I switched to Dreamkernel as soon as call recorder support went in. As a side effect I have gotten substantially better battery than yesterday.

cool ill be sure to try it when i get off of work that way if i screw up my phone ill have access to tools to fix it at home haha

[Q] How to improve battery life on CM9?

My current build is attached.
I have auto sync on because i need my email, brightness on VERY low. Bluetooth, GPS are both OFF.
Wifi is on when im at home and im getting 3-5 hours of battery life out of my SR...
PLEASE help. What am I doing wrong? What is the matter here?
I would recommend the InstigatorX or Cymbaline kernel with the badass or SmartassV2 OC/UV governor. Also, check your BLN and haptic settings as they can drain battery also.

3-5hours of battery life doesn't sound normal unless you were using it heavily like playing a graphic extensive game or driving with the screen on with GPS and streaming music.. if you were using it lightly you should see about 10-12 hrs, very light 15~ and barely using it 20+ with regular use maybe an average of 9hrs. Things like wakelocks can also be the culprit, thats when the phone doesn't stay on low CPU clocks or deep sleep but stays at full load speeds when not in use and that will drain the battery pretty quickly.
I too am having this issue. On battery use it list phone as taking %55 and screen at %8. This indicates.a.wake lock issue, correct?
I recommended installing Better Battery Stats and checking your wake locks.
Also if the phone app is killing your battery, it is due to bad signal. Also known as rillj wake lock. Or so I've heard. I've yet to find a solution other than flashing radios that may or may not help signal.

Need dev help trying to boost MIUI/HebMIUI battery life

Hi guys and gals (if exist)
I really love my HebMIUI ROM based on Erikmm's latest MIUI V4.
I injected it the latest Team Acid kernel and auto brightness mod and it seem to work flawlessly,
Problem is battery life is just not good enough to serve as a daily driver.
I intend to merge PIMP my ROM mod and DS's A.I when I have time, but I seem to miss something.
I'd be happy to get suggestions.
Here are some XDA version Better Battery Stats raw data snaps : (10x!)
Idk but actually, when I told u my battery was not good and I meant it just could last for a day lol...and I have never used it for more than a day w/o a charge even on GB so i dont think its bad...anw, just try all things u think its good cause its hard to say anything bout tweaks and battery life I think cause...IMO and from what I have been through, scripts and build.prop lines not really help much both performance or battery life...and even OC or UV

I use cMiui 2.8.10.
so I don't know about HebMIUI but i use that rom around 20hr w/o charging.
This rom base on Hefe kernel 0.8(I think)
I tested Hefe 0.8.1 kernel but 0.8 is better than 0.8.1 battery life.
I use cMiui 2.8.10. I think cMiui and Miui is almost same.
I love this rom. I waiting UPDATE. ^^
You can try this and flash rom again.

Hi Dao
I know what you mean..
we both are more than heavy users, not leaving the phone for a minute, so in that way, yes, even on Valhalla I barely made it through the day.
Here I get this issue even if I have no activity and that's what bugs me. Batt is draining no matter what the user does. That's why I shared this technical data presented in the pics.
Thanks MJMJ
I'm not looking for a replacement.
I love the original MIUI, tune and customize it and share it, here on xda, especially for Hebrew speakers, but not only.
Every ROM has his pros and cons. Cmiui is based on cm9 and miui is based on touchwiz. I prefer Miui as it is the original ROM and is generally considered more stable.
I might try Hefe kernel though.
I think problem is related to device awake status...

That your phone is running quite a bit at 100 MHz when I might expect that it be in deep sleep caught my eye. I suspect something is keeping your phone from deep sleep. I can't tell from the BBS you have posted as I'm not sure what you were doing during the time it was collecting stats. I find the BBS from when I'm not touching my phone and it is running on battery overnight perhaps the most valuable.
As far as Hefe 0.8.0 vs. 0.8.1 on battery life, you've completely fooled yourself if you believe you are finding a difference. Go ahead and pull a source diff -- it all is about the interface to sysfs so that external apps can control the UV/OC, not the kernel operation.

