ROM?
I think I just let users mod it the way they like it.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Oh Gb uses a different Rosie. Then it should be 2 diff versions. I guess its best to let users decide then
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Well if I get any kind of feedback I might start to add stuff to the ROM... and also make a froyo script and a gingerbread script. Let's just wait and see when the official GB comes to DHD.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Hey OP, already tried your script and i must say.... it's a good script, very good.
For me, your script is a 'MUST HAVE'. I'll surely use it whenever i flash new rom. ;D
Nice job there dude, thanks.
-Wireless from Tapatalk-
Awesome job Patrics! Saves me a lot of time instead of manually removing everything. Thank you
Your welcome mate!
I was thinking to myself over the weekend if something like this was possible to save having to spend 15 mins adding and removing stuff before flashing.
Lo and behold I find this!
This definitely going to be used a lot!
Appreciate it!
;edit; Forgive me as I have no Knowledge yet of these scripts so bear with me.
To edit is it as simple as adding and deleting the parts of code I dont want removing?
If I were to add this after the cleaning section, am I right in thinking that anything under /system and /data in the zip will be copied over too?
If they are do I need to add anything else to the script?
Code:
delete("/system/etc/security/otacerts.zip");
delete_recursive("/system/etc/fakeserverxml");
[B]ui_print("Writing Data & System...");
package_extract_dir("data", "/data");
package_extract_dir("system", "/system")[/B];
ui_print("Unmounting partitions");
unmount("/data");
unmount("/system");
Thanks, itll make my flashing so much easier

About the script
This script removes apps and widgets that I personally don't use.
Rosie does not get removed, so you have still the HTC App Launcher!
Some people might find it too much and others too little.
It is up to you to decide if you want to use it or not.
Please hit the "Thanks Button" if you like it.
This is what the script removes

Ahaa Thanks for telling me! LOL
Why you should use it?
It takes less then 10 seconds to delete all listed files.
It's much better to delete things you dont need before you performe the first boot. Less trash left in your device and this will also speed up your first boot a little.
It's up to you if you like to use it or not.

Yepp. But if you remove to much this might cause other apps to stop working correct.

Your welcome mate!
Very nice addition to my addons collection. I'm using it right know on latest ARHD rom and it's perfect.
I was tired of not using sense and still having all that useless stuff hanging around. And since it doesn't remove rosie, I can switch to my favorite skin Slate.
So, Patrics83 thanks a bunch!!
Thats awesome!
There were a couple of things I keep, really surprised its so easy!
Thanks again!

Install Instructions: Read Carefully.
Flash though CWM
*The CWM that comes from ROM manager seems to have a problem. When Wiping/Factory Resetting CWM freezes at sdcard/.android_secure, then you'd have to pull battery. it may also have a problem Restoring backups, stopping at sdcard/.android_secure. If you used CWM from ROM manager and had No problems then congrats, But i recommend you download the update.zip (i renamed to CWM3XX.zip so it doesnt replace the CWM you already have) i attached to this post incase you run into these problems, then from CWM you can flash the CWM3XX.zip and it will Flash a CWM that has No problems at all, this CWM i got from Krylon360 before it was Added to ROM Manager. it would be smart to keep that on your SD Until this issue is addressed.
Instructions -
- Put zip file in your /sdcard
- Reboot into cwm recovery
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset
- Wipe Cache Partition
*Now before you Flash, Only if this is your FIRST time Flashing a Custom ROM otherwise ignore the mounts/unmount part*
MAKE SURE YOUR MOUNTS LOOK LIKE THIS: (Go to mounts and storage from CWM recovery)
UNMOUNT CACHE
MOUNT DATA
MOUNT SDCARD
UNMOUNT SYSTEM
- Now its safe to Flash the .zip
after you flash, go back to mounts and storage (before rebooting, AGAIN IGNORE if this isnt your First time) and make sure your mounts look like this
UNMOUNT CACHE
MOUNT DATA
UNMOUNT SDCARD
UNMOUNT SYSTEM
(To First Time installers, System Needs to be set to Unmount, though it would really be mounted. If you do Not do this you will have a softbrick and will have to ODIN to stock and start all over ....)
Download Smooth Maximus ROM X (187.48 MB) >>>>>>>>> Download!!
About the ROM itself..
This ROM is build from the Sidekick 4G KD1/Samsung Galaxy S 4G KD1. Most system apps are from the SGS4G. This Theme is based on a Honeycomb Setting. Though its a combination on Honeycomb 3.0, Xperia Arc and Xperia Play, Sense 3.0, and Galaxy S II. There is A LOT of themed apps inside. Id say pretty much most of them are themed and more to come. The Icons and Menus of Most of the app are bright and colorful. This ROM has a lot of the bloat from Tmobile removed. If You want your battery to be at best on this ROM then don't Flash this ROM on 100% so your battery stats remain correct.
Theme Manager is in this ROM but only the Disguise Theme is Available at the moment..
If you have any force closes/bugs/problems please report them asap.
I have credits to give will update in the morning when finishing OP.

