I have been running bamf 1.8.6 and the leaked mr2 for about a week and average battery life is a day I would say. Last night I flashed the official MR2 radio hosted here. Great signal. Gps didn't lock as fast as some said but still faster than before. I went to bed with 90% battery and woke up 6 hours later with 29% wth?

i had about a 20% drop overnight, a bit more than usual but nothing too bad. ill test today after a full charge and calibration. i will say this update locks 4g fast and my signal is stronger.
my battery is sucking after official radio too. running CM7. gonna flash back to mr2 leak until the guys release an update hopefully with the new radio.

what update? the devs do not mod or create the radio's.
No issues here.. I feel like I have a real cell phone now.
Ive got about 14 hours of uptime right now with 45% battery left. I have mobile data always on, screen on auto-brightness, and gmail and weather syncing. Ive actually used the phone a bit also for surfing and a lot of texting.

the offical radio is the update. Mr2 leak is no longer supported or needed. It was canned by verizon. Radio version 1.39.00.0627 is the offical OTA MR2 radio
Here's what needs to be done:
1) Charge phone to 100%
2) Delete battery stats in CWM
3) Drain battery till phone shuts off
4) Charge to 100% again
5) Drain battery till phone shuts off
After step 5 you should be fully calibrated. Now if after doing this you still feel the battery is draining faster than before, then you can safely say you're seeing the adverse affects of flashing the official MR2.
Battery life after flashing a radio always sucks. You have to give it several days to adjust.
My Thunderbolt says, under Software information>Baseband version:
1.39.00.0627r, 0.01.69.0625r
Is having both those numbers normal, or should it just say 1.39.00.0627r?

The first one is the 3G radio and the second one is the LTE I believe. Might be vice versa but thats the reasoning behind having 2 basebands.
I also noticed that I won't switch up to LTE even when in a LTE area. If I put it in LTE only mode it will lock on immediatly and strong.

Hi,
For last two weeks I have flashed my defy with all available froyo mods....be it pays...or aldxmod or even chinese versions......they work like charm..(especialy the first two)...but one common problem with froyo roms is the fast draining battery.....i used to have a lot better backup on my stock 2.5.1 SEA rom.......
i am not able to figure it out....whether its due to the 3g fix i have used to improve the network reception or its meant to be like that.......but all of the time i used to think that froyo is less on resourcess and thus should give better backup than eclair.....
thanks in advance for any help.....i might rollback to my stock rom as its not always possible to keep the phone connected in office hours....
I see this as well like 12 run time with light use brings it down to 30-40%
No problem here with the UK Froyo SBF. I do not overclock/undervolt, nor have I modified this ROM in any way. Currently I am on 60% battery, after being unplugged for 45 hours.
maan thats awesome...i was reaching to 40% post 7 hours of unplugging and no substantial usage......
i guess the fixing of baseband for indian network is killling my backup.......
and best part is....i flashed from finland froyo sbf and now i cant rollback to stock eclair rom......yipppyyyyy
I'm using that T-Mo Froyo leak from jboogie and usually get more than 48 hours per charge.

I'm under adlxmod with scalable voltage/freq and I have around 24H bat.
But, I am amazed and interested to know how naenee and dlamber7 can reach that level of bat....
info on usage and app installed, widget loaded would be of help...
Thanks,

Yeah, I'm currently playing with my HD2, but I'll be using my Defy starting tonight and will update a screen shot in 2 days for you. I'll go download drocap2 after this reply.
Dlamber are you using 3g during that time? I can barely go above 24h even with juicedefender...
I'm not in a 3G area, but leave 3G on so it's constantly searching for a 3G signal that can't be found =\
guys.....i keep my internet connection switched on 24x7.....its a 2G service as we are in process of getting 3G services in India.......can this be reason for my poor backup???
please advice...
i m now on deblur finland moto froyo......still the same issue....battery drains very fast almost 10% per hour....

with my 2.51 I ussually got around 2days 10hours out of it
(thats with undervolt/overclock (300/16 & 1000/56)
yesterday I flashed jboogie's froyo and i didnt overclock yet
Ill post results later
but naenee's result is reaaly amazing
60% battery after 3days(and no oc/uc) Id like to see a screenshot of that aswell

I dont think thats the reason, i think 2g uses less battery then 3g ...not sure though
then my gut feeeling says..the 3g fix for 850/1900 frequecy which i patched is making my phone exert high.......coz all the feedbacks with high back up are in countries where they dont need this fix......
just an assumption to condole myself.....i as i now trapped by upgrading my defy to froyo by flashing froyo sbf....cant downgrade....
i m so happy.....i screwed my darling defy....
then uninstall the fix (reflash) if u think thats the problem?
ot try restoring 2.51 nandroid image if battery was so much better there?
man...didnt you read when i said...i m not able to downgrade....
other wise could have done this long ago....
m still trying hard to find the way to roll back....
still thanks for the advice.....
i figured out one more possible issue.....i have used 3g fix for china...no fix available for india...may be that is leading to poor backup.....
guess have not option now but to live with this....
I also noticed this problem, but as soon as you install the "juice defender" app it increases battery life considerably. I overclock mine to 1100mhz and it lasts 3 days before battery get's low enough to need to charging.
u cant downgrade with .sbf
but u can restore the nandroid image of 2.51 if u made the backup or someone elses?
or am I wrong?

