Has anyone managed to get one of these telechip tablets to connect to an adhoc wifi hotspot yet?
I have a sony erricson xperia x10 mini pro (rooted) which I use as a hotspot via barnacle. Works great with the laptop, but would like to use it with this tablet, unlimited data plan on my phone is much cheaper than the 3g dongle...
Been searching the forums but can' t seem to find anyone who has got it to work on one of these yet.
Same goes for the camera in skype, got the video calling to work but my camera won't record or transmitt anything no-one can see me LOL!
Got clockwork mod installed and can help testing stuff.

Can anyone let me know if slingplayer works on the nexus s.
Yes, it works very well, and I'm streaming from my Slingbox Classic which is not officially supported (both wifi and 3G).
Working great for me as well.
Alright thanks guys i have a evo 4g and im running CM7 so wanted to know if its a gingerbread issue or cm7 issue
Used to work great on my hero, over wifi and 3G.
Then when i got my NS, it was only working when i was on the same wifi network as my slingbox. I uninstalled it and now it has disappeared from the market..... I paid £20 for it and now its gone......WTF!
If you're running 2.3.2, it's probably a protected app. It should reappear once Google adds the new OS version to its market system.
Working in full swing again ) panic over =P
I can only get it to work on my wifi at home but nothing on my 3g network any ideas guys or gals? thanks ping33tx

Im also experiencing problem using slingplayer on my Nexus S, its streams ok on wifi but when Im on 3G it becomes very choppy which it unwatchable.
I used it back to my HD2 using the same 3G network and it works with out a problem, but when I use it to the Nexus S its just goes really choppy and lags.
Hopefully someone has a fix to this, thanks in advance.
I had same problem only worked on my wifi network..I just reset slingbox and did the whole setup over..but this time I manually connected to my router ..now works like a charm..hope that helps..!!!

What do you mean manually connected to the router? My slingbox is connected to my wireless router and my 2 other android phones on Rogers wireless and Bell network works flawlessly on this set up. Its only my AWS Nexus S on Mobilicity is having this problem. All of my 3 lines are on unlimited data plan.

I'm a noob here so please be kind... Anyone know the settings on the Transformer to get bluetooth tethering working. I have a windows mobile HTC touch pro2 using wmwifirouter v1.25. I can pair the two devices but the Transformer never seems to connect. On the HTC, If I go to internet sharing...bluetooth pan...it says it cant connect to the transfomer's NAP network. wmwifirouter is always waiting for a connection.
Any ideas?
I've got the same problem (although using HTC HD2)
Just the same for me using an iPhone 3G

not sure if it makes any difference but i'm using my jailbroken, iphone 3GS and no problem whatsoever. you just have to enable it on the settings, pair it and you're in. getting 1Mmbps on my work area so i'm very pleased.
I think it depends on the bluetooth program your using and how its doing its routing. I've had no problems using Wireless Tether on my original Droid. Just flip it over to Bluetooth mode since the transformer can't see the ad hoc.
But I've also tried PDAnet and a couple other non root needed bluetooth tehter programs and they didn't work.

Has anyone been able to tether with the LG G2x model? I haven't had luck bluetooth tethering to my TF with it, it pairs but thats about it
No option for tethering
You guys need to keep in mind that the carriers have been cracking down on tethering. On my Droid X there is a built in app called Datamanager or something similar, which makes it so I cannot tether my phone. Once I froze it with Titanium, I was able to bt tether my phone to the TF.
iPhone 4 BT tethered worked for me
Hi All,
I have the TF and tried BT tethering yesterday with a buddy. It works fine once you have it paired you have to go back in and connect to it in the BT Menu on the TF.
I haven't tried tethering with anything else yet.

The Wifi Tether for root users creates an Ad-Hoc network. Android devices (your tablet) cannot connect to Ad-Hoc networks.
The built in wifi tethering (when the hardware supports it) creates an infrastructure network - which any android device can connect to.
Basically i have recently invested in a new netbook with wireless and i always use my Defy to tether to it and my other pc aswell. I use the 3G hotspot app to tether it this came with the phone and didn't require root so i use it as dont wish to root my phone. I have now installed linux on my netbook a i prefer it but now my wi-fi tether wont work anymore i know the pc is working fine as it will connect to other wireless networks. Is there anyway i can make it tether again?
Thanks
Can anyone please help?

Hello I was wondering this tablet can connect to ad hoc tethering yet? Is there a wpa supplicant file someone could point me to because I couldn't find anything while searching. Thank you.

Easy solution, to which no root is needed, is to install FoxFi on your phone. They removed it from marketplace. Just Google for the apk. Install it on your phone. Then install the add on that's in the marketplace. Works flawlessly for me. I had same issue where newer ICS and JB builds on my nexus 7 and note 10.1 wouldn't recognize the old wifi tether app, which used ad hoc tethering and needed root on phones. I've used Foxfi on my old Atrix phone and worked. Tablet picked it right up. Now I have my new Samsung Galaxy S3, which is completely stock. Installed foxfi on that also. Now I can tether my 4g LTE speeds to all my tablets with no issue. No root was needed on phone. App works great on stock phone. Its likely your phone is supported if its a decent/popular android phone.
I don't thinknthe supplicant file method will work on the note. I know I tried it on ly nexus 7 and didn't work. FoxFi solved everything
Supported stock no root.I use my tab more 10.1 connected to cell all the time.
Supported out of box

I think its more so, what particular app people are using to make the ad hoc tethering connection attempt. As people have been reporting not being able to connect. I know, on my older rooted atrix, the tablet wouldn't see the connection using the old tried and proven Wireless tethering app. FoxFi solved the issue for me. I think people that have paid hotspots feature on their phone can get it to work out the box(may be wrong). But alot of others, not just this tablet alone(prime, nexus 7, etc..) have had issues getting ad hoc tethering to work since newer builds of ICS. On prime, we used an alternate wifi supplicant file to get it to work. But later updates caused that to not even work anymore.

Funny you mention that. As I have the old unlimited data plan on VZW I had to spring for the additional hotspot charge to tether my S3. Worked great for a couple weeks then stopped. "Saw" the phone but couldn't lock on an IP. Before the last update. Both phone and tab were rooted stock at the time. Staff at VZW shop had no idea why. Figured I'd ask to not give any cause to jeopardize my plan. That said, FoxFi works great!
Weird.
confirmed working for me..
Foxfi running on papasmuffs CM9 HTC EVO build..
using 'Pdanet Tablet' on the Asus Transformer stock rooted .27
Thanks for the thread as was going nuts playing with the old tether program..

Only other thing I can think of is to try using the wireless tethering app. But instead of wifi, choose Bluetooth tethering in options. Its not as fast as wifi but still good for normal usage. Any connection is better than none I was using Bluetooth tethering for a while until I found solution.
Hello there,
I'm pulling this post back from the depth of the forum to ask if there is any news on this front... Foxfi is not working on my phone (motorola Defy), and neither is Wifi Tether. Bluetooth tethering (via PDAnet for example) works but is extremely slow...
Would you have a suggestion either for an android wifi tethering program that supports interface mode, or about a way to add support for ad-hoc wifi in the note 10.1 ?
Many thanks.
