Might be getting a Sensation - Q on speeds - HTC Sensation

Ive been in the 3D forums since launch and I love the 3D but I cant handle Sprints 100k speeds and no answers from them - So I am likely moving to T-Mobile and the Sensation....
Can anyone tell me what speeds they get once you hit your "4G Limit"?
Is it useable at all after you hit your 2,5, or 10GB?
Thanks!

you're stuck at 2g after you hit your limit

Yeah, Ive read varying reports of that speed - around 200k??? Right now, Im lucky to even hit that on my Sprint Connection.

Yeah, around that. The max you'll get is about 300-400 Kbps. If you live in an area with good HSPA connectivity, you should get speeds from 5-7 Mbps down easily in you are within your cap.
This is my best result during peak hours.

Well I've heard some stories of being able to block the data throttling. That only works with perm root though... Not to mention it also only works on certain devices. Sensation could or could not be one of them. But speeds are as mentions above.

Thanks for the replies - I think we are going to swap tomorrow. Sounds like Edge would allow me to stream radio at the least - I checked my old AT&T account and it was rare that I went over 5, I was usually around 4.8GB
I do love the HTC 3D but with the seed Im getting, its like having a lamborghini and going up and down the driveway....
I did test the speed at 2 t-mobile stores in the area and low DL's were around 3000k and high around 5000k .... Im happy with 1500, so this is great

So, who turned on HSPA+

So today I gave my Inspire 4G a mobile speed test, and I consistently picked up 4-6Mbps down, about 1Mbps up. I tried a few servers and sites, and still the same.
Do I dare say ATT is finally finishing that back haul of their HSPA+ network?
Or is it my flashed radio with custom ROM
I was having a weird issue with server thinking i was in K.C. area at first, but the new Speedtest.net app. in marketplace took care of that.
I live in Sacramento, all seems to be working well on this end. (im impressed? maybe amazed is a better word heheh)
Ill post a test result from the phone in a min.. (syncing PHISH NYE atm) (~)}]
I was lucky to get 1Mbps down, and a measly .2Mbps up before.
I get 3.2 mbps down and 2up with Rogers.
Let me edit my first post LOL i was never getting 4-6 M down w/ the 4g.
2-3++ consistently. I did get over 6 but i had my wifi on. DUH WINNING.
What is range for 4g speeds?
Heres two speedtests w/ marketplace app just now.
2.6 D .375 u
3.2 D .335 u

AT&T says that with 4G you will constantly get an average of 6MBPS download. So you will most likely get more than 6MBPS for each test you do.

[Q] 4g connection issue-keep dropping down to 2g

I just got the 200mb data plan It support 4g
but HTC sensation keep dropping down to 2g
I read from other site to change the sim card and i did still it keep dropping
i try WCDMA ONLY for the network 4g will stay connected but then my phone signal will drop
its been a known issue for this phone i mean its is the best phone on tmobile right now but what is the point if it keep dropping connection
does anyone know how to fix it
i read somewhere that it has to do with the signal band as well
Same here, but mine does this once in a while. Not often.
Shoot I thought I was the only one.....what speeds are you guys receiving over the "4G" network?
i call tmobile up but they didn't seem to help much at all
i mean if i have to go outside to use 4g what is the point
i have 4bars signal inside the house just that it keep switching to 2g
someone told me 4g connection is separate from phone signal
but if so then how come when i switch to WCDMA ONLY mode i get 4g connection, how come my phone signal drop to 0 bar
I get it very rarely as I said. I'm getting good speed over 4G:

im on my third sim card and still had spotty 4G coverage...installed the new InsertCoin RC1 2.3.4 and it seems to be working great now...
@OP, is this your first 4G phone? If not, what kind of signal were you getting before? If you get good 4G on another phone but not this one ask for a warranty replacement.
Is this only happening in your home is it everywhere you go? If it's everywhere, see previous question.
If it's in your home only Where do you live? Call T-Mobile and ask about the new 3G in home repeater. It's being trialed in a few markets but I can't remember which ones. Maybe you qualify for one if your having signal issues in your home.
this is my first 4g phone
what is InsertCoin RC1 2.3.4
i would like to try see if it work for my phone

speedtest.net app fixed

when i first got my AT&T htc one x, the speedtest.net app would crash every time during the upload test,
but after using the RUU to the 1.82 and then rooting, and then debloat/debranding the device, it appears the speedtest.net is now working during the upload test and shows the resulting speed in the end...
not sure what part of that process fixed it, probably the debranding, or maybe the app was updated im not sure.. just letting people know what i've found
it always worked for me but good info for the people that do have problems with it
I'm still totally stock, and the Speedtest app works just fine. 32 Mbps up and 21 Mbps down, daaaamnnnn!
Always had worked for me. Getting still my epic blazing 4g LTE speeds 58.45 Mbps down and 25.93 Mbps up. This is 2.5X faster then my home connection.

thanks for that update because i have the exact same problem with the speedtest app. I will try these things because I was about to return it for Galaxy Note.

