HEllo i was reading some in google when i found a page where says that google is cooking a built in application like the coming imessage and the well-kown blackberry messenger...
does someome knows if this is true????
if So i will be really happy to see that since it will bring a lot of blackberry users to android because they only are in BB because of the bbm but they do love android =)
There are many bbm like Apps already in the market. My too favorite are kik, I've been with it since the beginning, and the newer ebuddy xms. Both use your contacts and you can invite people.

yeah i already knew that but many people are too lazy to download an app (i know a lot of those people like bb users " hey friend download whatsapp or any crossplatform app to text each other", "nah why dont you get a bb phone better?")
i have heard that a lot of times even with android users... "hey download liveprofile dude... Nah i only use X-app"
so it would be awesome that with the new Android OS comes with a built-in Messenger like BBM, or just Gtalk Improved!!
yeah I agree with renehd2, bbm is an awesome tool and it hooks a lot of people staying with bb's if its just for that sole reason. When it comes to android, I know liveprofile is pretty sick but not everyone has it or will get it when they already have been using another bbm like app and already have their contacts set up with that....if google can make a standard the way bb did, i'm sure most of the third party bbm like apps will become extinct.

Hey Figo,
I believe the app you are looking for is called pMessenger and i read somewhere that it has just become available for android as well. I couldnt find it in the market though, maybe you will have more luck.

I'm assuming you're using a custom rom with dangerspl or something? afaik, unsuccessful downloads often have to do with a combination of the danger spl using part of the cache space, alongside a recent cyanogen decision to move something to cache, which is used to install apps.
In other words, smaller /cache size than app.
I wish there was BBM for Android! I love the Nexus One, but all my other contacts use BBM so it's something that I've realized that I would need and require.
go here ........ http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-hambelsoftware-pm-iAwD.aspx
thanks i got it from the market
It says it doesn't support BBM all over that link?
BlackBerry PIN messaging is a closed system by RIM. It only works on BlackBerry devices.

Its not Blackberry Messenger, its very similar but won't work with BBM client. As the poster above said, its a private chat system by RIM and only works on Blackberry's. There is no way around it unless they open up their servers and api's for it.
and then you would also have to pay your provider to have the blackberry feature so you could be provisioned on the blackberry prosumer server and get a pin! waste of money imo
the blackberries have a pin which is used as an ID in the chat program. now. for the ppl that are switching from BBs to android they would still want to keep chatting with their bb
having said all that, isnt it possible to take that pin from the old bb and get plugged in a chat program for android to utilize the service?
I managed to convince all of the key contacts I used to BBM when I had my Blackberry to install Google Talk on their Blackberry. Works great and we can still chat!
i can't find it on the market
There is no BBM for Android, only replacement apps.

There was an article about a new messenger program that requires no username or registerration of any kind. Just your number. But with just that, you'll have access to instant msnging, live video, voice msging, location sharing and more. I thought it was interesting.
Here is the article with video:

Looks cool. Too bad it doesn't work on iPhone too since most of my friends are getting iPhones.

Guess we all gotta wait for Whatsapp to come out of beta.
This apps UI looks awesome and even the features but for the life of me, its not loading up on my HTC EVO and it's making me WTF??? Why does it work for some and not for others, I dont get it!!!!!
EDIT: So I got it to install and it's up and running but now it keeps force closing... (shaking my head) lol... So I sent in a crash report and send them messages via twitter so lets hope they get back to me and we get this resolved!! I'm trying here!!
Hi everyone!
I haven't seen anyone talking about "windows live messenger", nor videos and just screens about a "future messenger".
Well, there is or there is not an oficial Windows Live Messenger?
Thanks!

Bwahaha so true. Mind you, it's alot better after the updates. Notifications seem to work fine.
I still cant get it to run at all, so also looking for an integrated "official" version.
i.e. at a minimum it should have the same integration Facebook does. I dont get how they can be missing that considering how "social" messenger is now.
Anyway. Fingers crossed we get something soonish.
(How can i skive of work if i cant pretend i am working from my phone?)
The lack of a first party Wlm client was one of the reasons i didn't get a wp7 device.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
This is not the Official Messenger app, it's just the only one at the moment. I know what miyowa said but they didn't say they were in charge of the official WLM but that Microsoft asked them to create a WLM app (certainly as an alternative until the official one is ready).
Trust me it wouldn't be called "messenger by miyowa", it would be published by Microsoft and it wouldn't be that ****. Also there would be a mention of it and a download link for WP7 on their official WL for Mobile page (you can select a device at the top): http://www.windowsliveformobile.com/en-us/windowsphone/default.aspx
The Zune HD version is functional but ugly so my guess is they went from porting it to working on a Live Messenger for WP7 similar to the iPhone one with social networks integrated.
As awesome as the Metro UI is, what's offered now just doesn't work with WLM (seriously check that Zune HD app, it's very ugly), they need to keep it close to the desktop version as people are used to it. I'm sure the official app will be there before the Mango update.