Here in Thailand we also don't have 3G yet (apart from Bangkok) but my Defy lasts at least 2 days when I don't use it. And I have wifi on 24/7 as I don't have an unlimited data plan with my provider yet. I switched the radio to 2G only which gave me a little extra battery time but not so much that I would expect the same battery drain as you do. Are you sure it's the radio that is causing this? And why don't you switch it to 2G only? As long as there is no 3G network at least you might get decent uptimes.

Hi! do you have apns configured or no mobile data? wifi, gps on/off?
UK froyo has blur?
I would like to know how do you get such amazing times.
I have adlxmod f4d with 3g fix (850/1900) and can't get it to last more than one day. I listen to music several hours a day, but it seems to be using a lot of battery to remain in standby with only a few apps with sync.
Is it just me or are you guys getting phenomenal battery life with the recent upgrade to BAMF 1.5 remix? I know it's got a new kernal and it's built off a newer RUU and antenna but I've been seeing a lot better life all day. Does anyone else agree?

It for sure is better. I flashed the latest radio/rom and then charged to 100% and calibrated the battery. Now I'm letting it run out of juice till it dies then I'll recharge again then I'm going to start the real tests to see how it holds up.
Come to think of it I haven't charged my phone since this morning and I'm still at 50%. Tomorrow will be the real test.

I flashed the remix 1.5 rom+ new radio yesterday and left the phone off the charger at 81% last night around 1030pm. Woke up this morning and it was down to 20% (620am).
I left the data on Auto CDMA/LTE mode (wanted to see if the new radio fixed this). I put it back on again to LTE mode only this morning to see who that goes.
For those who got pretty good batt so far, are you keeping in on 3g Only/4g only mode or the auto 1x/3g/4g?

Ditto...gonna see how it pans out tomorrow.
I've seen little to no battery improvements from bamf 1.5 / new radio... but what I have noticed is my 4g / 3g network changes are faster and less often ( i live in 3g and work in 4g ). before this radio update I had to restart my phone when I got to work to switch over to 4g... the radio update fixed that little annoying issue.
and you have to take my battery experience with a grain of salt... because I stream pandora on my phone for about 10hrs a day
Hello to all you great people! I am not new to this site but I havent posted much or at all. This site is increadible and has taught me a ton about what a droid can do once you know how to use it. Thanks everyone! Anyway I have a question that I would of posted in the CM7 dev thread but I dont have permission since I havent posted much. Is anyone having bat drain issues with the newest build (RC1.1 MR2) using the GB radio 2.5? I have lost over 10% bat life in 25 mins while in airplane mode, no data including wifi and the screen was only on for maybe 2 or 3 mins. It may be a problem on my end but I just wanted to see if anyone else is having an issue with this. Oh and thanks to all you devs for doing all the hard work and dealing with angry wifes or girlfriends! We all appreciate it!

I actually had this problem too with the stock kernel, and once I overclocked with the Dream kernel it actually stopped draining my battery, strange.
I did try using Imoseyon's CM7 leankernel but had the same effect. Ill try the dream kernel and report back. Thank guys!!
I'm on my first day with this build of CM7, with MR2.5 and noticed my battery has drained way faster than it did with gingeritis.
Did you try wiping battery stats?

Is there an official name for this kernel, or someplace to get it? I tried a quick Google search for "htc thunderbolt dream kernel", and it didn't bring up anything definite.
I noticed the battery drain too. CM7 7.1.0 RC1 with the MR2.5 radio. It seems to be "cell standby" that's using the highest percentage of the battery. I have it set to CDMA / EvDo auto.
What programs do you have running? Are you overclocked? I an running mr2.5 cm7.1 rc1.1 and still have 22% on 18 hours unplugged. 3 hour screen on, lots of texting, xda browsing, market updates, and an hour of plans vs zombies. On stock kernel, no overclocking. Using interactive governor.

I do have things set to run in the background, but they don't even register a high enough percentage in the battery usage to show there. I was not having battery issues with the 7.0.1 RC 6 on MR1 (the last build).
I've tried two of the utkanos kernels (not the OC one), and the dream kernel. On both of the utkanos kernels, I had no data. I tried rebooting several times, switching data on and off, and changing the network mode. No luck. The dream kernel took several minutes, but data finally came on. I haven't used it long enough to comment on any battery life differences between stock CM7 and this.
Running BAMF getting 1 1/2 on battery easy on 2.5

Ok so here's the news on my end. With the dream kernel things seem much better! However I was watching my ma usage and it went from 48ma to 240ma something after turning on wifi. Then after turning wifi off it never dropped. I rebooted and things went back to a cool 48ma. I'm guessing my original problem was with the stock kernel. But now that I'm on the new one the phone wont power down the wifi or something and made me burn thru my bat till I rebooted. Any ideas gents? Reboot did fix but that usually kills a good 4 to 10% of my bat everytime. I have next to nothing running in the background too.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA App
Guess I should add that now after reboot I'm around 100 ma usage and steady with wifi on. Maybe a reboot once a day might do the trick till CM is finalized. Was thinking bout trying the mr2 radio stead of 2.5. Anyone know if there's a difference or advantage to either?

