[Q] Hannspree Hannspad SN10T1 recovery - General Questions and Answers

Hello.
After recent acquisition of a Hannspad tablet i decided to install ubuntu desktop on it. Starting from the basics, clockworkmod was needed to be installed. As this tables is a replica of the gtablet , following this tutorial was mandatory. viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com
After installing clockworkmod from that tutorial for the 1.2 branch, i discovered that the softbuttons from the right side were broken, only buttons working for clockworkmod were the up/down (vol+, vol-).
So another recovery.img was neeeded. NVflash for nvidia tegra 250 was downloaded. When trying to understand the program, i issued the default command residing in a batch file, in the nvflash dierctory root " nvflash.exe --bct flash.bct --setbct --bl bootloader.bin --configfile flash.cfg --odmdata 0x3c000011 --create --go " ( still wonder why i did that ).
After this, the tablet became unresponsive, except for the apx mode. Only thing working was the power button. So i downloaded the bootloader for gtablet. After loading that bootloader, the tablet will start for half a second, but restart immediately. No recovery mode, no booting, just the backlights staying up for half a second.
My answer is, if anyone has any time and patience to help me and others who might encounter the thread, is there something that can be done to bring back the device?
Thanks !

yeah, you´ve 2 options : first you delete the partition and tell them you don´t know anything...
or install win 7/ or use ubuntu

Second option

I don't think that win7 can be installed on an arm processor. As for ubuntu, i will try to install it, but i have to learn more about the post/storage/arm cpu in order to bring the tablet back to life.
Can anyone direct me to some resources on how to install an os on an arm architecture?
I tried to find the resources, but in no avail.
Thanks .

hmmm .. im really interested in this thread.
i also have this tablet and i would want to try some different roms but dont see any support for it anywhere (for the tablet).
hope u manage to recover ur device..
ill be watching this thread .

okay it´s easy....
download the update 4789 etc. from hannspree, rename just update, take zip file(update) into root of your external device than boot ( push volumen up+ and power button 5 seconds) than should the system reboot with old settings, if nothing happens try with ac adapter and usb.
@fxandrei : i try to install win 7,bootlloader etc. if you know something or have honeycombfiles/updates etc. pls say it thx

Thank you, i will try as you instruct and come back with feedback.

good luck ..

@RootRightUser
i dont .
im looking for stuff like this.
im hopping that this tablet gets some support (like acer iconia or asus eee transformer).

Any news on it? I am on a worst scenario, the one where one decide to use nvflash_gtablet...zip on the Hannspad (modify partition scheme, and worst cbt )
I can't boot, or rescue anymore, and trying to recover the partition scheme seems to end in only APX mode to work (no more wolume up or down + power working)
Reflashing nvflash_gtablet restore viewsonic start screen but that's all...
I need a fresh and complete dump of hannspad SN10T1 (cbt+partitiontable+every partition dump)

