[Q] Temp Root & additional Fonts - HTC Sensation

I have rooted my Sensation using "Perma-Temp Root!!! Updated on 7/9*/2011" then copied sylfaen.ttf(Georgian Unicode) font to system/fonts directory, I checked with root explorer and font was in that directory, but after restart, font has disappeared. there is also app on the market which installs that font. but it needs reboot to take effect, so it couldn't help me.
on my rooted DHD with that application I added Georgian sylfaen to my phone, and it worked fine, after update was released of DHD, which has locked bootloaders, I made that update, my DHD was no more rooted but Georgian fonts were working.
now I have a question, why locked DHD has not deleted this font, and why Sensation deletes it after restart?

Changing Fonts on X10 [Rooted]

Today i have found out that the android font changing app "Type Fresh" available on the market works with our X10 too.
I have attached the screens with changed font from my rooted X10.
Below are the simple steps
1.Root your X10 and install SuperUser.
2.Install TypeFresh from market and grant super user permission.
3.Install AndExplorer from market(Type Fresh needs this for browsing files)
4.Before proceeding further Back up existing fonts using Type Fresh and Save the files in /sdcrd/fonts.
5.Add your desired .ttf file to /sdcard/fonts and apply using Type Fresh
Reboot the phone and you are done with changing the font
Thanks to XperiaX10iuser for the screens
Open up TypeFresh, and tap DroidSans-Bold...
...open up your desired font folder, and select the font you wish to use, so you now need to select DroidSans-Bold and press "ok".
...once you have done that for both DroidSans-Bold & DroidSans, it should look like this...
...then press the menu button, tap "Apply Fonts", and you should see...
...reboot, and enjoy your new font...
Simples
Thanks Bro!!! Another great reason too root! Wingdings, here I come!
Nice one.
Can go wrong though, i changed the fonts two times.
First time no problem, second time however the phone refused to boot further then the SE logo. Had to reflash and reroot.
Phone gets stuck at boot screen if the ttf is not compatible.
Below is the reply from the dev on the same context.
"As the README states, Android itself does not support all TTF fonts, so you probably have one that it doesn't like. Your only option is to just try a different one. I'm going to have a font viewer out VERY soon to make the selection easier."
Heres a link for the sony ericsson font

Is there any way to use the fonts from the Handcent Font packs?? Just a thought as these would all obviously be compatible with our phones.
Been doing some more reading on the topic or using fonts from downloaded apk's and it seems tricky. More specifically....out of my league.
I also can't seem to get my downloaded fonts to install. I have TypeFresh and AndExplorer and superuser has permissions. When I open typefresh it just shows a list of fonts there (that were already there I assume) and the only option I have is to backup? I can't find my other fonts. Anyone have any ideas?
Maybe there is a way to apply them using better terminal? Im still learning how to use it so If anyone knows how I could apply my downloaded fonts with it, it would be sincerely appreciated.
thanks again
Could we get a list together on the first post of the fonts that do work with the X10 and download paths for the ttfs?
The font in the first post is desyrel.ttf
I have tried 3 fonts and all of them worked well, the fonts are desyrel.ttf,chinacat.ttf and lacartooniere.ttf
brunswick000- If you have installed all the 3 apps (type Fresh,Andexplorer and superuser) , then you should be able to apply the downloaded fonts.
-In TypeFresh Just click on "Droid_Sans.ttf" from the list of font u are seeing and just browser to your ttf file in the opened browser.
Once done, just open the menu and select "Apply Font".
@jassired, thanks for the help. I got the new font working. Downloaded the Droid Logo font. Its pretty sweet looking. Now I just want to change my framework res pak to get rid of the SE blue every where. Learning so much already since we got root. I have to say I love android
The easiest way to change fonts is with the above files.
Tried and worked well.Have fun
Can i just use any (.ttf) font files i find?

Very interesting post.
The better way to avoid many flash of the phone to anyone, it's to make a list of the good TTF files.
Hey guys I just wanted to aks if you know where I can find the font from the Demo video included in any X10. I simply can't understand why Sony didn't let the phone with this font. it looks cooler and it's more interesting.
So can you help?

Changing fonts on 024 firmware - not working

Hey guys,
So I flashed the prerooted 024 firmware and the SIN files, all went smooth. Then I flashed the Eminence 1.6 resource mods, all smooth. I don't really like the default font of Eminence 1.6 so I went ahead and installed Typefresh and attempted changing the default fonts to the Sony Sketch font - and it isn't working.
Typefresh shows the 'fonts applied - reboot now' message, but post reboot the fonts remain the same as the default one with Eminence 1.6. I tried doing that multiple times with Typefresh and the font still doesn't change post reboot despite the 'fonts applied' message.
I also tried Font Changer Lite from the market - same issue - it confirms fonts are applied but no change post reboot.
Am I missing something here?
Never mind, I manually copied both the fonts in /system/fonts via RootExplorer and it worked after a reboot.
Thanks for reading.

ics font default?

What's the default fonts used on our ics leak? I want to replace it. I hate it. Font switcher doesn't work 100% and I get mixed fonts (when I'm odexed) but deodexed the current build I'm using I can't get busybox to install.
I manually renamed all my fonts in /system/fonts with all of my font of choice but it wouldn't boot even after fixing permissions. I replaced the Droid sans fonts and one more and it booted but weren't the correct ones.
Finally got busybox installed! Had to use superuser and go in preferences and update superuser version and that snuck busybox in. Then installed busybox anyway just in case through the installer.

[REQ] Desire Default Live Wallpaper

I've searched and I can't find it so I wonder it any one can help, I've just installed a Sense 4.0 ICS ROM but I really miss the default bokeh live wallpaper that came on the Desire by default, it was on the Sensation originally but it appears to have been dropped for the newest version of Sense. Does anyone know where I can get it for my newly updated Sensation?
I'm also looking for it... There's a bunch of bokeh look alike LWs but I want the original that came with my sensation.
If nobody has it would anyone know how to get it from old gingerbread Rom and port it to ics??
I use this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Urj5GW9AQF4
Thanks for the link but I'm a fan of the original... I managed to pull the apk from an ics rom running sense 3.6 the only problem is that on roms with sense 4 the apk doesn't install. Any ideas on how to get it to work?
Use Root Explorer or ES File Manager's root mode and push the apk to /system/app/
Then, change the permissions to match the permissions of all the other apks there, I believe it's RW R R, but just match it to the others. To change permissions in Root Explorer, hold your finger on the file and hit Permissions or whatever. Not sure if ES can do it, but it probably can.
After it's in /system/app and the permissions are edited, reboot and it should show up in the Live Wallpaper list.
Edit: If that doesn't work, look up the APK signer. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwyLDEsImtlbGxpbndvb2Quemlwc2lnbmVyMiJd This is ZipSigner 2 and it works perfectly. Sign the APK, then try to install it using a file manager or something, you know, install it like normal. If it still doesn't install after being signed, use the method above and push it to /system/app and change the permissions, then it should run without issues.

[Q] How to install Hindi/Devnagri fonts in KatKiss4.4.4

I just flashed KatKiss4.4.4 on my Tf101. It absoluetly smooth and lovely to use, except the Hindi/Devnagri are not pesent. I have already tried the following with no luck.
1. Installed (copied them in /system/fonts folder & rebooted the tab) DroidHindi.ttf & DroidSansFallback.ttf from a older version which supposedly supports hindi.
2. Tried an app from App store Fontoosh which claims to install hindi fonts for rooted device but didn't work
Any tips/pointers would help ?
If this not right place for the above query please point me to it.... Thanks