Ayo, what's the music player in your notification bar? I would love to have something like that! also, I'm working on a theme of my own from your stock deodex now, if it ever looks half decent I'll add it, but for now, yours beats the crap out of mine. I'll prob use yours when it's done and final.
cool, thanks for the quick response!
...is there ANY CHANCE AT ALL... (Highly doubtful) that we could get the theme manager on stock rom (and possibly still in yours) working with the CM7 theme apks?
Like I said, highly doubtful, but that would be epic win.
jahnbodah: The CM7 Theme manager is dependent on GingerBread, so until we have a gingerbread port, we can't use it.

its a Modded MusicMod music player based on the aosp froyo google android music player. Only this one is modded to work with the lockscreen and in notification bar.
And The theme and ROM is complete. But I Wont say the ROM is final unless you guys agree on that so there might be minor updates. This is just the first release so i can get feedback and see what you guys think.

Guide & Info
Guide For ROM Cleaner and Additional Tools!
We did make an effort to make it as clear as possible on each AROMA screen. However it's always nice to know what the scripts do and when to use them...
So let's start!
Main Menu
In our main menu you will find:
* Backup Tool
* ROM Cleaner
--- ROM Cleaner (Sense)
--- ROM Cleaner (NO-Sense)
--- Skip cleaning step
* Additional Scripts
--- Settings Restorer
--- Setup Wizard Remover
--- Apps & Mods Installer
--- Run all scripts in one GO!
* Log collection
* Advanced Power Menu
* Reboot your device
* Exit to Recovery
* Reboot to Bootloader
* Enable Mobile Network
Code:
[COLOR=Red]#[/COLOR]AdobeReader.apk Adobe Reader PDF reader

Yeah we wanna make sure as many ppl as possible can use our tool since it does wounders when it comes to flash new ROMs all the time.
Hi all,
Just want to give some feedback to the dev's and users how I'm using these scriptfiles. Maybe it can be usefull for some ppl to show it's not difficult at all to gain a lot of time during Rom installation taking almost no effort at all. If I can do it, everyone can So what I wanted to do after I read the manual in OP by DUDE360 was:
- Backup apps that I'm using at the moment;
- Flash Rom;
- Remove most of the Sense stuff accept (weather)lockscreen;
- Auto-install all backuped files;
- Apply my mods (All-in-One, CRT, Quick settings XL, UOT, boot- and downanimation and OC daemon settings automatically;
I can tell you that all of the above worked out perfectly!!!!
So here's what I did flasing a new ROM (and will be doing in the future, for sure). In this post I use the same numbers as I do on my SD-card so I can recall what I did, or do a fast re-install.
Preparation:
Before I went flashing I made sure my mods were added to the SD-Card in /SDCard/Romcleaner/secondboot/ in exact the same format as the are in the mod-zips.
Example: In AIO mod there's a dir: /system/media/weather. Copy it to /sdcard/ROMCLeaner/secondboot/system/media/weather. I opened two windows and copied (extracted) everything. Just like that. Did this with all mods leaving out the META-INF dirs.
If you use a more than om mods make sure you add them to your SD-Card in exact the same order as you flash them normally and let the new files overwrite the existing ones. It's no guarantee it will work, but it is the safest way to get it fully working. It works for me, using all of the mods mentioned above (and even more right now)
Actual Flashing order:
00 Flashed: Folder_Creator.zip only the first time to make sure all directories are there where they belong;
01 Flashed: Backup_Apps_to_SDCARD.zip (all insatlled apps in backup dir);
02 Flashed: Superwipe.zip (automatic reboot into recovery);
03 Flashed: ROM (ARHD in this case);
04 Flashed: Rom_Cleaner_v2.2.zip (did no modifications to it. Lockscreen is kept by the satandard script) It reboots itself in a normal way (not into recovery that is);
05 Skip the HTC Setup Wizard for the biggest part - I only do the Wifi setup.
06 Reboot into recovery;
07 Flashed: HtcSetupWizard_Remover_v4.0.zip
08 Flashed: Mods_and_App_Installer_v1.2.zip
Now I know, if I want to keep Sense (I'm not a Sense hater, lol), I can always use the "auto-install" option flashing a new rom by skipping step 04, 05 and 07....
I'm now flashing and installing (almost 200 apps) and do a full setup of my phone in Less than 25 minutes after a full wipe!!!!!
PS Sorry for the long post, just hope it's an addition on the manual in OP and useful for some....
Cheers

In general, all points of "Why you should use it?" (written in first post) are advantages of ROMCleaner over Titanium Backup.
Biggest plus: u delete apps before they even get started once (before 1st boot)!
ofcourse, you should run it after a fresh install of your ROM!
this means no trash, no remnants, no nothing
Furthermore, you would not have to delete the apps manually which could take an enormous amount of time.
Thanks for this, only difference I noticed was I had go into Sense(even when uninstalled LP and re-installed) , in applications and clear default home. And widget locker FC'd, but fixed with re-install. Thank you for this app.

