I used Bubby's one click GUI to make goldcard. But that's not the problem. When I try to add items to the sdcard after making the gold card and items will not stay on the card. So I looked for away to remove goldcard and I cant find any help anywhere. Thanks
Not sure what you mean, bit it sounds like you have one of the sdcards that's hard to make into a gold card. Format it and try again.

Are you using the phone or your OS to format the SD card?
make sure you turned off fastboot, and on charge only mode

What files are you trying to put on there? Files unrelated to the rooting process? Are you done rooting?
If you are, just reformat it, as suggested. Or keep it after you root in case you need to root another inspire and use another SD card for your daily use.
I used some POS 4gb I had laying around gathering dust and it worked fine. After I was done, I put it in its little plastic storage case for a rainy day, and plopped the 8gb that came with the phone back in.
Edit...
I just saw that you tried reformatting and its still not cooperating. Did you format fat32 (full, not quick format) with it in the phone, via the OS, and did you "safely remove hardware" (unmount via OS) prior to disconnecting the phone from the pc?
Maybe try the HP USB Disk Format Tool ? ...with an adapter... not in your phone.
I just returned.. It was only a day old! Thanks all for you help..
Use a sd adapter , format it with fat32 and try again :d

Hello i have one problem ... i have 16gb micro sd card and i cant format it .. if i format in pc .. all files is gone .. but if i take it in mobile(htchd2) all deleted files are back ... i cant copy anything or delete .. if format in mobile .. says cant delete ... unable to complete ...
please for answer how to result it ... thx for help
(sorry for bad english)
Seems like the format does not turn out very well. Please tell me, what file system are you formatting to? And are you sure your phone does support 16GB micro sd cards? If all else fails you could try a third party partition manager (Partition magic, acronis) to format the card. Even better would be to format it using linux, this works most of the time.
in pc i have win 7 ... formating (think FAT32) and i was use that card before im usin it about 1year ... in that time is everything ok ... but now i cant format ... (my phone support 32gb cards.) its HTC hD2 ( something info about phone ..) SPL 2,08 hspl 8g xe ... i before used AMandroid 2.3.4 cyan...
hmm ok, I suggest you try to use partition magic (you can find it using torrent networks etc. like thepiratebay.org). For some reason your pc just does not format it correctly which is highly unusual. So, in conclusion, if your pc and your phone do not want to format it like it's supposed to. Try using some third party software.
Also, isn't it sufficient to just delete all the files on the card? If so, use your phone to do this, it might also work and it would be the easiest option.
i try many programs ... but dont any effect ... and i try delete by ... MAGLDR v1.13 but nothing ... card maybe locked... ?? it is?? i try next day unlock it by reduction or i buy new card .... its esiest way .. to result it ...

Warez isn't tolerated here.
You can try and delete the partition in windows disk management. Right click my computer, manage. If you still have issues it's almost certainly a duff card.

Sorry, I forgot for a moment
Bump for this
I am having the same problem. I have a 32gb micro sd card that Im trying to use but I cant delete anything off of it or put any files on it. When I do try to delete items, it takes the time to delete the files and then removes them from the list, but when the card is put back into my phone the files are still there. This is also the case when I try to add music. The computer will take time to write the files, but in the end no new files are created
I have tried using windows to format it as well as SanDisks formatter. I also did a check disk in windows command prompt but no errors were returned.
It should also be noted that when I tried to reformat with Sandisks reformatter, I was using the adapter in my sd card slot and it said that the card was locked and to slide the switch. I tried it with a different card reader and the same error occurred. when I put the card into the phone it was "able to" reformat it. but the same problem is occurring.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
stupid questioN; but do you have activated some kind of write protection? ^^

Swapping cards won't breath root. If you want to transfer info over just use the computer. Take everthing off of the old one, format the new one, then put everything back on the new one.

SD Card content (your files) has nothing to do with rooting your device. Obtaining root may have involved flashing a file that you initially saved on the SD card-- that's it.
I swap cards in a straightforward, rudimentary way. I place one card in a reader on my pc and either put the other card in another reader or just leave it in the phone with "disk drive" as my "Settings-->Connect to PC" setting. I just drag whatever files I want, or everything, from one card's window to the other. I have never needed any more sophisticated method for 4/8/16/32/64 GB microsd cards over dozens of swaps.

How do I format a 64g?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
Your computer will most likely want to format it exfat or ntfs. Go ahead and format it with exfat. Then place it in your phone. Then use your phone to format it again. I think you have to go to settings > storage > unmount the card > then format it. Then you can place it back in your pc or use a cable to copy all your files back.

^^Agoattamer speaks with wisdom.
However, I went the lazy route and just stuck my 64 GB microsd in my HTC Inspire (red) to format since I don't like opening/closing the Inspire's covers too much. The phone formatted the new card and it showed up as having 59.3 GB available, IIRC.
I always do a full format on a pc with all my cards first. I just want to make sure they are completely wiped clean first.
Inspire will most likely report the card as damaged and needing a format when you first insert it.
so i keep deleting files from my sd card but they keep coming back.
i've pulled it out and plugged it to my laptop and it says files are protected? didn't know micro sd cards can be protected ( no physical switch on the side) nor did i find anything underneath properties tab.
i went as far as formatting it while mounted, all files delete but when i restart the phone, they all come back.
i like to know how i can make this go away, kindly advise. thanks.

somehow they became write protected and i can't get it out of it.
need a new flash adapter , unless there is a way to remove write protected stage while its mounted to my phone?
Have you tried using an file shredder utility on your PC to delete them? Past that I would say its a mystery.

how do i steal the hex from another sd card?
I can't reproduce the problem so I'm unable to find the solution again. Sorry. That and I've also lost the 16gb micro SD card that had that problem. I'm using a 32gb now.