For those interrested, with the help of people from slatedroid and forum.hardware.fr, I've been able to recover my tablet (not stock 12 patitions, but a good working 10 partitions images).
You can find instructions and the full package (rom 1.2.1-4789 + Linux and windows nvflash +drivers for windows + scripts) there:
I can't post URL so go to
www-DOT-slatedroid-DOT-com/topic/20148-hannspree-hannspad-sn10t1-rom-dump
For now, I can give you my Recovery for Hannspad (put you directly to 1.2.1-4789 Hannspree)
Instructions:
Connect your PC and Tablet with the usb cable
Put your device in APX mode.
APX mode is obtained, whe you have bricked your device, or when doing the following:
tablet is off and you start it by pressing and maintaining volume down + power button, it must power on and go to a black screen, it it goes to a freezed boot log or a work in progress image, the try wolume up + power button.
Linux:
You can see if your device in APX under linux by doing a lsusb, if you can see a line with:
Bus XXX Device YYY: ID 0955:7820 NVidia Corp.
So now you have a APX connexion with your tablet.
Download Recovery-SN10T1-1.2.1-4789.zip (link at bottom of post)
Extract it where you want, and execute ./nvflash_sn10t1.sh
After it is finished powerdown th tablet, do the opposite combo key (volume up or down + power for 3-4 seconds) and make a wipe data/factory reset.
You can restart, you have a stock rom (10 partitions only, not stock firmware)
Windows
Download Recovery-SN10T1-1.2.1-4789.zip
Extract it where you want
Now boot your tablet in APX mode:
APX mode is obtained, when you have bricked your device, or when doing the following:
tablet is off and you start it by pressing and maintaining volume down + power button, it must power on and go to a black screen, it it goes to a freezed boot log or a work in progress image, the try wolume up + power button.
Now connect your PC and the tablet by USB cable. Windows should search for drivers, it won't find it so you can cancel the windows update search. Now go to device properties (right click on computer and manage), and make it install the driver included in the zip. Now you must be able to execute nvflash_sn10t1.bat
After it is finished powerdown th tablet, do the opposite combo key (volume up or down + power for 3-4 seconds) and make a wipe data/factory reset.
You can restart, you have a stock rom (10 partitions only, not stock firmware).

many thanks
Thanks, that fixed the problem. Although the tablet is working, the quest to have Ubuntu on the tablet is still on the table(some pun intended). On slatedroid forum there are some folks with the exact same ideea, so, let,s hope that running x11/Ubuntu on sn10t1 will happen.

Cant boot into recovery
Hello'
Am sorry if I have posted this in the wrong thread.
I have a 53 version Hannspad and I was able to successfully install Flashback 7.2 onto it.
Everything was well until yesterday when I installed Rom Manager from the market and installed Gtab flash recovery by choosing first option in the rom manager and then selecting Gtab from the list (the list had Advent Vega' Elocity A7' etc).
It said "flashed successfully" and I almost forgot about it until yesterday when I decided to install fards Gtabcomb 3.3_refresh. Now I am unable to boot into either CWM recovery or stock recovery. The tablet boots and runs just fine just doesn't go into recovery. It says 'Recovery key detected' and gets struck though I can boot and use the tablet. I am writing this using the tablet. My main probelm with Flashback is that it doesn't allow me to download apps via market.
Please suggest me how to get CWM back.
Thank you

Help please! My device wont enter apx mode... it does open the recovery mode every time and i can't make modifications because the side buttons aren't working aswell.

I thank everybody for there hard work to get these problems solved, I do have a good one :
I tried to flash Recovery-SN10T1-1.2.1-4789.zip and it excuted ok on my hannspad I saw the Hannspree logo, than the Tap N Tap running logo .. but now the Hannspad didn't startup, it came in a loop of the Tap N Tap screen, after 4 times the screen became blank (only the green powerlight showing) .
Now I read i had to do a Data wipe (go into recovery mode) .. but After (hard) reboot and pushing the +/- button it just goes to APX mode and no recovery (stock nor CWM) i just can't seem to nvflash any recovery.img to make the thing work ..
I would love to have some help, i would really appreciate it

Sadly enough there isn't much of a Hpad community @XDA, so for help with your problem you might be better of in the [email protected] forums or, depending on your language skills at android-hilfe or hannspad.fr. All three have excellent recovery guides. Good luck.

You're a lifesaver!

[Q] I need help! My TF got stuck and can't boot into recovery!!!