You will get best results if you flash ROM cleaner after full wipe and ROM flash.
Otherwise you need to clear HTC sense data.
*Manually after your device has booted.
*Or activate this function in romcleaner_user.txt and HTC sense data will be cleared.
Remember this will also clear your home screen.

Installation/Update Instructions
General ROM installation instructions can be found here: SOS Blog - Installation Page
WARNING: If you have already installed a 4.67 OTA-based SOS ROM (i.e. Swag = OFF v2.0.1), with a full wipe, then you can simply flash this ROM over v2.0.1. If you are using v1.9.0.9 PR or lower, this update requires a full wipe This wipe is required for full functiontionality. This will (hopefully) be the only wipe needed for 4.67 OTA-based SOS ROMs. This ROM is still based off of the 4.54 OTA, but v1.9.0.9 will prepare you for future updates (i.e. this will save you from having to wipe later). MyBackup Root is a great (free) tool to backup your app data as well as texts and call logs.
Team Swag HIGHLY recommends a full wipe when updating. But, if you decide not to do a full wipe - the ROM will still work. It just be missing a few under the hood tweaks (which you probably wouldn't even notice).

Instructions on how to send back select apps (i.e. not every app included in a pack) are found on the Installation page.
Essential App Pack
Normally, ROMs come with a lot of apps that many users will use often, but I know that everybody won't use them. Due to that reason, I try to include as few apps as possible (and make them fully uninstallable). For those that do like to have some extra apps added in easily, this is the right place for you! The instructions are the same as the other App Packs, except the apps are located in /data/app.
[Will be updated in the coming weeks]
CIQ Adder
If you are a fan of Sprint apps, you may need this. CIQ is explained here, and the reason it is not included in this ROM can be found here. However, according to this, you shouldn't worry too much about CIQ. If you are having problems running Sprint apps, try flashing this.
Swag = ON: Multiupload | Mediafire
Swag = OFF: Multiupload | Mediafire
To re-strip CIQ, you simply need to reflash the ROM (Swag = ON) or Unswagification Pack (Swag = OFF), this will UNDO any other modifications (themes, kernels, etc.) you have made to SOS, though.
Other Add-Ons
These are some other files I use that I had no part in making (like kernels and fonts), but they are flippin' awesome!
Latest Radio Update (2.15.00.08.08)
Recently a new radio update was release for the HTC EVO 4G, be sure to update to it to receive the latest updates for your EVO!
Flashable .zip
When flashing this file, recovery will tell you to reboot. Do this by going back to recovery's main screen and selection Reboot (at the top). Then a weird updating phone thingy will pop up. Then it will go back to recovery and you can reboot again and you'll be good to go. Warning: Do not pull your battery or perform a radio update on a low battery. Let the installation complete. Failure to do so could result in you bricking your EVO (you have been warned). Also: It is a good idea to back up your WiMAX keys. This G&E article should help you out.
Splash Screen
This is NOT a flashable .zip, follow the instructions below. White-on-black Splash Screen (looks great with the boot animation for SOS):
PC36IMG.zip
Place this file on the root of your SD card, use the 4-in-1 reboot mod to reboot into the bootloader, select BOOTLOADER, press volume up to confirm install, then volume up again to reboot, enjoy! Make sure the file is name "PC36IMG.zip" and not something like "PC36IMG (1).zip" or it won't flash. Thanks to JSZESZE for the splash screen and thepiecesfit for making this PC36IMG.zip
Amon RA Recovery
Using ROM Manager, an app included with SOS, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the in-app options. The first-to-last option (under "More Recoveries") will read "Flash Alternative Recovery." Use this to flash Amon RA Recovery.
swagstr personally recommends manually downloading SOS and using Amon's recovery over ClockworkMod. However, ROM Manager is so damn easy! So the choice is really up to you

Hope y'all enjoy! And, @eVoKINGS Thanks for the welcome
If any developer wants help porting any of this junk to their ROM (*cough* native screenshots *cough*), give me a holler. More than willing to spread the knowledge I've gained while building this ROM.
There's some themes and add-ons I want to put up... but I'm too sleepy, there is a sneak peek at the blog. Until then... good night

Swyped From My Red Hot Intergalactic Space Modulator!
Ive been running this ROM from CWM for about a week. Really stable. If you want something that isnt a memory hog, this is it.
I don't want to confuse users. We are not associated in anyway so I'm not sure why the kernel I have been working on is included. I was never approached about my work being incorporated into your "swag". If you enjoy the kernel, direct users to it, would be much more easier for me to maintain, much apprecited.

