Who needs notification led when.... - T-Mobile LG G2x

Dude I'm in love with the notifications capacitor buttons I've been using them since the guy from 2x forums made the app and still using them on CM7.
Just an amazing implementation.
I lovr how I see the lights lid up while I'm working and know that there is something waiting for me
Just wanted to share aand encourage those of you who have not use this before and are missing notification led that this is pretty sweet.
Works flawlessly as well
For those of you running stock, you can simply download it from the market and will be ready to go.

This is implemented in cm7, you no longer need the app running in background checking for notification waisting battery.

That little program is much better than the notification light I now have on the Sensation. At least, on the G2x it is. The Sensation's notification light is darn near hidden whereas I can see the led light on the G2x lights pretty much wherever I have it laying.

No problem man

i dunno. i kinda find the leds annoying. i turn those off and just look at the notification. unless i'm missing something that you all are not.

@above: Well at least we have options.
One thing I find weird is that there isn't even a charging light. I plug it in and there is no feedback. The screen doesn't even pop on. I have to manually turn on the screen and check to make sure everything is good before I go to bed.
Notification LED's, meh. The way I see it is that I'm going turn the screen on and check anyway.
Although, as far as Notifications go, the OP's mention is a good solution for stock users. CM7 users have this built in on the kernel level so it consumes less battery. The above method is a battery eater, hence why CM7 built it in to the kernel vs having an app running in the background.

How about this great development team?

I'm so excited to see the development thread going strong. It's making me love my Infuse even more.
Any ideas/requests?

i'm not sure i fully understand the purpose/use behind bln. can anyone point me in the right direction to find out how to effectively use this, and explain what it's for?
edit: nvm, i found some videos that explain it.
good that there is soo much cooperation. the kernels are truly community built.
One of the downsides of this phone is no notification light, but with BLN when you get a notification the bottom lights light up.

NoLED in the market also works great but may drain battery more quickly than BLN. Between the two, it certainly makes up for the missing notification led. I don't understand why Samsung is against providing a true led notification.

It's significantly higher drain than BLN.
on the topic of bln you can use tasker to turn on the led flash for notifications, it is a little obnoxious though.
Having no LED notification truly bothers me. That's one of my favorite features of my old X10.
But, am I able to use the Defuse kernel on GTG's Infused rom? Anyone tested/confirmed?

[Q] Making a notification light

can anyone either make me a app that makes the camera flash a notification light or point me in the right direction on how to make it myself? I am not very good at coding but I'm willing to try to learn. I know a little java and html, although it's been a while for both so i doubt they will be much good to me. Thanks!
you try noled yet? its pretty nice and almost (almost!!) makes me not miss having a notification light.
Or just maybe make the lights on the buttons below the screen go off......

this would be awesome however I think its only doable through some custom kernel work which isn't possible as of yet since imnuts and other kernel devs have no source code

How is Noled on the battery though? I tried it on my fascinate and it seemed to eat through the battery. This has been almost a year ago though.
NoLED will slightly lower your battery life, but it's the only option we have right now. We just can't get true BLN without the source code.

It does eat your battery because it unlocks your phone. That said, it does have the option to stop itself after a set time frame. I'm never away from my phone for more than five minutes, so that works for me.
I have the proximity sensor setting on for NoLED and it saves the battery a ton! The screen stays off when it's in your pocket or holster and shows the notification as soon as you take it out. NoLED is honestly the best app I have on my charge. I love seeing the icon of the notification rather than having to remember what app was yellow or blue!
BLN seems pointless on this phone. The back light on the buttons is too weak to even notice it during the day. Which I did enjoy BLN on my fascinate, but seems like it wouldn't work very well on the charge.

That's not at all true if you're indoors. The button backlight is plenty noticeable even under fluorescent lights, and would be even moreso flashing.
I could be wrong but I believe this (BLN or back LED flash) is only possible through some custom kernel work, and since we have no kernel source code yet it can't be done... your best bet now, at the cost of battery life, would be noLED
blazing through on my VZ Droid Charge 4G
Ya it is a custom mod for a kernel. Could be cherry picked into the froyo kernel source from neldar's github.
Fyi I am having IMoseyOn take a look into it since the people have spoken

[Q]Notification led light

Does the skyrocket have a notification light for missed calls, SMS, etc...or itps there a way to get it working?
Sent via rooted SkyRocket
There's no notification LED on the device.
Just use NOLED from the Market or XDA.
Just tried noled, and it doesn't work...it also lagged the a$&% out of my phone...anyone else got this to work on the skyrocket?
Sent via rooted SkyRocket
when I had the OGSGS2 I also tried NoLED as well. It was a pain in the arse to work with.
it was only compatible with Widgetlocker and the Samsung's unlock screen always gave it trouble (double unlock). Go SMS Pro pop-up would over sees NoLED... etc..etc..
Essentially I was pretty fed up with trying to get everything to coexist.
The only other alternative is wait for a kernel with BLN support on the SkyRocket. Hopefully the source code will be release soon, then we can start working on compiling new kernels with new features
NoLed worked on my, i have I727 on Rogers, i think this is same phone as on ATT
What about the home, etc. buttons?
What about the light up "home", etc. buttons at the bottom? I'm actually annoyed that I can't see them at night when they're off.
Maybe someone could figure out how to control their lighting as a surrogate notification light.