My Tf got stuck at the logo Eee Pad boot after I tried to restore the old rom, and now it can't do anything except boot and stuck at the logo.
I tried the nvflash unbricking technique from rayman84 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123429
, but my TF only listed as unknown device when I tried to get to APX mode and it also said,
"This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29)"
Now I don't know what else to do. Please help! I hope I am not completely bricked the device yet.
Have you tried the button combo to get into recovery?
Press and hold the Vol down + power button.
When prompt, you'll see lines of words at the top left of the screen, push the Vol up button immediately within 5 sec to get into recovery.
Apparently, I didn't know the button combo. Anyways you save my niece's TF. Thanks a bunch
Edit: although the tablet is working now, it still got the message usb unknown device. Do you know how to fix it?
Hi, i don't know if i should post a new thread but my problem is almost the same as bengob3t's one.
I have a brand new TF101 with a B70 Serial number, but i successfully rooted it using the RazorClaw Tool. Then i tried to install clockwork mod followin this topic : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106587
I directly applied the instructions from step 8 (download hashmyfiles etc...) and i rebooted my Eee pad manually step 13
I didn't see any progress bar, but my device is stuck on the Asus screen, and the speakers make stange noises at regular intervals.
I am able to go into recovery though (power + vol down then vol up) but the factory reset doesn't work, and i cant really do anything (at least not anything that i know what it is).
Is my tablet definitely bricked ? If not, how can i bring it back to life ?
I wasn't able to use NVFlash, as i can't seem to go in APX mode. I press power+vol up, i hear the sound usb device connected and immediately after i hear the sound "usb device disconncted"
Nvflash says
"Nvflash started
rcm version 0X4
Command send failed (usb write failed)"
Thanks in advance for your help.
EDIT : When i put the micro sdcard from my phone into the tablet, i am able to mount it. So i will probably be able to flash something from it, but what ? Do i have to flash a recovery ? Directly a custom rom ?
I'm a little lost, but i'll try to give you guys as mush info as i can find.
EDIT2 : I flashed the PRIME rom, everything seems to be back to normal... if you got info on my situation, don't hesitate to fill me in ^^ i'd like to understand what i did wrong, even though i dodged the bullet.

Do you have the correct driver installed? Do you have Asus sync install on your PC?
hmm.. I'm not sure. I downloaded the unbricked tool nvflash file, and the tool already had usb driver inside it. Is that the driver you were talking about? I never were able to get to the point where I need to point the APX to where the driver located because it always said unknown driver the whole time.

No Recovery Mode - Flashing through Computer

Hi
I have an ASK 748SP tablet, model info "crane-evb v13" with Android 2.3.4 installed.
I have not had success with flashing a recovery mode.
My device is not on the ROM Manager list.
flash_image responds with "Error scanning partitions: No such file or directory."
The device was strangely rooted when I bought it from the retailer. The instruction manual strangely says to boot into recovery mode by holding Vol + and the power button. I called the support company and they said that a recovery needs to be installed first. Using Root Explorer there is no recovery folder. (/recovery) - is there supposed to be?
Sorry if all of that doesn't make sense. I'm a noob around here.
So my question is how can I flash a recovery mode on my device OR how do I flash a ROM via my computer? (and make backups.)
PS: I do not have fastboot and am hopeing to upgrade to ICS.
Any help would much be appreciated. Thanks.
Have you found anything out yet?
I purchased a 5 point capacative screen 7 inch tablet from Ebay (NEW) about 4 weeks ago. The name of this tablet is Tablet PC (LOL). But under About Device and model number I get the same crane-evb-v13, Android 2.3.4, Kernel Version 2.6.36-android. Other than a minor issues with a keyboard, a retarded partioning, and getting Netflix to stay in sync (voices and video out of sync) the unit has been fast, responsive, and over all good considering I paid $128 new for it.
Have you made any head way as to if this unit can be rooted?
My tablet surprisingly came rooted like I said, I have tried rerooting it but didn't succeed. Unfortunetly I have bricked my device but hope to recover it soon.
@I get the same crane-evb-v13, Android 2.3.4, Kernel Version 2.6.36-android
I have Android 2.3.4 too (or should I say I did, ) Kernal Version 2.6.36-android, and I too have minor issues with the keyboard.
Retarded partitioning - I think so too - once again - flash_image failed, I seem to have /mnt/sdcard instead of /sdcard. The sdcard is built in which kind of confuses me.
Thanks for your reply, hope you can get your device rooted. If you find anyway to install recovery mode, please tell me.