called samsung and they'll do a warranty exchange on it. problem solved
not sure how the micro sd locked up but it did, strange things happen i guess. i even tried multiple sd adapters and devices and still got the same error.
thanks everyone for their feedback.

same thing happened to me!!
I even tried to repartition the card with a memory adapter and minitool partition!
I made several partition ... but again.. when I restart it... files are there again!
it happen to me too, im an IT eng. I already google bout this issue n most of them end up saying the memory card is corrupt... strange thing is ..i try every software (including HDD regeneration) n found no bad sector. I try format using many app, easus, AOMEI n stuff ..not working ..try to convert from Fat32 to NTFS also not working ..LOW level format from command prompt same thing... the issue is driving me mad ... replace microsd card is not answer.
So in short my Droid Charge's SD card is screwed up.
I keep getting the message Damaged SD Card message in my notifications and I click it every time to format but then it doesnt do anything. When I try to view my photo gallery it says the sd card is blank or that there is no sd card. It wont let me use the camera because theres no sd card.
I'm rooted running Tweaked 3.0 with the latest FP5 updates after unrooting back to stock in order to get them. Tried to Odin back to stock a few times and then reflashing Tweaked a few times and still the same thing. Did factory/data reset, cache wipe, dalvik wipe a thousand times as well.
I am able to mount the sd card briefly in ClockworkMod Recovery, to view the files on the sd card but then about a minute or less later the sd card seems to unmount itself and becomes unrecognizable. Same for when I connect the phone via USB to my Windows 7 PC. If I pull out the physical sd card from the device, put it back in, hit connect to storage...the PC will recognize it for about a minute basically teasing me, letting me transfer a couple small files...and then unmounts itself and stops being read. Because of this I cant seem to partition the sd card in Windows 7 nor can I get it to complete and Check Disk.
I even bit the bullet while trying to format the sd card in CWM, and then while connect to the PC and I cant even get the card to format...
Obviously I'd prefer to some how save all the files on there before having to format if possible.
Tried searching around the forums but nothing seems to be similar to my problem. The ONLY thing I can come up with for the cause was that I mistakenly flashed the charge.PIT file while flashing Tweaked 3 in Odin. Not sure if thats the cause...
Any help and suggestions would be great. Thanks!!
It sounds to me like it's actually dead, or on its way. Try plugging it into your computer. Make note of the file name (eg F:\) Go to command prompt and type this:
Code:
chkdsk (drive letter with colon and backslash) /f /p
If that doesn't work, your last shot is probably this:
Code:
chkdsk (drive letter with colon and backslash) /r

Can you mount your SD card directly to your PC (i.e., pull it from your phone and use a card reader)? I've had troubles with SD cards in the past and by using a non-phone card reader have been able to save what was on the card or resurrect it back to the point of usability in the phone.

Yeah, I forgot to say be sure to do this with an SD or USB adapter rather than through your phone.

This actually sounds a lot like what can happen to SD cards on some HTC devices if the S-OFF goes bad. The two ways to fix it were to put it in a card reader and reformat it in Windows as FAT32, or there is a way to repartition and reformat it on the phone, but it requires you to know the pull /dev path to the SD card, and I don't know it for this phone.
Still no dice...
Ya I tried using an SD adapter that held the micro SD card, put that directly into my laptop's SD card slot and still had the same experience...it briefly reads and mounts...where i have enough time to dig few a couple folders on there and drag a couple small text docs off...then stops working.
I tried using those command prompts in CMD (chkdsk D:\ /f, chkdsk D:\ /p, and chkdsk D:\ /r) but none of them did the trick. Also the "/p" seems to be an invalid command for chkdsk? I cant seem to get it to partition in any utilities either.
Still cant format it using the adapter either in CMD or the regular Windows 7 interface.
There may also be an issue stemming from the possibility that I think its just acting as read/only. Is there a way to make it read/write? The option doesnt seem to show when i right-click on the briefly mounted sd card for its properties.
My last attempt last night was using Sandisk RescuePRO Deluxe. I started it around midnight and by 7am it was only at roughly 6.5% complete for some reason...arg.
Thoughts?

IIRC you will want to run cmd as administrator (by right clicking on its icon in the start menu). You should also look up some sort of guide if you haven't used it before.
Ughhhh
Still not working Im getting error messages not letting me format. It will select the disk though but then when i try to go further i get "diskpart has encountered an error"

Same issue happened with my ADATA card. I was able to recover the files by wiping the SD Card in TWRP first. Then recovering the boot partions/files using TestDisk. It worked for a while but ultimately, like Lehocki said, I had to get a new card. I was able to return it and get a replacement.
Weird, I had just had the same problem and am also using Tweaked 3.0. Interesting. I also had luck recovering many files using TestDisk,,,however several files were corrupted.

Hi Guys, I did a stupid thing last night and unplugged my SD card from the computer whilst wiping data on the card as it took ages to progress and I thought the application hung up. The sd card does appear mounted on the computer with the adapter but cannot access it. I used the following program to wipe data: easeus partition master. I wiped data(Tried at least) because I had issues with mounting the sd card on my nexus 5 with usb otg using stickmount. Edit: I've already formatted the sd card to fat32 days ago.

You cant do any of that on a non USB mass storage . You probably messed the driver and need to reinstall it again and maybe reflash cache.img to fix storage if the phone is softbricked.
Don't use any 3rd party desktop software to handle the storage in the nexus 5. direct access via explorer is all you need and cmd for adb and fastboot.
Hello,
did you try to reactivate the sd card with eg. gparted under Linux ? This tool is my first choice when it comes to editing partition information.
You don´t need to have a linux distribution installed, simply grab yourself a gparted live cd and you´re good to go :good:
