Official android 2.2 tmobile is coming!!

Original MyTouch 3G is 32B, so this is great news! I can't believe, we're gonna have OTA Froyo (OK, maybe not OTA for US, G1 users, but hey, I think it would be piece of cake for devs to port this to G1).

umm is this real.... can the mytouch 3g even presentably run froyo fast enough for tmobile to make an OTA not to mention how old it is compared to phones that are much newer and dont have froyo i mean dont get me wrong im a mytouch 3g 32B owner and am eager to see this (im wondering how good it will be compared to community roms)

Goddamn, this took long enough! At least its FroYo, not Eclair, the wait has been worth it IMHO! Getting a new Mytouch (trackball, camera problems, T-Mo insurance+warranty FTW!) on Wednesday so at least i wont go crazy un-rooted.....for now.

I hope so.
Currently I am using Cyannogen Froyo port for My Touch 3G and it is slow like hell, have to restart the desktop app every 5 minute.

how about flashing another optimized rom or try different settings. disabling dithering, enabling force launcher stay in memory and such stuff

I've just flashed this rom recently (went from 1.6), and did not have much time to find out, how to opimize it. But I would be glad, if you share the link on how to.

I had the same thought because most of the froyo roms I flashed have been unstable. I'm hoping somebody can port this over to the g1 without all the buggs.

It doesn't make sense that they'd release an ota froyo for the original mytouch but not the g1.
I feel like google needs to "parent" all the carriers if they want android to turn into what it should be.
I mean, look at the whole samsung galaxy S/K ordeal. makes no sense

idk for sure
afaik it does make sense because the mytouch 32a has 192 mb of space. the g1 32b has half the storage. thats why g1 won't get a 2.2 update. but i suppose it would be easier to port it..
really not sure about the numbers. i only think to remember them very little

Yeah. Google needs to take a page from Windows Phone 7 and set a minimum hardware requirement and push updates over desktop software like the Zune software and bypass the carrier bull crap.

I can confirm Tomorrow - October 25th.
Now besides the fact of Root Developers working on this, can G1 users Flash this as a OTA Update.

Looks like Ill be slapping the Stock fender rom back on for this week to see if it comes through. Luckily with the Mytouch 1.2/fenders you dont have to change SPL and radio so all should be fine.
Its about damn time lol.

Same here, but T-Mobile themselves said they were going to release the update for the 1.2/Fender and the MyTouch Slide at a "Later Date". They are focusing on the original MyTouch right now (which is BS, i think they should do the 1.2 first ).

Mytouch 32b port 10/23/10

This is just a quick port I made of the mytouch 32b (not to be confused with the mytouch 32a or mytouch slide) froyo 2.2 update.
I just took the update added xbin from one of darches nightlies added our wlan.ko and buildprop. At first I just switched kernels but bluetooth didn't work (it did work good though with decad3nces bfs). So thats why I used the bootimage from darches for the most part everything works and it's really not something I really wanted to pursue but figured if I wanted to try it out someone else would. I just like it cuz it has odex files.
Just to be clear though this doesn't have sense their update didn't include it.

I guess this is a mytouch port of AOSP 2.2 to the hero?

Yeah that's a misconception people have. There probably won't be a sense froyo update till the mytouch slide gets it. The mytouch 32a might get it but I kinda doubt it since they didn't have sense to begin with. The point of this is that it's 2.2 with odex files and just so people know what the mytouch 32b update was all about cuz I'm sure someone wanted to know. Also I was bored

Well hell, if that's the case than this is pretty sweet. I noticed it running mighty fast on mah hero that usually laggs out if not at least a smidgen when I am running AOSP. I say this might be fiah for the AOSP Froyo!
Cyanogen-Modders, what say you? A rom upgrade to the project eh? Maybe we can finally have some CM6 with a healthy dose of no slowdowns/hickups!

My phone already runs fine on CM6, no slowdowns unless I'm trying to do things while installing/updating apps. Running Deca's UncappedKernel (CFS) really helps

Yeah I personally don't have many problems with cm6 nightly. I will say that I ran decad3nces kernal in the original tmo bootimage in this rom and it flies

I wish I could say the same. I have had nothing but trouble with cm6 even with the newest kernels.
Don't get me wrong the glitter and glam (and brute force speed!) is better than perfect at first, but after about a day, my phone becomes unusable on cm6.. To the point that it will lock up on any given screen for 5 seconds or more. Usually more actually. So I am hoping maybe this will get me somewhere

nope. Not here and I personally know one other person that has the same issue but I think I know what the issue is.
2.2 a2sd I don't think works very well and I believe that is the issue. I want to try dtapps2sd with it but haven't had the time.

NO because the nightlies have a different setup.

What is the point of this? CM6 is native and has no GSM limitations. The Slide is the one that will get teh Sense update, not this one.

From what I've read, this is so early in beta it should almost be considered alpha.
I've tried running Pokemon Diamond on my Dinc running IncROM 1.5beta2 and no luck. Currently flashing a backup of CM7 Nightly 32 to see if it can do any better.
EDIT: CM7 Nightly 32 also doesn't run Pokemon Diamond. Updating to Nightly 34, although performance is unlikely to change.

Does Pokemon Heart Gold work on this emulator? Either way, I'll buy this once it gets updated to a more stable version.