Meiying M10 8Gb RK2918

Hi all
Tried to install on Meiying M10 8GB CyanogenMod
When it start touchscreen won't go.
any idea?
I also tried using Oma_Odys_Loox_JB_4.1.1_v1.2.2a with same problem
Now when connectin in cwn windows detect it , but RKAndroidTool cannot detect it
windows detect it as Android ADB Interface ( harware id USB\Vid_18d1&Pid_d001&Rev_0222&MI_01)
I suppose I'd need to reflash kernel
Can flash only with zip from sd at cwm.
Thanks for your help
regards
Sirio
I too have a Meiying M10 and have flashed it to have no touchscreen. I have tried over 150 different kernels to get the TS back but none of them have worked to get the TS back. Most don't boot at all and some are faster than others etc. I have a folder with the working kernels I've found so far.
As for your device showing up as the wrong device, you need to have the rockchip drivers installed and boot the tablet in a specific order to make the RKTools find the tablet to allow flashing.
To do that:
1. plug in both power and usb to pc
2. hold the "M" button on the side of the tablet and press the reset button in the pin hole. with some kernels it's both the "M" button and the "+" button instead of just the "M" button.
3. rktools should now find the tablet.
If you have the CRM on there where it boots to a menu screen when you press the button combination listed above, you have to go to "Advanced" and then to "Reboot Recovery" then hold then buttons down and it should boot to the RKtools flash.
I have had to hack and modify drivers to make this work. If you still cannot get it working I believe I can put the drivers together.
Did you by chance, backup the original image of the device? If you did can you get me at least the original kernel so I can work to get the TS drivers out?

Need help with xoom, possible brick

First,
I really want to thank everyone for their support in this forum. Everyone has been amazing.
I was trying to bring my MZ601 back to stock yesterday. Something bad happened during fastboot and asked me if I wanted to unlock my device. Then the screen locked up and didnt do anything. I rebooted the device and now it gets stuck in a boot loop with the EOS symbol (last rom I installed). When I enter recovery there is nothing there, all of my data is gone.
Worse the device is not recognized on my computer nor can it be found in adb fastboot. I have updated motorola drivers, but I think the device never gets past a certain point in order to be found.
Can somebody please help me.
Thanks,
Pretty impossible to brick XOOM's but i'll ask the basics. Can you get into recovery from a cold boot? Can you get into fastboot from a cold boot?
By the sounds of it you've just corrupted your rom or tried to re-unlock the device which would cause the entire sdcard partition to be erased.
Boot XOOM into Recovery, Fastboot, or RSD mode
So you need to get into Recovery to backup your XOOM (you do nandroid don't you?). Or perhaps you were working on creating new levels of awesome and something happend and you find yourself staring at the Motorola Dual Core boot screen with your XOOM refusing to boot any further. Fear not, you are only a few clicks away from finding your way back into recovery or fastboot goodness.
Turn your XOOM off
Press Power to turn your XOOM back on
When the Motorola Dual Core boot screen appears tap Volume Down repeatedly until "Android Recovery" is displayed
Press Volume Up to enter Recovery
You can also choose from Fastboot protocol support and RSD mode by using the same method but instead selecting their respective menu prompts.
Note:
If your XOOM is caught in bootloops or you find yourself stuck in RSD mode or Fastboot Protocol support you can hardware reboot your XOOM by pressing and holding Volume Up + Power until the tablet reboots (usually a few seconds but could be longer).

Hi,
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, it seems that I have caused the entire sd card partition to be erased. That mean when I trry to fastboot my device is not recognized. Also, i cannot add anything to my xoom through usb. I have tried to flash through the external sd card, but to no avail. What do I have to do?
What does your xoom show up as when plugged into your pc APX? Can you boot into fastboot mode. with power off press power and volume down until you see fastboot.

Hi thanks for the reply to my message.
Unfortunately I cannot find my device when it is plugged into my computer (PC). It does not show up on my computer nor in the device manager. I can start the fastboot protocol on my device by rebooting, but I also cannot find my device in ADB.
Thanks for the reply, but I am still very stuck.
are you sure your device is in fastboot ? did you reinstall the drivers, try with another usb cable, adb shoud see the device after the drivers were installed correctly ...

I did everything I have done before. I have setup android sdk, java, and motorola drivers on two different PCs. Both fail to find my device when i type ADB devices nor does ADB reboot bootloader work. I tried the different cable, but that also did not work.
Hi,
I see that your problem is quite hard, try doing this:
1 - Force your tablet to shut down (vol+ + Power)
2 - Turn on while holding the vol- button
3 - Keep pressing vol-
4 - Plug on your PC and try fastboot devices, adb won't work!
5 - If 4 didn't work, keep trying until it does
6 - Install a Stock ROM (so you will solve your problems)
If the above don't work, contact me via PM, so we can talk easily (maybe GTalk or something like this). Good Luck

I took your advice and just used fastboot. Then I flashed the stock rom I wanted to use. My xoom is back up and running. I really appreciate the tip.
Also thank you to everyone that responded in the post, again, that is why I love coming here.

[Q] Eken t02/t02a equivalent stuck in boot, can't access recovery mode

Bmorn V11, Goclever A73, Eken T02, Aldi Minitab, MyAudio Tablet Series 7, ASK 748SP at the very least look the same and are probably the same tablet. So much so that I ordered a Bmorn touchscreen for my ASk tablet and it worked. ...until I factory reset it from settings a few weeks ago, since then it started freezing up ocasionally and now I get stuck at one of the 3 boot logos but I never see it boot all the way. I hope it's not hardware failing.
I found a button behind the microphone pin-hole after trying vol + and power + home and the like for hours. Can someone please tell me how I get into what i presume is called recovery mode ? I tried pushing that hidden button with the power button, but it doesn't work. Is there even a recovery mode for this device ?
Someone claims there is no recovery mode and vol + and power should work ? So what's the deal with the button behind the mic hole ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406429 "The device was strangely rooted when I bought it from the retailer. The instruction manual strangely says to boot into recovery mode by holding Vol + and the power button. I called the support company and they said that a recovery needs to be installed first. Using Root Explorer there is no recovery folder. (/recovery) - is there supposed to be?"
I'm on linux, do I really need windows to flash this ? If I fail, can I try again ? I used to get along computers really well, but android is currently totally confusing me. I found several images that might work, but I really don't mind trying out unofficial images. If I can try them one by one I'll figure it out eventually, but I'm afraid I might brick it or something. I've read about flashing bootable SD cards, but I guess that won't work here ? Nor will the images that are supposed to be flashed to an SD card work ?
I guess I'll have to bet on an image and find a Windows (I'm on Linux) machine and the rest is trial and error ?
Is there a page somewhere I could read to figure out the basics ? I feel really confused by all of this. Thank you !
I also found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23769918&postcount=3 which explains how to flash this, but maybe i don't need to go through that if there is a recovery mode ? And it also seems like those instructions are for t01, and it doesn't involve that hidden button at all. I guess this isn't what i need, right ?
I guess this should work:"Turn off your tablet.
You will find upgrade button located in microphone hole on the right side of your device. Press this button using e.g. paper clip. Next connect your device to your PC while
holding upgrade button" (http://www.goclever.com/data/upload..._d4d0bde076ab401d6cb98bb1b77713165b6ffb11.pdf).
I can't turn off my tablet. All I can do is force it to quit by holding the power button for 5 seconds, is that enough ?
I managed to get adb and although lsusb lists the device, I can't connect to it with adb. After a minute or two lsusb doesn't show the device anymore either. Do I need to have debugging enabled or something ? I was hoping to reset it with
Code:
adb shell
recovery --wipe_data