[Q] Which Flashlight App for MT4GS?

I am using Undead's ICS splashed 3.0 which comes with Nexus Torch installed. The "bright" setting is incredibly bright, but doesn't stay on steadily. I have tried a good number of flashlight apps from Market (including the HTC 3 setting clone - or is it the original?) but all seem about as bright as regular setting in Nexus Torch. It seems that they all use the video light setting as opposed to the camera flash.
Has anyone found anything, if not as bright as Nexus Torch on "bright", at least brighter then the rest?
Try teslaLED I think its called, I used it on other devices idk if it works with our phone, states its the brightest flashlight app for android..
Sent from my HTC myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
I did try it (I have it on my phone right now) and it doesn't seem brighter then the others (I also tried Brightest Flashlight, AOI Flashlight, Maxflash, Tiny, HTC clone and others) and I think it is because they use the video light. I think I even came across that point somewhere that they actually run your camera/video. The nexus one (N1 torch) is way brighter, but doesn't stay on steadily. If you run the video light while taking a video you'll see it's no where near as bright as the flash for a picture.
I also wonder how the standard HTC app has 3 different settings, and no other app does.
Lastly, I find the color of the LEDs interesting, they're not as bright white as on my HD2, does anyone have any info on them?
I've been using tesla led for years. Stable. The widget is good and it has an ics theme button which looks nice

From my experience the led being set on bright has never given me trouble on other devices. As far as I know from my various dozen or so Android phones the brightest by far has been the G2. I've kept that thing running on bright for a minimum of an hour without it giving me trouble while I had to drop the tank in my truck to change the fuel pump on the side of the road......

All those satisfied with g2x GTFIH

Now i know LG abandoned this ship. I'm just as pissed off as the next guy about that one. I wouldn't mind an official jb or at least an ics update. But either way, I'm honestly quite satisfied with this phone and its performance. I'm running standard cm7 nightlies (latest) with Trinity t15 kernel and wolf script mod. Battery life is decent and bad when i whore wifi but that's the biggest iissue with my g2x. With all the hate threads around this forum there have to be others who have positive experiences with this device.
This phone is awesome. Since I started carrying around my portable nuclear power plant all my battery issues are gone.
Seriously though, if you use the phone the battery will drop. That is a law of physics you can't avoid. My problem with this phone was that with stock ROM the battery dropped a lot even when I did absolutely nothing. CM7 solved that, so I am happy.
I still don't get sufficient standby life so I am working on fixing an old HTC amaze (fixed bootloop, now waiting for screen to arrive). My wife's amaze can get over 4 days of standby and I just noticed that she has not rebooted it in close to 400 hours.

4 days of standby time? Sorry this is the g2x forum I don't know what that means.
Lol that's crazy!
I have about six months left until I'm available for an upgrade. Thinking the new s4, razor or nexus.
I agree this is still a pretty slick phone. I'm loving the dual boot setup with CM7/Trinity ELP as my runner and CM10.1 as my gaming/test platform. I'd probably be way more disappointed with the phone if I was stuck with stock software, but thanks to the awesome devs and their work I'm very happy with this phone.

I am currently running cm7 with Mazout360's kernel and wolfscript. I have themed my phone to be as similar to ICS/JB as possible, as that was the only way I could return to GB. I am very content with how it turned out.
In the end, I have accepted that I will probably never have fully functioning ICS or JB on this phone. But, I guess all that I was really looking for was that updated look and crisp feel, which I have since obtained!
Although I will move on to some sort of Nexus when I have better funding, I am satisfied with the g2x.
The only problem I seem to have with cm7 is this noticeable static flicker that appears very quickly after turning on the display. It only seems to do that with cm7 roms.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but is it possible to get the jellybean notification bar on gingerbread? Like with notifications you can swipe away and quick message replies to texts and all that. That might be the only thing keeping me on jellybean right now because I love the way it feels so intuitive and such.

Oh I went straight from Froyo on my old Optimus V to Jellybean on the G2X (I rooted and installed Paranoid Android right away) so I thought swipe notifications was a Jellybean thing. I'll install a Gingerbread ROM when I get back from work and try to make it look and feel like JB.
On topic, yes I'm very satisfied with my G2X, but that might also be because I wasnt expecting a high end phone when I bought it from eBay a few months ago. Also I have a Nexus 7 for any apps that I use that require a hardware accelerated jellybean.

For those of you who are content with cm7, even though it is old software, I am working on my "Speedster" rom. It is still quite alpha but my goals is to optimize CM7 for our G2xs. I am also doing a bunch of software updates inside and using Mazkrnl to have speed and stability. I use the latest ADW launcher in it and JB sounds so it really gives CM7 new life and gives it a great CM10 feel. I can't do anything about play store, still limited to 2.3 aps. No google keep/now
