how many accounts to do you have sync'd to the phone? gmail, facebook, sense (etc)
and do you have the networks and locations all checked, for navigation etc.
I Didnt have the VZW location checked just standalone and Google I took standalone off and checked VZW is that right or should I have all 3??

You can use whatever you want. I leave google location services enabled and then I enable standalone gps whenever I need it (ie. Navigation, maps, etc.)
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Ok so I can turn the vzw one off to?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
you can turn them all off, just back on if you need navigation.
Oooo ok thanks!

pretty sure that shouldnt be draining the battery like that. check the accounts that are set to sync on your phone (gmail, facebook) and see the interval that each is set to refresh.
It was set to 1hr I switched it to 4 maybe that should help

And my weather was set at 15mins switched it to 2 he's

so all you have syncing is gmail and weather?
I had to turn everything off, message stopped.

It seems to just show up and it will stay until I reboot. Kind of annoying. It does work right when I'm refreshing Facebook or whatever, the icon will show up than disappear but other times I wont even be using my phone, ill pick it up, unlock it, and the icon will be there.

I figured it was something like that but man, the icon seems to never away unless I reboot. Thanks.

well it could be that whatever is syncing/refreshing is syncing all the time (which is gonna drain battery) or is broken (and may also drain battery...though it could just accidentally lave the symbol up)
you might want to find out what's going on.
Go to your accounts and the account that is syncing will have a spinning sync symbol.

If I leave gps off, my battery is great an maps doesn't show up in battery usage. But if I leave gps on, I get this. I've never touched latitude so not sure why this is happening.

Do you have Google Now installed? Mine started showing up once I installed Now because it would look for my location.
But my battery hasn't suffered at all, really. Maps just shows up now
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
No don't have Google now. I went into settings in maps and then location settings. I then turned location reporting to do not report. I'm gonna try this an see if it fixes it.

Does anyone know why Phone app would be using data? And what exactly is HTC Apps? My best guess is weather etc but not sure.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
It might be for your contacts stored online. Do you have pictures for your contacts?
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
When you click on the app do you get any details?
I don't see phone in the ICS native data manager, but I do see it with the app I use: my data manager, but it won't give me detail on the usage.
The only thing I can think of is Facebook syncing. It pulls status messages down etc.

Nah there's no real info when I click it. But I think you might be right about the Facebook syncing, that's a he'll of a lot of data (70mb) in a few days though!

When I checked my Wi-Fi usage it had almost twice the amount for phone.
I turned off "live feed" and calendar sync in my Facebook account settings. I'll see if than makes any difference.

Yeah I'll do that too, thanks for your help man.

A couple days ago I checked my data usage and Google services alone totaled to ~12gb for a 10 day span of time. I decided to try and wipe/reflash (I'm running black bean v6) but now it's been 14 hours since i reflashed and I'm already back up to 377mb. I keep my data off unless I'm using it and I have all my Google sync turned off. Any ideas?

Potentially google now? Other than that I am not sure why that would happen

I don't use any Google+/now

Do you sync photos? Perhaps instant upload or picasa albums?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
I use Now and it doesn't use anything like that.
If I look at even one whole month of data usage history Google Services has only used about 5Mb - and that's cellular and wifi combined.
Do you stream media or anything ? It seems like some kind of a mistake or error to me, but maybe not.
I have Google using crazy amounts of data too. I think it has something do with Google Backup. You could try Backup off from Settings>Backup and Reset
I don't know if that solves the problem buts it's worth a shot I guess...

That's the weird thing I don't have any Google sync no photos nothing even my email is set to manual sync. I keep my data off the majority of the day. I don't use navigation services at all.

How can I figure out what it's sending?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
i always disabled google access collection of data
Wow, 12 Gbs for sinc only..?!
How many accounts do you have..?
Just one account. Background data is restricted, picasa is disabled, Google backup& sync is turned off

Hello can someone please explain to me why backup wake lock is constantly causing my battery to drain and is there anyway to resolve this apart from taking the backup option off as this would delete everything from the Google servers

Anyone?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
The only time I saw this was with the EntriesRefresh googlesearch wakelock.
It doesn't happen anymore, I did 2 things: turn off Google photos auto sync and I let the wifi on all the day (even when I'm not using it)
No more Google wakelocks !

Try using the juice defender
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Have you tried first unselecting all google syncs (mail, calendar, drive, google+, etc...) and then reselecting only those you need? Also try disabling Google backup service for a while..
Yeh I tried u checking the backup box but didn't make any difference I will try juice defender and see how that goes for
Thanks for your replies