Well, it is not a scam, but it is far from being worth $10.
I am trying it right now.
First i tried Fire Emblem, but all i got was a white screen.
I decided to get a lighter ROM and tried Space Invaders Extreme 2.
I am looking at it right now, and i have the top intro screen.
It took a few minutes to load from the "saving game" warning into the intro.
The buttons don't seem to be working at all, and the touch screen is just black.
In any case, it is an emulator, not a scam.
Albeit a very buggy one that should be available for free if the coder wants to get some serious input to advance this project.
There aren't even any settings on this thing.
Too much of a rush to make a quick buck, imo.

Friggin Launcher Pro is closing on me now, and i don't seem to be able to get back on TW...
Guess it's time to reboot and uninstall this app for now.

I agree this one is a beta an we all Should wait till they release an updated and more stable version.

Trying to get Pokemon Soul Silver running but I only get a white screen/flickering screen and since there is no sound I can't hear if the game is actually running in the background. It seems to try though...

From what I can tell from his Twitter posts, the "two" things are different versions of GB. One bloated, one debloated.
The big question now while waiting for the DL is how we go about installing. Do we need to disable Voodoo first, etc.

Neither are going to be Voodoo, and this leak that he's releasing will completely wipe and get rid of everything and start fresh with Gingerbread. You don't need to do anything because Odin will do it all for you. These leaked copies are also nonvoodoo, I'm almost 100% positive of that.

So we don't need to manually return to RFS file system before flashing this firmware? From what I understand, the firmware is rooted, so it is just a matter of one of our esteemed kernal makers to cook a voodoo version for us, correct?

So how is gingerbread? Can u readily go back to froyo if it doesn't work well?

It's up for download now via TBH app. Bloated and debloated and with Netflix.

I use to have a DroidX, so I purchased TBH's App a long time ago. I have definitely gotten my money's worth, and I'm always very happy and satisfied with his leaks. In fact, on the DX, I have used them as my main everyday ROM with no problems.
It's great to see TBH doing dev for the Charge. Very excited about this.
I've currently got the Debloated download on my phone, but I'm at work and I don't have the tools here to flash it. The admins here really lock the PCs down, and I don't have the app installed to flash my phone. However, when I get home it will be the first thing I do.
I'll post back here my findings, but I'm sure by then, others will have done the same. I won't be home for another 3 hours or so.
Anyway, it's Gingerbread! Don't be too worried about not having voodoo. It might be faster than voodooed Froyo. Time will tell.

Takes about 6-7 mins to flash via Odin. And Samsung boot logo will flash a few times so just be patient.

First, I am very new at rooting and customizing Android and appreciate any help understanding. Please don't take my questions wrong, the screenshots on these ROMS look amazing and I know more than a few tons of hours went into developing and testing, it really is that I am not comprehending the differences I'm finding.
Thanks to the help of the great tutorials here, my SK4G is now successfully rooted! I've been looking at ROMS now for a very long time and found I am really leaning towards Glorious Overdose v5 or neXus JB.
What I'm wondering though, is why would I go through the trouble and risk of flashing if it is essentially still running froyo? Since it's rooted, could I simply uninstall the junkware and use Holo or ADW for a similar effect and virtually no risk? Of course I do see the difference in the kernal version, but as I said I am new to this and it's just my guess that kernal is even a big difference maker.
I am very obviously missing something here, and though I am searching I'm not quite finding what it is I'm not understanding. Otherwise as the video stated when I signed up... I'm a noob...

I didn't read
Flashing a rom gives you more space / faster an more reliable
Glorious overdoes v5 is a bit buggy here an there an over all is the largest "rom" due to the aroma
I use nexus jb is slim fast reliable its really good the creator ric has made many roms each better then the last (theming wise) demkantor is really great dev only a few people here anymore an these two still make this phone amazing

Thanks for pointing out Overdose is buggy, I have that and nexus JB downloaded so perhaps I'll go with JB. Admittedly I'm a bit nervous to take that next step and flash. If I brick I have no backup phone, but it looks like the instructions here on this website are pretty clear and easy to follow. Plus, I'm a risk taker lol!

There are many reasons to flash a custom ROM, in addition to what Immortality said: you can flash one that looks and feels more like GingerBread, IceCreamSandwich, JellyBean, etc. You can pick one that isn't so bloated (although once you're rooted, you can pretty easily remove the bloat). I've tried a few, and here are my notes:
GOV33+LEAN-PERFORMANCE-RELEASE - Started out good, but over time SU stopped working, battery life degraded. Liked LauncherPro. Maybe it just needs to be reinstalled
neXus_JB_v1.2 - Colors hard to read (white on gray). Seems like too many unnecessary apps (live wallpapers, etc).
MeMoRy - Based on GOV3.3 Lean. Uses Lightning Launcher, which I didn't like at first, but it's very simple and presumably lightweight. However, the supplied Jelly Bean keyboard keeps crashing. I installed the ICS keyboard and removed the JB keyboard, and this is now the ROM I use.

Thanks for your insight, very much appreciate it. I did see that GB post, looks really interesting. Once someone determines if it's actually upside down as in his pic or not I may just go with that one. Unless it really is upside down, that would seriously drive me nuts!

Should be fix-able but yes if you look at the track pad an the screen the settings is upside down an in chinese japanese

Sweet, definitely keeping my eyes open on that thread because I know for certain I cannot fix it! I haven't even had the guts to flash a new ROM yet or even delete bloatware, only froze it so far...

i like both gov2 and nexus jb.
both of them smooth like a charm

But I still wouldn't use it if this is your only phone. Keyboard does not work so you are stranded with a virtual keyboard. Battery life does not seem to be all that great. No buttons work on the actual phone except the power button, trackpad button, and the volume down button. The gyroscope does not work and I have not even set up my SIM on this so I don't know how it works with actual use.