I an not a professional. I'm just user of this forum.
I found this about battery life.
about WIFI I advanced setup Keep Wi-Fi during sleep -> Only when pluggged in.
use both of this hefe 0.8 and 0.8.1.
0.8 is wifi off when phone lock.
but 0.8.1 is not.
and battery life is different.
I write just my experience on my larrow professional konwledge.
I'm sorry I can not understand about source code,Interface and UV/OC.
Just experience.
Anyway I love cMiui and Hefe kernel.
Hi
I put WiFi as always on (even on sleep) because I wanted to get whatsapp and work mail in real time. Otherwise I didn't get them in time. Perhaps this is it. I will try it as on only when connected and report.
I would also try it with and without auto brightness mod. Let me know what data do you need.

What follows is my opinion and it is not completely backed up by experimental evidence, so take it as you will.
I don't believe that any ROM or kernel can significantly improve battery life over any other "good" ROM or kernel. I do believe that there are ROMs and kernels out there than can significantly reduce battery life though.
In my opinion, the two biggest factors on battery life (past battery againg) are
How you use your phone
The applications you or the ROM have running
The most insight I have gained on battery life is running BetterBatteryStats on a "full" battery (unplugged) overnight, when I'm not interacting with the phone at all. As soon as you wake up, turn on the phone, go to BBS, and save a full log.
With a good ROM/kernel, I think you should be getting 90-95% "deep sleep" and no more than ~2% per hour (on a typical 1800-2300 mAh "advertised" capacity battery in good condition) drain. If you're not getting that, I'd look carefully at what is keeping your phone awake. If you have questions about interpreting the results, I know the BBS author and has a great thread where you can post your logs and get some feedback.
When the phone is running, it is my opinion that the screen consumes most of the current, assuming you're not a "gamer" or streaming music or other content. Running with dark themes in your apps (as you can), as well as keeping the brightness reasonably low (auto-brightness should help most users here), are good steps to take.
The GP2A light sensor reports 0.75 mA current consumption in Android, so I have a hard time believing that turning on auto-brightness is any worse that running at similar manual brightness levels. If the phone were to be able to run for 18 hours with the screen on (which we know it can't), it would be averaging ~100 mA -- the GP2A would account for less than 1% of that. Of course, that 0.75 mA may not be the correct number. I'm hoping to see if I can do some measurements on the screen drain at various brightness levels, as well as confirm that the GP2A draws minimal current itself. (Unfortunately, the I2C version of the light sensor used in the SGS4G and other phones does not seem to have a publicly available datasheet.)
I think that the way someone uses the phone has a significant impact, even day-over-day. I know that Hefe Kernel v0.8.0 and v0.8.1 have no meaningful differences in how power is managed. The report that one is noticeably different than the other says to me that day-to-day differences in how a phone is used, even when the owner thinks they are using it the same way, are perhaps more than may exepct.
Werd to your grandma!
Good post Jeff!
Good post Jeff.
Sometimes something as simple as playing a game and then switching to something else without the game exiting properly can do it. Once or twice a day on my PC, I'll go to my task manager and notice that IE or Chrome is still running despite my windows being closed. It's stuck in limbo. On a PC, it may suck up a bit of RAM or CPU cycles but if you have 6cores/8gb like me, you don't notice. Something like that on a phone can suck up battery life like a hog though.
Installing 1 badly coded app from the market can do it. Viewing webpages with more of a white background can affect battery life. There is a million things. It's like laptops. They may advertise 6hours battery life. Sure on the dimmest settings with the screen turned down and very few apps running. Stream and HD movie from Netflix and watch how that 6 hours turns into 2. lol.
Thnak you very much good informantion about battery life.
I understand what you say.
About my post.(I use cMiui and Hefe kernel 0.8)
WIFI I advanced setup Keep Wi-Fi during sleep -> Only when pluggged in.
I tested both of this hefe 0.8 and 0.8.1.
0.80 is wifi off when phone lock.
but 0.8.1 is not.
kernel version : 2.6.35.7-Hefe-ics-00044-g151987a and
2.6.35.7-Hefe-ics-00046-g83ec25b
Do I something worng?
I am not complain about your KERNEL or ROM.
I'm very glad you guys about good efect, time and everything for make good ROM and KERNEL.
Thanks again.
I don't think you did anything "wrong" at all!
The control of the WiFi is mainly a ROM thing. Android says "turn off the WiFi" and the kernel does it. I'm puzzled as to why you are seeing a difference. Since v0.8.0 and v0.8.1 are the same as far a WiFi goes, I suspect something else. Perhaps settings not "sticking" between flashes? If it happens again, logcat and dmesg might provide a clue as to why. If you do would you post in either the Hefe Kernel Q&A thread or the Q&A thread for your ROM?
Hi Jeff
Thanks for the detailed posts.
Did what you asked : got 96% after 7 hours of no use, no charge. Deep sleep is 98%.
So I come to conclusion that wifi is sucking up the battery on miui. It has very good reception and always shows full bars for all spots.