I was having trouble until i started using the KangBang kernel, that one seems to be the best for me
I've tried several different ROMs, as well as several different battery saving apps, but I keep running into the same problem with my Droid Charge - after a certain amount of time with the mobile network off, it will not turn back on without either a restart or a toggle of airplane mode. There has to be a bug in the software design, as the same issue occurs with Greenpower, Juice Defender, 2x, and Tasker. I've been on stock, Humble ROM, and am currently on Eclipse, but none of these ROMs have fixed this issue.
Are there any developers out there who can fix this issue? I get almost 20 hours of battery life when I use Juice Defender (compared to about 7 hrs without it), but I can't keep restarting my phone and toggling airplane mode in the middle of the day.
Any suggestions or fixes? I know that many are experiencing the same issue, but it never seems to get addressed.
You're more likely to get an answer to your question if you post it in the correct section -- development is for releases and tutorials; Q&A goes in General (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074281).
From what I have read, you cant really use Juice Defender or other similar apps with the charge. For some reason, when those apps turn off the radio, it won't always come back on. Sometimes a reboot fixes it and sometimes not.
This is a radio issue so I don't think a rom can fix it. I tried Juice with EE4 and it worked if you did not disable the radio but battery savings is almost non-existent. I have not tried it on EP1Q though. I am lucky to get 10 hrs on my battery.

I've had good results running Juice Defender with 3G where the radio comes back pretty much all the time. 4G doesn't fair nearly as well, not coming back about 30% of the time.
I tend to use 3G most of the time, only switching to 4G when I need the insane speed (tethering or Netflix watching). The battery life is much better.

Which radio are you using? EE4? or EP1Q?
As far as EE4 goes, I also agree that JuiceDefender is too inconsistent to run since the data always drops out. However, when I ran the full EP1F/EP1H (I forgot which one I flashed to) GB leak awhile back just to try out, JD was actually working quite well to at least a 90% consistency in restoring data after unsleeping my phone. Unfortunately with all the other bugs going on with the GB leaks I reflashed back to EE4, and now I've flashed to the EP1Q modem only. I've yet to try JD with the EP1Q modem, but I'll give it a try later today.
Wait, we can use the EP1Q radios with an EE4 rom?

Scroll down a bit on his twitter feed and you'll find it. Be sure you download the correct 0.13.3 version since 0.13.5 is unstable and will cause bootloops on your phone.
The only instance I've run into issues so far with is music streaming. It seems my GMusic and Pandora will randomly have popping sounds while streaming music. It's nothing too major for me but just in case anyone was wondering why they could be getting it.
Thanks. Should I go with his or imnuts? Just wanna know if there's a big difference between the two like speed an battery life...

Hi,
Has anyone else had problems with the battery draining with the new 4.0.4 ? My GF Nexus S was still on 2.3.6 so I got the factory version of 4.0.4 and installed it. I obviously wiped the data/cache/etc. Also I rooted it with the latest superuser.
I'm running the latest nighly of CM9 and everything is perfect, so I thought it was time to give her the sweetness of ICS.
So with all that useless information, has anyone found a fix for the battery drain in 4.0.4?
Thank you,
WarpedMonkeys
Since I installed 4.0.4 my battery lasts up to 20 hours, no problem at all.
I'd suggest manual full wipe with fresh 4.0.3 stock rom and then manual ota update to 4.0.4.
I'm also using matr1x kernel, it's just awesome
Hope it helps

Stock rom is ok, but updating with ota from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 may lead to bad battery behaviour. Someone says that battery stats wipe could lead to better battery performances, but I think fresh install could do the trick

A full battery cycle could do the trick. Don't let it die, anyway, because it can cause battery wear... Just take it to 10% and recharge it nighttime... You may also wipe battery data before, if you wish...

Heavy battery drain ??? i don't have any issues with it, infact i have not touched my phone for 1 day 6 hours and 25 minutes and my battery dropped from 95% to 82%. My phone was fully charged (didn't go higher then 95%). I am very impressed by the results.
I changed 2 settings:
1. Automatic screen brightness.
2. Turn screen off after 30 seconds.

Wait a sec... that's not normal for me
Do you use 3G to connect to the internet? Never got more than 20 hours on 3G/HSDPA... without even using the phone!
Hello,
my Nexus S was updated automatically to version 4.0.4. I will tell you. My problem is with data. Now I can not open any WWW page in default viewer,Opera sometimes opens some pages but quite rare. I can not get any email in K9 Mail. Update of Google maps took several hours, unfinished, eaten all my battery! Sometimes I am without signal or with bad signal.
It is for sure problem with 4.0.4 because I have unlimited data. So, no FUP in this case.
I was satisfied with 2.3.6. How can I do downgrade without rooting etc. my phone ?

Check your APNs. But they should have come off the simcard when you updated.

Try find out what is hogging your battery/cpu. Download os monitor.
Or just flash a new rom to see if that helps. make a backup first