Yesterday I hit ~53 down. I honestly almost crapped my pants. I have 15down/1up at home. Also, if you go to results, you can email the result which also provides a link to a much smaller image of the test.
...my rogers 4g wireless only hit 4M DOWNLOAD AND 1M UPLOAD, WHY WHY WHY!!!

Because that's actually HSPA+, not true 4G LTE.

RT still slow wifi speeds

Good evening everyone,
I decided to look into improving speeds over wifi when remoting to my laptop(trying to play Diablo 3 from RT). I recall before February patch Tuesday that there were some issues with wifi, so I assumed that there would be no problems post patches. I decide to run some tests over speedtest.net and I noticed this drastic difference.

Router: Buffalo N300 <-link
Changed network mode(A/B/G/N). Changed channels/Channel width. Only thing I'm running into issues with is upgrading the firmware on the router(talking to buffalo about it now). Im willing to bet that I am missing/overlooking something simple as **** but I cant seem to figure it out.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Holy ****sack, you've got 10x better download speed than I've ever had! Why does the world hate me...
Also back to the question at hand, I've also had a problem like this, even though the Surface has two network cards it's still slow, slower than other PC's in the house, I just guess this is another problem Microsoft will have to fix.

Its got a single network card with a dual tuner. Not two network cards.
As for the download speed. My home download speed is measured in kilobits per sec, I don't even get half a megabit, let alone 11.

Oh sorry, I'm sure I read that somewhere but cheers for giving me clarity. ?
I think you are right with MS needing to optimize a bit.
Another problem I notice is that being in a larger apartment building, there are a TON of networks. I will just have to do some tinkering to see what can be done.
I have to resurrect this thread as this problem, at least for me and a few fellow RT owners, still isn't solved at all. Under 8.0 as well as the 8.1 Preview and the final version the WiFi speed seems to be stuck at a maximum of 65 Mbps.
So far I tried various AP's and different settings: n-only, 2.4/5GHz, encryption disabled, channel width 20/40, etc. but all without success. Also a complete re-install of the Surface RT didnt help as well as the numerous times I have refreshed.

IF your 3G internet download is ridicolously slow..

Thought I put this here, in case someone has the same issue.
Just got my Orange UK S4. Orange also run a 4G network called EE, and my phone is EVR ie EE network coded.
My contract is NOT on the 4G network, since I didnt need it.
My first attempt at using the internet connection (away from wifi) was a download of a 1.5meg PDF attachment in the email app, and it was ridiculous slow, like it took 5 mins
Also the browser was not responding or downloading data at all.
So had a brain wave and went into network settings/more networks/mobile networks/network mode/ and changed from 2g/3g/4g, to "2g/3g"
and this solved the issue perfectly.
I think the problem is that in the 4G mode, the phone keeps trying repeatedly (like for every packet) to connect in 4g, and gets rejected by the network, so downshifts to 3g or HDSPA for downloading one packet, and repeats the whole merry cycle...
Hope this might some confusion for others in the future.
More likely that the phone was camped onto an Orange 3G bts initially. By swapping network type selection you forced it to pick up a tmobile site....remembering that tmobile and orange share each others networks now under the banner of EE.
A lot of orange sites were never that fast anyway, even worse now the join with tmobile. They are relying a lot more on the tmobile 3G sites.

On T-Mobile here and switching LTE off makes absolutely no difference to my speeds :/ Ran a test with LTE on and off and I get 10Mb on and off.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
No probs on 3 network :good:

OP here!
The first download was crazy slow, 1000 times slower than when I was on the pure Orange network, but it seems fixed now, and on my new rom flashed yesterday, it seems ok.
Completely agree about the orange/EE service at present. It has become terrible, I think they are shoving all subscribers onto one network, and its becoming harder to make a call without it dropping etc... And this is in West London!