I installed 'Better WiFi' (from the creators of BBS) and set it to open wifi connection only when screen is on and keep it if there is network activity.
Left it at night and dropped from 65% to 35%.
I'm now sure WiFi is over draining when opened.

Anyone got any battery tweaks?

CM10 battery life is pretty poor, anyone found a solution? I remember on defy someone improved by using stock battd folder in place of the original one, however desire s doesn't have this folder. Undervolted, full charge cycle, disabled auto brightness light to moderate use and only 8 hours. Display is main culprit according to system, maybe its getting too much voltage or something? I'm no dev its just a thought

Perhaps you should calibrate your battery with an app like battery calibration
"It's suggested, but not necessary, to let the phone fully discharge after calibration, then charged to 100% without break."
Make it twice or three time then you should see a difference.

Battery stats is a myth: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
The difference seen is purely down to the full charge cycles done in this method, after about 5 days the battery stabilized anyway, thanks anyway

I have the same issue on Pacman (CM 10).
My - I hope temporary - solution is to disable 3G as much as I can. For everyday usage, 2G (Edge) is sufficient for me. At home I am on wifi anyway, so I perform the heavy tasks then.
I noticed a very big difference when using 2G only vs. mode "3G preferred". It seems that there is a 3G battery draining issue with CM.
3g is known to drain battery. Keep it at 2g for better battery life.

The first thing you should do is download BetterBatteryStats so you can figure out what is causing your battery drain.

Have you tried faux123's recommended settings for his kernel? It is on the Faux Kernel Google+ Community. You could also make your own adjustments until you get it how you want it.

If you want battery I suggest bricked or maybe a dialed back franco

Do you have a Pebble by chance? Causes a bluesleep wakelock, other bluetooth devices don't seem to do this. Just a thought since that is the only thing destroying my battery life and I have like 100 apps.
I'm running SlimKat+Faux also and am getting really good battery life. I'm running Faux's recommended settings and as long as I don't use the tap or sweep to wake, the phone sleeps like a baby. I get pretty much crap phone signal everywhere in my area so I don't get massive 5+hour screen on time but it's quite more than enough to take off the charger at 6am and still have around 20% give or take when charging it up at 10pm. Usually getting around 2-3 hours screen on time with about 2-3 hours bluetooth music streaming a day.

Battery Drain Op6

Hello everyone, I was recently inrroduced to the world of rooting, modding and installing custom roms and kernels to the device so I may sound like a noob here and there . I have a issue with my one plus six running stable oos 9.0.2 where I think I habe have high battery drainage, there are people who claim that their op6 lasts a whole day at one charge but I being a heavy user have to charge it up to 3 times a day. I have currently rooted my op6 with magisk installed and the list of mods is attached below, also the bbs stats are attached too along with all the necessary information, I am currently on the Ex kerenel Manager and have the battery settings turned on along with advanced optimization. Also I am using the lawnchair launcher v2 with pixel 3 live wallpapers coupled with the mod provided for aod . Can anyone tell me what should i remove to make my battery life more optimal or if my battery is fine.
So 10.2% in one hour, while playing pubg. Seems normal.
Yes, thats fine but the idle drain is way too high.

Have you also tried to disable the second Sim?
The pixel live wallpaper will do a number on battery.
Two Sims, live wallpaper and aod. You problem is right in front of you.
The AOD will suck quite a bit of battery, for me during the day i get around 2/3% par hour of standby. My graph looked like yours at first.
But, try putting it in you pocket when you don't need to have it on a table, etc. With OOS 9.0.2 and Franco Kernel, i get 0.42% per hour of standby while phone is face down during the night and thus AOD disables.
I'm not even trying to maximize battery, have Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and other apps running, Wifi + LTE, location disabled, with a fresh install of latest OOS stable and Franco Kernel r13 without tweaking anything :good: And i also use the Pixel 3 wallpapers, wich by the way look amazing used with the AOD.
Screenshots for illustration.
The OnePlus is not designed for Always on Display, but even with that, it definitely shouldn't be empty in 6 hours. But with heavy gaming, I believe the phone life tested at about 5 hours. You should see what it looks like when you don't game.
I get about 8 to 10 hours Screen on Time with with browsing, facebook, and casual use. I have 1 Sim, no live wallpapers, no Magisk modules. I also disabled the Ambient Display on lifting phone. (I probably did a few other small optimizations, but can't remember)

Wow Dude , your phone ui looks quite minimal and clean, are you using any launcher or icon pack? Also i have my location turned on always so can it be a deal breaker? Now as I focus, i think location too is sucking the damn battery off. Also while using Franco kernel do you have any problems with the brightness, I can't seem to disable low brightness while using the manager. My idle standby is too damn high thought averaging 2-3% even with the aod off. I think I mighy now consider a clean format.

I'm just using OOS 9.0.2, OnePlus icon pack and stock launcher, everything stock !
Location services seem to use quite a bit of juice yes, saw very good results while disabling them.
Yeah I saw this brightness thing in the Franco app, but looks like it doesn't do anything, or it's a bug. I flashed blu.spark and the brightness is exactly the same ! I wouldn't pay attention
Idle standby on my end is 0.5%/h with Franco and Blu.Spark. So it's definitely ROM/setup related ! A clean flash should solve it !
Try Servicely from Franco to revoke WakeLock authorization for apps, I feel like it helps a ton with social apps too !

hey guys I have huge battery drain issues and I can't figure it out. I am using a second sim, but I need that second sim (is there a way to disanle it, so that i can get phone calls?)
Did a clean flash yesterday, hoping things get better, but nothing. my phone used 14% in 6.5 hours . BBS shows me Net_scheduler, I tried somethings there too but no success.
what could else be the problem?

Considering you just said 14% in 6.5 hours of idle drain, it is a bit high though. Have you any mod installed or have Aod by chance, also how long does the net scheduler work? Also do check the summary for if the phone goes into the state of doze or deep sleep, id it does the problem might be with kernel wakelocks, i tried disabling the wakelocks as per the boeffla wakelock and ffs I can notice differences.

I should mention my setup, sorry:

Do you get that on Wi-Fi or also on mobile data? I get about 0.8-1%/h on Wi-Fi and up to 2%/h on LTE+ without music playback on OOS 9.0.2. i can tell you it's mostly an app that hides itself in the stats
E.g. Pokémon Go's adventure sync used GPS and datan regularly resulting in an awful 4%/h drain.
