with the rom based on cm7, I can choose the levels of brightness, there is a possibility to do the same thing with rom based on aosp?
It's a good thing for battery life..
Somebody can help me?

You can even choose the brightness level with the stock rom
What I like about custom roms is if they can - opposed to the stock one - dim down brightness w/o the need to turn off the display once (especially useful if using it for navigation). Oxygen can do that.

Hi!
We all know that Motorola changed the brightness settings in 2.2.2 so the screen is on 100% less bright then on 2.1 (eclair).
The same thing is on CM7.1 which I use.
So my question is, is there any way to "over"bright Defy-s screen? Or a way to use eclair screen brightness settings on CM7? I need more brightness, that's why I'm asking
Please reply, mihovil13.

I would greatly appreciate this if it can b done.
Anyone knows how?
I must say, I have not noticed a decrease in brightness at all.. Is there some proof? Did someone measure the strength, in lumen for instance?
My Defy shipped with froyo so idk about 2.1 but when i toggle brightness settings auto seemes to go just a little higher then full brightness for a sec so it does seem possible but i have no idea how. BTW im using CM7

Activate automatic brightness and edit the brightness levels to give full brightness (255) earlier or for all levels. The Motorola kernel enables a different brightness scaling (exponential instead of linear) when using the light sensor for whatever reason, which allows a higher total brightness as a side effect.

Still didn't manage to do this...
I've measured, on CM7.1 Ep3 rls max brightness is equal to 70% brightness on official 2.2.2 or 2.3.6

Ah that explains! I use a toggle to easily switch between auto and 100% brightness because in some circumstances the screen is hard to read (most notably when standing in the shade but close to an area with bright sunlight). I always noticed the difference in max brightness between both modes and apparently it has some mathematical reason.

Hello everyone.
Shorter version:
CM7
Pros:
1. Amazing battery life.
2. More options and settings (after all it is cm).
3. Nicer user interface.
4. Flash player 11 for arm6 is working perfectly.
5. No bloatware.
6. Fast enough and stable (not one fc so far).
Cons:
1. Front cam. Although back one is working fine it would be nice to have a front one as well. Minor issue though, I don't use it anyway.
2. Fm Radio is always turning my bluetooth on when I start it and use it. Don't know if it is supposed to do that but it is a real battery drain and I don't want to use 3rd party apps if that is even possible. This is a minor issue since I don't use it often.
3. Led notification turns green at 90% and more when charging and my phone tricked me to unplug quite a few times Also a minor issue.
4. Default automatic brightness is just terrible. I know that they can be modified through cm settings>display>automatic backlight but I am not sure what values to enter to get the best and optimum results. I just cannot get them quite right.
So, to conclude. Cm7 is just great and really ready for daily use. I only need to set up the automatic backlight properly and this is where I need your help. If anyone knows the best values for these settings, please, write them down in this or the original cm7 thread.
Best wishes
I've set the status bar notification for backlight to 25/50/75/100. I feel that these values suit every possible condition.

Hi Alex, you must have misunderstood me. I'm not talking about those settings. I don't want to adjust brightness manually. I'm talking about window length, reset threshold, sample interval and custom light sensor levels so my phone can automatically adjust brightness. These can be found in cyanogen settings>display>automatic backlight
Regards
Ah, ok then.. Unfortunately I did not have the patience required to set/tweak them.
Hey,
I know what's the difference between cafs and aosp kernels, but my question is about the difference between both Cyanogenmod-Roms...
I am using the aosp Rom, what reasons are there to switch to cafs?
Difference in Android/CM-Features?
Noticeable performance boost?
Can I just flash it over aosp-version like flashing the nightlies?
These are options within settings or easily seen differences I noticed and not how one feels vs the other.
You'll have to test that for yourself.
CAF: Ambient Display(Fully functional exactly as it works on the Nexus 6). Turning this on though breaks volume skipping tracks on 12.1. Works fine on 12.0
Color Options(Vivid, Standard, Custom)
In Performance Settings there is an option to automatically change the CPU clock speeds per app(not user definable).
No changeable settings in Performance Settings to the cpu speeds and governor.
Requires CAF TWRP.
AOSP: Downgrades the radio back to 5.0.2
Downgrades the bootloader back to 5.0.2
Low system UI sounds.
No Ambient Display
No Color Options(Vivid, Standard, Custom)
No per app option in Performance Settings.
Has changeable settings in Performance Settings for cpu speeds and governor.
Requires AOSP TWRP.
I've been flashing back and forth between them for days with no issues. If you do flash one over the other just don't post issues in the main thread until you've tried fixing them with a clean flash.

Thank you, I think I'll try caf...
Ambient display is reason enough to switch ?active display does not always work as expected...
Hi everyone. I'm experiencing problems with the auto brightness, I set it at half but it often gets much brighter for a couple of seconds then scales down to where I put it. After a while back over again. This happens in the same exact position and low light condition. Doesn't happen with higher brightness demands. Tried to toggle off every screen auto feature (like ambient display,...) but nothing changes. Tried adjusting both auto level and non-auto level, thought it might conflict, but all to no avail. Got any clues? Thanx

Hi, I need a kernel that would work perfectly with Paranoid Android 7.1.2 that would increase my charging speeds and wouldn't decrease my performance. (I tried Lighting Kernel, it increased my charging speeds but camera stopped working and performance decreased a bit).
And, is it possible to change the look of quick settings? Like change background from gray to white and etc.?
You need to use lightning kernel's OOS version if you want the camera to work.
You should be able to change the quick settings look using the built-in color engine.
Whatever kernel you use on it, PA is just not stable. Apps will not work and there will be a huge background battery drain.

Color Engine only changes the color of brightness slider. About PA, there wasn't an app that woudn't work for me and battery seems pretty good apart charging but this problem appers to be even on stock ROM on OPO.
