Did you install NV flash? If you did so then simply press volume down and power until you see a list full of android apps and wipe factory/data, dalvick cache and battery wipe. Then reflash the rom. Most likely it was just a bad flash. If the rom still won't load then its also possible that the rom file never fully downloaded properly to your phone or computer.

Thanks, I will try again and let ya know what happened. I didnt do the wipes first. SO I"m thinking that may be the culprit. I"m new to the droid scene after a few years in Apple's iron fist of hell.
Did it again and still the same deal...GOnna try the nightly from yesterday.

Welcome on board to android! I'm pretty sure its something that you might just be overlooking. I recommend watching a few YouTube videos to help you get a better understanding on what to do. Type in something like "how to flash a rom". With all androids the method of flashing a rom is pretty much universal. Rooting methods aren't though.

This is the second ROM I am putting on. I already did the "leaked" gingerbread. I have heard so much positive about the CM7 I figured I would check that out. Also heard about something called eaglesblood. Dont know how different that is from CM7. I"ll get it going on. Should I always wipe the dalvik and battery when installing a new rom?

Shoot it did the same thing. What the hell am I doing wrong. It wasnt this hard doing the leaked gingerbread one LMAO.

Download the ROM again (may have had a bad copy).
wipe the data, then the cache.. then go into advance, wipe the dalvik. push the rom. Then hit 'fix permissions' in the advance menu. reboot.

I'll give that a shot LOL. Didnt add the fix permissions in there. Have already re-downloaded the ROM. Guess I should just pony up and buy the premium Rom manager thing so I can do this OTA instead of computer to sd card blah blah blah. Thanks again for all of the help.

chances are, you'll want the gapps on there too. Latest is available here (at the top, the 20110613 version) - http://goo-inside.me/gapps/
You after you do the wipes, push the rom, then push the gapps right after, fix permissions, reboot.

ya, the gapps file goes in the same place as the rom. There is not a need to rename the file, use the file just as it was downloaded - just like the rom. Just do all the wipes.. push the rom, push the gapps file, fix permissions, reboot.
goin to bed.. you'll get it this time..

IT's ALIVE.....IT'S ALIIIIVE....MANY Thanks to both of you. Now let's see how this rocks compared to stock.

Just in case other have the same problem, i always format system in the mount section, when going back to a gingerbread from froyo. just a thought.

Thanks Sabo. I will keep that in mind. So far this kicks the crap out of stock. Even my signal is better. I'm getting reception in parts of my house that I didn't before

[Q] Can someone check my rom-flashing plan, just to make sure that I don't brick?

Hey guys, I've been reading XDA for about a month now, and I think I'm ready to flash CM7. I've already rooted with superoneclick, but I don't have the money now to get a new phone if I brick, so I was hoping someone could just check my plan to make sure that I'm good to go? I've read the tutorials, but I want to be positive that I'm ok. I think that if I generate a list [without looking at the tutorial], rather than just copying theirs, I'll be sure that I understand the steps 100%.
Procedure:
-Root the phone (done)
-install nvflash on computer, and then clockworkmod to phone
-backup the NAND with clockworkmod (is that like the wii, where the NAND is specific to the device itself?)
-move the NAND to the computer for safe keeping
-install titanium backup > backup all apps > move to computer for safety
-flash rom from SD card
I've flashed a few roms onto an android tablet before, but I didn't backup the NAND when I did...
Will give "thanks" to each reply
You pretty much have it down the main thing to remember is to nvflash BC if not you will not be able to get into recovery. Also before flashing the rom you have to wipe data/cache/and dalvic cache. Let me know if this makes sense I'm at work so I don't really have time to go into detail lol

Ah, yeah, I forgot about the clear cache bit- I remember doing that when I flashed the tablet. Thanks a bunch man, I just finished, and it worked great!
I'm glad everything worked out lemme know if there's anything else u need
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
also if u want to just install a kernel after the rom is installed just wipe cache then dalvik then install kernel....no need to wipe data
Also, depending on the rom, you also may need to flash gapps. With Faux or CM, you will. I believe with Bionix and Eagleblood it is included (someone correct me if I am wrong).
After flashing, it is always best practice to run a fix permissions in clockworkmod.

Ah, yeah, I figured that one out. I couldn't figure out where the market was! And then I read...
What's the fix permissions thing? Is that the option in the CM settings that said something like "don't turn this on and then report bugs, because it'll break some apps" ?
Fix permissions is in the advanced menu in cwm recovery.

Lock Pattern Screen

Hi I have flashed my phone with a few roms and now that I have flashed any new rom and even whipped out and reformatted my sd card etc. I get the screen unlock pattern all the time.... even though all I have to do is swipe anywhere and not input a pattern unlock its really annoying!
Can anyone direct me on how I should go about this?
I currently flashed :
[Heimdall][One-Click][UVKJ6] The KJ6 Heimdall One-Click Collection [12/11/2011]
But I want to clean it out completely and start all over without the worry of this unlock pattern!

As for what ROM, man, that's subjective I just read that Whitehawkx relased Valhalla Final. As for me I currently have Octane. I'd probably go to KG4, then stock KJ6, and maybe go to something custom from there. Others may have different ideas, though.

Why? I rarely use it, and have only installed it a few times but don't usually keep it installed.
Honestly it's not necessary, but does let you easily install a custom recovery in some situations. For an S-OFF device there are much easier and more convenient ways to do so.
For the first few months we had the device there was no official recovery and ROM Manager was dangerous to use (not so anymore)

Press "flash recovery" and grant Superuser permissions. Not that hard.
Delivered via candygram for Mr. Mongo.
Haha I didn't realize I was so far out of the loop! With my phones, I root to get access to system folders, system apps, and to run adfree. I don't flash ROMs at all and always keep stock ROM. If I saw "ROM manager" before, I probably brushed it off without thinking because I associated it with custom ROMs.

Not only that - but i've noticed on the stock ROM every time I plug my phone into a computer without rebooting first it locks up and restarts - I have yet to have this happen on my ROM or any of the others I used before that.
Once you root the stock ROM, it just doesn't seem to work as well, and I had the restart issue before root was available for us with this device. At first I thought it was my computer doing it, but now with an older desktop in service it happens on that too, and other random computers I plug into that my friends own too...I dunno.
There is a lot to be said for running a custom ROM instead of the stock one, beyond all the little fixes and enhancements they bring.
...but, that's why we all work together here to constantly bring better software with more support for these devices all over XDA.

When is the last time you cleared cache and dalvik-cache? That might help with some of your issues.
I wrote a flashable-zip package that will do just that if you don't want to do it manually, it does a wipe (not format) so is compatible with all 3 clockworkmod recoveries we have available, since 4.0.0.8 and 4.0.0.9 don't implement the format command correctly.
Blue6IX said:
Third one is: Blue6IX_C01_Wipe.zip
MD5: a8c57de781b2abfca2dfcdcae57d439c
This one will wipe the /cache partition and also wipe dalvik-cache. Use this one if you are having problems with specific apps, especially when changing to a different version of an already installed app.

Either manually doing it or flashing my script might help with your issues, or might have no effect.
The next time you boot after doing so the machine will have to rebuild both cache and dalvik-cache, so it will take a little longer to boot that first time and after it's done and has sat for 5 minutes or so you should reboot the machine again before using it, just to get everything worked out right.
Hope it helps!

Skyrocket ICS Flash Problem

I don't know where else to turn here. I don't have enough posts to reply to the actual thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570498
I followed the instructions there, I previously had SkyICS 9.4 on my Skyrocket. Since installing those instructions, I can't boot or do anything else. When I turn my phone on, the Samsung logo pops up for a second, disappears, pops up again, goes to ANDROID logo for a few seconds, then repeats that process or turns off. I can't seem to get to any kind of recovery mode.
I just want to know it's not bricked...
Anyways, if anyone could give me any insight at all, it would be extremely appreciated. If I was too vague in a particular area just ask and I'll answer. I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject.
Thanks for any help.

So what do I do now?
You fall into this category. If you don't agree thats ok..
TAKEN FROM THE OP........
[*]The only people who have a hard time flashing are Gingerbread users. Its hit or miss. I dont know what else to do. Most people who cant flash find that Darkside SuperWIPE fixes it and the ROM will flash! (DONT FORGET put on your sdcard before your WIPE)

I'm not saying I don't agree with you, you undoubtedly know much more than I. My question is what is my best course of action now? Should I take my MicroSD card out, put the program on it, and put it back in my phone? Would that even help, as I can't get to any kind of boot screen anyways or way to use the software if it were on my phone?
Your phone is still fine.
All you need to do is pull your battery. Now, hold Vol up and down while you put it back in/turn the phone on until the first samsung logo appears. Then let go. This will get you into recovery.
From there, you should be able to wipe data. You can also mount the external SD while in recovery and add Darkside wipe, then unmount and run it from the root menu.
After that, things should be fine to re-flash the ROM
Ok I feel a lot better now, that worked. I'm back to ClockworkMod. Gonna start over with DarkSide. Thank you!
[Edit: Everything worked from there on out, ICS is installed now and has booted fine. Thanks again!]

rom manager app g2x

hello all, im very new at this. I currently have G2X rooted stock rom GB, I saw oon googple play about the rom manager and i saw the video example on how they can change the rom. I want to know if anyone has use this app what are the specific steps to use this app with the g2x. I know the phone is special and it may or may not work like the example on google play, also is this app worth it and can it be use safely without damaging the phone.

You need to flash CWM using NVFlash on the G2x; ROM Manager won't do the trick.

As long as you used NVFlash for CWM, it's super easy. Just download the ROM you want and save it to your SD card. Then go in CWM, wipe data, cache, and system, then choose "install from zip file"and select the ROM you downloaded. Voila

2.go into recovery recommended you make a backup
3.wipe data and factory reset, wipe cache partition, go to advanced>wipe dalvik cache

5.install zip from SD>gapps