Bull. Even the high ranking MS execs I've spoken to refer me to the Miyowa client as official. I have no doubt there will be an actual usable client in the future, but for now it is the official one.
Microsoft would be stupid enough to let them use "Messenger by Miyowa"?
Wouldn't that be just "Windows Live Messenger"?
Even iOS has an official client. And it's not "by miyowa".
Yeah we need a proper one that can at least run backgrounded. I dont find it to be that bad since I usually leave my on at home and rarely need to log into it remotely

I was shocked that there wasn't a windows live messanger app for WP7 when I tried the HD7, I thought that was ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous that they still don't have one out.

it does push notifications so you will know when you have a message. Never have been an IM kinda user so it doesn't bother me, but the one that's there does the basic features.
Microsoft teams have more faith in ios than wp7 it seems. Now there is even denote for ios. The reasons to get wp7 over an ios device if on att or Verizon... Well there hardly are any...

There's a new WLM app called Li'Messenger. It doesn't have notifications but maybe worth a try since the miyowa one is a bit rubbish.
I think its getting pulled out of the marketplace. So i suggest to go get it now before it's gone.

i read its going to be removed... i just installed it, works and looks a lot better than miyowa's version.
now it just needs multitasking to run in the background
why would it be pulled? given the amount of twitter clients about... i don't see what reason MS would have to remove it...
I'm with you!

That was my initial reaction to the rumor also - but seeing as the app is free, what would he gain from this? Checking the app it also seems to be as well behaved as the developers claims it is, i.e. it sends data directly to Live. No intermediary servers involved so it's not like he's stealing account data either.
My guess is that MS doesn't like the fact it's using certain logos and/or Live API's, but rather than removing it they should in that case take it over as their official client as it's already much better than the other one.
Li'Messenger seems to be removed. wish I coulda tried this. looks really good. I hope for a better one than the current selection very soon.
Does anyone know if its possible for us android users to respond "to all" when iphone users send us a group text? Or even see who's involved in the group text? I've searched and searched and don't think there is a way so I figured Id ask here in case someone knew of a way.

Whatsapp.. That should work. Dunno. Don't use official texting. Whatsapp should work though.
And tell them to get Android. Make fun of them. Show the beautiful widgets. Then tell them to show you a beautiful weather animation on their homescreen. In they pull down the Android rip off pull down tell them it's weak, full screen. It should be easy, you know. On your little dinky screen.

Trust me. I've done literally everything you just listed. I've been an Apple user since the first gen Iphone up until the Iphone 4. Whatapp does work but the Apple user has to download it as well. I'm trying to see if I can connect with their native group text. I guess that's impossible at this point since we cant cross platforms yet. Similar to BBM on blackberries. If there is anyone with any ideas, please share.
Currently we are using Voxer which is pretty neat. However, the iphone user still needs to download it.

I'm looking for the same solution. Does anyone know of an app that allows android phones to see iphone group chats as group chats rather than breaking everything down into individual text messages that way we can do a reply all rather than having to send the same message to everyone that is in the group? Thanks.
There's plenty of apps that do this. 8sms is my favorite.

Android 4.2 messaging app does it natively now. And there's also the new Hangouts which allows for group messaging.
Android 2.3.6- 4.0.4 I've used NinjaSMS and can can confirm it works with group messaging. Again, there's also the new Hangouts app.

I'm currently trying NinjaSMS. Hangouts didn't work for my phone. I couldn't send or receive MMS which appears to be a known problem with a few phones. In addition, the 8sms app which was suggest to me also didn't work. It broke up their iphone group text to an indiviual text from each person. Therefore I still had to reply individually to everyone in the group. I'll let you know if NinjaSMS works for me.
Android friends, I heard about bbm on android and didn’t believe it works, so I tried to make a research to figure out this issue till i found.
Well here is the bbm for android:
Yes it looks like a bbm layout and yes it works by adding others pin but u cant chat to persons that own a bb and bbm them, this application works as a bbm but ONLY BETWEEN ANDROID USERS. You can 100% fake your friends.
So if any one of you need this application I can send them the apk, just install and add friends.
note: pin bbm here is called NIC.
so download and enjoy. 9ACAD861DE you can add me.
https://www.box.com/s/0a9dbf27eeffe4b310a0
That's nice
Instead u can use the watsapp so that u can chat to all other people (independent of os.)
Whatsapp is the best, but this is fun where we can fake people and say nothing can stop android.

I agree that ANDROID IS ANDROID and having BBM on it is totally unnecessary. Use a cross platform messaging app instead if you want to connect to BB users.