It looks deodexed to me.
@mpitcher225 Thanks, I'd have no problem with this being used as a base (hopefully I haven't caused any bugs ) And I thought Sense 2.1/3.0 was the best, but man, Sense 1.0 still got it!
@lithid-cm I don't wanna start my dev life pissin' people off lol I sent you a PM
@vplug Definitely not, but the Rosie is themed to look like Sense 2.0+ (lets face it, it looks cooler )
@ItsDon m20120 is correct, the ROM is deodexed. This and many other details are fully laid out in the blog (link in my sig). And I don't have a clean install running right now, but I don't have any extra apps installed beyond the base. I have 251MB free and Darktremor's Apps2SD is enabled for this ROM, JSYK
To everyone else, thanks for the positive support! I hope we can keep this up so you guys (and gals ) can have a great ROM to run (and me too, I use this ROM lol).

I just did a clean install of this rom - swagged version - and I have 387 MB of available space with about 10 extra apps that loaded up after the install. Very fast and responsive thus far.
Great job on the ROM swagstr - thanks button has been hit!

About:
The majority of Sense has been removed!!
With many AOSP parts added in.
I have left a few HTC parts intact for various reasons. (see below for list)
Most all other parts have been removed for a speedy UI and a very close to GPE/AOSP look and feel.
More L goodness and theming may be added as optional mods as I find time...
I will also post some other HTC options, as time allows and I see fit.

This sounds like my dream ROM, GPE with sense camera!!!! I did a clean wipe coming from DH's gpe rom. The ROM flashed fine and at the end says I've been Unsensified. I then reboot and get the white screen with HTC logo and red lettering at the bottom, then it goes away and normally now is when I would see the boot animation with the 4 spinning colors but instead I only get a black blank screen with the backlight on. No boot animation and the Rom isn't booting. I am stuck here on the black, blank screen. I will get back into recovery and restore my backup but just wanted to let you know.

Please be sure yours is updated.
Yeah, I updated my firmware the day it came out. My firmware is on the latest and again, I wiped system, data, cache and dalvik cache. Still get no boot animation, just black screen with backlight on after white htc screen goes away.

Don't know why some folks have this issue while others do not.
Take the boot.img out of the rom zip.
Then do this:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
I have to assume your current boot.img is not insecure and not allowing it to be overwritten.
Also, if you did the firmware update via sd card, I suggest doing it again...
Wouldn't boot for me either. I just flashed a separate kernel and all is good. Awesome ROM!! It's the perfect mix of GPE and Sense. So far I have noticed date is cut of on notification header. Thanks for your work!!
I can try this, but I'm not really sure how to take that out of the rom.zip. And yes, this may be the result of something I did before going to DH's GPE and while still on RKDN sense rom. He put in bucky's kernel and there was an issue with it so someone posted the stock insecure kernel and I flashed it. it was from tigerstown. It should still be insecure but not sure. Either way if this is something you could maybe quickly explain, I will try it in a heartbeat. When I updated the firmware I did so with ADB in fastboot and not the SD card method.

Not cut-off, just displays the month is all.
You can also just flash the included kernel by flashing the 4.4.4 insecure kernel in post #2 of my NuSenseSIX thread.
Which is what's included.
Doesn't make sense to me why this would still be occurring for some users.
But I would prefer folks be on the stock kernel for now, so that we have a controlled environment for initial feedback.
Not saying users can't flash another one, just that it will help cut down on issues reported from using an alternate.
(at least initially)

Stock 4.4.4 insecure kernel.
Flash in recovery.
Same as the one included in rom.zip.
If that doesn't work, you'll need to fastboot flash the boot.img.
Just take it from the zip.
Sorry Santod040, don't mean to cause troubles and I'll try your suggestion right now. Thanks!!

Dirty flashed ROM to make sure nothing from other kernel was left behind and it booted right up. Second time was the charm. Didn't have to flash stock kernel separately. Thanks!
I'm not sure why this worked for me but it did work. I flashed the ROM again, wouldn't boot so I did what Santod040 said and took his kernel from post #2 of the nusense thread and flashed it, (already comes with this rom is the confusing part)??? After I flashed that kernel I then rebooted and it booted right up!!!

Same here, but I have to start waiting before I check for new roms the first thing in the morning. When I read it with my morning eyes, I thought the Rom was called "UniSex" and not "UnSenseSix"....lol....hope this is not an indication of how my work day will go....lol...I work with a lot of women.
Remember this on the Droid DNA!!!
